bad owners
I have been an employee for 4 years at this IHOP and this last january we had new owners come in and make a WHOLE LOT of changes that we all had to conform to or "take your apron off" and leave. It was already ran by ### managers, and the building is disgusting, the ceiling leaks, the carpet is old and dirty, their are rodents and bugs, ### equipment, old...

Lesson for today: If you get food poisoning, make sure to get someone to take you back to the restaurant you get it from and get sick there. Because there is no way to test for food poisoning and there isn't a mass outbreak of sickness, you won't get anything! I am adding IHOP to the list of places I will never eat again. Just go to YellowPages.com and read...

Why in these hard times and especially times when corporations/businesses are making great profits do they continue to give the consumer less and increase pricing.
I was at a IHOP on spring street in san diego and ordered a nine dollar breakast and a small mlk.
When the super small milk came I asked how much for a small and large milk!
A small milk is $2.40 and a large is $3.00!
What is the cost per gallon of milk for this corporation/businesss?
What does the average person eating breakfast in IHOP pay for a gallon of milk?
I know that I pay an average of $3.00/gallon and corporation/business which buys milk in large bulk containers has to pay alot less than $3.00/gallon!
I refused my milk and lost my appetite after relizing what a fool I had become to spend my money like this!
There are sixteen cups in one gallon, do the math(16X$2.40=$38.40)
You could buy almost thirteen gallons @ $3.00/gallon!

poor management
I know it was Christmas and virtually everyone else was closed. That isn't my complaint, there was only 3 waitresses on staff and a Manager way over her head. She complained about each customer coming through the door, yelled at the waitresses for not doing their side work(with a room full of customers she wanted them to fill salt shakers, wipe counters, clean coffee pots...) All the while we're all waiting for our orders to be taken and delivered. Many tables got up and left, the manager actually thanked them. I have worked the past 30+ years in the restaurant field and was appaled that she never lifted a finger once to help anywhere. Complained that people were coming in and complained to us as we were leaving that she was low on quarters and dimes. I payed with a credit card, I didn't need any change and didn't need to hear that she was low. She belittled the waitresses in front of customers and made my eating expreience a poor time out. My LAST visit to IHOP. By the way our waitress was FANTASTIC and was working her butt off. Tipped well by us...

slow uncaring manager
The manager was asked to change a $100.00 bill and took fifteen (15) minutes to get the money to the server. When asking the manager why it took 15 minutes SHE said she was busy with other matters. She acted uncaring and as though she was making a statement that a customer should not pay their bill with a $100.00 bill. She took her sweet time getting me the change. This place is poorly run by...poor manager.

Seriously grow up, the world does not revolve around you. Learn to wait your turn.
Agree with the other 2 comments. She didnt ignore you or not give you the answer along with the change. You are not her boss that she owes a detailed explanation.
do you know exactly what she was busy with? Perhaps it was something that could not wait.
Your complaint is based on assumptions.
veterans day
I am a disabled american veteran. I decided on nov 11th (veterans day) to call ihop to see if they had a veterans special. denny's does so I figured ihop would. when I called, the woman who answered hung up on me. then I called back and the manager answered then he hung up on me. no one answered my question, to which i'm sure the hanging up was the answer.

Ihop in Tacoma, WA is not doing any kind of veterans discount. I definitely will not be going back to Ihop again...
Ihop in Austin, TX does not given Veteran Free Meals, they do offer a small discount but not free like most other restraunts. Very dissapointed with IHOP. Will go to competitors next time.
I am a veteran too. They are probably slammed today. Just show up!
deceptive practices
My friend and I arrived 9:50 PM and were given a menu by the employee doing the seating:
1. Ordered Breakfast Sampler with menu price of $7.99
2. Upon receiving bill, Breakfast Sampler was $8.99
3. Explained to waitress that menu showed price of $7.99
4. She brought two menus, one showed $7.99 and the other $8.99
5. She said the computer changes price at 10:00 PM and said I would have to pay the higher price
6. I politely requested she get it changed, and she went away
7. She returned without adjusting the price, so I just paid and left
8. Menu did not state prices were good only to 10:00 PM or that prices would be greater after 10:00 PM
9. This is certainly a deceptive practice. HOW MANY CUSTOMERS DOES IHOP RIP OFF IN THIS MANNER?
10. I WILL NOT PATRONIZE IHOP IN THE FUTURE

