threatened that computer will crash
On November 3rd we received a followup call from a man saying he was the account manager with a company called IYOGI his name Inder and phone number [protected].
Out of breath and very urgent sounding he told me that when I called in several weeks ago
to Microsoft for help the tech that took over my computer planted a tracking system to see
how well my computer was working, and now he has been advised that my computer is
going to CRASH and I will lose all my data. It was very late in the evening but I did run
a full scan on my computer and there does not seem to be a problem. I find this threat
intimidating, obviously a money scam to buy a protection plan of some sort, and now I am
upset to think my computer can be compromised. If anyone is having the same problem I hope that they will address this issue. Thank you.
Won't stop calling!
I have repeatedly told this company I do NOT want to renew a subscription to the Support Dock. In the past 2 days, I've received no less than 20 phone calls trying to get me to renew. Each time, I tell them no and ask them not to call again. This company won't remove me from their call list! Absolutely do NOT use their products/services because they will hound you endlessly months before your renewal date. I wish I'd NEVER heard their name!
I yogi has called me daily for the last year. I have screamed, threatened, asked to speak to management, It does not do any good. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and it is painful for me to get up and walk over to the phone to see who is calling me. I have explained this and yet they still keep calling. I think I am going to look to buy phone blocking software.
iyogi scam
I tried to call McAfee about my computer running slow & I was worried that I might have had a virus. I was somehow redirected to iyogi. They wanted to try to remotely get on my computer to see what the issue was. They were successful in doing so & I believed they were repairing my computer. Then to my surprise, a lot of my programs were not there, & my computer was running slow. (Keep in mind that they charged me $160 for that) & when I called them back for this issue of my computer running slow, there tried to get me to extend my package for 3years & purchase a 3year package for $360. I declined and the guy would not take no for an answer. I finally just told him I CAN'T! I think that he was a little bit pissed off because I'm assuming they make commission. But they day after all of this, that I attempted to log on, my computer was completely broken. & By Broken, I mean it WILL NOT START UP! the screen is black, & then all of the sudden a random screen saver comes on & no icons or arrows are there. I believe that iyogi is a huge scam. They try to get u to buy packages but they erase your programs & put viruses on your computer & try to get u to buy more from them. I do not believe they are a legit company. You are better off going through a company like "GEEK SQUAD". Oh ya, & the fact that they are in INDIA & their accents are so thick you can barely understand them & their English is so broken makes it 10 times more frustrating! Uggghhh! ever turn to iyogi for any of your computer issues! SCAM!

Paid IYOGI $130.oo to completely wipe out my computer because of a small issue of installing an anti virus renewal. They accessed my computer had me on the phone for 24 hours and ended up reinstalling windows, drivers and everything. Computer still does not work right tried to keep selling me extended software warranty. Was reffered to them by DELL. Lost everything on comp not everything works right now and runs slow. I am filing suit for my $130.00 back and to replace my comp they destroyed. After they knew what they did try to deny it and called for 48 hours trying to sell me a 300.00 warranty for software. THEY ARE SCAMMERS DO NOT FOR ANY REASON USE THEM YOU COMPUTER WILL BE DESTROYED,
iyogi is a fraud company
I would just like to tell the Iyogi FRAUD Team that you are fooling innocent people who have little knowledge of computer.
let me tell you iyogi strategy to extract money from a innocent customer. whenever customer in US or UK have any problem on there computer they use google to get the number ie. HP, Dell, microsoft etc. when the results come up it directly displays a phone number with a url for example http://www.iyogi.net.au/hp-support.html. now the number is for the fraud company iyogi and they have smartly linked there name to HP so that when HP customer searches for tech support the fraud iyogi number would popup. when the customer calls the number he thinks that he is calling HP. check iyogi website your will find all the major companies name. Even if the customer confirms that Is he speaking to HP. he is told that he is speaking to iyogi who is a independent service provider for HP products. customer thinks that it could be a third party support to HP which is actually not. fraud iyogi has linked up all major companies in the world to its name ie. HP, Dell, Acer, microsoft, linksys, sony and is making millions of money in a day. One major thing is that when ever your call would get connected to iyogi be it any issue say printer installtion, browser not working, slow internet, keypad not working. They convince the customer by running a fake scan on the computer to show that they have virus on the computer. the scan always shows viruses as it is fake. They do this to scare the customer. As this is there motto that if you want to extract money from the customer make it a virus issue. tell them them it would crash there computer. The agents are very well trained about it in their trainning. Each agents target is to do a sale of atleast 500 dollars a day or his TL and Manger make his life a hell. Major banks like american express and other companies like Norton have banned them. There license has been rejected so many times but Mr. Chaloo seems to get it by paying a lot of money to the gateway. That is why the Fraud iyogi team is very confidently saying that " if you did not need tech support why did you call us.
i was robbed
My security system failed(McAfee), I googled McAfee and called the first website that appeared(iyogi.com).They immediately took control of my computer, touched a lot of settings and told me there were numerous things wrong with my computer. These things had to be fixed before they can fix my security system(my computer has never given any trouble). At this point there is no question I was held HOSTAGE, It cost me 169.99 to get my computer back in working order.
