Tree trimming
On August 21st 2023, PL came to my house and butchered my tree that is on the side of my house. I see no reason or doing this, the tree was not by the power lines at all. It sits back away from the power lines on the side of my house. The chopped up the top of the tree making it look really bad. We were not notified that they were going to do this, nor did they bother to knock on the door and tell us. The left "widow makers" in the tree, they didn't completely clean up their mess, my husband had to go and try to fix and clean up what they did. the house next to me has a tree that is literally tall enough to hit the power box transformer and they didn't touch that one. It just makes no sense to me as to why they would go into someone's yard chop up a tree, leaving it look like crap and Ias the homeowner has to deal with it.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response and an apology.
Transformer box on my property
I did not and DO NOT authorize you to encroach on my property with your big transformer box. You are not allowed to use my homesteaded property!
it will lower my property value, cause damage to my lawn, shrubs and trees and pose a fire hazard!
this is an official notification; relocate to an adjacent vacant lot, but not mine!

Refund request
We built a guest house on the same property address as our primary residence. Initially, the Palm Beach County Building Department and FPL approved the guest house to have a separate service meter and underground line feeding the guest house meter. I was requested by Mary Tindall of FPL, and my builder’s electrician, to pay for this future service. I went...

FPL is a sh company not from today but for years. The stupid idiot recording keeps saying 'high volume of calls'. It is very unfortunate that there is no other power competitor in south florida to replace that mediocre incompetent company. The phone customer service is awful. I wish them hell. They mailed me a check with the also unreliable/incompetent post office never received and re issued and re mailed with that sh postal office service. They do not recognize their mistakes. Better remain in the dark and mold in the heat than using their sh service. Wish to move to another state only to skip that stupid idiot incompetent and mediocre power company.
Desired outcome: YES BY MAIL

On Aug. 11, 2023 I sent an elctronic check of $72.30 which was delived on Aug. 15, 2023. it was cashed by FPL but my account was not credited because I had inserted the wrong account number ([protected]), The correct account number is [protected]. I was sent a late payment notice which is how I discovered this fiasco. I sent a demand payment of $77.30 with the correct account number ([protected]) which included a late payment fee of $5.00.
Desired outcome: I would like FPL to credit my account ([protected]) for $72.30 and apply it to my next month ly bill
High deposit of $633.00. Due about a week after my regular bill of $430.00 is due
I have been late on my FPL bill for the last couple of months due to hardship. Trying to get caught up on everything. My wife has diabetes really bad and acute pancreatitis. Her medications have to be cold at all times so it doesn't spoil and without it can cause her to go into a diabetic coma.
Due to being late on my bill the last several months and my electric bill being high itself, seems like the bill was doubled. Now they are demanding a $633.00 deposit a week after my next bill is due which is almost $430.00. Than they want the deposit by the 28th of August in full a week later.
I can't afford that with my regular bill being so high and now them wanting a $633.00 deposit on top of that. I am barely getting by now let alone a high deposit like that.
What can I do about the deposit? I can't afford both.

Desired outcome: I would like the deposit waived. Everyone in Brevard County is experiencing a lot of hardship and barely getting by the way it is now.Especially since my wife's health isn't so well right now.
Medically essential program
I have been on FPL medically essential program for years and resent they have been asking for the medically essential application every 6 month in June I paid 250.00 and my bill was updated then the following Friday FPL turned off my power without coming to the door or calling all because my Dr didn't send in the application I had food spoil as it was over 100 degrees heat I really do need my nebulizer treatment every 4 hours and I didn't have time to use it that morning as I didn't think there was a problem with FPL I'm also on SSDI and FPL loves to double bill everyone there for creating disconnect Brevard county Florida and all of Florida needs a different power company if there's comparison then we'll have a choice at least
Desired outcome: Better communication and understanding from FPL maybe they should respond to the excessive complaints on the BBB and other places
High electric bills.
Ever since FPL took over for Gulf Power our electric bills have been doubled from last year. $485.00 is a crazy amount that we payed last month. We have never even gone over $300 for a power bill before FPL took over. We can`t afford this. I have gone without food a lot this month to save money for the next bill. I think they are taking advantage of us because EVERYTHING has gone up. From what I see on TV they have donated hundreds of dollars to different organizations, our money, that is. I pray something can be done, this is highway robbery in my mind. Seniors like me are dying from the heat ! Help us!
Deposit
I have been a customer over 10 years. I signed up for budget billing as I have with every residence. Now after being at this address over 2 years, I am being charged a deposit and the bill is over $1000. I called they stated I paid the bill late in a 6 mon. period. I wasn't aware of this policy as I have paid it late before and only paid the late fee. If I cannot afford to pay the bill on time, how can I afford a deposit. Now they are threatening to turn it off. For 6 months I have had bills over $600.
