Today at 13:08:46 I tried to get food through wic and only grabbed items marked "wic" as I thought thats what was supposed to be wic applicable but apparently thats not true at all and completely misleading to customers. To begin with Food City 1% Milk and Food City Whole Butter Milk are the best tasting I can find in any store. I and some of my Friend & Family go out of our way to always purchase this milk.
But NO MORE! Not unless they change back to the jugs with the loop type handles. The new jugs have an indention to help hold the jug and I suppose in theory this should be fine. IT IS NOT!
It is almost impossible for a grown up being very careful to pour from these jugs without spilling the milk everywhere. Older Children and Teens? Just forget it. At at least 1/3 of the jug of milk ends up in the floor and all over the counters. Especially when opening the jug of milk and actually most of the time till 1/3 of more of the milk is used: It is impossible to not squeeze the jug and make milk shoot out of the top.
Evidently whoever designed the jug never pours milk and their children must have someone else doing it for them or they wouldn't even consider a jug like this.
We won't be buying their milk till the jugs are changed back to have controllable handles.
Of course since we won't be buying the milk there is no reason to go the extra effort to SHOP FOOD CITY.
front end manager disrespect for employees/customers
I am an employee of food city #839 for almost 2 and a half years! I absolutely love my job and my customers... But we have the most rude and plain out disrespectful front end managers not only to employees but also customers. (customers may not see their disrespectful remarks but us cashiers do and I am sick of it) I have been smarted about my schedule, they roll their eyes if they have to come and void something and also just plain lazy! I am a hard worker and I try my best to earn my pay! I do not like it when the other 5 cashiers and fems are all huddled up chatting with each other while I check every person out and bag their items because we also hardly ever have baggers... And when you try to send a customer or tell them they need to check somebody out then it's the end of the world for them and they act like i'm the one that can't do my job. They have already had complaints on these managers and the store manager won't do nothing about it because "he has to have those people because we are short staffed." I have seen, heard and dealt with to much and i'm fed up. If something doesn't change I quit! Ps: these managers have worked there 1 and a half years tops if that and they are managers...

My cashier did not greet me in a polite manner. Matter of fact, she didn't greet me at all. The first thing she said when I arrived at her cash register was "Value Card" in a distasteful tone of voice. The first thing a cashier should say to their customer is "Hi, how are you? Did you find everything okay? Do you have a Value Card with us?". Tracena from Store #: 645 failed to do so, and I did not have a good Food City experience because of my interaction with her. Mind you, I am not from this town and her first impression was all I needed to shop at a different location.

I work at the food city store number 604 in eastern plaza Newport, TN. I Have been with this company for a while and i just got a promotion to a Front End Manager about 12 days ago, I have only received 3 days of training, (I work Full time)Everyone else around me gets all the training they need. When i first started they had no shirts in my size. They gave me a shirt to wear that is so big, It is uncomfortable to work in. I still have no gotten a Light blue manager shirt in my size so I am still wearing my extra large navy blue shirt that is way too big on me that it makes it uncomfortable to work in, I have asked them a few times about ANY shirt my size and they keep telling me they do not have one in my size, They have not even ordered me a new one. I have not got a safe code or finger print to get into that yet, I don't think i received anything i was suppose to since i have started this position, Another girl that started right after i did has gotten everything she's suppose to have so i know it is possible to do so. I do not want anyone in trouble, All I want is to have what I'm suppose to so i can do my job to the best of my ability. I would rather not say my name just that they need to give their employee's everything needed to do their job the best they can do it. Thank you for your time.