At about 1045 today, 7 July 2011, my wife and I entered this IHOP restaurant. We had driven 30 miles just to have breakfast at IHOP. Well we entered the restaurant and waited for the hostess as the sign said.
We waited quite a few minutes to be approached by anyone, then a waitress and the manager came out of the back of the rest. It was obvious there was some tension between them, the waitress decided to seat us, but only after complaining about rotating tables with another waitress. She took us to a booth as we requested and asked what we wanted to drink, we told her coffee and she said “ok, I will be right back”.
Well 15 or 20 minutes later still no coffee and this waitress was seen entering tickets in the computer. Obviously this is more important than customers. There was another young waitress walking about doing nothing. I asked her to remind our original waitress that we hadn’t got our coffee as yet. Her reply was “oh she is entering tickets into the computer, she will be with you as soon as she is done”.
She never offered to get us our coffee or take our order to help the other one out, she just flounced off as if she was too good to wait on us. She didn’t bother to tell our waitress about our coffee just walked away.
Well, I am not a patient man so I said well with the attitude in here today, we aren’t going to get waited on and the food will be lousy anyway. We left and ate at the waffle house which we never wanted to do cause they are nearly as bad as this IHOP.
There was an attitude problem there, the manager didn’t care what was going on with the customers. Your llagrange business needs help.
By the way, in case they try to tell you they were busy, no they were not, there were only 4 tables including us in the whole place. We wont be patronizing that place again. Its too bad too and we always have enjoyed IHOP.
brazen uncleanliness
I should have known something was wrong when I was the only diner, while the Panda Express next door was half full at 4:30 on a Friday, but I wanted a cushy booth seat. After ordering, I visited the women's room, noted that it really needed attention, and flicked on the red toggle light switch by the sign that asked me to do so. After a leisurely dinner...

Gentlemen: Ineed to place a serious copmplaint against the Barceloneta, Puerto Rico IHOP Restaurant manager because of abusive and rude treatment received on july 26, 2011. My family and me had to wait almost 3 hours before been attended. the food had a very bad appearance, almost uncooked, different food from the original orderd. the manager never came to our table to listen to our complaints and never apologize, not improved service. Orders needed to be repeated because no satisfied specifications ordered. There were few customers in store. I consider the manager need to be better trained in order that dealing with customers get improved as well as customer satisfaction. Please, kindly inform how I can place a formal complaint online.Mmy best regards. Hiram Maldonado 2 Ave. Princesa, Paseos Reales, Arecibo, Puerto Rico. [protected]-7946

