Taxes
I went to Jackson Hewitt to get my taxes done, got home to read the fine print and that charged me $800 to do my taxes when it took the lady 5 minutes and she filed them wrong so I have to amend. When I filed my taxes with TurboTax it was either free or $50 at the most, this is price gouging and ridiculous. Nobody have your taxes done at Jackson Hewitt!
Tax fraud from the tax pros: Yvonne Stallworth & Mercedes Phillips
I am furious disgusted & hurt (yvonne stallworth) in the red bank road office with the help of the other tax scammer mercedes phillips in the cincinnati oh facility are fraudulent scammers who didn't even know how to read a w2 not 1 w2! Yvonne stallworth held me up in the office for 3 hour's pretending like she knew what to do as if she knew how to read a w2 preparing to rob & scam me by adding premium packages & worry free bundles & extra things that I never asked for or gave consent to, she never even discussed explained nor did she even ask me about me wanting extra packages. I never requested anything extra, she started with were going to charge you $64.50 to do my taxes then switched it & jumped to $680.95 on paper when yvonne printed out the finish, just doing what they both wanted to do! Mercedes phillips preped the fraud watched the fraud & didn't even intervien as in being so professional to finish my taxes for her or have me switch to her to get me out the door properly & professionally. Yvonne didn't even have a name tag doing my taxes neither did mercedes they kept switching screens on my taxes as if my payout & charge was going to be one thing then then printed something totally different out. They are so hateful they charged me $680.95 to file 5 regular w2s with no business added they both were not competent enough to even be doing people's taxes not even to file my four others w2s from the previous year. I had to schedule another jackson hewitt appointment. After being charged almost $700 & waiting for 3 hour's when I was already prepared & organized. That red bank rd office needs to be shut down immediately!
They make jackson hewitt look terrible
Desired outcome: I want YVONNE STALLWORTH & MERECEDES PHILLIPS TO BE INVESTIGATED!I want MY FEES DECREASED!I want THAT RED BANK RD OFFICE SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Advertising
I do not appreciate the latest commercial. I feel that it is very offensive, especially to the young kids. It is really not a very good way to promote business. I know I would pay extra to go else where just by the mere fact of your actions by publishing this very offensive, non appropriate commerical. Please remove this and express an apology, you will go far
Jackson Hewitt commercial
Your ad stating "What the buck" is disgusting. The first time it comes on and I hear it, it sounds just like What the f---. What on earth are you thinking? Especially a tax service. I wouldn't give you my business based on that commercial alone. Do companies really feel this is the way society relates? Just everyone keep getting more and more crass and in the gutter. Grow up!
Commercial
I find it offensive and vulgar for you to purposely use the word bucks to sound like the vulgar 4 letter word its meant to sound like in your recent commercial. You know what you were doing and it sounds exactly like F--- . It's distasteful and I want it taken off the air. Not everyone uses vulgar language, I don't find it funny, and several other I have spoken with regarding this commercial don't find it amusing as well in fact find it disgusting.
Desired outcome: To be taken off air.
I also object to such a vulgar rendition of the word bucks. I feel it should be removed from the air. TV and this company as well are teaching everyone that bad language is ok. There no way this was an accident.
I am really disappointed.
It is very offensive and it’s not very pleasant to have to explain to your children that they are using a word to my try to make it sound like a bad word to grab your attention then to try to explain to your children not they may not use that word also.
Shame on them and shame on the networks for using that commercial. If you have to stoop that low to use tactics like that to grab peoples attention to get customers, that’s awful and desperate.
Your "Buck" TV commercial/ad campaign
I'm not sure who the [censored] was who came up with the concept but he should be fired AFTER the [censored] exec who approved it. 150% low class trash. JH is now the absolute LAST company I'd want to do business with if your "Buck" campaign represents your business ethics. I believe the majority of the people in the country still has some semblance of morals. I don't find your trash amusing.
Desired outcome: Ease your ad campaign and fire your advertising agency and exec who approved it in the first place.
The "What the Buck... TV ad is the most disgusting repulsive TV ad I have ever seen. If I had the power, I would ban Jackson-Hewitt from ever advertising on TV again! This company should be ashamed, and they should be fined for airing such filth! I am not and now never will be a customer of this company do to this ad.
SSHAME ON YOU JACKSON-HEWIT and shame on the Televison marketing people that allow such filth on the networks!
