I filed my taxes on [protected] I was told that I would have my refund 3 days after the irs accepted my return wich they did the next day. I am now being told that this is a big lie and that it will be 8-15 days. So now I have no money and they charged me 323 dollars for nothing and they are not willing to do a damn thing about it. I will never go back their and I will post complaints where ever I can I can not believe they are just allowed to lie and get away with it. Jackson hewitt is ripping off the american people who are struggling so bad right now. They should be put out of business!

Deceptive practices
This concerns my experiences as a Jackson Hewitt customer on Tuesday, January 26th 2009.
It was NOT a good experience.
First, some explanation is in order. Like so many people right now, the phrase “a rock & a hard place” barely begins to describe the dire straits my family & I find ourselves in. An eviction notice was served on us resulting in being locked out of our home. I won't bore you with the rest of the details. Since Jackson-Hewitt's heavily advertised next-day refund seemed to be our best way out of this predicament (a solution that I was highly reluctant to use for obvious reasons that we all know), we first went to the nearest location to our (used-to-be home) here in High Point NC.
The young gentleman there (apparently a recent immigrant from somewhere, with an accent so heavy it was hard to understand) could hardly function without calling a supervisor first, wasting time over a question he should have already known the answer. Having no time to waste (locked out of our house, desperate...remember?) we went to the next nearest Jackson-Hewitt location.
The office supervisor, did a warm & competent job in preparing our taxes. We explained our emergency situation to her, & how important a next-day refund was to us due to our situation, as well as admitting that otherwise, I would've done the taxes myself. This is an important fact to bear in mind, & is at the core of my complaint with Jackson-Hewitt's services. She was kind, patient, & knowledgeable in helping us navigate through what we needed to do. This makes what happened at the end of our transaction with Jackson-Hewitt's services even more suspect.
Remember, we had explained up front when we first sat down at the supervisor's desk how important & crucial a next-day refund was to my entire now-homeless family. Moreover, this was explained to a woman with 30 years experience in tax preparation (by her own words) and undoubtedly several years experience within the Jackson-Hewitt organization to have risen to the position of Office Supervisor. After the two hours of work to slog through our brief foray into retail business, then we find out that self-employment dis-qualifies us for the one reason we were there in the first place. We were left feeling obligated since she had spent all this time with us. Meanwhile, she did or said nothing that would indicate our right to walk away since our chief goal (which we disclosed as soon as we sat down at her desk) was not met.
This was inexcusable, & strikes me as a deceptive sales practice since our preparer knew what our situation was & through her vast tax-preparing experience with Jackson-Hewitt, no doubt knew the next-day refund policy concerning self-employment income, but did not disclose it up front. This deception cost us $385.95 for a refund that we would've not gotten any sooner than if I had e-filed (via Turbo-Tax). That included charging us 49.95 to issue the check.
In addition, I am forced to conclude that this is apparently company policy not to disclose such important information first, since she was otherwise so extremely pleasant & helpful. In addition, blaming it on the bank that Jackson-Hewitt runs these transactions through is not a valid excuse either, which was explained via previous paragraphs concerning the preparer's experience.
Due to these factors, I can only conclude that we were victims of deceptive sales policies set at Jackson-Hewitt's corporate level, that have much more in common with a shady used-car dealership than a nationwide tax-preparation firm.
So, much like our experiences with Jackson-Hewitt, I have saved until last what my policy will be concerning this matter:
First & foremost, Jackson-Hewitt has seen the first and last dime will ever get from me or any member of my family. We were willing to put up with the exorbitant fees & interest of a next-day “refund” at rates that would make a loan shark salivate, as the price we had to pay to have a roof over our heads. We are not willing to do so under these fraudulent circumstances.
Next, I will avail myself of every local media outlet with a consumer affairs division & send them a copy of this letter. I don't think I have to tell anyone that the fact that Jackson-Hewitt advertises with these same media outlets will not shield them. Car dealerships tried that concerning disparaging articles about their sales practices that have appeared in newspapers & TV stations across the country only to have that kind of finagling & advertiser “boycotting” struck down in several court cases concerning the rights of a free press.
Next, we have the internet. I will be visiting as many consumer-protection sites as I possibly can to spread the word about how this all went down. Geometric progression will take care of the rest.
I have written the company so they know that I'm dead serious about taking these steps, & they will not simply evaporate due to the struggles we're having.