Desired outcome: Please refund the deposit. I've been a customer too long and not once have I ever not paid the bill.
Do not ask for payment extension, they will still charge you a deposit fee
I am a faithful customer, and a single mom. I always request a payment extension to make sure my power does not get cut off. I get paid twice a month, so it is difficult to categorize all by bills. I pay my light bill as soon as i get paid. Fpl will grant you a payment extension, charge you a 5 dollar late fee and then hit you with some crazy deposit amount unexpectldy. Why grant payment extensions if this is the end result. Not im 300+ dollars in the hole. This is very stupid , coming from a company that offers payment assistance.
Desired outcome: REMOVE THE DEPOSIT FEE- THIS IS TOTALLY UNNESSSECARY
The internet.
My internet has not work more then it has. When I make appointment to have service it's always 2-3weeks before I get a tech to come out. So I'm with internet again. Yet I ll have to pay for the service I didn't have. The wire system need to change but they will not address the issue. My internet is not working. No one has response to me. It has been 2 days regarding the internet not working.
No service
We had construction and an electric upgrade. This required FPL to reinstall power meters. We have now been without power 31 days. In this heat wave this is mistreatment and abuse. If our power meters are not restored in the next 24 hrs. will take this complaint even higher. This need for service was due to an upgrade in our system not a disconnection.
Desired outcome: FPL does there job and gets the power back to us.
FPL Residential Electric Service extortion practices.
This complaint is against FPL's extortion practice that has apparently been going on for years, in this case, regarding acct# [protected].
We bought a winter home in 2020 and opened our FPL account and since we are only there 6 months of the year, we chose paperless billing.
In April of 2023 we noticed a $200 fee applied to our account with no explanation and just assumed it was an error and ignored it while continuing to pay our monthly bill. After getting an email saying we are late paying our bill with a disconnection date, we contacted customer service and was told due to the fact we had been late two times in two years paying our bill a "Deposit fee" was applied to our account.
The only reason we were ever late was because the bill due dates come via email and it's easy to "not keep the email as new" and occasionally forget the payment until you get the next email saying it's late. So, having this happen two times in 2 years we are punished with a deposit fee with no warning. Even after offering to enroll in automatic withdrawals from our bank account, the CS rep told us they still would not retract the extortion fee.
This should be illegal and has resulted in having to pay this extortion fee in order to avoid our brand new property being destroyed by mold due to no air movement resulting from the termination threat of our electricity while we are 2000 miles away.
The icing on the cake was the customer service rep saying we could get our $200 back in 2 years of no late payments with 2(TWO)% interest, what a joke! This has to be illegal. Next stop is the Governor's office and anywhere else we can report this unscrupulous company and their theft practices.
Desired outcome: Immediate refund of the $202 extortion fee.
Deposit on my account after an extension that was approved by them.
Hi,
I have been a customer with FPL my whole adult life in Sarasota County.
I have asked for two payment extensions of which I have paid the one on time when they asked and am suppose to pay the other extension on July 14th.
So, I log in to my account to set up a payment for the July 14th payment and see a deposit of $431.00 added to my account on July 12th. I was not even given the chance to pay my payment extension on time.
I asked for an extension twice because my husband was in between jobs/so in between paychecks and we have fallen a bit behind in our bills. I have paid the extension that was given by FPL on time and ready to pay the other one and see this information.
I call and the reps will not work with you. They say it cannot be taken off your account you will have to pay it. I talked to an account manager, Hannah, and she said I can pay the deposit in three installments; that is additional to my monthly bill.
Having trouble paying your bill and then getting an additional bill for a deposit does not make sense. I have been in compliance with their request of payment with the extension (s). So now I still have a problem of not being able to pay as we are paycheck to paycheck kind of people.
I was not given any notice in regards to what they do in regards to payment extensions. I guess it would have been easier to just have it reinstated. I dont get it.
Again, I am 54 years old and have been a customer /resident in Sarasota county for all those years and never had this happen to me.
I appreciate the payment extension but didn't realize I would get into more debt doing that.
Please review and understand I will pay my payments if given the chance. and am only one payment behind of $220.00.
Sincerely,
Tricia Wilkins
Desired outcome: The deposit being removed from my account $431.00.
Tree trimming
FPL sent their contracted company to trim traveler palms that were recently trimmed a couple of weeks ago professionally. Not only were the Palms no where near the power line they hacked down tops of other palms for no reason. I hosting a wedding in my back yard this weekend, I can’t believe this has happened. Please help, im so upset . This has caused a lot of stress and anxiety for me.
Lights
I have addressed this several times. Only me and my husband live in my house. We both work long hours away from the home. I notice my bill is always the same from last year during the same month which is in possible.