hey insisted I had to fix all these things before they could fix my security system(at this point I was held HOSTAGE).It cost me 169.99 to get them off of my computer

No refund
Today I recieved a text message from my bank that a charge was processed on my mastercard. I knew right away that something was incorrect because I hadnt used my mastercard today I was at work all day couldnt had! I called my bank ASAP and was told a charge was on my account for 39.99 from a company called Iyogi . I have never heard of this company before and had no clue what to do. Thank God my bank had a customer service number and provided me with a transaction number. I called Iyogi and was told I DID make the purchase for what Im not even sure of still at this moment and that there would not be any refund or reversal of the transaction! I was shocked! I asked Mr Sujit Kumar to speak with a supervisor and was told Id be told the same thing that he was telling me NO REFUNDS! I couldnt believe this!I then asked Mr Kumar to explain to me what this service was that was purchased to this he couldnt expalin just kept telling me they were teck support! For what I DO NOT KNOW! He could not provide any further info after asking him to explain this several times he then explained to me that NOW he could do a refund and the funds would be placed back in the account.Im not sure if I will EVER see the refund I did recieve a email confirming the reund request was processed but Im not hopful at all I can see days of calling this company! Ive never been treated like this from a company before.
I have the same problem. NO REFUND. I sent the computer things back and they still haven't processed my refund as they promised. I am in doubt as to when and if I will get it.
for SheKit361994
You should file a dispute with MasterCard in regards to the rip-off charge by "iyogi" As long as you dispute charges within a specific time frame, you should be able to have MasterCard remove the charge from your account! DO NOT LET THE "iyogi" RIP-OFF ARTISTS GET AWAY WITH THIS METHOD OF THEFT! PLEASE CONTINUE TO FIGHT BACK! AT SOME POINT, THERE MUST BE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THESE BRAZEN CON ARTISTS!
fraud
Tried to get Avast Antivrus Free as I have done a couple of times before for small personal computer but this time got directed to a site with which I was not fmiliar for it to be downloaded. It was downloaded by iYogi. I paid a fee of $169 to have "full technical support" for one year. It has not been honored. I suspect that somehow iYogi has infected the Avast site, using it as a front to get subscriptions and then doing the download as the benefit for purchasing their service. When I tried to call for support ( I cannot get them on the internet) they did not respond.

The Service is ### off. I searched for Mcafee support from google, i don't know how i got connected to iyogi. They said that there is a virus in my computer and they said it will cost $399.99, they placed me on hold they gave me a discount of $100 again they placed my call on hold, this time they gave me $130 of discount... i disconnected the call. Then i thought i will go for Norton instead of Mcafee again i got connected to them... i will call again this time i will record the call and i will mail to norton, mcafee, microsoft... everyone... This people are theifs...
Sorry you had the same trouble I did. Let's all wish the most horrible Karma on these criminals! They are from India, so bad Karma to them!
Will never buy another HP printer.
Too many install problems (returning to Costco) and HP support (iYogi) is a scam.
this is exactly what happened to me but with McAfee. Is anyone else getting calls from "unknown caller" with an India accent saying their area is infected with a specific virus (they use your zipcode) and then request you go on your computer so they can help you fix it? They said they were from Microsoft, but hung up when I asked pointed questions and wanted to speak to a supervisor. Is iyogi selling or giving out some of our personal info, such as phone, name, etc. I am really getting pissed.
I typed in "HP Tech Support" on my phone and got their number. They never once said "we are not HP Tech Support" or "iYogi, how may I help you?" leading me to believe they were, in fact, HP Tech Support. I was calling about a battery issue and they proceeded to remotely control my computer, install their software, and tell me I had 3, 000+ corrupt files connected with my disc, and 3, 000+ different corrupt files connected to my security. The woman transferred me to her supervisor and he told me I was going to have to pay $200 or $1, 400 to fix it! Nope.
Unethical service
IYogi is unethical, cheaters, no customer service and they do not provide the services they promise! I attempted to purchase an antivirus for my laptop computer. As I tried to install, the website directed me to IYogi for set up assistance (free of charge). When i was connected to IYogi's tech support they connected to my computer and said my computer was already infected with viruses and the McAfee antivirus could not help. They offered to fix this problem if I signed on for 1 year of tech support for $140, which would include unlimited tech support for any computer related issues. I naively belived what they were offering little did I know they were scamming me. The next time I turned on my computer all my files where gone. Family pictures, personal documents, music, everything saved on my computer was gone. If that was not bad enough, my computer now is infected with a virus and it crashed. When I tried to call their tech support they hung up the phone on me twice, then they put me directly to hold music which ended by disconnection. At the end of the day I'm short $179.99 (yes they charged me $39.99 more I don't know for what!), my laptop is useless, and all of my important documents and pictures are gone. I would never recommend this company, do not use their services, if I could have given them a rating less than 1 they would receive from me a 0.

I was told that I was paying for software to remove virus, instead I was sold technical support
On Friday May 6, 2011, I googled netgear to get help to make my netgear router secure, instead of unsecure. I got the phone number and called. When I called they answered "Iyogi". I asked was this the free technical support for netgear, because I had one year free technical support. I was told that I had dialed the right number and they were technical support for netgear. I was then told that my computer had a virus and I had to purchase software for $169.99 to remove the virus, then they would be able to help me set up a secure router network. I purchased the "software". On May 7, 2011, I called back, because I had another problem with my computer and was told that I had another virus on my computer and someone tried to sell me somemore "software". I refused to buy anything else. When I said I had just purchased some "software" on yesterday, I was told that I didn't buy "software" on yesterday, I purchased "technical support". I tried to call the company back to talk to someone about this, was put on hold each time, and then the phone hung up several times. I sent an e-mail to the company and asked that they not charge my card because I was told that I purchased software to remove a virus and not technical support, besides I have free technical support for my new laptop and for netgear router for one year, why would I want to purchase some technical support? I never had problems with my laptop until I called "Iyogi". All I wanted and needed to do was get my netgear router secured. This is a scam and a rip off! Buyer be aware.

