FPL failure to resolve old account issue
I called FPL to set up my new account for my new home at 153 Cerise Ct Daytona Beach, FL 32124. The day I set up my new account is the same day that I was clear that my wife and I was moving from a rental location of 5400 S Williamson Blvd 4-103, Port Orange, old account [protected].
My wife called FPL and a representative was unable to assist. I also called and the representative advised me that they could only back date the account a few days. My wife and I moved from the Port Orange on 10/31/22.
I find it unacceptable and truly an insult that FPL cannot resolve a very simple issue. The management of the White Palm Apartments also called FPL to confirm that we did move out on 10/31/22 and the balance due was their responsibility not mine. I received a letter today that FPL was charging the old account balance of $67.63 to my new account at my new home address. FPL does not have the authority to transfer an old account balance to a new account on a different address. It's the principle of the matter which is why I will challenge this injustice in Court if required. This is a classic failure in policy and definitely a failure in leadership!
Desired outcome: Tangible Evidence is available to authenticate that we moved out of the rental property on 10/31/22. FPL made the error by not documenting my request to close the old account when I opened the new account.
Scam
Hello. I have thought for years that FPL was "making up numbers" and it is really not hard to prove with their hourly "energy usage tool". There are many days since I live in a heavily wooded area that I will turn my AC/Heating off for the day and open the windows or have it off all day and only turn it on in the evenings. I often use Eco mode on my NEST thermostat and in neither case my "energy usage" goes down on those days when it is off. However, it is even more egregious because over Christmas during an unseasonable cold snap my heat pump went out altogether. Being Dec 23-25th there was no one to call and help. Despite it being 40+ degrees in the home we only had a fireplace and wood we found outside as a heat source. I was able to leave a vm w/ a local HVAC company and the owner called me and came out on the 26th confirming and taking my equipment with him. It was not fixed until the 27th. Honestly, not surprisingly my FPL bill went up on those days when I didn't even have a heat pump in my home. They literally make up numbers. In my "energy usage," they indicated I ran my heater all those days. Unbelievable. This is fraud
Desired outcome: I would like to be reimbursed for the fraudulent charges. I would like to hear an explanation. I have requested to have a manager call me and, of course, no one does.
60 foot plus dead pine tree resulting from fpl ian trimming from power lines
To Whom It May Concern,
FPL trimmed many high branches of a 60 foot plus pine tree in our side yard near the street that was in a power line. They trimmed it a lot on ALL sides, not just the side interfering with the power line. Since they did this this tree has died.
We are self employed and in our 60's and do not have the means or money to remove this tree. If we could even try to remove it ourselves it may come down on the power line. Or if we leave it there to fall there is a great chance it will come down on the power line.
I am requesting FPL to come out and with their crane top if off at least so we can safely finish removing it.
Please come and look at it at least. We have had an overload of expenses from Ian and if there was any way we could tackle this we would.
Thank You for your time and concern with this task.

Desired outcome: Cut off the top of a 60 foot plus Pine Tree near power line
Customer service discussion; refund and repair on January, 31,2023, 10:39 AM for 22 minutes ending with a supervisor named Ms. Ruiz
The power pole light on my driveway has been out since the last Hurricane and a request to repair was initiated on November 15, 2022 Ticket # 17347 and again on January 6, 2023 ticket # 12463. The glass protecting the bulb and the sensor was broken off during the hurricane. I have requested a refund for having no light and therefore no power usage and to get a priority on the repair. The supervisor told me that the first claim ticket was for a different address and therefore FPL had 40 days to fix the light until a refund was required. I have a written response from FPL on ticket #17347 that it was for fixing the light on driveway on 2880 Jolly St, so I do not know why it would not apply. Ms. Ruiz told me I had no other person to talk to that she was the last and highest person I could discuss this with.
Desired outcome: So i am requesting a refund for the last 2 to 3 months and a priority on the repair. A response from FPL as to the disposition and rationale is requested.
Old rusted metal door, property of fpl
Deerfield Manor Club has a rusted old door which has been scraped and painted numerous times over the years. Would like it to be replaced if possible, we believe it is beyond repair at this time. I believe these doors are the property of FPL. Is it possible to have new doors installed.
