unethical behavior - price misquote
Hi,
I had my tax return done last year with h&r block in middletown, ri.
The price was 175 dollars. I live in norway and my tax statement is very straightforward - no properties and I file my own fbar.
I asked them to do my tax return this year and if the price was the same as last year. I was told that it would be about the same except for adjusting "a little bit" for inflation.
When I went to approve my tax return, the price was 350 dollars! I was informed that last year's price was a special. Of course I was aware of this but am also of the understanding that I asked for the same price.
I have since been told that they will not honor our written agreement!
Do you not find this unethical and in blatant violation of a written and therefore binding agreement?
I will send a pdf to jpeg copy of the correspondence because I don't see how to just send you a copy of our e-mails.
I would have used h & r block long into the future - it seems very silly that this very very easy tax return could not be filed with your company for the promised price.
I would have thought that legally, should I wish to persue the matter, the case is pretty straight forward since I possess all of the original e-mails and price agreements.

I was told I would have my refund within 21 days from filing my taxes. That was a LIE I spent a lot of money getting my taxes filed there and everyone else I know did there's on turbo tax and has already received there taxes and it didn't cost them no where near what I paid! When u call and ask about your refund they act like they have a attitude about it then they lie and say nobody has received there's. Ha that's another Lie a lot of people I know has got there's and they filed the same way I did! H&R block is a joke and they need to refunding some of the 150 dollars back since they say within 21 days! That's false advertising!
My state tax return was sent to them on the 10th they are trying to locate it still!

I'm a long-time user of H&R Block - Tax Cut before they sold to H&R.
I had a hard drive failure on my PC and lost 6 years of Federal Premium plus Business plus 6-9 state programs for each of those years.
When I contacted customer support, they saw that I had purchased all the state programs on-line and quickly gave me download links to reinstall them. They also saw that I had purchased my 2016 Federal Premium plus Business on line but I told them I had purchased the previous years' Federal programs from local retailers and had misplaced them due to an office move.
I was told that, since they could not verify my 2013, 2014, and 2015 Federal purchases that they would NOT give me a download link for those lost federal programs. I explained to the rep that, the very fact that she verified my state programs was, in fact, verification of my purchase of the federal program...the state won't even load, much less run, without the federal being installed. She refused and told me she feared for her job.
When I asked to speak with her supervisor, he refused to speak with me! Instead he told her to give me the legal contact for headquarters. I then faxed an overview similar to the above - twice - and have been ignored.

I went to Community Plaza, New Castle Delaware Office to file my taxes and the customer service was so poor I had to leave. The receptionist asserted that I wanted my taxes to be filed for free and got the Office Manager involved. She came out as angry as a bull. She scanned my documents in the front area and told me the price for her labor before even taking me to her office. She then led me to her office and proceeded to insult me. I have to take my documents and leave. The office manager told me that I was ignorant because I could not file my own taxes. I couldn't believe it, the woman called me ignorant. I have filed taxes with H&R Block before and have never seen this level of extremely poor customer service. The office manager was particularly by the fact that I inquired about the previous office manager. I turned up at another H&R Block in New Castle and the same office manager was there. She continued to be impolite. I had to leave.

My boyfriend and I went into the Marshfield, WI office to file our taxes alone for the first time. The agent that we were put with seemed as if she was very new to the system and was having a VERY difficult time answering ANY of the questions that we had even though her profile screen said she had 23 plus years experience. She should be able to answer every question we threw at her seeing that the most difficult part was we had W-2's from two different states. I also had to correct her multiple times as she was filling out our information without asking us the answers. This couldn't have been her first rodeo and I was very disappointed in her services. As you leave an office, you should feel confident that everything was done correctly and we felt we needed to get everything double checked because she didn't seem knowledgeable what so ever.
And on a side note, we made a point to ask an estimated price to file our taxes BEFORE we started the process and by the end of the second appointment, I was charged $30 more than that estimate and my boyfriend was charged more than three times the estimate. The fees for filing and H&R block are ridiculous and I will not be returning to file my taxes next year.

