Billing problems and questions.
Copies of bills from Feb to Sept 2023 attached:
The bills have been in the same format for 18 years.
The bill shows three numbers in the Amount due sections and in the top right portion of the bill. These are: an amount due by that month (prior month’s usage), and below is the current usage due the next month and a total of the two.
In APRIL 2023 the statement showed $78.19 due in April and $83.33 due in May. The next bill sent May 4th shows $83.33 due 5/13 and $76.41 due 5/26- three days later, not June as normally billed. I did not notice the date because I wasn’t expecting it to be different from my past statements. So when I received my next bill June 5th the amount was past due and there was no amount listed for the July.
No one can explain what occurred in May except say it was a typing error or the bill changed due the number of days in the cycle. None of this is accurate. I have had many bills with different numbers of days covered.
I called but got no explanation or help.
I finally paid the May amount past due July 10th and then paid the amount for July. This meant I also had late fees of 3.81 and 3.70 and 3.70 (charged after the bill was paid in full). Only one of the fees was reimbursed. The new format is only showing the current amount due.
I am not sure if the May bill was wrong or I was charged twice for May. It appears that we had previously paid the current charges the next month and now are paying the current charges in the current bill.
Still my May bill was double past May bills. I feel a notice of this change should have been included in the billing statement.
I worked on this for over 10 hours by phone.
Desired outcome: Remove late fees of 3.70 and 3.81 and explain May bill and change to billing. cycles. Remove late notice notations in credit reporting.
