car rental
Her name is Rachel, she should rent Brooms not cars...Scottsdale AZ is her home. Why she doesn't like me is a mystery, but new meaning goes to a woman's SCORN applies. I will never book with Enterprise Car Rentals in Scottsdale area again. They have lost me and my money to pay for a car, check my record regarding payments, no problems. She says she is a manager, American and would probably vote for Donald Trump. WHY some people in that nice place try to make you not enjoy your stay is a mystery? They do...Please give her my disrespect and she will be promoted. I do not know her last name, would you want to know. Just say that I have powers also, but when pushed that power is many times stronger. Zeus
refund customer service representative
We had gotten a rental car while our car was in the shop. We had waived the optional insurance, (we have the paperwork to prove it). We were charged without authorization for the insurance. When I called to ask why an get a refund I was disconnected. When I called back I was put on hold and after 30 mins I was than disconnected. The third time I got the same guy again and I think he know I was not going to stop calling. So he told me that he will only refund me if the insurance fills out the paperwork to cover the rental.
First off they have have and we have all of the paperwork.
Second, why was I charged when we had waived the insurance.
Third why do we have to wait and do more paperwork when they are the ones who charged us, for something that we waived.
Since when is proof(the paperwork) that you waived something that you where charged for not good enough to get a refund?

rental car
5/16/16
Rented a Chrysler 200 for a weekend trip, when we did the walk around inspection the person was more interested in the location and reason I was going then paying attention to any so called damage to the car. She asked where I was going, I told her the high school state baseball game, she replied that she played for a local high school and played for a local college. She did a 15 second walk around the vehicle with me, nothing was noticed that I recall. To see the so called damage by the person that evaluated the vehicle upon return you would have to practically get on your hands and knees. THIS was not done on the initial inspection for sure, please review your video camera footage for proof. I can promise you that that area is not only hard to see, it is practically the same color as the vehicle, so it is very hard to see. I told the person that did the inspection that I do not agree with his statements and wrote my position on the receipt. The kicker is, the manager has the nerve to offer me a 10% discount on my next rental? Your kidding, right? After feeling like I have been extremely taken advantage of, your going to offer me a 10% discount. What a joke! I am billed $130 for damage, $50 for admin fees, $7.55 for loss of use of vehicle (I promise that the vehicle never missed a rental).

My car was hit by a truck and insurance rent me a car (that's what I thought!). Fred from enterprise in glenwood springs co, made unethical sale (after I told him that I never rent a car before)- damage waver is optional, everybody! Friday afternoon my card was unauthorised charged without me knowing wich is put my account balance negative over weekend and cost me bank fees if I didn't find out about it by accident. I explained situation to the banker and she called fred on my behalf. He admitted unauthorised charge and made offensive remark about "language barrier", when banker said that they will stop charge, he snapped (on taped company line) and I quote: " I will ripped her (Me) out of the car! And hung up! It's been four days how I return rental car but have no refund on unauthorised charge and no response for my complaint! It's been second weekend with empty bank account because of enterprise and I feel sorry for people who's labor day holiday was ruined like mine just because they was customers at glenwood springs co, enterprise!

enterprise charged me for pre-existing damage to car
Beware - Enterprise Rental's scam practice of charging you for pre-existing damage to the rental car. I rented a car from Enterprise Rental in Jacksonville Fl in April 2016. When I returned the car they pointed out damage to the black plastic front grill. It was so low, it was very hard to see without stopping over to see it. I'm sure it was there when I rented the car as nothing happened to the car while I had it. Enterprise charged me almost $900 for loss of use, loss of value, service fees -- to a rental car with 32, 000 miles and lots of scratches, stains and wear and tear. Enterprise forces you to pay by threatening to send the bill to collections. I now know this is a common scam run by Enterprise Rental. When renting a car, I recommend taking video of the entire car, on all sides and include the license plate VIN#, and odometer. Also refuse to rent high mileage cars. Shame on you, Enterprise Rental.