If H&R Block knew about the delay from way back in the fall then why did our tax guy assure us the refund would be available in 21 days? I spent alot of money at this company and accurate information would have been nice. Dont trust hr block anymore. I feel i should be refunded my fees. This person knew the truth but could not take the time to tell us. This was his job.

I called to get a price on taxes which could not be provided due to how ever many forms they would have to do, is what I was told . I have used an accountant prior why had to do the long form with all itemized deductions. The total cost was $150 for that tax return which was last year. I came to H&R Block because my accountant passed away. Not only did I do a short form with just my pension but I was charged $250 which is absolutely ridiculous . I will never use H&R Block again and I will let my friends know how inappropriate it was to not get even an estimate on how much my taxes would cost to be prepared as it stood now I wind it up having to take my bill out of my taxes I'm frustrated I'm upset and I would like consideration for some sort of rebate from H&R Block as copensation. My experience was unpleasant frustrating and irresponsible on H&R Block's end. Icame prepared and left completely disappointed not because of the amount of money I was getting back but because of the bill that was charged to me for doing a short form with one document showing my pension, unbelievably ridiculous .
My goal today is requesting the difference between what I paid and what I paid last year I paid $150 last year and this year I paid you 250 and the forms were much less this year !

On February 6, 2017 I had my taxes done at HRB at the Camden, TN location. I have been using HRB for eleven years now. My appointment was at 9:00a.m. A little after 9:30a.m., I was called back by a woman in skin tight, black, leather pants and a babydoll t-shirt. She looked like she was on her way to a night club. She explained to me that she was just a tax assistant that would be entering my information for the tax professional to review. After she entered my info, I was sent back to the lobby to wait on the tax professional. There were two tax professionals working that day and both of their customers left the store a few minutes after 10a.m. However, I was not called back until 10:45 which was a little upsetting considering my appointment was at 9a.m. When the so called tax professional that goes by the name, Toni Witherspoon, came to the front desk and picked up my file I was in shock. She was dressed in purple sweatpants and a stained t-shirt. Her hair was a complete mess and her face was broke out without a stitch of make up on. She literally looked like she had just rolled out of bed. If I had not gotten a holiday loan that I needed to pay back I would have walked out right then. I am assuming out there is no dress code at HRB. But, this is unacceptable! If I can manage to do my hair and put on real clothes before coming in to do my taxes, the same is expected out of "tax professionals". No one feels comfortable letting someone handle their return that can't be bothered to put even a minute of time into their appearance. And I certainly don't want someone looking like they are club ready for a night on the town helping with my return! I don't think I will be applying for the holiday loan this year. Unprofessional to the max!
I personally wouldn't care how someone was dressed as long as they did a good job on my taxes, but that's just me I suppose.
refund advance program
On 2/9/17 I went to your Carrollton Texas Office specifically due to the Radio adds regarding a Refund advance Program. I spoke with Susan Tordoff who processed my 1040EZ form and confirmed I had a Federal Tax refund of $975.00 due. she explained the advance program allowed for $500, $750.00 or $1200 interest free loans if approved.
After a few days I had not heard anything about being approved or declined I started following up. After talking to the Customer service for Emerald Card they stated there was no contract / request in their system.
I spoke again with Susan and after some research her answer was that I did not have a large enough refund to qualify for the $750 or $500.00 loan.
I can understand this but my issue is your radio adds, Website nor Susan stated this as a requirement upfront.
End result is I will just have to wait a few more weeks for the IRS to send my total refund Although disappointing because I came to H&R Block specifically for the advance program. I could have doe the taxes myself.
Other than that the service I received was excellent. I just think you need to do a better job understanding and communicating all conditions.
lack of tax knowledge and excessive prices
I have been going to H&R at this location for over 18 years. The business was sold a few years back and the new people had been pretty good with us until Yesterday. The lady that did out taxes pulled up last years form and basicly copied it exactly using this years W2's. In the past they always asked us all the questions on items we could deduct and if we did this or that to help find all possible execptions. This lady didn't do any of that. In fact when I asked a question about expenses I had with my perants medical she told me she would have to ask someone else and never did. Every year for being a repeat customer they always reduce our rate. We filed the exact same as we did last year. Last year my bill was $150.00 this year they charged me $225.00. That is a 50% increase. I stated that it that is they way it is then we would need to find another tax office next year and she just said OK. I guess we will go else where from here out.

