only one person in store without manager or employee backup/ bad management
I was in store 10121 around 4:00pm today 10/20/17 and Gordy was the only employee in the store. There was a long line of 7 to 8 people waiting to be checked out. When he was asked where his extra help was he stated that his manager had left for a little while and he was the only person in the store. As a customer and a manager of a buisness I find this extremely inappropriate that a non manager employee was left alone in the store. And this is not an unusually accurence for this said manager.
She is also known for bad mouthing her employees to customers and friends along with holding up lines by talking to friends for minutes when she is there and actually on a register. I am one of many unimpressed customers.
store manager
On today at 5:00 p.m when I clocked in asked about the new schedule for next week and he said it was hanging up so I looked and noticed I only had two days for next week . Then I went on to say I need to talk with you about the schedule . Then he responds and say I don't have to discuss with you nothing about my schedule and don't ask me anymore . I said all I'm asking is for more days and it's rare that you'll have an employee that'll ask for more days too work . Then he said make this your last time asking me about my schedule before you want have no days on my schedule at all . I shouldn't have to work in such hostile environment. It's almost like he's singling me out like he want me to quit but I'm not because as I stated I have a family to feed and bills to pay . I will report to work on my two days that I have but if he goes in the system and change them after the fact I'll be taking legal action for discrimination . I'm currently on hold with the corporate office now but just in case the office closed this is my complaint .
family pet scoopable cat litter scented 11 lb container
I recently bought this "scoopable" cat litter at the Family Dollar in Port Royal PA. It was an acceptable price and didn't require us to drive anywhere. The store is within walking distance. It claims that it has "superior odor control". WRONG. The ammonia smell is not masked at all!! I should add that I change my cat's litter box daily. It claims that i...

I was going through my 12 yr old phone as I usually do and seen something I have never seen before on his phone. A flick as we call it. After further investigation, I see it is a flick of a manager of the store we shop at weekly. I have came to know her by shopping in that store all the time with my child. She is very unprofessional. Always on her phone talking loudly. You can see her walking around the store on it. I really want you to see what my son and His 12 yr old friends been looking at. All these kids parents shop at this store and these kids do to. She need to keep her private business off the internet. This is redicilious and o will not be going back I will go down the block to dollar general. I need a call from corporate on what you'll will be doing about this and this manager employee
charge to my debit account and paid cash due to casher's error!
My name is Donna Little [protected]@yahoo.com or [protected]. I got to the counter, the cashier rang up my items totaling in the amount of $19.09. I inserted my card, entered my pin, and the machine instructed me to "remove card!" I moved my card and the cashier told me the transaction did not go through, I had to pay cash. However, I thought about it and as I exited the store I logged into my bank account and noticed that the transaction did in fact was processed. I went back to the store for my cahs back and they would not give me. I have a receipt and bank statement. I was told to come back and see a manager but, I was treated very disrespectful!
If they will not refund your cash, you could file a dispute with your credit card company.
refund given different than my receipt
10/19/2017
I started with 1 complaint now I have 2 - called Family Dollar customer sevice number I was on hold for 40 minutes I finally hung up that is unacceptable.
On 9/6/17 I bought a package of men's socks #[protected] for $8.25 at store #05528 receipt # [protected] at 12:36pm..
On 10/19/17 I went into store #06134 to return the socks they rung up for $8.00 the asst. manager said they could only give me the $8.00 instead of the $8.25 that I paid according to my receipt.
I took the refund of $8.00 receipt #[protected] as I did not have time to go to the other store.
I don't understand why I could not get the full amount I paid for this item. I am very disappointed in Family Dollar.
The first store is in an affluent area as the second store is closer to a lower income area. That is sad if that is how you generate your prices...
Bottom line I would like my.25 I work hard for my money and would expect your company to behave in a reputable manner.
Thank you,
Corrie Gibbons

store manager
The store manager is very rude. She is racist against black people and disabled people she has had so many complaints. She is always treating customers and employees like they are theifs. I was an employee there and she would say this person is a drug addict or that person steals. She talks badly about employees to other employees and customers. She talks about the freeport manager Tammy like she is [censor]. Employees have quite because of the way she talks about them and says they steal. Gina Sadder should not be a store manager like I said she is a racist and she hates over weight people coming in the store. She never takes responsibility for anything it's always somebody else. I walked out on Monday because I couldn't deal with her any more. What she didn't realize was she was making fun of my family members that came in the store saying that my on cousin was a crack head. She also told me I needed to figure out what was more important my child or my job. My children will always come before a job. She claims she hates her job then she shouldn't be there. She also got mad because she couldn't figure something out so Tammy's daughter works at the Cadiz store and she called Tammy at the freeport store so she was going to write us up for calling another store manager. I understand why this store is loosing customers it's because of the store manager. I personally liked the job it's self. If something isn't done about this manager that store is going to go down very quickly. She has had customers threaten to punch her in her face. Customers call her names like chucky they have called her many names . The manager nianzha of the Warwick store is one of the managers she loves to talk about as well but acks like they are best friends Louella needs to see past her lies and realize Gina is the problem not the employees. I have more that I can say but iam done for now thank you. I do no that customers are going to be calling the better business on her as well.