HELLO, I WENT TO HAVE MY TAXES FILE AT JACKSON HEWITT. AND THEY WERE FILED INCORRECTLY. NOW JACKSON HEWITT ADMITTED THEY WERE FILE IMPROPERLY. BUT WONT GIVE ME BACK THE MONEY, THAT THEY TOOK TO FILE MY TAXES. WHICH IS NOT RIGHT. I BEEN TRYING EVER SINCE TO RECEIVE. MY MONEY FROM THEM. WHICH I FEEL WAS TAKEN INJUSTLY. MY NUMBER IS [protected].
First, I am a JH Franchisee and apologize for the experience. However, the RAL banks make the rules for RALs (24-48 hour loans), not Jackson Hewitt or H&R Block or anyone else for that matter. Sometimes preparers don't know whether someone will pre-qualify for a RAL until they do the entire tax return. There's a bank book about 40 pages long that explains the rules and cannot by committed to memory. Again, I apologize and wish the result was different for you.
Poor and rude customer service
I went there january 8 to have my taxes prepared. Krystal the preparer not only filed my taxes wrong but instead of being honest and admitting that she was new and asking for asisstance, she and her co-workers continued to be dehonest saying they would not charge me to make the correction which would require waiving the fee for an admendment. So when I called todat they told me they can't waived the fee for the admendment. I feel I shouldn't be charged for her mistake. Then I ask for the number to the corporate office, she told me they can't give out the number. I looked up corporate and all they could tell me was sorry. So I paid $184.00 to be told sorry and do the amendment my self. Me, my family and friends always have taxes our taxes prepared at jackson hewitt. We will seek other avenues.

Unprofessional
I had an appointment w jackson hewitt 11-16-09 i called a week before and asked if i had to have had my taxes done there in the past to get the moneypower line of credit loan. i was told "no" that has nothing to do with this. Well the printers were not working when i had my aptmnt. so i wasted my lunch hr. n had to go back after work, the guy who "helped" me seemed unfamiliar with the basic steps of the process and was receiving personal texts on his phone, reading and laughing at about them, and texting back in between entering my info into the computer. Of course i was denied even though i made under $40, 000 and have 2 qualified dependent. (My refund is around $5000) So i had to write to MetaBank to see why. The response said "INSUFFICIENT HISTORY OF TAX RELATED LOAN PRODUCTS" So i called the # in the letter they said it was because i never had a loan with Jackson Hewitt before. when i told them that jackson hewitt said that it was not mandatory, they said "we cannot control what Jackson Hewitt tells their customers.

Very interesting information. I would be scared away if the company said they could geive me a loan on my money..
Scam and cheating
You should check out the sub standard loans Jackson Hewitt is offering to the public. The loans themselves pray upon desperate people to get only a small amount of money. The borrower usually gets either about 400 or 200. These loans not only include huge fees for the loan themselves but also have a contengent fee that requires the borrower to put their refund on the card in additon to the original loan. They then charge an addition fee of 1.5% to load the card (a debit card) and fees for every transaction. These loans need to be exposed for what they are. The borrower pays an effective APR of up to 400% interest. It usually works out as a loan for about 60 days and you pay back sometimes over 600 to get 400 and up to 400 to get 200. What a deal. The contengent fees are not well disclosed.
I cannot talk to you directly as I am a franchisee, but the company is based out of NJ and I think what we are doing is taking advantage of desparate people.
These loans are a terrable product that only serves to make a large company millions while they take advantage of the poor.

Customer service
I just got off the phone with a gent named Phillip at Jackson Hewit at 15th and Custer in plano. I asked for a copy of my signed tax return from last year. He stated that he could draft that for me, but I should call [protected] to get an idea if there is a closer store. I called and punched in 75093. The automated service directed me to a 'customer service' rep named Stella. She refused to give me her location. She stated that she owen the company. She told me that I should go to speak with Phillip. She then hung up on me.
Great customer service from Jackson Hewitt in Plano, TX. :-(

Bad business
I've been going to JH since 2017 and hadb't had any problems until I moved to Delaware Oh. in 2017. That office was completly incompitent and charged me for a city tax form that was never filed. I kept getting notices from the city saying that I never filed.
On top of that they didn't seem to catch the fact that Columbus was still charging me for an entire year and a half for taxes even though I did not live or work in Columbus anymore. When I asked them about it they said that was normal. I called the city and they said they have been wrongly taking taxes out accidentally and refunded my money after filling out a form. When JH was notified about this and I demanded some type of compensation for these 2 issues the woman became very rude. So I called the main office and told them what was happening and assured me she would be able to fix it. To make sure they'd fix it I put a stop payment on my check for that years taxes they had just done.
Long story short they never fixed the problem and just denied everything. Eventually a very nice lady at from the city helped me fix all the problems JH caused for FREE.
I will never pay that much money for those idiots to do my taxes again. It's a overpriced especially when all they do is enter numbers into their computer and don't pay attention half the time to what they enter. Even though it's a pain in my butt I'm just going to do my own taxes this year FREE of charge. I bet I'll even do a better job than JH.