Your most recent tv ad
I realize you think you have found a "catchy" phrase for advertising, but perhaps you should think again. As a parent, I would not want my child repeating a phrase purposely designed to imitate a NASTY word...a socially unacceptable word! And I would not want my child to repeat that at school, be misunderstood, and get in deep trouble. In watching your ad, I only paid attention in order to find out what idiotic company would come up with such a stupid phrase...in order to bring my complaint to you. Will your ad get talked about? Yes! But only in a negative fashion. And for those sorry people who think your ad is clever, they are the same sorry saps that would never use your business anyway. YOU have cost yourself plenty. This WILL be an ad people will remember, but only in the most disgusted manner, remembering never to use your company for anything!
Desired outcome: Ad should be removed from the air! You can do better!
Complaint about jackson hewitt advertisement
I am writing to express my concerns about the jackson hewitt advertisement on tv. I am extremely disgusted with the advertisement you are running on tv. I think the language is sending a wrong message to young listeners and abrasive to adults. I would never use your company after viewing the advertisement. I think you should pull the ad and fire the agency who thinks this is appropriate for the public.
What the buck commercial
I am so surprised that Jackson Hewitt would put such an offensive commercial on television. It definitely got attention, in a negative way. I would not use their tax service, because of the ad. It is sad that this would be a way to put your name out there. It is very unprofessional and in bad taste. We shouldn't have to worry about today's children hearing this and thinking that it is okay. I am offended as an adult.
Desired outcome: To have the commercial removed from broadcast.
Commercial
The new company commercial; “What the buck”is distasteful and shows lack of professionalism. The twist on words is obvious and inappropriate for public airwaves that go into homes. It speaks volumes about the character of your overall company and what you will do in the attempt to make a dollar. What happened to decency. Who in your advertising dept approved or thought this was a decent way to attract business. It’s displays a sleaziness that is definitely not amusing or inviting. Shame on this company. Totally classless.
Desired outcome: Pull the commercial
Offensive commercial
The ‘what the buck’ commercial recently released by Jackson Hewitt is both crude and totally inappropriate. There is no reason whatsoever that this or any other company has to use such coarse language. Though it may be implied, it is painfully obvious what is being suggested. If the people at this company have no interest in decency and the effect that this has on young people, the public does and I hope that they will let Jackson Hewitt know.
Desired outcome: Pull the commercial and be more responsible with your advertising.
Television commercial what the buck?
This commercial is so poor, I cannot understand why it is allowed to be broadcast on television! The audience is not always adults. Young children see this and misunderstand what is being said. If this is the way Jackson Hewitt chooses to advertise to get the viewers' attention, then there must be something extremely wrong with their business. Oh, it gets the viewers' attention, but the method used is insinuating and extremely crude. With all the words which could be used to get the attention of taxpayers, why
not cut this offensive commercial and insert one with more appropriate language? Horrible commercial!
Desired outcome: Eliminate the What the Buck commercial!
State taxes
I received several letters from the Comptroller of Maryland regarding taxes due for my 2021 returns and I paid what Jackson Hewitt calculated my taxes to be. I lived in Maryland part of the year and the rest of the year was in Florida. I contact them in October 22 when I received the first letter. Apparently they filed two tax returns and they needed to contact the Comptroller to rectify this situation. It wasn't until I return from the Christmas Holiday that I found out this was not resolved as I received two more letters from the Comptroller. I scheduled an appointment online with Jackson Hewitt for January 16, 2023 at their Port Orange location. Upon arriving I met with Bill who indicated I didn't have an appointment even though I showed him my confirmation. He was not able to help me. While I waited he called Misty at another location and I spoke to her and advised that they wasted my time as I made this appointment to come in and meet with someone who could fix my taxes. She indicated I didn't waste my time, yet my taxes are not fixed. I was told they would scan them in and send to a manager to handle. I contact them on January 18th to see who was handling and after getting the run around I was told that Ms. Lisa in the Daytona office would review and get back to me. I waited until today January 23, 2023 to contact her to see what is going on and was told I could not be transferred to her, and that I would have to go into the office.
Desired outcome: I want someone who knows what they are doing at Jackson Hewitt to contact me and let me know who is resolving this issue with the Comptroller of Maryland and file the appropriate amended return, if necessary.