behavior unbecoming for a supervisor/manager
Today is Tuesday, October 17, 2017. I have been a customer of your Soddy Daisy, TN, store for over 7 years and your long term veteran staff (approximately 3) know me when they see me and are always friendly and helpful.
At approximately 8:00 pm EST, this evening, I was shopping in this store. The cashier working was one of the long term veteran staff that I mentioned above and she was her usual friendly and helpful self and we chatted 2 or 3 times while I made my way through the store. In addition to her working at this time, there was a woman who I had not seen before, out on the floor putting up stock. We spoke briefly a couple of times while I was shopping because she almost ran into me when she was pushing stock out, to which she apologized.
I was almost finished shopping and at the front of the store when I overheard the unfamiliar woman say something to the cashier about smelling cigarette smoke. The woman then, very loudly from the front of the store, yelled out toward the rest of the store "If you have a lit cigarette, you must exit the building!" Two customers then approached the checkout and the woman looked at them and said "was it you?" They replied "no, we don't smoke." She said "Do you smell it?" and they replied "Yes, it's very strong in the back of the store." She then said "Hold on a minute..." and walked toward me. She looked at me and said, "Is it you?" I replied "No, I smoke, but I know not to light up a cigarette in a store. I'm not that stupid." and I kind of laughed. She walked past me (never going up or down an isle) turned around and came back to me and said, "If it was you then you need to leave." I told her that it was not me and she said "If it was you, then you need to go!" I asked her why she was accusing me...I wasn't in the back of the store, I was up front where she was. She said, "Because you are the only other person in the store right now." I told her "Well, I'll just pay for my stuff and leave then." She said "Now you don't need to get an attitude with me!" I told her I didn't appreciate being treated like that or talked to like she was talking to me. I then left my cart where it sat and walked toward the door. I passed the cashier who I knew from shopping there for so long and she looked at me and said "What's going on? Did you see anyone smoking?" I said "Well evidently 'she' has decided that it was me so I'm leaving." The unknown woman then said "I never accused you." I said, "you didn't come right out and say it but your tone and your attitude said it for you. I've been a customer here for a long time, you can ask the cashier, and besides I have never been called out and treated like this in my whole life, anywhere, ever!" She then started saying something loudly again as I started out the door and I turned around and said, "My first mistake was saying that I was a smoker and I'm gonna solve it all and leave. Don't worry chick, I will never darken this store's door again! You have a nice day!" I then left and drove 2 blocks to The Dollar General Store and did my shopping without incident.
This was beyond unprofessional and was just plain rude. I hope this is not the traits required to be a Family Dollar employee or even worse, a Family Dollar Supervisor or Store Manager. The gentleman who was or still is the Store Manager, is a very friendly, attentive and warm spoken person. If he isn't employed there anymore, then it is Family Dollar's loss. If this person took his place, then it is going to be Soddy Daisy's Family Dollar's demise. You don't call out a customer, speak to them disrespectfully and accusingly in a loud voice in front of other customer's and your employees. This woman needs to be gone and quickly. I can honestly say, this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my 59 years on this earth. I will not be back as long as this woman is employed there.