I filed my taxes with Jackson Hewitt in Lancaster SC. on Jan 29th and still have not recieved a return!I am eligible for the $8, 000 first time home buyer tax credit plus my state and federal return. I have been back to check on the the status and one person tells me something and another tells me something else. Pretty much I've been getting the run-around so to speak. I was relying on this money to get my house set up. On two seperate occasions I was told I would recieve a return in 6 wks. Another person told me 26wks. Quite frankly I am pissed and will not deal with Jackson Hewitt again after this year.
After getting my taxes done she said it would be$272.i wrote a check.when signing for my tax returnes there was a form that had gold guarantee on top with a fee of $40 .i ask what it was.they explained i said i didnt want it.tried to talked me into to it.they refunded my money from the $272.i dont like the fact they tried to sneek in a form without asking me from the beginning.wish i didnt let them do my taxes.by the way they are located in walmart.that should have been a red flag.
I was charged over a 1000 dollars in fees. I don't know how I got to owe them a 1000 dollars in fees. I got one loan from them, after they had denied me three times in the past. I don't know who to get in contact with to see why I owe all the fees. If I just got one loan from them for 300 dollars why do I owe almost a1000 dollars? They even charged me from last year to. I just don't understand. Please can I get some help to figure this out? They have people working for them getting loans in people names and keeping there money.
On January 2017, I spoke with a Jackson Hewitt office (Okeechobee and Military Taril in WPB FL) to set up an appointment to do my taxes for the year of 2017, they kept all my information, my documents, my personal and business statements, and I was suppose to receive a phone call from the person in charge of doing my taxes. When Feb. 09 came, I called, I visited the office where I left my file, they kept saying that the CPA was in the process of finishing my 1120 S, I waited another month, On March I began to worry about my taxes, they were due on March 15, 09. After making several phone calls, and several visits, they told me that they ask for an extension and no to worry for the following week I should be with my business taxes done, and ready for my personal taxes.
Well, on April 5th, the person in the office said: “We don't want to do your taxes now; I'm giving you your documents back".
So, I had to run and get someone more responsible and serious to do the job they were supposed to do. Now I wonder why they couldn't say at the beginning that they were too busy or whatever reason they had to not do my taxes. There are a lot of tax companies out there, there is no problem for me to look for someone else, but you can't just keep me waiting for 3 months, waste my time, and make me pay double to someone else and do my taxes in a big rush before April 15, 09 which is the last day for personal taxes.
I would not recommend that company for business taxes to anyone, they may do your personals, but not business, looks like they need to look for some other CPA (not a Jackson Hewitt Rep, ) to do it for them.
I can't believe this. I just found out that Jackson Hewitt does not always file tax returns as they state they will. Is there anybody from Colorado Springs, Colorado, who has had trouble with Jackson Hewitt not submitting tax returns for them?
Please contact us - we will try to help you but cannot make any promises - there will be no charge for helping.

Making contact
I have worked for and had my taxes with Jackson Hewitt. In Kansas City, MO and surrounding areas - Grandview, Independence . .. The phone numbers for the stores roll to Indiana and you are told that they are too busy to answer etc. I had questions about my last years taxes but was unable to speak with anyone. Also when starting this years tax class I was sent to the wrong location, wich left me stranded in my wheelchair, in the rain. All calls eventually roll to Indiana and no one ever seems sure about what's going on - class start dates etc. nor is there website kept up to date.

Income tax
I went to a store location in Chipley to file my taxes electronically. This was done on Jan. 21, 2009, I asked for my taxes to be back within the two week period which would have been Feb. 6, 2009 at the latest I would have gotten them back. It is now March 2, 2009 still no taxes... I call Jackson Hewitt they act like they do not want to help me at all and I call the Irs and they say that Jackson Hewitt is having auditing problems. But of course when I tell Jackson Hewitt this, they do not want to believe me. What should I do in a situation like this?