bogus hail damage claim
I rented a car while my car was being repaired for a rear end collision on 4/1/2016. When I rented the car, the lady on the walk around was very specific about me only pointing out quarter size damage or larger. I kept pointing out items and she dismissed them. The whole walk around took less than 5 minutes. There was a big chip in the windshield. While I had the car, there was a big hailstorm in San Antonio. I was at home during said storm and rent car safely ensconced in my 2 car garage. There was no hail reported in my zip code as well as can be evidenced by weather sites reporting hail in San Antonio. When I returned car, the man inspecting it took a good 15-20 minutes examining every minute detail. I asked him what he was doing and he said car had hail damage. IMPOSSIBLE, it was not exposed to hail while I had it. I even have witness (my Mother who lives with me who can verify car was in garage.) He then got another man to come out and both concurred it had hail damage. When we went back in they said I had to wait while they filed a claim immediately with USAA. I protested vehemently to no avail. Upset, I went out and took pictures of car from all angles. No visible damage to be seen. Later I get notified from USAA about the claim and told them the same that car was not exposed to hail during my control of it. Today, I get notice that over $4000 of hail damage is reported and I must pay. This is absurd and a scam facilitated by Enterprise. I will fight this tooth and nail and hire an attorney if I must. It is very likely the car had this damage BEFORE I rented it and it was not noticed since dents were microscopic. Maybe that is how the windshield got damaged! I have written protest letters to USAA and to Enterprise. No one at enterprise has called me to discuss. I will never rent from this company again and will share my story on any venue to get the word out about this despicable scam.

rented car with amex e-certificates and engaging in fraud and unfair debt collection practices
I rented a car from Enterprise in Colorado Springs (airport location) August 7-10, 2015. I paid with American Express E-certificates totaling $282+. When I returned the car, the company apparently charged my American Express card (without my authorization) for $195 (the full rental for the 4 days rental). When I received my AMEX bill, I saw the charge and filed a dispute. AMEX contacted the merchant and supposedly this was resolved, with AMEX crediting my account and sending me a letter of resolution. Two months ago, I received a call from a collection agency (First Financial Asset Management) telling me I owe Enterprise money. NO, I DO NOT! Obviously, the people at the rental station sold the e-certificates (which they took when I picked up the car) and pocketed the money, then charged me. Now I have this fraudulent collection agency harming my excellent credit score! DO NOT RENT FROM ENTERPRISE. NEVER GO NEAR THE ENTERPRISE COLORADO SPRING AIRPORT LOCATION! I have filed complaints with the state agency and CFPB, but I suspect I will have to file suit against this fraudulent company to resolve the issue.

I am complaining about their dishonesty and taking advantage of a combat veteran and family
in July 2015 we went into the Enterprise car sales location in Indianapolis, Indiana. We had a 2013 Mazda 5 that my husband had bought me brand new just after we got married in July 2013. My husband is a combat wounded veteran who made so many unselfish decisions for my 3 daughters any myself. He sold his 2011 Chevy Silverado he had dreamed of for years in order to have the funds to adopt my 3 daughters and help us get a more family friendly vehicle. We put $10, 000 worth of trades and cash into our Mazda 5 so we only had to take out a $18, 000 loan on a $26, 500 vehicle. Then in the fall of 2014 we found out our teen daughter was expecting. The adoption was finalized just before our grandson was born. We quickly realized our Mazda was to small for the entire family to fit into we went car shopping. We were dumbfounded when we were only being offered pay off of $13, 500 on our Mazda that all the dealerships for still selling for $19-$20, 00. Yet dealerships are supposed to only mark up cars 17%. .