I went to your Timberville Va, branch on 2/7/2017 because I was told to go by a friend because your good. Well all I had to file was a 1040-ez form took maybe eight minutes but cost me $180. My return was almost that. The customer service was good though but this is absolutely ridiculous and your company should be shut down for stealing. I will never go back and never recommend.
poor service
I have been a costumer of H&T block now for 7 years. I have been highly disappointed in the last two. Last year I was awaiting my state refund only to find out my tax rep never filed it, so I had to wait a extra 4-6 weeks. This year I wanted to apply for the Emerald advance and my rep submitted my forms before I could even apply and was supposed to look into seeing if she could reverse it and never did. I am also again this year having issues with my state refund, the state has still not received it even though they're saying they did. The employees are rude and careless, they just want their money. The past two years I have gone the employees do not even know what they are doing and have several errors so I am there for hours. At this point I do not want to pay them the fees because I pay over 400.00 dollars every year for terrible service and I never receive my refund when it is supposed to be there.

I want to begin by saying my husband and I have been going to H&R Block for almost twenty years in Neptune City NJ. We have always had the same tax preparer James Taylor. He was wonderful at his job and always very professional. Last year We were told James Taylor would not be available for medical reasons. We were scheduled with Linda Sharkus. She did a great job and we scheduled an appointment with her one year to the date on 02/06/17 @ 3pm. We were called numerous times to confirm plus I called myself that morning to confirm. We arrived ten minutes prior to our appointment. We gave the receptionist Richard our names and our appointment time. He simply said okay. At 3:15 I ask Richard if Linda is running behind and his reply was a few minutes maybe a half hour. I ask him which is it and why do we make an appointment if we will not be taking in that time? His response was I don't know and it won't be much longer. Now it is 3:40 and we are still sitting waiting on Linda. Not once did she bother to come out and apologize for her lateness. My husband now very annoyed asks Richard can he find out when Linda will see us. Richard says a few minutes again! My husband says he wants to know now when we will be seen. Richard says no reason to get nasty and to ask him nicely. My husband tells him we have been for the past 45 minutes now and that if he would have checked with Linda when we first asked at 3:15 maybe we would not be having this problem. Finally Richard gets up and asks Linda when she will be ready to see us. Richard comes back and says Linda is not sure and that she has not had her lunch and wants to have it. At this point it is almost 4 and we walk out! I can not believe how we were treated by these two representatives of H&R Block! We were so angry and so upset by the way they both treated us! It was terrible! We will not return ever! We found a new place Liberty Tax Service who were more than happy to see us right away with no appointment. I do want to thank H&R Block for so many wonderful years when James Taylor was there. I plan on making my voice heard loud and clear about how we were treated in your Neptune City, NJ office.
credit card charges
My name is Myra Smith and on 2/7/17 I inserted the disc that was mailed to me, entered my choice of product (Deluxe + State) and waited for the prompt at checkout to enter the coupon code to save $10.00 instantly. Instead I was shown my total charges which did NOT include the discount, I never was given the chance to even enter the code.
Of course by now I've purchased the product minus the discount and search as I might on their web page there is no info on how to get my money back!
I have used H&R Block software for years. I not used the discount before nor do I even remember one being offered. I can't say how disappointed I am but I can say that I will not be using H&R Block again. There are dozens of software available now besides your product and Turbo Tax (which is an even bigger rip off) but even if I don't use one of these other companies next year I would rather do my taxes by paper than trust you again.
federal and state taxes
I'm 2015 hr block in dundar WV filed me and my wife's taxes electronically then the next year same thing but I get a letter from IRS saying taxes from 2015 were never filed I go to hr block they look it up and they did not send them they printed them off for me and I sent them by mail. But now I owe penalties on state and federal and I paid for electronic filing and I'm not gonna pay I feel as if hr block should pay my penalties and give me my money back for taxes that year.
flight delayed