manager/shorthanded
I eat at IHOP all the time at the South Dale Mabry Location. Well tonight there was issues. There were 3 servers. 2 Females and 1 male. We received the male server. We were not told anything about a wait time or other problems. We ordered our dinner and then waited. As we waited I watched our waiter run back and forth from the dining area to the kitchen to help cook and serve the customers. There was a large party of 3 adults and quite a few children in the back. The Mother of those children came up to the waitress and asked for all the food for her children...she was very upset because the service was extremely slow and only some of her kids received food. Since my son and I were sitting next to where the food is prepared I watched as most of the food was getting microwaved because it was not coming out at the same time. She told the lady who was trying to cook that the parents and children were getting upset. The Mother of the kids came up again and asked to speak to the manager. She was told he was running late and was supposed to be there a half hour ago. The Mother walked away again. Meanwhile we are still waiting for our food. When our food came (i had 2 eggs over med. potatoes, bacon, and white toast.) My son had funnel cake. My eggs were hard and cold, my toast was burnt, and my sons funnel cake was half cooked on one side and burnt on the other. I also got my toast 5 min after i got the rest of my food. 45 min late the manager shows up and goes into the kitchen and starts to cook. The waitress for the lady and kids told him that they did not want to pay for the food. The manager asked why and how much the food was and he said he would call 911 that she needed to offer them a discount. Meanwhile the couple behind me received their food and it was wrong. The soup was cold the gentleman's burger was wrong and he demanded a refund for his food. The manager not only ignored the waitress and waiters comments but acted like he had done nothing wrong. The poor servers were getting treated like crap because that guy did not properly schedule employees or should have shown up sooner if he knew they were shorthanded. Our waiter/cook/whatever else gave us a huge discount but I was very disappointed in our dinner and I would have really reamed that managers ### if they were not so busy. I did not want to be the cause of someone else's food being late or cold.
manager's bad attitude
First off, I was treated very well by the servers. Prompt and courteous service. My problem is with the female manager who was rude to the waitstaff several times, talking down to them and being quick-tempered in front of customers. She completely ignored the poor Fedex guy who was trying to make a delivery, then made him wait while she helped customers to...

I work at the ihop off of mercury in hampton, va. The manager that is over the store is Steve Brown. He is a nasty man and he sexually harassed alot of the women in the store when he was the actually manager not the district. The enviroment is uncomfortable, everyone always feels like they never know when their going to get fired because when he is a bad mood it affects everyone because he takes it out on all the employees. The store is falling apart inside and outside.Everytime oar comes everything is our fought even though the employees can't do anything about the smell in the bus area because the building is so old, the floor are unsafe, and outside interior is in bad shape. I feel the cooks may have it the hardest being that the kitchen is very hot in the summer and there is no a/c or heat for the winter time for them. Again that's our fought even thought we are just employees. The employees are afraid to say stuff about any of this because we are all afraid to speak our minds because nobody wants to get fired! He needs to be investigated and i'm sure some of the employees will vouch for this message. I would like to remain anonymous- but something needs to be done. Our main manager now is very nice and listens to us. Steve is good manager/district if you put the sexually harassment, the belittling, trying to cut labor by getting rid of all the greatest cooks in the store, and making people feel uncomfortable.