I used to be in the wholesale car business in my previous marriage due to my ex-husband was a car salesman. I knew our desperation put us in the palm of their hands and they were going to take advantage of us. I sat at that desk crying and saying if we bought the van it would be the biggest mistake of our lives because they were screwing us over. My husband being the old fashioned and honest man he is believing a man at his word and not thinking they would take advantage of our situation and not wanting to believe that the salesman would lie to us in such a vulnerable position felt our only option was to buy a van. Our 2 youngest daughters are disabled and have each had 2 brain surgeries as well as our youngest daughter was on a feeding tube. Considering all the medical supplies and extra space needed for our new grandson we thought our only choice was the van. Enterprise promised to always give the most for Kelly Blue Book and to always sale their vehicles less than Kellly Blue Book. The van was promised to have blue tooth as we were assured it was part of the uconnect package, there is not Bluetooth. I asked during the test drive why didnt the Bluetooth work and the salesman said the uconnect was not turned on until the vehicle was sold and turned on in our name. We were also promised mats with the van that we never received. The salesman showed us written document that stated if you used the economy option on van you would get better gas mileage than we had on our 4 cylinder Mazda. That was another lie. The best gas mileage that van gets not on highway even with economy chosen is 18 mpg. I still have my saved text messages to the manager and the car salesman about these complaints. After numerous phone calls and texts they NEVER helped with any of the above issues.
A few months before buying the van My husband made a huge dream come true of our 3 daughters. He has made it possible for us to live in our very first ever house. 3 days before closing we found out the lender never received the COE for the VA loan. By the grace of God the home owner allowed us to take possession before the sale. We wound up deciding to go with USDA 502 direct home loan after months of no luck with the VA. Still waiting to close on the house we have lived in for over a year and put all of our money into its left us no choice but to now downsize the van to a car. Our oldest daughter who is a teen mom has decided to join the military and our family can finally all fit into a 5 passenger vehicle. So we called Enterprise as they promised us the only reason they offered so little the previous year for the Mazda was because the Mazda 5 was discontinued in 2015. We wanted to make sure before driving over an hour out to Enterprise that day we called first. I asked the very question if we drive all the way out to you to trade in a vehicle we bought 8 months from you that we have never been happy with, never could afford and don't want are you only going to give us the Kelly Blue Book trade in which is about $4-$5, 000 less than we owe. We were asked what vehicle we had, options, mileage, damage etc and then assured we would get payoff if we bought a vehicle from them. So we went and we test drove a few vehicles and found exactly what we wanted and once they had us sold on the car the sales lady left and the very manager, Cameron A. McAteer that told us all the lies comes in and offers only $14, 500 for the van.
I'm sure its understandable our surprise when Cameron only offered us $14, 500 for the same vehicle they sold us less than a year before for $22, 999. I then went out onto their lot and saw 3 separate vans the exact year as ours and the same model. The vans had more miles and did have the back up camera, DVD players nor did they have the Uconnect and Enterprise had them listen anywhere from $19, 000-$21, 500. That is 30 to 40% mark up not the 17% allowed by regulations. I of course was angry and sad that they lied to us and took us for such fools. I started crying in the middle of the office saying you promised us that you would not do this very thing. How can you only give us $14, 500 for a vehicle you sold us 8 months ago for $22, 999 with no damage and we only put 10, 000 miles on it. I reminded Cameron of the exact vans on their lot currently for sale for over $21, 000 that has more miles than ours and does not have all the options our van has. The exact same manager and car salesman was working. The manager asked me to stop crying and that she was doing her job. She said she knows I know the car business and cars depreciate. I said there are No vehicles bought 1 year old that have absolutely no damage that depreciates over $8, 000 in 8 months.
The best Cameron offered to do for us was 15, 500.
That was 4 months ago. We still have the van and today the van trade in for excellent condition with all the options is $16, 800.
I wish our family would have not listened to all the lies they told us. We should have kept the Mazda and just had to not always be toghether as a family. With my 3 brain surgeries it was not an option to drive 2 vehicles to family events like Christmas or Thanksgiving because all of our family lives over an hour and I cant drive over 30 minutes at a time due to some neurologica damage to my brain. I feel blessed for every day that I can drive my children safely. I am not sure what we will do at this point. We have never been late making a car payment ant we wont start now. I just do not understand how this is legal.