When I was unable to install a NETGEAR wireless adapter, I called the service telephone number listed on the NETGEAR site. iYogi answered and I began what ended up as a 3.5 hour marathon session with a service technician. The problem was ultimately solved - I am now able to use the wireless adapter and the fix did appear to be complicated. However, it was clear the repair and consultation was needlessly prolonged and during the remote access session I authorized (in order to allow the technician to scrutinize my computer and assist in the repair - pretty standard these days), he spent a lot of time looking at what webpages I browsed, eventually telling me my problem was a result of a very deeply infected computer with details offered by iYogi's diagnostic software. How convenient, eh? Again, my problem was ultimately solved, but I spent at least an hour fending of a VERY hard-sell of the $169 iYogi service. Interestingly, the tech mentioned that his repair was only temporary and that my computer desperately needed iYogi's attention. He agreed to call me back in 48 hours to talk about iYogi's year-long protection/service - after I've had a chance to confirm that his repair worked. Based on the other reviews/complaints above, I'm now seriously worried that I've got a couple of time bombs in my house (both of the computers the iYogi tech insisted on scanning). I'm really stunned that NETGEAR allows its customers to be exploited - scammed - this way by its own technical assistance partner.
Yes - I've just gotten off the phone with iYogi. It was a marathon 3 hour session which did ultimately solve my problem, but at least an hour was spent on the hard-sell of iYogi's technical service. I had a serious problem with my network card which the iYogi technican was able to correct, but I got the distinct impression throughout the conversation that the solution was being deliberately avoided and the conversation unnecessarily prolonged. After iYogi took remote control of my computer (which I was happy to accept, given my inability to solve my problem), the technician began searching for a "problem" that iYogi's service could solve. It was pretty transparent, but I felt like iYogi had me between a rock and a hard place. Part of the $169 service is installing Microsoft Security Essentials (a free download from microsoft.com) on your computer and "optimizing" your disk (which Norton or pretty much any anti-virus software will do for you). What is so galling is that Netgear allows its customers to be exploited so blatantly this way - needless to say, while I'm happy with my new Netgear wireless adapter (which iYogi did get working...), it'll be the last Netgear purchase I make.
I had a very similar experience exept I managed to figure out it was a scam before buying any software. I had a problem getting my computer (laptop) to connect to my newly installed wireless router. After the tech guy (who was not very good) figured out the problem (which took about an hour and a half) I was up and running. Then he said he wanted to transfer me to his supervisor. That's when the sales pitch (masked as true concern for my computers health) began. Netgear should really do something about this. These guys tell you that there computer is infected and that the infection is the reason you needed technical support. They told me that the virus was causing my computer to have intermittent drop outs. Complete nonsense.
they hacked my pcs
my anti virus just stopped working so i end up calling support after reinstalling and then the antivirus wouldnt except my code, wich i knew to be good cause i copied and pasted it .after the tech fix's my minor problem he go's into my event veiwer to check what all has transpired and then tries to sell me a 300.00 dollar service plan i said no shortly after that my pc gets a blue screen, but its not a regular error blue screen it says conntact my pc support specialest to repair the problem . a couple days go by then my wife had to call because her antivirus didnt work, well after she refused to buy the plan that evening she turned on her pc and to our suprize she cant type her password in the computer was typing for her none stop we couldnt get it to stop. so i pulled the ethernet cable because i had a hunch that our problem was internet related .i changed to viper anti virus we dont have ant problems now Iyogi caused us to swicth they wouldnt leave my pc's alone i called twicw thier one tech told me the hackers come trough the back door and turn stuff off, so i checked my services . I found that most of what should have been auot was diabled i would assume from iyogi i even tried a total reinstall of my os made the mistake of putting os security shield on again same problem phoney blue screen when i made the change to viper anti virus that stopped iyogi from getting into pc

Total scam. Did not fix my computer.
I cannot believe McAfee Antivirus endorses this company and connects you with them for technical issues. They are of course in India, and your complaints are given to their "claims department", who will contact you in 7-8 business days to process your refund. I got on the phone and called my credit card company, reported the fraud, and closed the account...

I was experiencing difficulty keying in information on my ASUS laptop computer keyboard. I initially began to run a McAfee scan. I also decided to contact tech support to see if they could be of assistance. I did a search on McAfee Tech Support phone number. I called the first site offering McAfee support. I called [protected]. When I established contact, the gentleman assured me that he would provide assistance for my McAfee concerns. He proceeded to tell me to stop my McAfee scan and close all applications. After I did this, an Iyogi dialog box popped up. I asked what Iyogi was and I was informed that it was only a way for them to send me messages as they took control of my computer to assist me in fixing my problem. After 30 minutes, a scan appeared on the screen that indicated that I had 4 critical issues that needed to be fixed. According to him, this was an emergency situation since the corruption of my computer could lead to all of my personal and financial information being stolen. At this point, he proceeded to tell me that for $169 I could receive tech support for a year. I replied that since McAfee didn’t notify me that my system had viruses, I thought McAfee should was responsible to handle it. It was at this point that he advised me that he did not work for McAfee. I suspected that something was amiss and refused their offer. The scan disappeared before I could print it and they disconnected from me. I proceeded to run the McAfee scan again. It showed no problems or viruses present. The problem was resolved after I researched similar problems and found the correct solution. Isn’t a company sending a bogus computer scan over the internet fraud? Why aren’t the leading anti-virus software distributors doing something? Iyogi initially pretends to be one of them when you call. Maybe after iyogi messes up computers, these companies figure they can sell us more software to get rid of what we didn’t have to begin with.