Ordered a steak and egg breakfast from IHOP of Neptune, Zachary took order, $45, when I got home I was given the dinner, called the manager and he argued with me like I didn't know what I had ordered, no compensation for there mistake, my food was mixed together worst $45 that was spent today, awful!
bad food, bad management the woman was terrible should be fired. Herd her yelling and running like she was crazy need to take her med or stop using drugs. was better a month ago, it seemed like it was heading the right way not Any more.
i hop has the means manger ever yell at his staff yesterday me my mom my dad my grandma and my little sister went to ihop and the waitress took our order and she was doing fine the my mom my grandma and my little sis went out side and the our waitress was out side crying and she said '' she was not going to get disrespected like this ans she was there all day and that she wanted a phone because she was calling the cop '' i agree with her i wish he would talk to me like that! :(
My husband and I both ordered omlets and a order of 2 banana pancakes with strawberries and cool whip. Everything was fine till we got ready to eat the pancakes and there in the straberry syrup was a fly. Got the waitresses attention showed her...she took it back to get us fresh. The manager came over an apologized, went to get us new ones. Came back asked if we had to have the banana's in the pancake as that would take longer to cook or if they could just slice some bananas on already done pancakes. So that is what they did. Then when we were given our bill $27 dollars and change there was a survey attached so I thought I would fill that out when we got home. Well when we paid in cash, the waitress took it and was gone for ever all she had to do was bring us back $5.00 in change ( which we intended to leave anyway as her tip ) instead she came back and asked if we needed that change or our receipt. So we told her to take the $5.00 as her tip and we won't be going back! The lady at the table next to us had already asked for clean silver ware before she had even ordered. Poor management...Told the waitress and manager that our son-in-law is the state health inspector for that area...he is on vacation in Virginia didn't wait for him to get back, it only took us 45 minutes to get home and I had already called him and reported this. So we will see if they get there act cleaned up !
On june the 7th at about 1:30pm my car was parked at the front door of the restaurant. I went to my car to start it to get the air conditioning going because it was about 100 degrees outside. I accidently locked the keys inside the car with the engine running. I went back into the restaurant to inform my wife what happened. While inside I asked about two employees if they had a hanger or something I could use to get inside my car. One said we don't have anything. The other went to look for something but could not find anything. I then went to the Radio Shack store to the rear across the parking lot. The employees in there helped me with a make-shift device to try to use. After standing in the heat for about twenty-five minutes trying to get in the car I had no success. I then glanced into the restaurant and saw two emplyees looking out the window toward the corner of the store. I looked in that direction and saw my wife tyring to get a small piece of tree lim off of a tree to try to use as another device to help get into the car. I went over to assist her because I did not want her to get bruised by the branches in the tree. My wife then walked back to the car when the manager came out, stepped in her path, got in her face and said to her with a very demanding tone "You just going to deface my property?" He said the same thing to her about four times, staring at her as if she had committed a major crime. My wife stood silent. I then told the manager " Sir, all ew are trying to do is get in our car. We did not mean your tree any harm. We apologize." He then said, "THAT'S ALL I WANTED TO HEAR! And then he turned around and went back into the store. Ten minutes later I finally got into the car using the tree lim.
In 100 degree heat this man was more concerned about someone taking an 18 inch long by 1/4 inch round piece of lim off a tree than trying to do something to help.
He treated my wife with no respect as a woman.
He treated us both without respect as paying customers.
This man owes us an apology.
That has too be the vile place too work in and eat at! the food is always 1or 2 days old mold is taken off before it is severd and not to mention the foul mouth cooks saying rude and sexual comments and not judt to the staff the woman customers hear them as well one day a woman heard then she was so upset she went o the manager on at time time and told him what had happen.I was so taken back when he infact went to the cooks and told them and they all got a good laugh thinking it was funny...its the most viel place too work so if you want a job don't go there you will be used and treated like a dog!
Eggs-cooked solid ...pancakes-burned...coffee-luke warm and weak...service? HORRIBLE! Male server 3am mon. Feb 2nd should be canned!
I asked the server about the crapes and what was in them and he acted like a real creep! He said check the menu I dont know! Then when my wife asked for more pancakes, he said he had to warn us not to share because it was an all you can eat deal. I felt like he was the pancake patrol and did not finish my food.

My wife and I have been eating at IHOP s restaurants all over the country on our vacations. I usually don't go on the websites of companies, but the service at the IHOP in South Portland Maine was terrible. We stopped for breakfast and received the worst service ever. Our server Amanda was rude. Her shirt was to short and very tight, we saw a character from sesame street Almo my wife tells me. She was very involved in talking to her friends on phone and texting. When she came over to check we asked for a glass of water and she made a very dumb joke (there well went dry) and she laughed, we did not. My wife and I were so appalled at this experience that we asked for our bill paid and we left VERY VERY DISSATISFIED. We then noticed a cracker Barrel down the street were we went for the rest of our vacation, the service was wonderful, food good and we felt that our presents wasnt a dollar in their pocket.
We asked a server also on our way out who the manager was and guess what, it was Amanda our server. We think that maybe she should go to cracker barrel and see how proper service is conducted.
Thank you again and hopefully this women will either get some morals or be removed from her position.
Apparently telling jokes and being friendly is "rude" nowadays. I think it's time to step out of that bubble you're living in. Typical ###.
payment before you eat
The waitress brought the bill with the food. Then demanded payment. I gave her my credit card and then she returned for the signed receipt. I told her I was not going to sign it until I had finished eating. So she went and got the manager and she said that's the way they are doing it now. I have never had anyone demanding payment before you have finished eating. Won't be going back.