car rental
My complaint only relates to American Express's promotion of Enterprise and their car rental services. I switched my car rental from Dollar to Enterprise on a recent trip to RI to take advantage of an Amex promotion. My experience couldn't have been worse. Enterprise (North Providence, RI) told me they had no car for me ... it was that simple! No car ... not the offer of one the next day or a different model .. nothing! I would encourage Amex to stop promoting the services of this less that adequate car rental company. I'm usually very satisfied with Amex promotions ... but not this time ... and I feel you should know it!
damaged vehicle
Rented a car that a customer had just returned. Pointed out dent to Enterprise employee. Returned car to a different branch. Explained that staff person in West Haven branch were aware of dent before I took possession. Now they are billing me for the dent. This occurred in Feb 2016. Have been trying to contact the West Haven branch to resolve this matter and continue to get blown off. Call 3 times yesterday 6/24/2016. On to get blown off again. If they are so sure I am responsible for the damage then why does anyone there refuse to speak with me. I tend to believe they know they dropped the ball by not billing the previous renter so why not get it from me.

rental car
I rented an Enterprise card from Broomfield, CO on 5/18 and returned it to the Denver airport branch on 5/21. The Denver branch claimed hail damage when I returned the vehicle even though I never encountered hail. When I received the vehicle in Broomfield, it was several hours late and they had just washed the car without drying it. As usual, I examined the vehicle for damage but could not detect existing hail damage due to all the water still on the car.I am angered and disappointed that the company is trying to take advantage of me. Enterprise said their claims department would call me but I never received a call, then today I receive a notice from Enterprise in the mail not even giving an amount for damage but threatening to send a bill. This is just bad business and making me feel like I should fight this tooth and nail, report their wrongful claims all over social media and make sure everyone I know will never use Entrtprise again. I always use Hertz and have never had a problem.

bad service
I book with this local company 2-3 times a year, today I got a surprise phone call to cancel my 3 day booking for a cargo van, sorry we dont have a van for you it was in an accident, no replacement offered, nothing, just a number to call, so I called, after 15 minutes on hold, they said management would call me back, I still had 30 minutes to rent a van before 6 so I drove there to 17725 yonge st... Explained my problem, her solution? Let me call and try to get you a rental I don't have one, but I say there is a van in the parking lot, she says its not mine... Is this good customer service to a regular renter I think not, to make matters worse I get home and have a call from discount, saying he was phoning about my complaint, what? Its a different company or so I thought, nope, at least he was nice to call but knew nothing about my rental... I rented thru enterprise newmarket on yonge st, he was discount rental within steps, but his head office passed along my phone number, why? No vans are available for me to pick up at 8am tomorrow., do they think I am stupid? Newmarket has so may rentals available, I found one in seconds, picked it up before 6pm, fully paid til sunday, no issues, nice clean, new van, thanks thrifty newmarket for coming to my rescue, I will use you in the future!

failure to return my deposit
I rented a car in Nice, France for 1 week on April20, 2016 til April 28, 2016. Enterprise took a 250 euro deposit and today is May 20, 2016 with no deposit refund. We have started a claim with VISA to credit our account as we have full contract showing this deposit which has not been returned. Enterprise USA has made very little effort in helping us with their French counterpart.
Very upset. If someone can help me in getting this return quicker, it would be greatly appreciated.
rental deposit not returned in timely manner.
Date of Incident : 5/13/2016
Rental Agreement Number : 4C94KF
Description : Enterprise has not returned my refund in a timely manner, as well as overcharged me for the "Young Driver Fee" that was advertised on the website. The women also neglected to tell me the $250 deposit would come out of my account, until I had walked in the door, and signed some of the paperwork. It has been 3 Business Days and I have not seen my money. After trying to call Enterprise customer service, I was bounced back to the branch's office. The (same) Women I spoke to at the branch said the refund was sent back Friday, but because of the weekend I should expect it on Tuesday. Which I again realized is only fair, since Saturday and Sunday aren't counted as business days. She then proceeded to tell me their underage fee has "always" been $14 and hasn't changed in a long time. On top of me being angry that I'm still out $250, I received VERY poor customer service when inquiring about being overcharged and still not seeing my refund.
Resolution : I would like my refund immediately. I will no longer be renting a vehicle from Enterprise in the future as well.
I should also note that I tried to call the Enterprise Regional Office, and was routed around through an automated machine that sent me to three different offices where the employee was conveniently out for a week.