Beware of ordering MaCaffe virus protection online. You get iyogi tech support. I paid 39.99 for the virus program and ended up having to call a number +[protected] Well that gut was a jerk and used the same lines on me that I have read in the other complaints. Ecspecially the "not to worry" when I asked him what the heck was going on. All I wanted to do was purchase the virus protection and download it or get the disc. Oh no, I got this Inian guy on the phone and the whole thing just thouroughly upset me. And he kept calling me back even though I asked him not to. Now I have no virus protection program installed and I am out 40 bucks! Take my advice, do not buy protection online.
Paid $136 to fix my computer. Never was fixed and my computer is worst than it ever was. Called back and talked to a tech and he signed another tech to talk to me. They were trying to sell me a $299 warranty. Finally they just hung up on me. Get on Facebook, tweeter and email all your friends and maybe we put these crooks out of business.
I went online to Macafee Anti-virus protection and applied for their service for $39.99. They told me they could not apply their service because I had a virus in my registry - then they connected me with Iyogi, they said their services would be $140.00. They stated that if I didnt take care of virus, my computer would crash. I told them to go ahead. It took them (3) hrs. to complete. Then the next day, I try to go to my icon for Club Pogo and the whole site has changed - I call their support line, they had me on the phone for almost (2) hrs. saying they are trying to fix. They never did and I kept asking them what happened to my icon for Club Pogo, they never answered me. T0day, I checked my bank account and the &39.99 debit was also from Iyogi not Macafee. I am not happy. I work hard for my money.
What is wrong with your computer?
If you can avoid iyogi then please do
It was late on a Saturday when my new computer would not recognize my HP all in one printer. I tried several things and not being very techincal minded I finally turned to Windows Customer Support. I needed the computer to print a document needed the next day. Then began the nightmare. I was hooked to iyogi. The first thing they did was have me lof on to logmein so the tech could work on my computer. That went fine but the tech said my computer had numerous registry problem and even shoed me an error page. They said they would need to install Support Dcok so they could have the right tools to fix the problem. They also said there would be a $299.99 fee for a two year subscription. Well the Printer problem was fixed but at the expense of the bbot up time going from about 1 minute to at least 8 minutes and sometimes as much as 12 minutes. I called iyogi two more time and again turned over the control of my comuter to their tech. I have had almost all programs (which were not very many) not turned on at startup, that is fine but the boot up spped is still terrible. I have called customer service several times to try to cancel the subscription to the tech support. I am told many things but never that they will refund the money. Finally today Tuesday they agreed to change the subscription to one year and refund $130 I hope thta really occurs. I have a good friend working on the computer at this time, he has had a very difficult time uninstalling support dock and says that we may have to reformat the hard drive inoder to get the computer restored. If you can avoid iyogi then please do. also shre this around.
I was manipulated to purchase iyogi. iyogi are liers and cheats and fraud. iyogi destroyed my computer and lost all / thousands of my Documents and Images. They purposely and stealthily sabatogue your computer so that they keep their jobs of fixing it constantly but they never truly fix anything 100 % - I have spent over 30 + hours on the phone with iyogi, ovr th past 1 month, to fix problem after problem after problem that they caused. These people do not deserve exist. They are the devil. Greedy UGLY people who are dispicable and destructive to your computr and your happiness. They cause you so much stress and frustrations that it is torture. They are computer TERRORISTS AND SHOULD ALL BE IN JAIL - SPREAD THE WORD PLEASE - iyogi is a villainous virus, a cruel cancer and a disgusting disease of a company.
I just had a bad experience with Iyogi, having been steered there by Avast's website. After declining Iyogi's subscription services, they offered to have a technician work on my system to remove a suspected virus. He loaded MalwareBytes, ran a quick scan which did not find any malware. Then he began going through the user directories deleting desktop.ini files, no big deal, but he also deleted boot.ini and io.sys from the root. Then he tells me to reboot. I chat back, asking if the pc is expected to boot after deleting the boot.ini. He responds that yes, it will, that it is one of the commonly infected files. Hey, boot.ini is clear text -- we could have opened it in Notepad and seen if there was any problem with it! So I let him proceed with the reboot and get stopped when XP can't find hal. Oh well, I was about ready to reformat that hard drive and reinstall anyway. So, I won't be recommending Iyogi, and I will now stop recommending Avast since they sent me there. Any opinions on the best AV software these days?
