Damaged concrete driveway
After Hurricane Sally made landfall on 16 September 2020, Gulf Power (now FPL) sent contractors to replace a broken power pole to restore power on our property. The contractor's heavy equipment crushed nearly my whole concrete driveway and dug a 7-to-8-foot pit that needed to be filled in. The contractors advised us to file a claim with Gulf Power. Gulf Power sent an adjuster to the property 10 months later and asked that we fill out the claim form and send in 2 estimates for the repair. I have sent emails, letters and even text messages to the company. I only received calls from a company rep that was only going to fill the pit, but not the ruts dug by the constructor's heavy equipment tires. We are now 2 and a half years later without a resolve. I saves texts, emails, claim form, estimates, and phone calls and know of 2 FPL names to prove my case for anyone to see.
I would include all of the documents, but this platform does not accept pdf files.
Desired outcome: We want FPL to repair the damage or send a check for $20,000 so that we can hire contractors to fix the damage. We would also like someone from FPL to contact us. We can be reached at [protected] and [protected]@msn.com.

Deposit requirement
Re: Florida Power and Light residential deposit requirements and policies
To whom it may concern:
I am writing you regarding Florida Power and Light’s (FPLl) deposit policy for residential service in Paln Beach County, Florida. Like millions of people in the United States and hundreds of thousands of people in Florida, I have been impacted by the slow economy. In addition, I had major surgery that resulted in over $100K in medical bills
My specific area of complaint is FPL's current policy to charge a deposit up to 2 times an average monthly bill for “delinquent”, “at-risk”, “problem” customers. Their policy is to penalize Florida residents for late payments, returned checks, and non-payment on their electric bill. In my specific case to avoid “interruption” of my service (Turning out the lights until payment is received) resulting from current intermittent financial hardships, I am required to make a “deposit” of $690.00. Ironically, my inability to pay my $355.00 bill several months ago that has long been paid, now requires a deposit of $690.00 that I do not have. As a resident of Palm Beach County, Florida, I have no alternatives for electricity providers. Essentially, I am a victim of a monopoly that has a profound negative impact on FPL customers and Palm Beach County Florida residents.
I have been an FPL customer for over 22 years and never had this problem until this year.
Desired outcome: I would like this deposit requirement reduced or removed.
Placement of new power pole.
A new pole has been placed at the corner of McGregor Blvd and Martin Dr. Ft Myers Fl. 33908
It has been placed in a way that has made it very difficult to turn on to Martin Dr coming from the south, No longer able to pull off road and out of traffic to let out going cars turn off martin Dr. It has made this intersection very dangerous. This is a one lane dirt road. No room for 2 cars now with new pole.
This is going to cause accidents! Hopefully not fatal ones. No one should have their lives put in danger like this.
Desired outcome: Move pole further off right of way!
Digging in front yard
On March 20th, FPL started digging in my front yard to complete who knows what. I was not asked for permission or given warning, the only reason I know its FPL is because of the FPL flags in the ground. Not only have they dug up my front yard about 2 feet behind my mailbox without consent but they also managed to cut my internet line, so now I will be without home services that require internet like monitoring my alarm system but it will be a week before the internet company can send a technician out to fix the problem. This is ridiculous and the most unprofessional situation I have experienced. I guess because yall are a monopoly on power in the area, y'all can do what y'all want!

Desired outcome: For you to address the situation
Pole placement damage to property
On 11-25-22 between the Hours of 8am an 11am FPL contractors were here and while placing tie down cables on poles a contractor truck backed up on my driveway causing major damage, I have had cable and ATT here as well and all state that it was an FPL contractor that caused the damage, I have video of the trucks here that day. I would like an end to this run around and want the damage repaired before I have to get my attorney involved.
Desired outcome: repair damaged driveway asap
Refund over charge
I do have account with FPL and closed the account - I received statements of credit $167 however I never received the credit - FPL have my bank account number and can send me the credit or mail me the check? I try to call them to get the refund however I have to speak to account specialist and I was on hold for hours no one answer. How I can receive my refund?
Down power lines and tree trim
Hello, We are a local builder getting ready to build on our lot at 5655 Hale Road Venice Fl. 34293. Parcel ID. No. [protected]. On the lot to the left parcel ID No.
[protected] there is a pole that has electric lines hanging from it since hurricane Ian and trees surrounding it that need to be trimmed. We need to send our crew in to clear the lot however they will not clear it until FPL handles the electric and tree trimming first.