Went to get a phentermine prescription filled using a good rx coupon & it was denied based on the fact that it was a controlled substance. I called & spoke with good rx & was told that yes it is the pharmacist decision whether to accept the coupon on controlled meds however I know of 2 other people that had the same script filled within the past 2 weeks & coupon was accepted. Just curious as to what the decision to accept or deny is based on if there are no concrete guidelines then how can your company not be concerned about discrimination complaints. If you are not going to accept the coupons then they should not on the website. I do not use the pharmacy alot as I'm rarely sick however I do shop at your store in galax & independence frequently &would like to continue to use the pharmacy as it is convenient but I will not if certain customers are treated differently for no apparent reason. Att the Food City on 35th Avenue and Glendale, while picking up a few items Sunday April 14, 2019, because it's so close to my home, the overhead announcements for their Shoppers were broadcasted only in Spanish. When I asked the cashier if she spoke English she said no. Another girl stepped up I asked her if she spoke English and she kind of said very little. Yet, when I asked why the overhead announcements are in Spanish only, all of a sudden her English improved immaculately. She looked at me and said "do you think we know?" "ask our corporate office." When I asked her why everyone claims to not speak English she replied "because we don't have to"...her name, she said, is Olivia. Well, if everyone at this Food City doesn't speak English..then I have contacted ICE and an attorney to help me in a discrimination suit. In a country where we translate everything into Spanish, the grocery store tells me they don't have to speak English much less translate their overhead announcements into English, that is when I am going to take action as an American. Do what you want with this information, however my efforts are already in motion. I highly suggest you change your language policies. I feel I am discriminated against in my own country. My attorney agrees., and we are considering a precedent lawsuit. Food City is a very large chain and I'm sure has lots and lots of money and if you're adamant about discriminating against the English language, I will be more than happy to acquire your assets through a legal lawsuit. Because THIS is America, and I can!

Something needs to be done with Preston Douglas and Carolyn(store manager). They verbally abuse their employees. They belittle them to the point, one has already threatened suicide. BULLYING!It was like this before someone decided to change management. WAKE UP, IT IS NOT WORKING! BULLYING does not go in schools and should not go in the workplace.
Keep on letting people be bulled an treated that way by your so called managers that run these stores an see if legal action isn't taken against you someday you better clean up your stores I've seen some of the complaints and this bulling has to stop and also seen in person in your galax store makes me not want to come back
instacart delivery
I have used instacart since April . I have never had any major problems or complaints till yesterday. First it wouldn't take my card, I called the 800# and was told my account was locked and I had to wait 24-48 hours to place my order. I call back and am told its a bug in the system, and someone will get back to me I n48 hours. So I finally on my own get the order to go, delivery was 4-5. The last few times I have used the service, it seems several items are "out of stock" . Yesterday it was cereal, Tyson ready to eat chicken and kielbasa. I wasn't asked if I wanted a replacement it was just refunded. I asked for special items, a ham hock, (I got a package of pork necks) 6 hamburger patties, 1.5 lbs of macaroni salad and 1lb potato salad. I received 4 hamburger patties, .75 lbs of potato salad and the macaroni salad didn't even have a label on it. I cant quite explain what the container and what was in it looked like, but I knew I was not going to serve that to my family. It had obviously been opened. So I call the 800# again, get more refunds, was told the macaroni and potato salad and ham hock would be redelivered at no charge with in 2 hours. So 2 hours late, I get texts and calls that the deli is now closed and the butcher didn't have a ham hock . So not only was last nites dinner ruined now tonites is too and I have to go get more groceries. I don't think I will ever use this delivery again. A previous delivery had food handed to us not even in bags, the milk was covered in grass, he was very rude.

I walked into the store at around 9:00pm and scouted to the deli area where I saw an assistant manager with a bright button up shirt being rude and unprofessional to one of the ladies in the dining area. I see him walk around the store with the main store manager not doing anything except talking to the other employees not helping any of the customers. I would like to buy from a relatable but fair store. I do not like seeing upper management treating the other employees with slurs and unappreciation and disrespect. As I was exiting your store after checking out, 2 employees blocked my path and told me that I had concealed a product and then took it out and purchased it. To which I told them they were crazy and tried to walk around them. They each grabbed me by an arm and tried dragging me backwards through the store, causing injuries to both shoulders and my left hip( I'm disabled due to a car wreck) I pulled loose telling them I would sue this store and proceded to my vehicle with them walking behind me cussing me and using vulgar gestures all the way. Which my wife saw every thing. I'm contacting an attorney today and I'm going to sue your food chain.

