tire service
I popped my tire on my car on Tuesday afternoon. I went to Mavis immediately because I've always had great care but this mavis was not my normal shop. When I arrived it was late an they said they couldn't do the tire then an they had to order it. So I agreed. The next day when my car should have been done, because they said it Will arrive about 2. Well I got a phone call around 330 to say the tire never arrived an it would be another day or two. Obviously upset I had no option but to wait, now it's friday I had to call Mavis myself after not hearing anything from them. It's frustrating because it's a lack of whatever on their behalf and to make it worse I have to call them to keep up with my car! It should be ready today about 2 again, we shall see. I'm expecting a fair discount for the inconvenience. I will use Mavis again so long as what's fair is fair is done. Understanding things get in the way of great service also goes in the direction of inconvenience customers have to deal with as well. Thanks so much.
service
I ordered tire on Sunday the 23rd and set up a appointment for Saturday the 29th between 12:30 and 1pm. My wife and kids sat there for over 3 hours while walk in Customers were taken befor her. I guess their money was greener then mine. The manager on site said he was down one man, but that's no excuse.is this standard practice for mavis because I will never buy tires from you again, because of the way she and I were treated.
service, brakes, rotors, oil pan +
My son went to greenville NY Mavis
He went for brakes
His bill when we went to pick up vehicle $2300
Brakes, struts and oil pan++
This cost was not approved by owner of vehicle, just told what bill was on pick up
2004 Subaru Legacy, car is not worth putting that many $$ into it, and it was not pre approved amount.
We are appalled and disgusted with this way of doing business in this very small town of barely 5000 people, this community is low income mostly and my son is no exception, he makes minimum wage. Most residents are also retirees and on a fixed income.
We are members of local groups here in town and will surely advise against using your service in the future.
Making amends for this unfortunate situation would involve a lower charge.

If you would care to rectify this gross miscarriage of operating a local business in the future
You got to watch out for Pete the manager he is a shyster and you could see it in his eyes when he's lying to you and pushing you to do something that you weren't told that needed to be done in the first place. Went in for back brakes strictly for back brakes came out to be $755 because Pete said we needed this and we needed that even though I told him I strictly wanted this done he forced me to get other things done (bet you because I am a female and just don't know these things)... like my plate to my e-brake even though I was there for 2 hours he said it needed to be done and then he said it needed to be left there overnight. Fortunately I know some of the employees and was told I didn't need it. You won't get honesty in the managers but at least the employees if you know him aren't scumbags. It would have been a ton of more money for something we didn't even need.
achilles tires
I got all 4 of my tires changed in March in Queens. After that the air in my back right tire would keep getting low as detected by my sensor. I attributed it to the cold. It used to happen every 3 weeks and then then it became weekly to now about every 3 days. I called Mavis they said to bring it in to the original store, but since I moved 40 minutes away to Long Island it was difficult for me to get there. I am writing this complaint because now I have to buy a new tire because they sold me an expensive defective one. I am angry that I had to deal with this inconvenience. I won't be shopping with Mavis again or recommend anyone there.
service/rt 211 store
First and formost:
i am a former mavis employee i know the in and out of customer sales and service.. I know how to sell and what to sell and how to sell...… i have gotten friends and family going to mavis discount tires over the last few years with no problems until now
under no circumstances do you put parts on a car and let it leave the shop with no payment or bill being payed period this does not happen this can cause you your job pretty much this guy is fired second you do not have any right trying to hold a car or do work with out the permission of the owner period end of discussion second way to loss your job and this guy is still there i think the third thing is you threaten any customer at any point during phone calls or in the shop is the end of your employment but nope still here
so now i have a car with over size truck tires on it and 62 sticky weights on my rims and one hell of a vibration i have a rear caliber that was supose to be replaced and instead was just cleaned with brake clean i have struts and shocks with a life time replacement on them that were to be fixed that werent touched i was told the wheel bearings were bad and needed replacement and have not been touched
the front strut is broken causing more trouble to my car that i cant even drive it anymore any place when i call the store they just hang up on me this is good customer service when i call the complaint line the lady laughs at me and says good luck with that one...