Hi Friends i had worked with Iyogi its the biggest fraud company ever heard even they tell their employees to do thefraud
this person is either unbalanced or very hatelful. Can't tell if they had an experience with this iYogi or not, but all I read is a bunch of gibberish. Can't really take this seriously.
credit card fraud
I was contacted by a credit-card fraud investigator last week. He told me that there were three charges on my Visa account that appeared to be fraudulent. He reviewed them with me: One dated 3/12/11 for $23.95 for "Cinemax" in Mombai, India, and on the same day, $945.41, charged to "Big Bazaar", also in Mombai. Just by looking over my charges, it was obvious that I could not have been anywhere near India at that time. There was a third charge for Bed, Bath and Beyond, a local store, dated the day before, for about $100. I haven't shopped there in at least five years. I suspect that this was an iYogi charge by phone. I haven't had any credit card problems with anyone else.
I strongly suspect some of the iYogi staff were responsible for the fraud because they are the only business in India I have ever paid by credit card. They are the only ones with my number. I won't be using my credit card in this way again.
Just a day or so before the fraud happened, the technician who was helping me at iYogi was not able to solve my problem, and, at the same time a man from my church, who is very computer savvy, came along and was able to fix it. He is actually an old friend I have worked with in the church office, and he does not want to charge me anything to be on call to help me. I cancelled my services with iYogi, and they had to refund $300. It's not too much of a stretch to think that they were angry at me for cancelling and got back at me by running up my credit card.
iYogi has given me some good service over the past couple of years. They nearly always have solved the problem. They were always courteous and polite.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Iyogi worked on my PC almost 3yrs. I know a little so I would only call them with an unfamiliar problem .It was getting close to me renewing so they sweating me they sbotodged my pc thinking I didnt know. Then had the nerve to tell me after 3 yrs I never paid the service I gess they must think I'm a Iddiot . I know how good they are whith Iyogi you give them permission to basicly hack into your pc to fix problems . so they called me to try to make good but I lost trust in Iyogi. I formatted my hardrive to get rid of Iyogi
Two (2) years ago, I ended up closing my bank account and then opening a new one (new number) due to fraud (e.g. telephone calls to areas on Africa, the purchase of a bicycle in Washington, D.C. (don't live there, don't own a bicycle) among other things. My bank honored the fraud and 'refunded' the money eventually. I eventually discovered that it was done through an e-mail SUPPOSEDLY from my bank asking me to log-on as 'routine' security check; from there you put in your 'username' and password. It never goes to the bank, since I then found out the bank NEVER will ask for such information, but the person behind the fraud then has your name and information. I also called all the telephone numbers for purchases made and found that these were all done by call-in.
scare tactics
Nightmarish is not a strong enough word for what I went through last night. I simply was trying to access McAfee, via the internet, and was immediately having a conversation with someone with very broken english. I had a simple ? about my account with McAfee. I was told that they could help me with it and was asked to fill in info. they put on the screen. I said I only had a question and he said that it was necessary to fill it out. When credit card info. came up to fill in, I asked why should I put this info. in. He said to pay for it. I told him I didn't call to buy anything, I just have a question. I did not put my credit card info. in but by the end of the conversation I was sure they could find out anything about me. I was then transferred to someone else who assured me he could help. Meanwhile no one had asked what my question was. He then proceded to show me how my computer was corrupted and it was only a matter of pretty much hours until my computer crashed. It was very, very hard to understand him. I realized pretty fast that this was all about trying to sell me something. Indeed, a 3 yr. contract was $400 and he made it sound like was there wasn't anything they couldn't help me with and I shouldn't trust just any tech support company. I told him that after I talked to my husband and looked into the company I'd get back in touch if I decided to proceed. I was imediately put in touch with a supervisor and he asked what do you want to know about the company? It was a ridiculous question and I felt like a hostage. I told him that I didn't call them for any tech support and that I didn't like their scare tactics. After researching this company I found my instincts were right.

Hi, we are not responsible for that, please stop telling lies, we have the call recorded, if you did not need techsupport why did you call us? we are not doing any charity work.

fraudulent behaviour
This concerns iYogi, a firm offering on-line computer software repair service.
All transactions were made by telephone, no paper documents ever exchanged.
I can only hope that my report corroborates that of others,
see also what a Google search of "iYogi scam" shows.
I subscribed to their services one year ago because I had a PRINTER problem.
They solved the problem successfully.
Their quote for a one-year subscription was $ 40.
When I got my credit statement it was for $ 140.
I never used them again.
A year later, last week, they called me if I wanted to renew. I declined.
The next day, I found all my PRINTER software had been deleted.
I also found that re-installing my PRINTERS was blocked.
I also found that my machine had become virtually unuseable,
because its speed was reduced by a factor of approx. 100.
Calling up a certain windows took several minutes, instead of the usual couple of seconds.
Apparently, iYogi had hacked into my computer.
This week I found my credit card debited for $ 140.
As I understand, keeping credit card information after a transaction is complete, is illegal.
I conclude that iYogi use fraudulent if not criminal methods to cheat customers.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am a computer technician with a small business helping mostly older folks. The other day, one of my customers had a paper jam on his HP all-in-one printer. After he cleared it, the printer would no longer print the top inch of every page. Everything else on the printer worked fine (2 months old). Everything on my customer's computer was fine (just 3 months old) . My customer attempted to contact HP support to troubleshoot the printer, and somehow called iYogi instead. Without my customer paying anything, the iyogi tech took remote control of the computer, sabotaged the printer, put the system into safe mode, and then claimed that their were so many junk files on the system that a $200 service fee was required to fix the computer. Remember, the customer is just trying to troubleshoot his printer not printing the top inch of every page. When he reminds the tech of this, the tech said the printer wasn't working because of all the junk files. My customer refused to pay the $200 fee, and the tech hung up on him. After calling back to have iYogi undo what they did, he got the run around, and was hung up on several times. After a call to me, I was astonished by the horror story he told me about HP's customer support. I told him to call corporate and complain, which he did. Luckily, HP (corporate) provided a free tech that undid most of the damage caused by iYogi, allowing my customer to at least use his computer again. Unfortunately, his printer is still broken (most likely a damaged print head) and he needs to get a warranty ticket started still. ALL this happened because Brother decided not to make a Windows 8 compatible driver for one of their older printers which, by the way, had no problems in 12 years. Poor guy is so frustrated, he wants to just get rid of the computer... which would be unfortunate for his family and friends.