My husband passed away in 2012 I told the person doing my taxes that last year Ihad to file an injured spouse form (had to do it last year) Iexplained to her the reason she said Ididn't need to do it this time. WRONG my refund was sent to another state because of a child support case that was closed many years ago (my husband's who is deceased)A check was sent back to me in both of ous names I CAN NOT get a Death Certificate issued to me because we were not "LEGALLY" married just lived as man and wife for 23 yrs.also my son had his taxes prepared at Jackson Hewitt his is a mess too! Jackson Hewitt needs to train or teach the people that work for them uugghh
In NYC we are having the same problem they are over charging on the tax fees and when you call to find out infomation your being tranfered to India and we are here in New York City you are not giving a number to contact the local office in which you had filed at and submitted your money too I think they should shut down this company and make sure that this never happens to poor communities again and make them pay a very large fine to the government for cheating tax payers out of their monies and make it be a learning lesson to greedy companies who wish to follow their bad methods.
Then why did you sign the paperwork? see thats half your problem you didnt bother to listen or read anything you signed! now whose fault is it!
ya the $358 was just for there services not to get your refund back faster. Try Liberty Mutual my friend went there and got his check back fast.
I also went to Jackson Hewitt to file my taxes.I filed Feb. 2 and should of had them back on Feb. 20 and still no taxes.I told them i paid 358.00 to have my taxes done and to get it back in 8-15 days. They told me that the 358.00 was just to have them filled out. That is false advertising isn't it?

On 01-14-2009 Ms.Butler issued me a "Money now loan" pending
my w2 arrival. She estimated my refund to be 7098 which was correct. After getting my w2, She electronically filed my taxes on01-28-2009.We discussed my unpaid finances and she assured me that if I go ahead and file on that day that she could have my check in 7 days. She applied me for a "refund anticipation loan" and it was deined because of something in my tax preparation. After waiting 2 weeks and still no check I visited Ms.butler and she told me that it was not her problem that it was the irs.She was very rude and unprofessional.

Scam
This complaint against Jackson Hewitt Tax Service is not new, but ongoing ever since our 2005 and 2006 Federal and State Income Tax was wrongfully prepared. For 2005 I had to pay $1, 273.51 for overpayment of Federal Income Tax. For 2006 I had to pay $1, 609.60 for overpayment of South Carolina State Income Tax. That totals $2883.11 I had to pay out of pocket for ridiculous mistakes made by two incompetent tax preparers employed by Jackson Hewitt.
Ms. Kovolenko has taken some responsibility and reimbursed us for a substantial amount of the tax overpayment, but only several hundred dollars more than I have had to pay. The $1, 609.60 overpayment from the South Carolina State Tax is money I never received. The entire amount ($2, 231.00) was issued to Loris Hospital in South Carolina for billing quite a few years ago for services my wife’s ex-husband failed to pay. I can live with that fact, but to have to pay back money I didn’t receive due to a mistake Jackson Hewitt made is not acceptable. Had the state income tax been prepared correctly I would not have had to pay $1, 609.60 I never had or was supposed to have. Since beginning this letter of complaint I have received another notice from the South Carolina Department of Revenue that I additionally owe $311.00 for the year of 2005.
Obviously Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and/or Ms. Kovolenko has decided that taking 50% responsibility for their mistakes is satisfactory and I should be content with the decision. I am not. If Jackson Hewitt was the reputable company they claim to be this calamity would be totally rectified.