So as a last stitch effort to resolve this issue and going to a lawyer with pictures and recorded of dates and times of each foresaid problem and no more money out of my own pocket this needs to be fixed from my car to your staff
tires & brake service
Here is the story about last three visits (from June to August, 2018) at Mavis Tire, Riverside, Connecticut store:
1. I needed to change all of my BMW 535i run flat tires. I wanted all season tires instead of summer or winter tires. I later found out that they put new summer tires. When I asked why, they said that they couldn't get all season tires. When I asked why they did not ask me before replacing tires, they had no answer and they did not even apologize for their mistake. I wanted to have that fixed and their answer was there is nothing they can do know. Unbelievable!
2. I changed my brake pads & rotors for the same car, BMW 535i, with them. I noticed car was shaking when applying the brakes. I took the car back to them for fixing and they seem to have fixed it. The problem is back again after another 800 miles of driving the car. Not sure how many times I have to bring the car back to them.
3. My mistake to go to them again for changing my Lexus IS250 brake pads and rotors for front and rear. After I got my car back, I noticed that there was smoke coming out of left rear tire. I took the car to them and their standard answer was that this happens for first few miles. When the smoke did not stop, I took the car back to them. They had to fix the brake issue to have smoke go away. After about couple of hundred more miles, we find that the car is driving heavy and braking action is weak. I asked them what is wrong with the brake and what is the quality of brake pads / rotors have they used. The standard answer is that this happens a lot with any moving parts.
Not sure, if there is possibility of legal case against them for exposing people to dangers when they do this kind of lousy brake jobs. My recommendation, if you care for your car and safety, stay away from them.
brakes upsell
I had a blow out on my tire . Had AAA tow me to Mavis to get new tire because they couldn't get off lug nut. I have 50, 000 miles on car and replaced brakes 10, 000 miles ago. Mavis tells me the brakes are shot. then call me back and say I need two tires, brakes calipers, struts, a brake flush and various other things I go in and they show me stuff that I know nothing about and tell me how dangerous the situation is. The total cost would be $2300 This is a 10 year old car with only 50, 00 miles worth about $4, 000 on blue book. But car looks and runs great. I dicker with them and they say they can do it for $1400 but not replace the calipers and take some other short cuts. I Ok job but they tell my wife and me when we go to pick up the car that I really have to replace the calipers because it is a very dangerous situation. I just don't have the money. I think I was ripped off but don't really know and I am afraid that the calipers are bad. How does one really know.
service and management
Store at 832 Pennsylvania Ave 11207: Doug/Manager:
This Mavis Tire located in Pennsylvania, Brooklyn N.Y. was the worst Mavis I have ever been to.As a customer. I have been to many Mavis Tires stores in the past several years for many different types of reasons (tires, brakes, etc.) and the service I received at the above Mavis store location on Tues 8/21 and 8/22 was a horrible experience. I was subject to a manager who was not only unprofessional but was rudely, loud, uncompromising, lied and
was very disrespectful. Not only did I not receive the tires I ordered but the wheel alignment was off and had to bring it back to the shop for another look after the alignment didn't feel right and I felt
the service was not satisfactory. The manager stated that a
service technician will take the car out for a test drive to see where the problem was but that never occurred. Reason...the machine will tell the tech where the problem is? Further, I took a trip to NC and was scared for my life and families life when the car started shaking at high speeds. I took it to a shop in Holly Springs, NC where the technician the found a defected front right tire. I had it rotated to the back. The change didn't help since the car still was shaking at high speeds. So, this complaint is to notify Mavis tires corp headquarters of that event in August. If this complaint ever gets read, I would be very surprised? I would like a response. Nevertheless, If by chance something does get done, I would like the tires replaced (but not at the mavis tires in Pennsylvania ave).