Desired outcome: We would like the electric lines taken off the ground and repaired and the trees around the pole trimmed.
Excessive Billing
Dear Sirs:
Please forward to the new CEO of FPL Mr. Armando Pimentel. My name is
John W. Gaines, FPL account - [protected]

North Miami, Fl. 331854
Ever sine your installation of Smart Meters which you control, my bill pre installation at most was $50.00-$75.00, now it appears say two years ago
averaged $120.00-$145.00. I guess you AI meters assumed if i can afford
those bills let's push his bills to average $170.00 and of course justify the
increase. Well, since the early days of February, I have not used the A/C as
it is broke. But my bill due 15Mar is $172.58? Probably, more insulting than
the bill is your solar advertising and how FPL is going to bring our future bills down. I think we both know FPL's only concern is to it's shareholders. I want
to see my bill sliced in half and if i have to do at 76 years of age without the A/C so be it.
Cordially yours,
John Gaines
Desired outcome: Reduce our billing cost.
Net metering approval delays
I applied for net metering approval on Jan 15 application was rejected on Feb 3 stating permit was not matching address . That is not true apllication as is was resumitted on Feb 3 then rejected on Feb 22 of insurance coverage this was also included on original appication on Jan 15 then it was resumitted of Feb 22 and rejected again today stating insurance needs to match name on electric bill. I have made over 30 calls to no avail , no body ever response there is no point of contact and now it is obvious the FPL is obstructing access to people converting to solar energy . Now still paying electric and solar loan. This is cruel and a abuse of power .
Desired outcome: APPROVAL MY NET METERING APPLICATION!!! Account # 6038250400Application 11166
Electric
I called in November about a Landlord Acct. Just to find out today that i never had a landlord acct. This is not OK, This customer service h been garbage from the beginning. To add salt to injury i cant even go into a location to speak to everyone, every time i call nothing is placed in the noes. Ive given my email multiple times. today i was told no email on file, incorrect mailing address. Seriously, what is going on with this company? I was never told i needed a form sent to participate with a landlord agreement. Also, what is the difference with landlord agreement and landlord account? i was told today that is 2 different things.
Desired outcome: funds returned for deposit. I initially applied for landlord acct in November when i Caled. I am also requesting for calls to be pulled for the lack of comprehension taking place.
Underground power not to my home
I've been chasing FPL and group for over 7 weeks now. they buried the power in our neighborhood. However, since apparently wasn't home last year when they put it underground the contractors brought the underground service only to our back pole. hence, I still have service from the pole to my riser.
No one would give me a reason why.
I am attempting to get FPL to bury the line the rest of the way to our home as they showed in their fliers etc at no cost to the homeowner. I have been told it's my responsibility at my cost to do so. They have indicated as I slowly pulled pieces of information from a person named Kyle [protected] . He has been more helpful than the previous person who indicated she was digging into it but then stopped communicating. I do not know her name.
I have left 2 messages now to a John Lupue of FPL and have received no responses.
I also have left messages via email for a Dbrown [protected]@bowmanconsulting.com from a consulting company and that person has never responded to me. As I understand this person has moved onto another project.
Bottom line is FPL is stating they are no longer in our area and are unwilling to provide the promised service. The only reason I have found out about this problem as FPL never attempted to contact me as the homeowner during their construction time was I am investigating putting a roof on my home. And was doing my due diligence. Note I am not in residency during the summertime. However, FPL has my contact information.
I received reasoning's for non-connections from damage to a wall originally. Then after a few more weeks something about equipment than a note about our concrete poured around the electric box.
I have contacted an electrician in regard to just replacing the riser with a higher one and reconnecting than to an updated electric box. However, they have indicated that more than likely FPL may require us to end up with the wire underground.
So why spend the $'s on setting up above the roof line if FPL will require.
No one talks to us no one has a response no one comes to the home to explain what exactly is needed. How as a consumer is one supposed to navigate this without input from the power company.

Desired outcome: put power underground per FPL's promise at no cost to the homeowner and coordinate with my electrician when and where needed.
Damaged sprinkler system
While FPL was installing new power lines on Del Haven Drive in Delray Beach they damaged some sprinkler zones. Where you put the large concrete boxes with covers You "cut" off (literally) a 11/2 inch supply line. We have a sprinkler company attempting to trace the other end which ran directly into your box. The entire zone has dead grass, some you installed. Many heads are buried or missing. The association should not be expected to carry this cost.
Harbour Pointe Condominium Association. We endured the construction, now please finish on a high note.