I t took over nite and the lady was still having trouble with her computer. I think a tax office should have back up. I went down the block to another co. The lady was very polite but there was nothing she could do, plus she had a pile of returns waiting,
False advertising, mishandling of private information, all around bad service. American Express serve card is a joke and scam, metabank should not do contracts that they are not equipped to handle, all of these businesses need costumer service training. They make you feel so violated. Scamming hard working people.
I was charged outrageous to jave my taxes Done. The return was supposed to be put on a Jackson Hewitt surve card and it was sent on a check. The hole reason I had it set up for the card was because I don't have a bank account. My significant other referred me to you guys. And neither one of us have received the $20 reffur a friend prize.
Although the fee was reasonable I was disappointed I was not offered the 100$ switch deal. She did not give me the opportunity to prove I switched from another tax service and then she changed the subject. I did not qualify for the Walmart gift certificate either. No reason given. I get tired of false promotions. Not sure I will use them again.
I did my takes with Kimberly Wade last year and I only received my Federal Taxes I never received my state taxes. Like where in the HELL did my money go to?
Our taxes were done incorrectly, to say the very least. We detected the errors ourselves and tried to have the information corrected, at that branch. It turned out we had to go to another office, a good distance away, several times to correct the errors. We never got a refund for the payment to have the taxes done in the first place. I would never, ever tell anyone to use Jackson Hewitt. In fact, I tell people what a nightmare it was .If you want to save yourself alot of grief, never, never waste your money on that service, go anywhere else or do it yourself.
Jackson Hewitt has been doing my husband and my taxes for years. We have always filed jointly. I wondered why we were only getting less then $400.00 back each year? This year we had ours prepaired free at the local Library, and got $1, 400, although I had to pay taxes this year because I am concidered a contractor. although I only work 2 days a week. I did not mind paying in, we still have a $788.00 refund coming. I think last year and the previous years as well, somewhere along the line, Jackson Hewitt make major mistakes with out taxes! I have all my old tax papers, what should I do? where do I go to find more info? does the irs or jackson hewitt owe us money?
They didn't tell me everything I needed to know about my return. And then when I called in to asked why I wasn't told this info- they simply told me it was fault for not knowing the right info. Since when am I suppose to know all the tax rules. Aren't they the 'professionals'? Thats a joke.
When I told them I wanted my money back the refused & said there was nothing they could do. I will never being going back to Jackson Hewitt they are a joke of a company & have a bunch of ###s working for them.
the preparer put the wrong Social security number while doing my taxes and i was sent to get all these papers from social security when in fact we found out that he didn't even put the right numbers in
Never go there ever again seems like they lied just to get money jackson hewitt *** lies screwed me dry f**k jackson hewitt h&r block from now on eat poo jackson hew.
Scam and cheating
Jackson Hewitt has employees that change your tax info without your knowledge. In 2006, i called the first Jackson Hewitt in the phonebook to see how busy they were. Once i found out that they had openings i went and had my taxes done.°2 years later, i received a letter from the IRS stating that i could be a material witness in a criminal investigation. I called them and found out that the Manager of the JH i went to 2 years in a row had altered my federal tax withholdings by over 2, 000. I was livid.
I asked the IRS agent what i had to do to resolve this. He suggested i call JH and ask them about a service they are supposed to offer called the gold guarantee, which puts any discrepancies in JH's lap. I was never offered this service and dint know it existed. JH was not willing to help and kept putting me on hold.
Now i am making arrangements to pay back 2 grand that i never asked for. In todays time noone has 2 grand laying around waiting to be spent. If anyone has a class action suit going in Philadelphia, PA please let me know by responding. The IRS said that it is over 100 people that this guy did this to.

Didn't get the amount that was on tax return. Iv'e been with jackson hewitt for 7 years plus and i think it's time i go to somebody else. Bad service this tax year.
A associate messed up my taxes by not claiming my two children a supervisor (requested a reimbursement on the filing fees which I have never received) after multiple attempts with no response I am filing complaints. My amended return was rejected by the irs.
Husband and coworker stole my money for me and my daughters im tiered of struggling with this CAN SOME JUSTIFICATION BE DONE AT ALL ANYMORE--------MICHELLE DEAN
WOW not even a f*** u thanks Jackson Hewwit yall have showed me the services
March 22, 2023 I applied to be a tax preparer for JH. The District Manager was rude and abrasive. They are having new hires complete a 60 hour training in 10 days. They say if you get something wrong just note it and pass. I have jury duty, that didn't matter. If I did not work daily I would be dismissed. This is why you get poor service! Gross.
I got my 2021 refund done on February 28 of this year at Jackson Hewitt on 3716 n. Broad st. Philadelphia pa. And still haven't received my refund yet
The current tv advertisement shows a man with pizza and states: What the...buck? Only the way it is stated sounds like he says What the...f***.
This is offennsive to me and other adults and not a very good ad for CHILDREN to be listening to.
Please stop showing the new commercial about the BUCK. It is totally offensive, especially to young children. When it starts with "What the Buck", it is definitely a stop and look at the tv. You need to reconsider your actions.
Lawsuits are going to be filed. Very offensive commercial by Jackson Hewitts scumbags.
I can't believe the new lows allowed on network TV commercials. The Jackson Hewitt "What the buck" commercials made me furious. Other families with children are specially offended. People involved what this commercial should be fined!

i use Jackson Hewitt in westbury for 8 years, they are honest knowledgable and professional. You can check on IRS.gov when your check is supposed to come. they cannot "keep your chek to pay bills". You should just call and ask for a manager...
jackson hewitt are liars the IRS said my refund will be deposited 2/11/10. I called the post ave
westbury, ny office and no check . The are trying to keep my money longer to pay their bills 8-15 days ya right.
they did the same thing to me $450.oo for nothing cause i'm stilll waiting this is the first year that they messed up my taxs so much