brakes and rotors
Shortly after having new brakes and rotors installed by Mavis I noticed vibrations when braking. I went back several times before someone was available to check it out. Appointments mean nothing, and I did not wish to wait around for 2 to 3 hours for them to check things. Finally someone was available and checked telling me all was fine. So I took it to my dealer who said the rotors were "out of round." So, again back to Mavis with the same wait issues. This time they found that the rotors were defective and replaced them. When I complained to customer service I was offered a free oil change. Just what I want — the opportunity to sit around until they finally change the oil. So, I spoke to the regional manager. His take was that they replaced the rotors so all was fine. No word of apology at all.
ripped off traveler
Mavis outright ripped off a disabled veteran & old couple far from home
On june 8th, 2018, my wife, 3 dogs, & I loaded up our 2014 1500 big horn crew cab headed to the nj shore for 2 weeks. We were fully loaded with a cover over the truck bed. My wife & I are both 100% disabled, in our 60's, with my 'disabled veteran' tags on the truck. After driving 190 miles, our dashboard told us the computer detected only 26 lbs of pressure in our rear tire. Slowly losing air, we found mt pocono mavis tire after 20 minutes at mt pocono in penn. To make a long story short, we got there right after 1:00 pm, & even tho a lady asked the service guy behind the desk to take us before her. We had to wait until every one was serviced before us! About 5:30, they took my truck in. We were last. Then we were told the tire had a 3"cut across the tread & they could not fix it. They could not show me what had cut the tire. Keep in mind, we drove on the tire & it sat a while before going flat I their parking lot. With a 3" cut I agreed. But, 'luckily', they had one, & only one 20"tire that would fit my truck. I run mud/snow tires since we live 'up in the hills' & require them to navigate year around. Including this day, all 4 tires had less then 700 miles on them. I refused to use the 'donut' spare I had as we still had over 300 miles to drive. I told him I would have to replace the no name city tread tire asap to match my tires & this would be 'worthless' to me, so I asked about a veterans / seniors discount & he said 10% veterans discount. After my wife paid I saw their was no discount. They told me the office (where she just paid) was now closed after 6:00. They were reluctant to give me the tire saying"where will you put it?"poor dogs, they got squished together when the tire was put in back seats.
I never checked the tire until returning home 2 weeks later. The tire was easily repairable! It was less then an inch long! I've repaired much worse my self many times before. I called mavis headquarters a few times before they finally got me thru to their regional manager 'doug'. He said he'll check into it, probably offer me a future discount or a partial refund & he will call me tomorrow with his answer.
I said this would work. He never called. After I waited over a week, he said he had 'no idea' who I was & to re tell him what happened. He just about yelled to me 'we don"t owe you a damn thing!"! Told me these exact words more then 2 - 3 times.
He said call hq, they will only do what he says! He was right. The receptionist refused to put me thru to anyone at hq saying whatever the regional manager says be the final answer.
Mavis outright ripped off an old couple far from home intentionally! They knew we were a one time deal with them. I thought this only happened tp travelers back in the 1950s, 60's or so. My tire was good to fix, it is on my car now. My mechanic ground the inside down a bit & put a 3"x 2" hot patch on the 1' cut in tire.

tire stem on a tire
I have store at at 545 Martinsville Road in Basking Ridge New Jersey estate. Repair service to go to that store and they were waiting for me I get there to find out that they're tire machine does not fit the tire that I have it's a standard wagon wheel trailer tire for any standard trailer that was on my vehicle and they told me that their machine does not fit that tire to break the bead to change the stem I feel that was unfair the company keeps on building and adding more and more stores bumper-to-bumper back-to-back in towns that could be five in one town 0 in another town and 15 and another town next to you and none of the stores are at getting watched over to correctly that management is very poor this is an older store correct but the machine should not be underaged they need to update the machines and get back the customers at these customers are all complaining about different problems than they need to shut down the company before they go and hurt somebody especially if they get out of tires on the road and it starts blowing out that's maybe what's killing a lot of people and nobody's getting done they are hurting people they need to be corrected
attempted tire change dropped camper and busted the plumbing. will not call us back.