Stay away from iYogi! It's not that the techs at iYogi are impossible to understand, its not even the poor service they provide, it's the fact that their is a LONG history of this company taking advantage of people. I recommend everyone follow Avast!'s example and cut all ties with iYogi, and begin exploring international litigation options for fraud.
I have a new HP computer out of the box less than 3 months. Had software problems from the start (Windows 8). Called tech support for HP. They fixed my problems by recovering OS. Later 2 weeks get call from iyogi same people stating my computer was unstable and they could fix it for 169.00. I refused and they got hostile on the phone. I tried to install Avasti security and it would not install. I called Avasti and had them confirm on the phone that they were not iyogi. After they trouble shot my computer they confirmed that Iyogi had corrupter my OS. I will now take my computer to a repair shop and have it fixed. No more dealings with HP or iyogi. It is cheaper to have it done right by locals than the big company.
I totally agree with you. They're thief. In fact I worked as contractor for them and they tried to steal from me as well saying no pay because customer has not paid and when checked with customer they said they did. Stay away from this filthy company. They're an Indian company working internationally. They should be banned from US for fraudulent behavior.
Technical Support Scam
Saturday 19th February 2011: I was called my Microsoft Support to say that my computer had registered a problem with them. I assumed that my wife, who isn't particularly technical, had been using my desktop and had encountered a problem which had emailed itself to Microsoft. She tends to just click anything to make annoying wndows go away! So I said that I would welcome their input on whatever problem my PC had encountered. Unfortunately, before we could do anything I lost the phone connection. I immediately called Microsoft Support, explained my problem and was put through to a technican, who I stupidly assumed was from Microsoft. It wasn't until hours later that he revealed that he was from iYogi, who supplement Microsoft Support.
Having explained my situation, he asked if he could have access to my computer in order to run a scan on it. This, I duly gave him and he began to run his scan. Whilst it was running he asked if I had any other computers, to which I informed him that I had three laptops, mine and my two kids each have one. By this time the scan was already showing serious 'malware' infections which he explained would have to be removed. He also reccommended that I give him access to the three other laptops in order to scan them at the same time. This was duly done and a couple of hours later, after he had explained at great length how I should only allow 'Microsoft Level Three Certified' technicians access to my computers, which rather counted out any further access for my wife! He showed me that I had several very serious 'malware' infections on all my computers. After consulting with his 'Level Three Certified' technician at great length, he informed me that they would all have to be removed, along with the conflicting protection software packages that I apparently had, and the large amounts of junk data which I had accumulated.
At this point, begining to suspect a scam, I explained that I use McAfee protection packages on all my computers, which I had already paid for. He then told me that they would have to remove all the protection packages, the malware and all the junk, installing their own protection package on each of my computers, for only a small fee of around £130 per computer! I pointed out (again!) that I had bought and paid for my McAfee licenses and didn't want to uninstall their software. To which he replied that I couldn't run conflicting protection packages on my computers and that theirs was much better than McAfee's.
By now, convinced that it was all a scam and extremely annoyed with myself for falling for their sales patter, I demurred by asking how they could possibly know what was 'junk' as it might be something that I wanted to keep. I also asked for them to put their offer into writing for me, preferably in the form of an email. Their response was that, having taken my card details they wouldn't extract the payment for three days, during which time I would receive an email detailing what I had paid for. I said that I wanted an email detailing exactly what I was being offered and at what price, before I made any form of payment.
By now my technician could sense that he was losing me and the sale, rather helped by my dropping of his connections to all my laptops. So he asked if he could put his supervisor on the line. I agreed, and simply reiterated to him my desire for their offer to be put into writing in an email prior to any payment being made on my part. He also proceeded to explain that what I was asking wasn't part of their operating procedure and thus he was unable to comply. I was then put onto their 'Manager' (although he was probably just the tea boy!) who also proceeded to explain that what I was requesting wasn't allowed as part of their company procedures. I then gave them some ### that in British Law I was entitled to request that their offer, be put into writing for my consideration prior to any payment being made. The 'Manager' then seemed to get a bit worried, but by now I had become fed up with the whole thing, convinced that it was simply another scam that I had almost fallen for. Although I did get a free scan of all my computers done, but whether the discovered 'malwares' are nasty and should be removed, I'll have to check with McAfee.

Case No [protected] for Computer ID C101330633 - I upgraded my Avast and they suggested that I immediately have my computer cleaned and connected iYogi. They spent 2 hours cleaning and when another 2 trying to fix their errors. This went on for 4 days until 1:00 in the morning and after 4 hours of sleep, starting over. When I came home that night, the computer has crashed to the point that they cannot even get it to boot up in safe mode. Spent another 3-1/2 to be told they could not do anything. I think they owe me a computer. It was a little slow but at least I had one. They take no responsibility for making my computer toast. Had to beg for a refund and after screaming at them, they still will not replace even though it is documented in 4 days of paperwork that they ruined my computer. Do not let these people in your computer.