Waiting on my deposit of 400.00 to be redeposited in my checking account. I was told on Friday 6/10/16 that it should deposit overnight - not true. This is after I went on Thursday to correct the rental transaction 480.00 isn't the cost of a rental but that's what cleared out of my checking acct. According to Ford dealership in Augusta, Ga the flat rate referral was 30.00 Not only that, but I have an Enterprise membership number!
bogus damage claims
As part of a Damage Warranty claim with Geico we were provided a rental from Enterprise. Enterprise pulled a bogus scam on us, not really inspecting the car, and at return pointed a damage underneath the from passenger door, not visible standing up. On your knees you can see it. I have 2 pdf docs with all the info, they don't attach, only pictures
May 11, 2016
Reference: Steven Sheer 4/29-5/4 2016 Rental period
4/29 – Rental #46TR2F
4/30-5/4 – Rental #472M2N
To Whom It May Concern:
Please be advised that during the entire rental period 4/29-5/4 2016 there was no damage done to the car, nor was any damage report completed that we reviewed and signed off on at the time of return on 5/4/2016.
On May 4, during the car return at the Bronx Enterprise, the Rep pulled up the car records, didn’t asked us to join him as he walked straight to the car looked underneath and pointed out a slight dent under the car right front passenger seat door beam, which you can’t see without bending your knees.
We then returned to New Rochelle because that’s where the car was picked up and reviewed by Christine. When we arrived, Christine walked straight to the slight dent. We clearly indicated to Christine that the dent must have been there prior to the rental, because we were not in any incident. We park our car in a private lot, we are excellent drivers and did not cause any damage.
When departing the Enterprise car rental, we had requested a blank invoice to prove that we returned the car and that there was no out of pocket costs (Geico to cover all costs). The Enterprise Rep Christine mentioned that Geico did not pay them rental fee for 2 days and could not produce an invoice or proof of car return. I requested documentation in writing stating we returned the car with ¾ tank of fuel and there were no damages to the car. We had asked for the rental cars’ history to see if these damages have been reported prior to our rental. Christine did not provide any information, but John signed off on our contract that the car was returned “No extra damage”. Attached is a copy of this statement with John’s signature.
We believe the slight dent was caused by the prior renter. The car was returned without being cleaned. Christine had to vacuum clean the car herself and may have not have noticed all dents in her haste to get the car rented by us. The car had visible signs of damage that was documented by Christine in the rental agreement.
After counsel with our lawyers, we request the following information from Enterprise is to proceed with a bogus damage claim.
1. Proof that the vehicle was damaged while it was in our possession. That would include pictures of the car that are time-stamped before and after that show the damage.
2. Documentation of any loss of use.
3. A contact for the repair shop, so our attorney can speak with them directly.
4. Any documents signed by us acknowledging any damage to the car when returned.
What is not clear is that Enterprise works on a claim, while we already handed over the car rental? We did not sign any damage claim documentation or incident report.
We have reviewed online that Enterprise has produced bogus damage claims as to produce additional revenue. There is documented proof that other Enterprise car renters have been through this same process and it is clear that this is the modus operandi of Enterprise to scam renters with bogus damage claim process.
We would like to request, as counseled by our lawyer, to remove all bogus damage claim against Steven Sheer, et al.
If we receive any further notification for a damage claim, we will work with our lawyer to join thousands of other innocent renters to take part of an already existing “class action suit” against Enterprise. We understand that National and Alamo car rental companies are also trying to create additional revenue with bogus damage claims. We will also write to the New York State Insurance Commissioner to document our issue and if necessary, take this issue to court.
We look forward to a having this bogus damage claim revoked as we would wish to have a favorable impression of Enterprise and not have to go court. Enterprise’s reputation would be at stake as we have a large network of professionals.
Regards,
Steven Sheer

Addendum
Rental History between Geico and Enterprise – 4/29-5/4 2016.
Over the last 3 years we have been struggling with Geico to have bad repairs done to our car properly repaired. As part of the warranty repairs and agreement we received a car rental from Enterprise.