The boys there at your store spent two hours trying to remove the lug nuts off of our camper as well as attempting to Jack the camper up. While we were standing there the Jack gave out the camper came crashing down and busted the grey water pipes. The manager then asked us of we would like to go somewhere else as it was obvious they had no odea how to get our tire off or use a jack.
tire service
Brought my wife's car to Mavis Discount Tire located at 4549 Milford Rd, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302 to fix a simple flat. We were told that the approximate cost would be $20. After all was said and done, we ended up paying $168.50. "Why" you ask? Because once again they broke one of the lugs while taking the tire off.
So far we've been to this tire store about 4 or 5 times, and at least 3 of those times there was a problem broken or missing lugs. I can certainly see why Consumer Reports magazine rated Mavis Discount Tire as one of the worst places for tires and service. I spoke to the store manager and told him to check his computer records and he will see all of the lug nut problems we've had but he insulted my intelligence by giving me some lame excuse as to why we wound up with another broken lug.
After a long conversation with him, he gave me a business card for a free synthetic oil change (worth about $45); but what good is it? I don't feel comfortable at all anymore having these people work on my cars.
Needless to say, we will never visit another Mavis store again...NOT EVER!
front end wheel alignment
Spoke with employee at Mavis Tire on Empire Blvd, Penfield NY. He said no appointment necessary. My son and I went over there. Parking lot and drive way was blocked. Front desk says we don't have an alignment guy here today. Leave it and we can do it tomorrow. No, cant going out of town. Go down the street, they can do it. Go to Mavis tire in Webster, NY for a front end alignment. Car was worse than when we brought it in. ESC light was on, steering wheel was cocked and car pulled drastically to the right. Went back immediately. Align again. 'Best we can get it' Same thing...no better. Went back for a 3rd time. 'Everything is in the green' Still no different. Called the manager at Ridge Rd Penfield. He was snickering under his breath saying we cant help, you have to deal with the people who did the work. I did and had no good results. 1 day later took it to another Mavis on East Ridge Rd, Irondequiot. NY. The manager took it in to look at it, aligned it and did not charge me anything more. Technician said it was way out of alignment. The steering wheel is straight, the light is off and the car drives straight. Really though? Did I really need to go through all that? It took the last shop 30 minutes to do it right. Get people who know how to do their job right the first time.
service
I went to a location 10101 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL yesterday for 2 tires and an alignment. I was told there were some issue with the front end. They recommended what needed done to fix the issues. I did not have enough money to pay for everything needed to correct the problem. They replaced the inner and outer tie rods, replaced 2 tires and did the alignment. When I signed the papers for the services provided I was given the keys to my vehicle. I proceeded to get in my car and put the keys in the ignition and started the car. When I went to back out I noticed I had very limited power steering. I went back in and informed them of the situation. They took the car back inside and looked under the hood trying to assess the problem. They said that when they changed out the parts on the front end that some metal shavings might have gotten into the reservoir of the power steering pump. When they took the car from me it had power steering.
tire warranty I purchased from savannah tire co.
Since Mavis acquired Savannah Tires the service has completely crashed and burned! When I call the Savannah location on Waters St...no one is even answering the phones anymore. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else for your tires and service work...this place is absolutely horrible to do business with now! This business has been completely ruined by the new Mavis Tire acquisition!