For the Board
Desired outcome: Pay for the entire repair and replace the dead grass with disease resistant sod
A deposit charged to my account
Today I am trying to file my complaint to as many complaint sites as I can find against Florida Power and Light. I tried to reason with the manager who works for FPL on 02/28/23 but unfortunately, she hung up on me. My issue is with the deposit that has been charged to my account. I received a letter stating that because I was late on 2 payments over period of 6 months that I would owe a hefty deposit to keep from turning off my electric. This was extremely concerning; I went to my account online to see if I had any other option's and learned that if I enrolled in automatic payments the deposit would be waived. This is what I did, but deposit was reduced not waived. I spoke with the same manager who refused to honor what was stated in black and white online. I explained due to hardship of Hurrican Ian I cannot afford the deposit but would opt for auto pay. Without any compassion told me no if I didn't make the deposit power will be turned off! No other options...This company is our only power source I feel that FPL is monopolizing the public. I have no outstanding balances and feel the $747.00 deposit should be waived as stated as I am willing to do auto payments. Furthermore, the CEO of this company should be ashamed of raking in millions of dollars on people! Electric rates are high enough and in our economic times it would be nice if this were noticed. By choosing auto pay they are guaranteed their money. Even though the manager I spoke to was nasty towards me she still agreed that this policy is not right, and she does not agree with it but has to follow what overhead tells her. When asked her explanation on charges she said its based off last 2 months. Even if I had agreed to pay this crazy deposit my last 2 bills did not total this amount. They are as follows 02/16/23 $141.02- 01/18/23 $242.45 totaling $383.47. She couldn't explain why deposit is so high. Since having FPL I have asked for paper statements to keep better track of when my bill is due and have still never received one. In my opinion just another trap into hoping the customer will be late enough times to charge this deposit to the account. I was hoping to come to a reasonable decision with this company. I would like my deposits waived and enroll in auto pay as I feel the deposit is unfair and unethical. I mean to turn off someone's power when they have no actual money due on their usage?. This is what was stated online it was seen by myself and the rep. but she only wants to abide by the letter that was sent. As I sit here in tears in a mold infested home that has been destroyed by Hurrican Ian. I am not only fighting my insurance to pay for damages along with dealing with doctors appts. due to mold in my husband's lungs, im now dealing with this! Im not denying that I've been late on some pmts almost everyone has. People make mistakes we sometimes face financial difficulties, but I personally have paid what I owe and I have no outstanding balances or late fees. I owe nothing to this company but this large deposit that makes no sense! I will continue to have my voice heard and will take this matter as far as I can. My next step is speaking to the Attorney General.
Desired outcome: I would greatly appreciate that all deposit fees are waived from my account. I am willing to enroll in auto pay.To be more conscious in the way your customer service treats customers. for sure not hang the phone up on someone. Be kind
Service personell replacing meters unannounced
A man holding a device was on my property, so I went outside to see if he needed help. No logo shirts or identifying company info, nothing to indicate who he is or why he is on my property. He stated that he was an FPL contractor with nothing other than a badge that could be printed on many home printers was standing on my property (received camera alarm notification). He indicated that he had to replace my electrical meter in the middle of the afternoon (Iwas in the middle of a 50 min download and the man indicated he had to switch out the electric meter, he informed me he was not an electrician, I asked him to leave my property as the only FPL item he could provide was a flimsy badge. he stated that FPL would just send someone else and charge me for it. I ask to at least let me call and validate, he said you could try but you will be on hold for ever and that he would have to leave as he only had so much time to complete. After much debate and conversation, I let him complete the work. Before pulling the old meter, I had to stop him and tell him to shut of the breaker to the house (main right next to the meter). He said he didn't need to. I HAD TO EXPLAIN TO HIM that if there is heavy load on the circuit, arc may occur and surge to my sensitive electrical components (OMG Really). Likely why FPL is advertising installation of surge protection for a charge. After he left I call to validate who this man was. They did indicate I was supposed to have a meter replaced, but indicated they had nobody scheduled for that day, They also indicated that the meter he installed was not the meter they had on file to be installed. I work for a company that is frequently supports live Surgery and HemoDialysis applications in a hospital. Had FPL just powered off without notice while logged in to one of those applications. You can imagine. A bit irate of their policy I called multiple times and spoke with FPL representatives and ask that they call or schedule with me opposed to abruptly shutting down my home. Got the same speech from all... "The meter is our property, we can replace / pull it at any time without notifying you." I called another time to find out how can I be notified as I need to, and the only agreeable solution with only one of the FPL reps, was that I lock out FPL from access to the meter and place a note indicating to contact homeowner. I will have to do that at my own expense. Also, the contractor told me that I own the box that their meter resides. So based on his statement and that of the representative on the phone, It's my box and those silly little tags that prevent tampering are irrelevant. So, I will be locking My box from access of FPL so they don't perform an avoidable unscheduled shutdown at my home unannounced when I am doing critical work.