Tracy Boggs, a manager at wise foodcity has on two different occasions, took my personal business from the store and went home to share it with a schoolmate she went to school with just to cause me problems and drama.
She reached out to her telling her I had applied for a job there which I didn't get but the person she keeps telling my business to is my fiancé's ex that also will do anything she can to get back at me because her ex doesn't want her back. She partners with my ex husband stalking me at my current employer n posting Facebook posts trying to slander my name and make me look bad.
If it wasn't for Tracy not minding her own business and telling Meagan aka fiancés ex my business I wouldn't have to put up with their crap. I don't appreciate it at all and would like to see something be done so it doesn't happen anymore!
The other occasion was about a food city card my fiancé had that was under his phone number that Meagan's name was on. Tracy saw it n contacted Meagan causing Meagan to call n act a fool saying it was her card n her gas visits n we shouldn't use them coz they were hers to use to drive her kids to pound daily when she never has her kids anyways her mom does. Pathetic!

I was in the deli and I saw the lady at the salad/meat counter I believe her name tag said Melissa, anyways I actually considered purchasing some spaghetti salad and some other things until I saw her licking her fingers and handling food! REALLY! I will never purchase anything from that deli as long as she's the one behind the counter! Also my cousin came in there last Sunday and tried to order chicken and she said some blonde headed lady who said she was the manager told her they couldn't take her order because they already had to many orders! This is ridiculous food city guess we will start to go elsewhere!

On Sept 24th, 2018 me and my "sister" were just trying to shop and look around like normal humans. We had a Hispanic lady look at me up and down when i was looking at the front end of the store for certain candies. The she looked at my sister and mumbled something under her breath. We felt like we were being accused of something we did not do. And customer service was horrible! The lady should of came to us in a reapectful manner.

I was buying beer for my father and wanted to use a wic check to get my kids some milk after and I was told that I couldn't use a wic check after I bought beer. So I had to use my dads card to buy milk along with the beer. Never been denied before and probably will never go back to use wic there again. It was very rude and all I can remember is it was a lady. I understand buying beer then using wic but the beer wasn't for me. So why was I denied. I called another store and was told that's not a policy. So I filed a complaint.

There is a manager or maybe head cashier, or he'll just a bagger but anyway, she was working with a guy that appeared to be mentally challenged and he was trying to talk to her and she was just plain rude. She went as far as to roll her eyes as he turned back around. This lady is rude and has no tact what so ever. I will not be shopping at foodcity until she is either put in the back away from people or just gone. Don't really care as long as I don't have to see her. Short gray hair, I will get her name and post it in a couple of days.

On 8/21/2018 at approximately 2:45pm I went into the store to make a purchase; as I am a regular customer. As I went to pay for my purchase, there was an older lady that was bagging on register 9. As I got my check out to pay, she stated ( in a raspy hateful voice; "we don't accept counter checks". I explained that I had been in there 2 days prior and had purchased 258.00 in groceries and that they took my counter check that day. I also explained that I had gotten gas at their gas station the day before and they didn't have a problem with my counter check. This lady made a scene saying " well they shouldn't have" and called Larry the store manager. Larry came and tactfully explained that it is their policy to not take counter checks. Meanwhile this other lady is walking around with my counter check in her hand and when I ask for it back she stated " I'm calling your bank". I was floored I'm mean I have never been treated so rudely. She comes back about 10 minutes later stating rather loudly and extremely rude " your bank said this check won't clear"! I explained that my direct deposit will hit tomorrow and that the check certainly won't bounce as I have overdraft protection anyway. She handed my check back to me without saying a word and only giving me this look like I was trying to steal something. I have been a loyal customer of food city since moving to eastern Kentucky in 2010. I can assure you I will never be back to the Paintsville food city. I did not get the lady's name but she has short gray hair, chubby, dentures and a very raspy smokers voice.
I would like a response on this complaint as I waited 24 hours to make it in order to make sure that I was over reacting in the moment and to cool off. This lady is a total B**** and does not have appropriate people skills to be working in retail. Just my opinion but after complaining to several people about her behavior they knew exactly who I was talking about and agreed that she just plain rude!

this make at least 4 times, i have bought the 8 pack of fried chicken. tough as leather, over cooked, something... but not what i can get else where. please get this fixed as i do not want to start shopping at Publix to get good deli fried chicken !