everything
I have eaten here a lot. My wife works here.
She wanted to go to the doctor, but they said you had to have a doctors note. Doctors visit =$500. Average server pay per week is $350. So in order to miss any work at all she needs a doctors note. I think it is aweful that in order to miss work it takes over a weeks pay. How can you expect to keep employees if they have to spend $500 to miss a day of work which is actually needed.
The company does not offer health insurance, but they require a doctors note? That is a fallacies of the highest sort. How can you go miss a day that is important and afford over a weeks work to do so. I think the fact that a doctors note is required no matter what is ridiculous if the company does not offer medical insurance.
Anyone else see a problem here.

Eat broccoli?
chevy...Only in the United States can we see a system like Canada's health care system and decide that it is just not right for us. We would much rather pay through the nose for private insurance and force our employers to pay through the nose for it, and then flip a coin to find out if we are actually covered.
yah wtf 500 dollars for a doctors visit here. Well i guess your not canadian, here our medical covers everything.
$500 for a doctor's visit? Where are you taking her? I don't know any doctor that charges $500 for a visit. Your story is very fishy. You could go to a local free clinic and get a note to miss work. It sounds like your wife has missed work before, and they are calling her bluff.
You're acting like iHop is the only company that does this. Every job that I worked in college did this. It's may not be easy, but they are within their rights to expect these things. Maybe your wife should look elsewhere for work.
horrible manager and phony policy
I went to ihop with my girl and my uncle and his girlfriend. Now take in mind that at this ihop they have had a lot of immature people skip out on their tabs... And people at night are usually drunk. It was a late night. My girl and uncle and his girl had been drinking. I was the dd. Also, between me and my girl, we have 10 plus years of serving experience. Mainly crackerbarrel.
Our server seemed friendly. We talked with her and placed our orders. I wasn't hungry, so I got a water. My girl got potato soup, uncle ordered tbone meal, and his girl got breakfast. She specifically asked for no pancakes and the server offered extra grits. This made my uncles' girlfriend happy.
One hour and fifteen minutes goes by; we are done talking we wanted our food. I noticed my uncle and his girl starting getting upset... Therefore rude... But I stopped them and I started talking to the server. I told her could she please check with the cooks to see what was going on. She smiled and did so, and my girl also asked for a coke refill. Now the server was a fault, but only for not keeping us updated on the food situation.
When the food came, after the manager got onto the cooks, the steak tasted awful and was cold, and yes I tried it to make sure my uncle wasn't just complaining. The server forgot about the extra grits and brought pancakes, and it had been 10 min since we asked for a refill. She then tried lying saying it was the steak that took so long. Yet a well done steak, should take a max of 20 min... And that's being nice... Hold on i'm not done... My girl didn't even get her soup!
We asked for a manager. She started talking to us and put the blame in soooo many places. First it was that the server was busy. I pointed out that I used to serve and that my girl still does. Our server only had two other table when we placed our order... When your a server you notice things like this. I told the manager that isn't busy. (Also the other tables weren't bothersome; bothersome tables can make one very busy). Then she said the cooks were busy... Then I said well maybe you need better or more cooks. Yes, I was becoming a smart [censored], because the manager was being rude in her tone, facial, and posture. I told her what about the soup, and the refill? She said, we'll get that. She offered to recook the steak... Yeah rite! Wait another 20 min for poorly seasoned steak?! Plus my uncle was worried someone may spit in it, cause we had been asking bout our food, and the manager had to hurry the cooks to get it out.
He replied, that's okay can I have my money back for this. We had to pre-pay earlier... Apparently this was a new policy. Two small bites had been taken of the steak, me and unc. She replied its policy, we can't do that. My girl replied you're the manager, you can do that. Then I pointed out all the bad things in a smart # way... Never swearing or getting loud. Take in mind we are black and my girl is caucasian. I said, "going by all the bad things from food to service my uncle should be entitled to his money back for that plate of food. Then the manager says you all have to go i'm going to get the officer and she walked away! Oh! Yes this ihop has like 3 cops late at night who keep an eye on things.
