I am a long haul truck driver and only home intermittently. I have always had great service in the past ie., packages delivered right to my apt door etc, which was great because my packages would be waiting for me when I got home. UNTIL my ex-wife (who just happened to be at my home picking up my kids from my mother) filed a complaint against a delivery driver for dumping a 116 lb package at the bottom of the stairs to my apartment. I do no know why the driver did not uses his hand truck to bring it upstairs, he always has in the past, that being said, since the ex-wife stuck her nose into my business, I was not getting ANY deliveries. I was able to reach a nice lady named Megan in the Rigby Idaho office (208*542*3600), and asked her why FedEx website was showing that I, personally requested my deliveries to be held until a certain date, (IDID NOT put in the request), and why, days before when I tracked a package that I was eagerly expecting, the website kept saying, failed delivery attempt, Since putting the ex on her broomstick for good, my mother moved in to help out with children, and since she does not drive, she is ALWAYS home, I also have an online signature on file that insures deliveries without anyone home even if signature is required, so obviously there were NO ATTEMPTS Megan @ the Rigby office said she could not understand why all the chaos was happening, and did not think it would be purposely done, (nice lady, but here is where I did an EYE ROLL) and she would remove the holds put on my packages that had been accumulating over a 2 week time period (held hostage more like) and have them delivered the next day. Well she was good to her word, but the driver dumped all packages OUTSIDE on the steps of the apartment building. A TOTAL of 5 packages, one of which weighed close to 120lbs. I was not aware the delivery had been made, so was surprised to get a call from my landlord saying that my packages were a safety hazard and needed to be picked up ASAP. The driver dumped on the entry steps outside not only a safety hazard but also for any of the 100 residents and children that live in the complex to steal, which has happened on 3 separate occasions when OTHER delivery companies have left things outside. Luckily I am a big guy so I went to my work place, borrowed a hand truck and brought the packages to my apt. Are all customers to be required to have hand trucks from now on? My mother is now 66 years old and cannot be expected to bring a heavy package in from outside, let alone upstairs! So I called Megan AGAIN, and requested to have any and all deliveries STOPPED to my home because I could not have the actions of a driver who acts like a petulant 2 year old causing safety hazards for the public, let alone being a detriment to my mothers health. Unfortunately, when we place orders for merchandise online, we do not get the choice of shippers so now ANY thing we order has will be returned to the merchant. As this is UNACCEPTABLE I sought out a consumer rights attorney. I was informed that there IS a "cause of action" for me against the Rigby facility, and also for a class action, based on the reviews of the Rigby Idaho Fedex facility.
I very much am against lawsuits, imo there are just too many frivolous lawsuits by money grubbing ppl, but this is NOT about money, it is about companies like Fedex allowing their ppl to play with people's lives like this! not to mention doing the jobs they were hired to do in a PROFESSIONAL MANNER! Needless to say, this is my last ditch effort to straighten this mess out!
I was also told that the lawsuit would more than likely instigate an internal investigation into the practices of the Rigby facility and also yield the name of the delivery driver. Though I would very much like to know the drivers name AND have the Rigby facility investigated, the constraints on my time is has me a bit apprehensive, BUT that is not to say that if FORCED, I will not rise to the occasion!. This WHOLE SITUATION is just RIDICULOUS! I am very sorry that the ex caused all this, but it is myself, my mother AND my children, are the ones suffering the consequences. One of the packages held for ransom was a birthday present that was 5 days late!
SOMETHING needs to be done about the Rigby Idaho Facility.

Recommendation: Do not be afraid to stand up to bullies!