Thanks for your prompt attention to this matter
Robert Clarkson (president - Deerfield Manor Club)
Desired outcome: New doors to replace old metal doors
Smart meter / road transformer
New construction, home ready to go, us1 & 232 Ventrue HOMES Builder.
FPL delay no smart meter nor road transformer available to install
We have lost our financing and have been asked to move out of our temporary living arrangement now what?
No news no scheduled date of install no communication between FPL and the builder
I can be reached at [protected] Enrique Gonzalez...
Desired outcome: Simple, rush install meter even old temporary meter.
Destruction of private property
I have entered a claim #90530 and this is by no means any shade on the account agent Melissa. It has to do with your abusive boderline obnoxious policy with regards resolution. One of your trucks, witnessed by 6 neighbors, ran over my property causing serious destruction in order to change out a transformer. I understand what the truck driver did, not my problem but the follow up resolution of the issue puts all the burden on the private property owner. We are forced to get quotes, you make it impossible to do the work yourself because of your "no pay for labor" policy, owner of property.
I am 75 years old, very bad heart, and the overall stress of this process is very bad for me. To add to my issues with FPL, my homeowners association is giving me issues because the property looks so bad. With are snowbirds and did not get to Florida until 12/29. We immediately started the process that FPL specified. This is again no issue Melissa but I want to talk to someone in authority that can answer my questions as to why I have to feel this stress when I have zero culpability. If noone will talk to me because of lack of concern for customer satisfaction, can you at least acknowledging receiving this email.
Desired outcome: Authorize the "quote" in its entirety, so that I can get into their queue for doing the work which is over 6 weeks from now
Temporary pole still not hooked up after months
I have been trying to have my temporary pole hooked up since November I have talked to Edward Alexis who was in charge of dealing with that I contacted him December 12th 2022 he told me it should have been hooked up December 6th 2022 it is now January 4th 2023 I am still waiting to have my temporary Pole hooked up when I contacted him yesterday January 3rd told him I still did not have my pole hooked up he told me that they had extra workers coming in but they're still not a priority to hook up my pole I just want my temporary pole hooked up what is the problem with the workers with FPL? I want this resolved immediately.
Desired outcome: I want my pole hooked up immediately
Electric bill
Although we have tesla solar panels and usually have a bill of approximately $50 in nov. Are bill was $240 and dec. $190. And we are using less energy - less air conditioning and no lights on the exterior of the house. Our neighbor also saw her electric bill become excessive to $200. Oo in nov. My husband requested that fpl come to our homes and see what is not functioning properly or fpl to explain this to us and our neighbor and they refused.
Desired outcome: We are requesting that a FPL technician come to our homes and investigate the problems resulting in high electric bills.
Energy panels in campground
I have lived next door to FPL in St. Johns campground in East Palatka for 34 years and my breakers are hardly ever updated and several appliances inside have been struck by lightning over the years I had to replace and my electric pane l board inside trips off when I use small amounts of energy for things I need my parents say they pay 10 a month for a electric current box that lets them use all kinda energy for 3 refrigerators and 2 TV's and hot water heater all the time I can barely run 1 in mine without the breakers tripping off I and the new owners of this campground are from New Jersey and they are not aware of these things and previous owner would never call with account number and let you know of these issues is ther anyway you can do something of this sincerely for other campers in here the office runs all kinda appliances such as 3 washing machines and 3 dryers drink machine pool pump 2 shower rooms I want use the campgrounders to have some energy and not be worried of out appliances burning out and lightning striking those thank you have a nice day
We need current protection and lightning adaption from these bad storms we have in Florida and being able to use some energy for our appliances not just the office in our campground and breakers updated occasionaly I have had the same 1 for like 30 years on a 3 box board in St.Johns campground in East Palatka Florida 436 Highway 17 South U.S.32131 Thank you
Outrageous deposit charge after years of service
I received a letter in the mail that states a deposit is required of $795.00. on top of my FPL bill which would make my total. $1,205.67. This is Outrageous and anyone can see that this is predatory billing. The worst part about this is that I can't go to a competitor because FPL has a monopoly on the electric market in the state of Florida. There isn't another competitor to help keep these prices in check. I have 3 children and the month of December already comes with its financial challenges. This deposit is now due in January 2023, after more than a year of service with FPL. This needs to be addressed and handled quickly. The CFR makes it clear in section {15 U.S. Code § 2 - Monopolizing trade a felony; penalty}., this is illegal.