Enterprise New Rochelle, NY Franchise
Geico had to officially correct a bad repair from their Auto Body Shop of damage caused by one of their clients in 2013. The first warranty repair was done in 2014 and second (now) in 2016. We completed the repair, the car has been fixed correctly by a certified VW Auto Body Shop in the Bronx NY.
Both Enterprise and Geico didn't cooperate much when we tried to pick up our car on Thursday 21, April 2016, Geico claimed to have approved the rental days earlier on Wednesday 20 April 2016. At pickup the struggle with Enterprise started.
Eventually after an agonizing 2.5 hours waiting and many phone calls with Geico to have everything approved, we were provided a car. (on top of that Geico claimed NY State fee was max $30 p/d. Enterprise claimed not to have a car in that price range, but we could get a $35 p/d available car, and pay $5 p/d out of pocket, after escalation, this issue was resolved)
The 3rd Enterprise Rep (Christine) was able complete the process and was so very helpful, had understanding of our frustration, and was very cooperative to get us going as soon as possible. We are here to help you after such a long and uncomfortable wait, she said. We didn’t want to wait any longer, accepted the car unwashed and quickly cleaned, we just didn’t care at this point and wanted to leave.
The Enterprise Rep (Christine) did a 30 sec walk through, she didn’t document much on the contract at all, claiming we shouldn’t be concerned about what was on the car, all within the limits of that little circle card she used to spot damages. She did not look under the car as she had done when we returned the car. My wife and I pointed out that we are non car professionals and would not be able to determine what is considered a damage. When finally got going we still had to go to another Franchise in Ardsley NY the next day to an agreement with the Geico representative.
Enterprise Ardsley NY Franchise
Since Geico pushed back on the rental cost with Enterprise, we were asked by Geico to have the rental re-contracted at the Ardsley Franchise in NY so Geico could get a better deal from them. To make things go smoother during the 2.5 back and forth, we agreed to go in our own time next day to Ardsley.
The Enterprise Rep (Zack) didn’t even leave his desk to do an inspection and walkthrough with us, he said its ok, the car was already checked the day before. There was nothing documented on the new contract. (However when they called Zak to verify as part of the scam, he acknowledged we did the inspection and the car wasn’t damaged, not even Christine marks where on the Ardsley contract).
This experience with Enterprise has been very unfavorable. We would really need to consider if we will ever do business with Enterprise again.
enterprise rental car
This is sanjeev and I have been renting car from enterprise all my life.. But suddenly I see a damage against my name for something happened in [protected] on a truck that was rented in memphis. I took the rental from airport location.. I was given a truck even though I had booked a usual mid-size car. I had asked for returning to a different location which I did.. But upon return to my surprise they mentioned some scratches on the truck which would have been there when I rented. When they gave me the car.. It was just washed and was still wet because of which I did not notice the scratches.. I suppose it was done on purpose.. And now in 2016 it came up again while trying to rent a car in new jersey. They have a big amount against me charged for that in the order of 1800 dollars which looks exorbitant fir some scratches on the truck. Moreover it was hidden from me when I rented the car as I was in a hurry. Same was the case when I returned the truck and was asked to sign some documents for the damage seen on truck.. Which was never done by me. Not sure why it is coming up now after 3 years.. I thought it was all taken care of much earlier.. Very disappointed with enterprise on this case where they are pushing an existing damage onto me...

This Issued should be clarified between the rental car company and Priceline.com agreement so that their customers will not be cheated and been charged twice for bying "Collision Damage Coverage"(Priceline.com) or "Renter Accepts Optional Damage Waiver"(Enterprise car rental) on my resently rental. After purchase the "Collision Damage Coverage" from Priceline.com, however, when I arrived at the Enterprise Rent-A-Car company on 8420 Elk Grove Blvd, ElK Grove, Ca [protected], Enterprise car rental asked me purchased the same insurance coverage which is"Renter Accepts optional Damage waiver" because they do not honor the one offered by Priceline.com! Therefore, I had paid twice for the same item? Why there is such a cheating program to trap the an aware consumer? We used to rent car for traveling, enjoying on local short vacation trip, but all we had being faced with un-welcoming and had been taking advange at the rental car company because we had go through "the middle man" in this case is Priceline.com
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
fraudulent charges
I need help Please! Enterprise hit my account for over 1700.00 and in no way, shape, or form authorise this. I did not have near that amount in my account nor did I Have overdraft protection. They made a very large mistake and the bank will not work with me ultimately allowing this to happen.