Horrible marketing
The new tv commercial is disturbing. The catch phrase, "what the BUCK" is just not funny nor appreciated. I do not want to see little children walking around repeating this garbage phrase approved by some sick and low moral people. Take that horrible commercial down and work more on being a better company. I would NEVER use those people's services!
Desired outcome: Cancel the tv and radio commercial
I applaud SD Calhoun for the "Horrible Marketing" comment. All adults know what "the Buck" is supposed to mean, It's now on TV daily, kids who don't yet know what is meant will be questioning, or worse yet, repeating the phrase. The judgement of whoever approved money be spent on this advertisement is sadly lacking. The commercial should be pulled and replaced with an apology in a Jackson Hewitt commercial that would better reflect the image the public and your ownership would like to portray.
By the way, my CPA is retiring after this tax season, and I'm not going to consider Jackson Hewitt as a replacement. That's the direct result of offensive advertising.
Advertisement is offensive
Jackson Hewitt’s television advertisement is very offensive! We are all familiar with the term that rhymes with “buck” and its connected phrase, and your latest commercial is in very poor taste. If you were going for humor, you missed the mark. I certainly would not use a tax preparer who so blatantly uses one consonant to implant a vulgar term into the minds of the public. Just thought you should know.
Desired outcome: Removal of Jackson Hewitt’s connected vulgarity in its television commercial from the airwaves.
I totally agree. This commercial is by far the most offensive I have EVER seen ! Does it get my attention? U bet it does but not in the manner in which u hoped. Jackson Hewitt, shame on your lack of professionalism and integrity.
Agreed, we also sent a complaint, I will definitely never use their services. They seriously lack professionalism to stoop to this type of low.
Totally agree.
I totally agree Bhofstimo. When the commercial comes on, the kids stop and look up in shock.
Boycot the the money grabbers...They will do Anything for a buck. Power to the people.
Calls from people Because one of their numbers is similar to mine
I receive about three calls a day for the past two years from people trying to get in touch with Jackson Hewitt for a conference call. My phone number is one hour from the number they are trying to reach and it is very frustrating. I have spoken to people at Jackson Hewitt, but no one has been able to help me
I have attached screenshots of numbers from all over the United States calling me because my phone number is one off from Jackson Hewitt’s number
Desired outcome: I want them to change the phone number that people have to call to get on a conference call
TV Ad - "buck"
Congratulations for being yet another entity that stoops to the lowest of levels to promote your company for the sake of the dollar. Your "buck" commercial (as though you may as well have said it) is immoral, disgusting, without character and a sick attempt to gain patronage. Congratulations on caving to a clientele that might think it clever or cute, without regard for the youth that may also be watching. In reality, it is truly disgusting and even if I had planned on ever using your business, you can be sure that will never happen now. I'll also spread the word to the decent folks out there who will likely also be offended by your vulgarity and crass inappropriateness.
Desired outcome: Remove Ad
I totally agree. Must have been some meeting! Maybe they were all high on something when they took a vote! Boycot them. They are gutter scrapers.
I agree. The kids stop and look up in shock when the commercial comes on. Boycot them. What market target are they going after? Gutter?
I agree entirely. Would love to know which powers that be at JH signed off on this incredibly course commercial. As in the above comment I would NEVER do business with Jackson Hewitt and will recommend to those I know to avoid this low-class comany.
Jackson Hewitt did not file all proper tax returns for me with the state of Pennsylvania
I moved to Pennsylvania in 2020 and had Jackson Hewitt prepared and file my 2020 as well as my 2021 tax returns. I received a notice in the mail form the York/Adams County Pennsylvania that I did not file my county taxes. I was unaware at the time of having my taxes prepared since I was new living in the state of Pennsylvania and relied on Kimberly Rohrbaugh who claimed to be licensed to prepare Pennsylvania taxes to prepare all the proper taxes. I have called and left several messages with her office that prepared the taxes and they are refusing to call me back. I have called the main JH number and no one seems to be able to help me. I would appreciated some call me ASAP at [protected].
Desired outcome: For JH to to help me prepare the proper paperwork and to have Kim on her office investgated.

Tax service
3-29-22,3:42:30 P.M. file taxes FBG37417 through Jackson Hewitt. The was to be a federal refund. It is now September with no refund and Jackson Hewitt says it is out of their hands... My thing is, that they will not even try to help after they receive their money! And OfCourse the "my refund thing is another federal joke. Still trying to get some resolve in OK. The store I went to is #18735 located in Skiatook Ok.