I completely understand the cops being around! But we weren't in fault in anyway, so why get them. Plus she acted like we were to be afraid of a cop... Lol. This is why I pointed out our race, because the majority of folks that come in late after the clubs were young african americans. I'm from pa, and I have no problem speaking with officers. I guess her living in alabama and working at that ihop, blacks coming from clubs wanted to avoid the cops...in her mind...
The cop comes over, I talk with him for about a min, then the manager comes over, I guess to see what I was saying (Not to help). She tries to cut me off, I told her,"i'm talking to this officer not you, please don't be rude. "then I tell the cop"now you after explaining all this you can see why we are mad, and she brought you over hear because she can't handle us like we are supposed to be scared of you or something."he smirks and shakes his head agreeing.
This upset the manager, btw, her name is nancy. She butts in again! She told the officer,"I told them I would recook their meals."I noticed she used meals in a plural since. I said told her she said no such thing. She replied again"I did offer to re-cook your meals."
I'm thinking one; we want our money anyway, not meals recooked, but to prove a point to the cop I said"okay, we want our food recooked."she looked at me like she wanted to slap me, because she saw her error, which I saw as her lying to the officer and she said,"oh no i'm not recooking all that. "I replied that she just said she would. Then I said,"you know what forget it go recook whatever." she then left.
Here's the kicker my girl still hadn't gotten her refill, the cop noticed this and he went and got it for us! No joke! We then just left, because who knows what was in that recooked steak now.
And the waitress got to keep her tip and we never got a refund... Nancy and ihop in tuscaloosa, alabama are completely awful! I have never heard of a place to not refund you for such awful service and food you barely touched, because it was cold! Also! Since when did tips become mandatory... We should have been able to get that back easily! My uncle paid cash! She just better be glad it wasn't my money... Or i'd have gotten my money back! Ihop needs to do something about this!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
With it being third shift, and the majority of patrons that night I am sure being drunk, they are right to ask for people to pay first because every other drunk off their ### table would be trying to get out of there. Secondly, a server is never to blame for food taking a long time and if you ask me "filling them in" on a situation only leads to the customer arguing and then they start talking about stuff they don't know about like "well it should take 4 minutes for the whole meal etc". So, it wasn't her fault the food took too long although I don't agree it should have taken that long. The Ihop I eat at people get beat up at 3 or 4 am on a regular basis it has security too. They have to because thats what happens. And every customer is black. So, I don't think it has anything to do with race, maybe she misunderstood you. She should have given your money back though. But you have to realize what they deal with on regular third shift. Its trouble. Its fights. Its stealing. Its servers getting glasses smashed in their faces, not tipped, meals not paid for, sexually harassed. So she probably thought "oh here we go again..."
I honestly never have heard of paying first...?
no senior citizen discount!
The new I hop at new brunsfels and ih 37 in san antonio texas! Poor service (They forget about you in the take out section) and a no care attitude!
I ordered six pancakes to go and only received just two little cups of butter! No brains when dealing or estimating! No management on site and everyone doing what they want instead of customer service!
Not only that, the ready order stayed on the cook counter for over 10minutes waiting for soneone to pick it up and concude the bagging of the order. This is no way to run a business! This tends me to believe that either I hope corprite doesn't care about the service or it reflects poor supervision!
What?! Different people like different amounts of butter. No need to be rude about it. Also, senior citizen discounts are a kindness, not a right. Get over it. Age doesn't automatically guarantee you a discount.