Every week I would authorise an agreed amount for the rental.
While in Florida on vacation I noticed a discrepancy with my bank account.
It seems they would charge my account and 7-10 days later would redeposit the money unbeknownst to me, as both my wife and I used the card.
After my last authorisation to them for 176.00 2 days later they hit my account for over 1700.00. I didn't have anywhere near that amount in my account nor did I have overdraft protection. So ultimately they charged over 1500.00 more than they should have. I have been around and around with them and the bank but somehow they are allowing this to happen. I have been thrown into a tailspin and don't know what to do. Im at hte end if my rope. Someone PLEASE HELP.
This seems to be a common practice by enterprise and needs to be stopped. Report them to them to the attorney generals office.
Enterprise is the worst business I have experienced ever. Don`t use them. Anyone will regret it.
damaged rental
We rented a car from Enterprise through our auto insurance. The location at a little past 5pm and twas very busy. The man who had helped us let his co-workers that he had to leave by 5:30, no excuses. He wrote up our contract then walked us out to do a very rushed inspection of the vehicle. When we walked up to the car the trunk was opened so he could show is the spare tire. He closed the trunk as he walked around the passenger side of the vehicle and I followed. He said "we are only looking for any dents bigger than a golf ball and scratches longer than a dollar bill. My husband pointed to damage he saw at the drivers side rear of the vehicle, and the employee said not to worry about it if it was smaller than a golf ball, but said we could notate it anyway. We said a couple more small dongs and again was dismissed with the same sentence. The employee marked two small dings on the two from doors but not the damage my husband had pointed out. The car was dirty with garbage under the seats. We asked if we had to clean it when we returned and he said no. Thinking everything was fine, we left.
When I returned the car it was a different story. The lady who originally helped me had the same man who helped me during the rental go out and look at the vehicle. She came back and told me there was damage on the vehicle and that she would have to file a claim for it. I told her that we didn't hit anything and for most of the duration of our rental (about 10 days) the car was parked in my garage. I also told her that the man who rented us the car was in a hurry and we were rushed through the inspection. The man told me that he is very thorough when he inspects the cars, especially the trunk area because the spare is in there.
There were two separate dents on the trunk, both smaller than a golf ball. But Enterprise is trying to count both of them as one total dent because they are close together. This seems fraudulent to me because by them doing that, it fits their purpose and allows them to claim the damage.
We were told that all that would be done that day was returning the vehicle. They said that the car would be given a damage estimate and investigation on prior contracts and that would then tell us whether we are responsible and how much. They charged my card $300 before any estimate was given.
The manager told my husband that there was a good chance that they wouldn't even fix the damage because it wasn't "that bad".
The car that was given to us had been returned at 5pm, and it was 5:29 when we were out ready to leave. So in a period of less than 30 minutes they state they were able to do a thorough inspection of the vehicle, return the vehicle, re-service the vehicle, rent the vehicle to us and do another inspection on the vehicle. All without any mistakes. In that small of a time window, it's impossible to be able to be as thorough as they claim.
We asked for time stamped photos of the return prior to our rental and they said they don't do that because they do contract inspections.
We believe the man who rented the car to us was in so much of a hurry that when he returned the car before us he either missed the damage or deliberately skipped the damage because he didn't have time to deal with it then. We believe that he knew the car was going to us through an auto insurance contract and attempted to make us responsible for the damage to the vehicle.
The lady who started the return on our rental called my husband later and was very unprofessional with him. She told him that the card was charged $300 and she was closing the contract, knowing we were disputing the claim and without any estimate given.
I wish that I had known about all the many complaints that I have seen since this experience, I would have never done business with a company who takes such advantage of their customers.