We have a new AC
WE change the filter every 30 days
We get the AC service twice a year
The AC is turned down to 78 or 80 when we are away from the home.
We meal prep but we use the air fryer.
My bill should not be this high..
Desired outcome: Reviewing the bill
Have not received my electric statement since April 7, 2023.
My account number is [protected].
I have spoken to Customer Service no less then twice a month for the last three months asking for three months of statements now and I have received no satisfaction. They claim my service is being "evaluated" by some other Department and the Billing Department is not receiving information for billing my account. I had a considerable spike in my usage from April 10th thru May 17th which I identified and resolved. So I am missing my statements for May 7th, June 7th and now July 7th. It appears that I will be owing close to $2,000 total. I am retired and living on a limited income and must budget appropriately. will someone please help.
Desired outcome: Want my up to date Statements.
FPL Budget Plan
Fpl unfairly charges consumers on budget plans took 6 months to get a bill to average out the cost on the budget plan. After the call was told they did not have enough data to bill after 3 months. It should not take 6 months to find an average cost of the monthly bill. I received a 6 month for 1000.00. I have disputed the bill. Said they were late sending out the bill by 6 months. Now I have received this high bill consumer beware fpl budget plan is a method for them to overcharge you what ripeoff for the customer. Would be better off paying monthly cost vs budget plan. Mad as heck about this high bill switching to solar panels to cut the cost of high electrical bills.
Desired outcome: LOWER THE COST OF BILLS SHOULD NOT BE PENALIZED IF YOU WERE LATE SENDING OUT BILLS.
FPL Deposit Adjustment
I just received an email stating I will be charged a deposit adjustment of $413 dollars due this month becase for the last 2 months I received a 1 week extension to pay my bill. The bills were paid and I was unaware that accepting the extension would cause me to have to pay a $413 dollar deposit the next month! Clearly I was struggling to pay my regular bill so Im not sure how they expect me to pay my regular bill and an additional $413 this month! FPL has a monopoly because there are no other companies in my area that provie electric service so I have no other option but to not pay other bills in ordder to come up with this ridiculous deposit. My electric has not been cut off so my bills are always paid but I am still being required to pay this deposit. It is unfair and targets struggling customers. Clearly if we are asking for an extension we are struggling to pay the bill and FPL is not helping by offering an extension only to slap you with a deposit equal to 2 months bills a month later!
Desired outcome: waive this ridiculous deposit. I will do automatic payments so FPL can be sure to be paid on time but this deposit is insane!
My butchered palm trees
Hello,
I am very dissapointed with your line cleaning crew.
About a couple of weeks ago, the line clearing crew came to my door and said they would be clearing the palm fronds from my 3 Queen Palms that were near the power lines. I consented to them coming into my yard and pruning the palm fronds on the power line side. I will say that when it was all said and done, the crew did a bad job of pruning them, but I didn't complain. Instead, I've scheduled my tree guy to come out this week and clean up the mess they left behind.
To my surprise, today, 7/5/23, just roughly 2 weeks after your line clearing crew was here, I got home and noticed a bunch of palm fronds laying on the right of way in front of my home. I thought perhaps my tree guy had been here to trim the palms, but found it extremely weird that he would have left the palm fronds in front of my property as he always takes them to the dump for me.
I asked my 95 year old mother who is hard of hearing what happened. She said some people from FPL came out today to clear the FPL lines and knowing no better she let them in! As you know, palm fronds do not grow back in a couple of weeks! I am beyond upset now. I took pictures of the horrible job they did today. By the looks of it, at least one of the three palm trees is now going to die due to the fact that YOUR LINE CLEARING PEOPLE OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
WHEN MY POOR PALM TREE DIES ARE YOU GOING TO COME TO MY HOME TO CUT IT DOWN? It's going to cost a small fortune to cut down a 30' or taller palm tree. IT IS ALSO A HUGE HAZZARD NOW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HURRICANE SEASON TO LOSE THAT PALM TREE OR WEAKEN IT SO BADLY THAT IT CAN TOPPLE OVER ON TOP OF MY POOL, OR GAZEBO OR MY NEIGHBOR'S YARD!
WHERE WAS MY NOTIFICATION THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE COMING OUT TO MY PROPERTY TODAY?
I HAVE PICTURES TO SHOW YOU.
A couple of weeks ago when the Line Clearing Crew came out, they took all the trimmings with them. They didn't leave any evidence behind.
FIRE THESE PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY. THEY ABSOLUTELY DON'T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT TRIMMING TREES!
Desired outcome: Reimbursement for having to cut down my healthy palm tree due to the negligence of your Line Clearing Crew.I am traveling from Friday, July 7th to Sunday, July 30th. My email is [protected]@aol.com. My cell number is [protected]