The site is a fraud and a scam
The site is a fraud and a scam. I was directed to iYogi.com by CA Technologies because I thought that my new computer with Windows 7 was running a little slow. The self proclaimed "experts" at iyogi convinced me to let them log in remotely to analyze the problem. They very quickly found hundreds of "error files" and "error folders." Since those "error" files and folders were "obviously the problem, " the experts deleted "all of the files and charged me $169.99 for their trouble under the assumption that I might need their "expertise" again. My computer immediately crashed and became inoperable. About the same time my computer became infected with hundreds of Trojan Horse viruses. Upon further investigation by a real expert, I discovered that all of those "error files and folders" are ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for the operation of Microsoft 7. I had to do a complete System Restore to undo the damage.
Iyogi promised to refund my money. After over two weeks, I have yet to see a refund. I have contacted them 4 times now and get the same answer, "your refund has been processed, but I don't know what happened, you will get it in 72 hours.
Save your time and money
iyogi.net support full of fraud
I had a simple question to ask the customer support number listed by Norton 18773143516. The call went to a tech guy located in India. My question was "I have upgraded my Norton Internet security to Norton internet security 360 premier version couple of days ago, this upgrade lets me to download the program to my 3 computers. of which now I would like to download the software on my laptop". The guy walked me to login to view my computer and download for me". I agreed and he played with my commuter for a few minutes and told me that I have a registery problem and he will need to fix that problem first which will cost $169.99 (to cover 1 year support) from IYogi.net. This is a fraud because I was sure there was no problem with any of my programs or soft ware downloaded on my laptop. I declined and logged in to my account on the laptop for Norton and clicked download Norton 360 P Ver-4, and it did the rest and completed the task gave a message that you have successfully downloaded the product and you are protected. While Norton on line services in the USA work wonders with such a great software and auto on line services, why have they hired a third rate fraudulent company for their live support.
I tried to contact the Norton office to complaint about iyogi.net incident since there is no way to send a written complaint to them directly. I called number 6505278000 and was on hold for about 45 minutes but no one responded and had no option but to hang up and place a complaint here.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Also the leader of this community doesnt even know how to symantec.. SO How can you expect anything from this DUMB person ?
First of all [censor] you [censor], we are not slaves to help you install some software. if you seek help and you will require to pay.. as simple as that.
So [censor] keep this in mind before you make any accusations. I know you are some dumb [censor] who doesnt know how to use computer. next time if you need any help then go to local store and tell them the problem and then call me and tell me... did you pay for the support?
I think iYogi is misleading customers by saying they are authorized representatives of multiple companies. I had an issue with my DVD player of Lenovo. My wife thought she is talking with Lenovo. They misrepresent themselves as they are Lenovo contracted them for all support. Then they installed some software to my laptop that started backing up my hard disk. I could not even uninstall the software, as it says, I need internet connection for that. God knows what they are doing with that software they are installing. Now I have to reimage my computer to avoid any theft of senstive files on my laptop. They should be sued for using big company names the way they are.
Stay off of iYogi. It's a total scam. I just renewed my Norton 360 and for some reason it wouldn't install properly. I googled it and got this number on the top, so I called the number and was answered by a Tech support person, I asked him if this is Norton Support and he said yes and told me I got the correct number. I explained him my problem with installation, he wanted to remote login to my computer to check few things, I let him under close watch, he then started complaining about some registry issues and ran wanted to run some scan and it picked up a ton of errors (No way my pc is that bad). I realized that very moment that its a scam to sell their services. He then offered me to fix the issues for $100 I politely said no, I don't need it, I can do it myself and hung up. Then, I did a registry clean up by downloading a free s/w from cnet, just to be sure, restarted the PC, uninstalled Norton and re-installed it and it worked! Norton should address this issue.
My names were different but sounds like the same scam. I Googled Norton and ended up with phone number. [protected]. I also ran into an Indian tech making out like my pc was infected and only he could solve. When I said nothing beyond the Norton product he dropped off the line pronto. They called themselves Pccare247. Sounded like a scam if I ever heard one.
Hi People, take your time to read through this, Iyogi is a third party independent Technical service provider, this means that they do not have contracts with any OEM's (original equipment manufacturers) and ISV's (Independent software vendors) like A / V providers symantec, etc. They are a genuine company but their name spoiled because of Idiotic technical support engineers, ok so it works like this, Iyogi gets its revenue from providing technical support services this means that they need more subscribers to their annual plans and stuff like that. the engineers are given targets to do sale on calls that they get from callers who are not subscribers with Iyogi, These one of a kind a$$h0L3 "Tech support engineers" would naturally try to sell the subscription but these engineers are not technically trained to the core kinda people, they get trained only on the basics that would be enough to make a sale. But their true Technical expertise and core engineers would be made available only if the caller is subscribed with Iyogi, how ever Its clear that these so called tech support engineers who push for sale by [censored]!ng saying that the computer is scrwed up and pitch for sale for 166.99, are being weeded out through some kind of quality compliance measures, but Iyogi needs to do something much more than that to stay in the business, like not concentrating on revenue alone but also to provide proper training and ensure that honesty is followed by the sales agents when pitching for sale rather than showing up errors for something completely different than the one the customer is calling for. And ensure that best technical support is provided by best technical support engineers like geeksquad.