Title 15 U.S. Code § 2 - Monopolizing trade a felony; penalty
Every "person" who shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any other person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony, and, on conviction thereof, shall be punished by fine not exceeding $100,000,000 if a corporation, or, if any other person, $1,000,000, or by imprisonment not exceeding 10 years, or by both said punishments, in the discretion of the court.
this is important
A "person", for legal purposes, is generally more broadly defined to refer other than just a natural person. A person may also include a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association or society. For example, when a company incorporates, it has standing as a legal person to sue and be sued in courts of law. The precise definition of a person may vary by state and applicable laws.
Desired outcome: To remove this deposit as it has been over a year.
Street street light down in neighborhood
Called in a report October 17 that there was a downed street light with live wires. Nothing was done for several weeks. An FPL truck came and removed the post and put caution tape up and left it again for over six weeks. I have called repeatedly and have never received a return call. In addition, our management company has called several times. It’s now been TEN weeks without it being resolved. The neighborhood is concerned about safety since the wires are sitting in a water filled area and workers are afraid to mow lawns near there. One account number used is [protected] and 11/30 ticket number was 41540.
Desired outcome: Street light replaced. We are requesting nothing additional other than the light be restored to what was there before it broke off
Deposit placed on our residential account
We have had an account with FPL for almost 5 years. We have always paid the bill on our FPL account, whether it's been $160 or $250. Why are we being charged for a deposit in the amount of $414? We've never had our home reconnected or our lights turned off. Nor have we opened a new account. Our bill for January of 2023 is over $600! This needs to be resolved quickly.
Desired outcome: For deposit amount to be removed from account balance
Excessive deposit charge - federal trade commission and fl public service commission
I have a credit score of 740+ and provided a letter of credit from previous utility company showing I have never missed a payment since start of service 3 years ago. I have also enrolled in auto bill pay. Any reasonable utility company would waive excessive fees given this information.
I am being charged a $500 deposit to start service. FPL claims waiving of deposit is based on Equifax credit score. After speaking with Equifax directly - EQUIFAX is also confused and concerned why FPL would require such an excessive deposit with very good credit status.
FPL customer service is unable to tell me what the exact credit score requirements are! FPL customer service always answers with an unhelpful standard script and is essentially useless. FPL customer service would not forward my call to anyone of importance. Florida Power and Light does not care about their customers.
Why are FPL employees or website not able to provide the exact credit score cutoff required to waive $500 deposit? My guess is such waiving does not exist by business design. Florida Power and Light — What a RACKET!
FPL is not being transparent with consumers about their policies for fees/deposits and the Federal Trade Commission and Florida Public Service Commission should get involved.
NextEra Energy, Inc. — Jim Robo the CEO — Florida Power and Light — are abusing Americans in the State of Florida.
Desired outcome: Waive $500 service deposit from my FPL account because of excellent credit score/utilities payment history. Also provide information on the exact credit score requirements for waiving deposits.
FPL did in fact take the deposit requirement off of my account after reaching out to them via multiple email addresses and other contact forms. FPL showing signs of being empathetic. Maybe there is hope for FPL turning things around in Northwest Pensacola after all. BE PERSISTENT PEOPLE!
I know of some1 who successfully had deposit waived by doing the following:
1. enroll in FPL auto pay
2. provide letter of credit from previous utility company showing no late payments
3. send a very strongly worded email stating you are enrolled in auto pay, provide the letter of credit, your equifax credit score and for good measure mention filing complaints to Florida Public Service Commission and Federal Trade Commission. Send emails to Gulf-FPC-Forms@fpl.com AND Forms@fpl.com
The more compaints customers of FPL send the better! These people at FPL are CROOKS - they are running an ILLEGAL RACKET to obtain deposits from customers in order to initiate/retain service. This is EXTORTION!