poor customer service
My daughter and i recently went to the new Family Dollar on Annapolis Rd in Halethorpe, Md. I stayed in the car with my grandson while she ran in to pick up a pack of pull-ups. She came out to the car empty-handed because her phone died and she needed the coupon from the app to get the sale price on the store brand pull-ups. So I attempted to get it on my phone but I was having difficulty getting it to accept my phone number. So she said go ahead and just get it without the coupon. With it the price was $4.99, without it was over $8. So since I had the money I went back in to get them. As I walked in and went to go down the aisle with diapers the girl at the front register (#1) yelled to me "You can't take that bag with you". I thought she was talking to someone else because I didn't have a bag, only my purse. Again she yelled the same thing but this time I knew she was talking to me and i said "This is my purse!" She replied that it was "too big" and I had to leave it at the front! I'm talking about a normal sized purse, not an oversized bag! I've never heard of such a thing and I told her so! She said "We do it to everyone!". However, not everyone does it! I've been to this particular store several times since it opened because my daughter lives closeby and I take my granddaughter to and from school every day! And NO ONE HAS EVER TOLD ME THAT! Now I want to know if it's your store policy to make women leave their purse at the register, not secured from theft, at the discretion of the CASHIER? And what if any are the guidelines they follow regarding size and how big is too big? Are you really laying the liability in the laps of your associates? What if someone stole my purse from behind the register? Or even worse, my medication? Who assumes the liability for that? I want to know why my daughter went in right before me with a purse roughly the same size and was NOT made to leave it at the register. Now I demand an explanation of why your cashier STEREOTYPED me as a possible thief that might steal items and stuff them in my PURSE! I was a store manager in retail for almost 30 years! I've NEVER seen anyone demand that a female customer leave her purse up front! Now if it were a backpack or duffle bag I could understand it. I'm not sure that would be legal but I'd understand it. To put the icing on the cake, when i took the pull-ups to the register they reach up over $11! I asked her why when the sign said $8.99. She asked if I had the app. This is the same one I had trouble with in the car! And I told her there was no mention of a coupon to get that price. However she wouldn't check it out just said without the app it was $11 and some change. I left the item there and informed her that I would be contacting the regional office. If this is your policy, not only will I never shop here again, but i will communicate this ridiculous policy to everyone on my friend list on Facebook, and I have a lot of friends because I cross-post animals that need adoption to save their lives. If it is not your policy, I expect that you will not only reprimand the cashier that insulted me, but will also educate your associates on stereotyping customers and the liability they are accepting once they take possession of someone's property! I appreciate your time reading my complaint and I definitely want a response from you.
Sincerely,
Tonda Hunter
the manager at the store in pleasant ave hamilton ohio
Im sending my complaint thru email because I called many times and was left on hold... So today at 9am I went to the store walked up to the door and it was still locked. So I thought maybe they will unlock it soon. As I stood there waiting a car came speeding thru the parking lot. A woman gets out walks to the door unlocks the door shuts off the alarm and the shuts and locks the door. She said absolutely nothing to me which is rude. I wait then walk back to my car. As I am waiting i watch a man in a work van take a picture of the front of the store because it's still closed. When the door was Finally unlocked she did not let anyone of us waiting know. So I go in get my items go to the register and again she says nothing to me rude again. This woman has to be the must unprofessional manger I have ever seen. Very disappointed how the store was closed during business hours how Rude the manager was to me the unreachable customer service.. In the future I will drive further down the road to Kroger because that's where I end up having to go because of All out of stock at that family dollar. I will not recommend anyone going to that one. .
store environment
I am extremely displeased with the store that is located in Harvey, La on 4th street. That store is very hot there is no air at all. The employees there are great, but I feel as though they have poor leadership. The manager there is not presentable nor is she hygiene savvy. Also the doors in the front of the store are always open as if they are broken and I think that is a dangerous security risk and also invites rodents and all type of insects to come in and infect the food I think that is a serious health risk. I have been coming to that store numerous amount of times, but I think I need to find another place to shop because last time I was there it was so hot I could barely breath.
shorted on my change very rude manager and employees
I went to the Family Dollar store to purchase air freshener and a few groceries I gave the lady the $20 bill my total was $1.35 cash. The other items covered by a different form of payment. My 7Up was flat I didn't even complain about the flat soda because I didn't feel well once I got home I realized 5 minutes later that I had been shortened by $2. I contacted the store manager Maryliyn at store number 05929 and stated that I just left your store not even 10 minutes ago and realized that I was $2 short on my change. she asked me my receipt number I provided that information she stated that the cashier had given me all of my change. I stated she didn't so she said call back in 45 minutes so she can count the draw. She stated her line was getting long and she didn't have time to count it at that moment I called back one hour and 15 minutes later in the background I heard someone state come get your little $2. I went back to the store and she stated that the drawer was only $0.07 short and she did not owe me anything. Prior to going to the store I asked her did she count the drawer and she stated yes my issue is that I've been having ongoing conflicts with the store since I lived in the area for over 10 years and I never complain but I feel like closed mouthes dont get fed and why tell me to come get the $2. Especially considering and I went to another Family Dollars in the cashier was very polite. When I walked into the store in reference they were cursing about someone having a charger plugged up behind her counter and she was sick of it also why would you tell me to come get the $2 and then can't provide the $2 when I get to the store when I ask if they have cameras she said she was busy I would not make a big deal over $2 but it is the principle I am very dissatisfied customer. When I contacted when I contacted the customer service complaint line I was on hold for over 1 hour and 20 minutes before my phone was disconnected who can I get in contact with to discuss this matter?
rude manager and unprofessional
YES I'm very upset with the Manager at the Family Dollar store #9413 her name is Joyce she's extremely rude she embarrassed my brother by saying something about she thought it was me that had shoplifting in the store she was talking In front of other customers and was not me. It was extremely embarrassing for him and for myself they stand around and gossip in the storm front of people and talk about people and I don't think that's very professional or different business something needs to be done
freezers not working, employees stealing
I am a regular shopper at the family dollar in Corning, NY, store number 4631. For about the passed 6 months or so, the freezers are completely empty, and one freezer is broke down. How can you continue to do business when the freezers are empty or not working. Also, there is an employee there thst is always on her cell phone, leaning on the counter. She had told several people thst she has stolen money from there, including cartons of cigarettes. To my knowlege, there is no security cameras. I'm thinking thst maybe there should be. I don't see how you don't notice the cigarettes missing when u have to do inventory on them. Maybe thst store needs a wake up call. Maybe it's time to do some "cleaning" of employees there. I know I won't shop in there anymore...