By the way how did you land up calling norton? simple you guys do not look at the numbers and the wordings when you do a search, I would actually say that you are at fault. Iyogi uses a technique called SEO, Search engine Optimization, what happens is that when you try searching for something in google you would actually get something else, because companies like Iyogi pays google to list their website and their phone number much ahead of the actuall company that you are looking for, So kindly look closely before you guys call any number. Best bet go to Symantec website and get our technical support number and then call.
No, I don't work for Iyogi but technical researcher working on behalf of Symantec.
If you have complaints regarding Iyogi do not try talking to your provider or A V vendor and complaint against iyogi rather send your complaints to feedback@iyogi.net. --leuneg Herkoshi
Same scam was tried on me. I bought a net laptop on 10/19/11. all worked well. the 60 day trial period for norton expired so I bought the $49.99 norton internet security which came with 3 licenses.in my infinite wisdom I decided to install it in both my new laptop & old desktop. now my problems began, primarily they ran like they were swimming in quicksand. internet revealed norton support was iyogi with a toll free number [protected].
I called on about 10/31 & tried to speak to a woman whom I could barely understand, I repeatedly asked her to transfer me to someone in the u.s. a. all to no avail. after 45 minutes of frustration she said I needed a technician & that was not a free service. I said goodbye & hung up.
I called again on 11/1 & spoke to a fellow named dhuvr for about one hour &15 minutes while they did their search of the problems on both computers. needless to say I have problems. they wanted $299.99 to fix 1 computer with a 2 year guarranty. I told him I could buy a new computer for that kind of money. he then said he could fix it for $169.99 & $130.00 for the laptop with 1 year guarranty. I reminded him that my problems only began after I installed norton software. that was the price to fix it, so I hung up. the real pisser is I had a friend fix it for me for $20.00. note visa does not cancel payment for anything less than $50.00 {I paid $49.99)
Norton is definitly on my # list.
iyogi is the phone number listed on Norton Security as their tech support. I just wanted to know why my identity safe didn't work once I upgraded my Mozilla Firefox. After paying the 169.99 to have it "repaired" for what they said was multiple issues, my computer was so messed up, I lost everything I had on my computer, even my Norton Security software! After 6 hours on the phone with 3 different "techs" I had to yell at them to get the f%%% my computer. They ruined my laptop. I went to Staples where I bought it and they did the best they could, but my computer no longer runs correctly and I have to buy a new one. I am going to write a letter to Norton and to iYogi and if I am not compensated for my computer, I am going to take them to court, both Norton and iYogi. FRAUD FRAUD SCAM SCAM
Same scam was attempted with me about 3 hours ago. I have a brand new lenovo laptop (60 days old). I had purchased a new 2-year subscription to norton 360 premier ($125) and could not get it installed and registered. found the number on google search - iyogi remotely fiddled around and downloaded some "pc scan" fake program that showed I had over 5, 000 problems with my new computer that they could fix for $169.99/year, and if I didn't let him fix it my computer would just shut down and I may as well throw it away. what a crock of s_t! I told the guy to stick his fakey program up is butt and hung up... then immediately called the geek squad and a cool young guy told me that all I had to do was uninstall the old version of nis and then I would be able to correctly install the new version. within 5 minutes I had my computer updated and scanned. then I did the same thing to my other 2 computers. I have used norton products for over 10 years but I am seriously considering a different program - this kind of "support" is not the way a professional company does business.
I had a similar experience as described in the rest of these comments concerning iyogi.net on Saturday, September 10, 2011 when I tried to contact Norton regarding a problem with my security system. Like many of the other comments the man was from India that represented he was working for Norton but when he took control of my computer I went to the iyogi.net site. When I asked him about that site he said I should cancel out of that site and he would try again after we did this several times he explained that he was a consultant for both iyogi and Norton and I was just probably seeing the wrong screen. After nearly an hour searching my computer he told me he could do nothing for me because my computer was so corrupted; however, for $169.99 he could help me through iyogi for a year to make certain that this did not happen to my computer again. I didn't take the "deal." I have no idea how to get in touch with Norton to actually determine why their security system has not been effective (I too have the 360 All-in-One Security System). Does anyone know how to contact Norton? I tried to email Norton but had no success because the reply was electronically generated and I could not respond to it. I am afraid to call or go on line again where someone will say they can not help me unless they take control of my computer. I have had Norton security for years but this is an absolute scam. I have no idea why they would become involved in something this disgusting that totally ruins their reputation. I agree that McAfee looks like the direction to go even though I have over 100 days left on Norton contract.
iYogi technical support
I bought a wireless router and was having problems downloading to my laptop so contacted the number for technical support which was iYogi. Long story short one of their techs crashed my computer. I was guaranteed that my laptop would be restored within 48 hours by their Expert Group and they would call me back within a specific time frame. They did not call me back nor were they able to restore my computer...surprise, surprise. They did refund my money of $39.99 ~ big deal. I don't have a working laptop and now at this point lost all of my information...It is 1130PM and they continue to call me back after I told them I no longer wanted to discuss the situation with them and that my attorney would be contacting them. Has anyone found a way to receive further reimbursement from them if they had their computers crash because of their negligence from their technical support? iYogi is a joke and I believe it is a big scam!