Florida residents need to vote in elected officials who will work to open up the energy market in Florida! Florida Power and Light is the MAFIA!
Did you ever find out what credit score was the minimum for waiving the deposit? My equifax score is 759, I’m a past FPL customer with no history of late payments, and my utilities have never been cut off. Yet they just charged me a deposit of almost $600.
Line Inspection as Requirement for Rooftop Solar Initiation
My contractor has advised me that he has applied for a line inspection more than two weeks ago, as a condition to finalizing my rooftop grid tied solar system. But no one comes to open up the meter and allow the line inspection to take place.
I have had solar at another location in the past and never had to wait as long as this. I have called three different numbers and finally was told that there is no number for this request and no one to talk to about why this isn't being done.
What am I supposed to do to activate my solar panels which cost over $20000.?
Desired outcome: Follow up with the opening of the can to allow final inspection and then follow up with a reversable meter.

Desired outcome: write me back
Acount [protected], why you inrol me in budget billing, you sand me email and I wrot no thanks and without my permision you inrolet me, why you don lissen what costomer say? I was paing 36.00 $ and you rise my bill 5 dolars and I was 4.5 monts out of the country where is the noney what I was not using electrisity.?
Demand for Deposit
I've been an FPL customer for 23 years, never missed a payment, EVER. Today I received a letter telling me that I need to pay a $394 deposit because "several payments have arrived late." Yes, I have paid my bill an average of 3.6 days late in the last six months. At max, 8 days late. And I tacked their $5 late fee on every payment that was late, without them having to bill me the next month for it. I am a very busy professional paid once a month, and sit down to pay my bills when I can finally find the time. Sometimes it's a few days after their ever changing due date. However, they get their money every single month without fail, and have for 23 years. The most I've ever been late with a payment is 8 whopping days. I have an 800 credit score, have never missed a payment on anything. I'm insulted and I refuse to pay this. I'll be filing a complaint with the Florida Attorney General.
Desired outcome: Remove deposit from my bill immediately
Deposit Demand
I've been an FPL customer my entire life. I have never missed a payment, and today I got a letter stating they want $573 for a deposit and have already added it to my bill this month. We are in the area that was affected by hurricane Ian and have been struggling to pay for repairs, between that and this being Christmas, the timing of their DEMAND is horrible!
I am a senior and my 98 year old mom lives with me. How we are supposed to come up with an extra $573 right now is causing major distress!
FPL is truly the GRINCH that stole Christmas and I am very disappointed that they would treat lifelong customers this way.
We can not afford it and worry that now they will shut our electricity off!
Desired outcome: Removal of the $573 deposit
By the way I could not get a live person on the phone at FPL to speak to about this!
Deposit Demand
Today 12/7 i pulled up my bill and noticed that I had a deposit added that was over $500. I have sometimes been late and had some late fees but have ALWAYS paid my FPL bill even when we were unemployed during covid and my husband was sick with covid in the ICU. Everything has gone up and of course we don't make enough to get any assistance we can't just come up with an extra $500. Their auto pay and due dates are always very difference then pay dates and while i'm sometimes late I always pay it.
I sat on hold for 2 hours, spoke to a rep who had zero idea what she was doing then asked for a supervisor for over an hour...
FPL does NOT care about their customers...i could see if i have multiple disconnects and was trying to get service...just trying to stay afloat.
Desired outcome: I will not ask for a payment extension again if you remove the deposit. I HAVE ZERO WAY to pay the deposit.
FPL Residential Utility Bill
I have had the same account open for over 1.5 years and have auto bill enabled. I am gainfully employed as an engineer and have been the entire time that I have had this account open. Out of the clear blue sky and just in time for the holidays, FPL decided to bill a deposit for $429. I was not given any reason for this other than, we hold the right to do so when I called customer support. I feel that given the lack of reasoning this is just a corrupt money grab for the company. Very Ver Very unhappy with FPL. They also made it illegal to produce your own power off grid because they are thugs. Also, expect another 13% increase in your utilities over the next year. That has already been approved.
Desired outcome: I would like the deposit bill to be reversed and for me not to owe that amount on my account.