I am 3 months pregnant and my formal boss told me I picked a fine time to get pregnant. Now I complain about the schedule that’s it unfair. Spoke to my District manager about it. My formal boss tells my district manager that she has to go to the bathroom every five minutes and that’s why I always work at night.now if things does not want to go fair. Please let me know now. Because I feel like my boss is racist and you think just because I’m pregnant I can only work at night. I’m sorry but I really do not want to take things to legal matter. All I’m asking for is to be fair.
the store manager
I go to the family dollar on 14th st. west in Huntington WV all the time normal the manager that I deal with is a girl named Lori and she is helpful and as sweet as can be. It's normal evening with the way I work. And it's seems like every time i go in there becaue I have been able to go earlier in the day. The Store Manager Shane has been in there and if he is not yelling at her he is yelling at another employee and the off chance speak to him he is not helpful at all just right down rude. I have also notice when he will actullacty come up and help check people out he is bad mouth every employee he has. And it looks like to me he is the one that works the less. And I feel like when he comes up to help it's only with there is girls close to his age up there. At of them all in the store he should be the most mature and professional and all I see is a immature child. And you would think that would be enough but I have seen him in there on his days off or already worked that day because he is not in his work clothes and he is drunk. And that's been more then once so I wonder if that's him problem all together he is just a drunk.
store #471
Went into store to buy trash bags and had to use the restroom. The doors to the restrooms were locked. Assuming they were occupied, I waited. I asked a white lady who came out of the women's restroom after using it did I need a key to get in. She said from the cashier. I asked the cashier/manager to use the restroom and she said they didn't have a public restroom. I'm a black, disabled man. The female manager became biligerent and I walked out after being humiliated in front of customers. Pic of manager "yelling"
prepaid phones
I recently purchased a mobile phone from the local Family Dollar. The phone has a manufacturer's defect and hasn't worked since I purchased it. Getting a refund has been a difficult process as this store currently has no manager. They have been without one for 2 months now.
The first time I tried to return the phone to the place of purchase, I was advised to contact Verizon for a refund.
I went to my local Verizon store that notified me this was incorrect. I was to go back to the place of purchase for a refund, then it would be up to F.D. to get their money back from the manufacturer.
I returned to the place of purchase for a second time and notified the employee who sold me the phone of what I was told. He then said that all sales are final and he was unable to give me a refund. Another customer in line suggested I call Samsung directly, as she had the same thing happen to her with this store.
So I called Samsung. They notified me that they would be able to replace the phone under a warranty. I have since found another phone that actually works and do not need a replacement, but would like a refund. As I did not purchase the phone from Samsung directly, they directed me to go back to the place of purchase.
Why is this such a difficult process?
I feel like this store is stalling, waiting for the 14 day return period to expire, so they do not have to give me a refund.
I was harassed and banned for no reason
i moved to this area back in october. i have been a loyal customer since. i came in to my local store to grab a few household things. i was met in an aisle by a manager. she got this angry look on her face and told me i needed to leave. i was very shocked and upset. when i tried to ask why, she said she'd told me several times before not to come in . i don't think i ever even remember seeing this woman, and i definitely never had any type of confrontation with her. when i continued to try to get any kind of explanation, she called the cops. i was dazed.. i started crying.. i wanted to stay and wait for the police so i could find out what was happening. but i had to catch a bus for an appointment. but i told them i was going to pursue the incident . i am extremely upset with what has happened.. i wasn't able to get what i needed for my family. i don't have a car and i have two minors that i support. i only have a few stores that are in walking distance. the only reason she would have acted in such a way is because of a homeless man that had been banned from her store a couple months ago, i think, but it prior to my meeting him. i work in the city and i walk home around midnight. this homeless man befriended me and he walks me home every night so i don't have to walk alone with cash from serving... she must have seen us walking together? or somehow associated me with him and just doesn't want me there. but i don't think she has the right to ban me. i am a very very friendly nice person.. i've never had ANY issue with that store.. i've always even had very pleasant interactions with all asoociates. i've spent a lot of money there and planned to continue. i NEED to be able to go to this store. and i'm considering filing some kind of personal complaint if i cannot go through your office to deal with the situation. it was horrid. please help.. i've tried to call, but i get left on hold.. i have a minute phone. i need things from there today..