Desired outcome: A simple courtesy phone call to schedule a power shutdown at my home.
late fee
On today's date, 2/23/23, I rec. an email from your co. stating that my bill has been revised and a charge of $511 was added to my bill. After much difficulty, I was finally able to reach a rep, who advised me that because my payment was late 3x's, whether it was hours or days, I was penalized. I checked my bank account and payments were made and processed in a timely manner. This exercise by your company is both juvenile & criminal! To treat a cust. in this manner, who pays their bill in a timely manner, is wrong especially during current times when inflation is at a high! This $500 could have been used to put food on the table for a family of 7. It could have been used to pay for heat for a month for a family of 7, but instead it will be utilized to pad the pockets of the executives of a company that thrives on robbing the poor to pay the rich! Your company should be embarrassed to follow this practice!
Desired outcome: Please refund me the $511 (or total fine) fine that has been added to my bill
Street lights
We have 8 street lights that are out which is causing a safety concern for residents at night and for children that are walking to their bus stops in the dark. Here are the ticket numbers we need these to be expedited:
53643, 56818, 53965, 53967, 53966,53954, 53969, 54297 some of these have been open since Hurricane Ian. Any questions call me [protected] Joe Fabrizio
Desired outcome: fix the lights and i would appreciate an update [protected]@gmail.com or [protected]
Construction damage
My home in Sebastian, Fl has recently had electrical service moved to underground. During this process the drain in the swale in front of my house was destroyed during the excavation and then removed along with the grading necessary for proper drainage. The result of which has created a swamp like environment on my lot. Through a very tedious process I eventually reached someone from FP&L who sent a representative to assess the damage. He told me that the whole are needed to be graded, new sod placed and a new culvert liner installed replacing the one that was removed. He also advised that I would hear from FP&L in the coming weeks with a schedule for completion. That was several months ago. The initial underground service project started in the Spring of 2022 with completion the beginning of 2023.

Disconnection of power and also return payment fee after I was told to stop payment on it
Disconnection of power and also return payment fee after I was told to stop payment on it due to the fact that the payment was applied to wrong account. OK so from the beginning in December I had an issue with my power being disconnected after I had made a payment arrangement the same day and was guaranteed it wouldn’t. You guys apologize profusely the next morning and even though all of my food was ruined would not replace it, but I was able to get my power on the next day because of the form that was filed by the customer service representative. I was then contacted by someone that was from the insurance claim department who basically told me that they would not replace my food even though it was completely Florida power and light fault. I believe his name was Mike Gonzalez. No in January I had the same issue with the account number pulling up only one account and it applied the payment to the wrong account when I made it on January 3. I immediately contacted customer service and was told to stop payment on that through my bank, to make a new payment after the account number was fixed and that I would not be charged any type of fee that they would waive the fee for the stop payment or returned item. Oh I get my power bill and I realize that I was still charged that $30. So of course I contact Florida power and light again. At this point I come in contact with the rudest account supervisor named Jasmine who informed me that the notes were never put in the file and that they were going to do anything to help me. No I wanna know why I’m being punished because you guys messed up. Me and my 10 year old son sat without power for almost 48 hours and all of our food was ruined the same day that I went to the grocery store as well as I’m getting charged 30 extra dollars for something I was told to do by your company. I would like my $30 fee waived like I was told originally before I even did the stop payment as well as I want to know what ever happened with my claim for my food. I think this is reasonable and something that should’ve been done without me even asking
Desired outcome: $30 stop payment fee waived, as well as my food being replaced.
Outage
I live in Charlotte harbor every other day the lights are out every other day I wake up and I can't get ready for work because there's no lights my electric bill is over $300 every month what are you doing with my money I have a street light since the hurricane that's been out that I've called multiple times because it's right in front of my house and it gives me safety no one's coming fixed it and now I'm sitting here in the dark and I need to be to work and I can't because I have no candles and I have no lights you charged me $300 or more a month for life and every other day I'm waking up no lights why is that fair