I am heena shukla. I was having a flight with jet airways on 23 rd january mumbai to chennai 9w 467 7.15 pm.
It was reschedule by 7.25 pm. I was having connecting flight from chennai to perth 11.30 pm. But because of jet airways delayed I could not able to catch my air asia flight.
As per information flight was delayed by 10 minutes which I have confirmed on check in counter as well. I was the on mumbai airport by 5.30 pm. And I have informed about my connecting flights too. Because I was excess of 10 kg and I have paid 1000 rs there.
But on gate flight was not started for boarding as well till 8.05 pm. After boarding flight was not took off till 9.05 pm. Because of this late I have reached chennai airport late and I have missed my flight.
I need a proper reason why flight was so delayed. I don't want to listen technical reason. I need valid reason for late. Because technical difficulties is too simple to tell.
If I would have not reached to airport to catch flight because of any technical reason you would have flew the flight... Right?

I am not at all happy and going to inform all my friends and family not to use jet airways for any reason.
My main reason to write you all this is I want to claim my companionship.
I have suffered a hugh financial loss this year. Because of this I can't think of flying again for more 3 years.
I would like you to compensate me my loss of $4518.95.
I want to add one more important thing. I was travelling with 2 boys 10 and 12. Ni[censored] 12 years old was with fractured arm. It was a so pity situation for us because he was having a pain while running. Still I have asked him to run. And then I have push him in trolley. You can imagine our pity condition on airport.

I filed my taxes on the 27th of Jan. I was turned down for the loan option offered to us for the IRS not releasing any money till the 15th. My state tax I new would be hitting my bank account Onthr 6th last week I talked to my tax pro of 10 years and a lady from emerald on the exact same day and both told me that I should receive my money with not a problem since it was only the 6th and payments are not due till the 15th. I talked to both pryer to the check getting in my account to make sure this wouldn't happen. I have e called all morning and explained my situation to over 30 ppl answering the calls everyone of them said they would transfer me to there supervisor . Not one time did a supervisor pick up there phone to talk with me about this confusion. Emerald advance payments are not even due till the 15th. Plus knowing there is a chance we can't pay because federal money doesn't even start getting released till the 15th so are you going to take my money then cause my paycheck is direct deposited. Anyway I counted on my state refund my electric is getting shut off and my water already has. I've gotten no answers no help and hours of total run around. I'm extremely angry cause two tax people told me it wouldn't happen one being my tax pro the other being a agent. And now that it did NOONE is helping me in anyway. I'm very disappointed In H&R Block and extremely ticked off considering my payment isn't even due till the 15th. On February 8, 2014, a tax preparer by the name of Denise Pink prepared my 2013 taxes. At this time I was filing taxes for h & r foods inc. Which is a burger king franchised restaurant. Upon completion of my tax refund I was issued a H&R block emerald card. I was told that my refund would be issued on that card. After weeks went by I contacted Ms. Denise Pink of H&R BLOCK(TAX preparer) to let her know of the situation and she stated that at this no time no money will be issued on the emerald card and that I would be mailed a check. As of January 30, 2107 I needed an IP PIN NUMBER to file electronically and went into the local irs office to retrieve my ip pin and could not do so and was not provided my pin number. Spoke with Angela Patton, an irs representative, located @8876 Gulf Freeway and was given a printout by her which states that my refund was issued on this emerald card but I never recieved this refund at all on this card. I had an appointment to h&r block on arapahoe road (9555 e arapahoe road, greenwood village, co-80112) on 4th feb. 2016 at 3pm (appointment confirm# [protected]) regarding my tax consultation. for my case the tax consultant is 'dennis brom'. although I had received consulting advice but they charged me a whopping amount of $235.
Can you please check whether they have charged correctly as I believe it is quite unfair. if possible please refund additional charge which may have incurred.

While the lady was doing my taxes she could not figure out why the numbers were not matching up and kept having to look up directions and then at the end couldn't figure out how I pay the IRS. I pay every year thru them and she said it was not an option they give. Turns out they do I she didn't know. She the proceeded to ask 2 other people working there and they didn't know. They were all highly untrained for doing this job. Now I wonder if they did my taxes correctly and I had to google how to pay the IRS. I feel that for how expensive they are a peace of mind should come with their services that you don't have to worry about your taxes being done. It was like the blind leading the blind in their.