verbal assault
On July 26, 2018 my daughter and I arrived at Mavis on Broadway in the Bronx at approximately 7:40am. There was a line of 2 cars and we were the 3rd. As the store opened and the 2 cars ahead of us proceeded into the shop (first 2 made it in, the vehicles were driven by men. As it was my turn to enter, a man standing near the entrance says, "I was here before you, " I said, I was 3rd in line (he's parked on the street, not in line and never said anything to the 2 male drivers) I agreed to move, as I backed up this guy became enraged and said, "you better move because if you don't there will be a scene!" With that, I decided to just go into the shop! The manager nor ANY employee intervened while this man yelled and cursed at me the ENTIRE time I waited for my oil change! My daughter was and still is VERY upset! He took pictures of my license plate and assumed I wasn't from the area because I'm black and he's white! Stating, " I live here!" Upon my daughter and I attempting to leave he followed us to our car yelling, telling me it better not go any further! We had to close our windows and leave, I have video, I am LIVID and I AM seeking legal counsel! These employees (All Men) stood around doing nothing, waiting for a YouTube moment or a bloodbath! I shouldn't have to pay for the rotten oil change that I received! Another woman driver came in, he made her back out of the shop so that he could bring his car in off of the street! Still NO ONE said anything! When I tried to explain to the Manager what was going on (although he was right there) he said to me..."it's too early in the morning for this!" Really? Well Mavis, let me say this...the media and an attorney will love to see my video ANY TIME of the day!
oil change
On july 12, 2018 purchase 4 tires. Was offered a free oil change if I applied for a mavis credit card. Upon arriving home I noticed oil all over my driveway. I checked the dip stick and it was empty. I immediately called your store and spoke to tom who said they were aware of the problem, and was sending someone to repair their mistake. I called jessie concerning the oil in my 2 year old driveway, said he would send someone to clean it. They sent eli with 1 can of cleaner, which was for concrete. I did not know at the time it was for concrete until the can was empty. My driveway is asphalt. It made it worse.
I called jessie about the problem, how he was going to fix it, said he would speak to his supervisor and would get back to me. To date, he has not.
only left wheel bearing was replaced
Went to STS Tire 7/17/18 due to Front end vibration. Also indicated that the car needed an oil change (which I repeated when I talked to Chris, the manager, that night when he called to tell me that the car would be done by 10 am the next morning). There was NO RUSH to pick up the car; I had rented a vehicle for my son to utilize while the car was in the shop.
Picked up the car 7/18/18: only the LEFT Wheel Bearing was replaced (who replaces only ONE SIDE with these things...really?). The oil change? never got done and is now overdue for this car.
What WAS focused on was the very slight brake chatter - the Rotors and Pads - THOSE got replaced!
Now have to go back (soon) to get the RIGHT Wheel Bearing replaced and the oil changed. And I REALLY didn't need the extra $250 upsell charge right now.
My desired resolution would be to get Mark Artale BACK into this facility. The constant "and who is the store manager this week" is LOSING BUSINESS for this facility.
technician stole from me.
Please don't go to Mavis Discount Tire. They stole every last quarter from my cup holder. It was about $10 worth. They also took a $50 cent piece that I had been holding on to for close to 2 years. As if that isn't enough of a reason to not do business with them let's discuss their pricing strategy. I decided to try them out for their break special that they advertise. $79.99 became $625 I was shocked by this figure and Mike the tech who called realized this. So somehow the price went from 625 to 495? Makes you wonder does everyone get the 130 extra charge? When you make the reservation they promise a 3 hour turn around it was more like 7. So we decided to call them to see what they are going to do about it. Seems like they could care less it shouldn't take 2 days to offer up some sort of apology or at the very least follow thru on the promises that they would review the tapes and call us back. Sadly we are still waiting to hear back from them at this point. I guess the best they can do is give us $10 and accept the fact that we will never do business with them again. The money is not the issue it's their obvious lack of concern and follow through. Everyone brings their car to a mechanic or perhaps uses valet service. Are we just supposed to accept the fact that by doing this you run the risk of them stealing valuable items out of your car. I mean you give them your keys to your car your house your garage door opener they have your address. What's to stop this thief from coming to my house and looking for more things to steal. If your still reading this all I ask is that you don't go to Mavis it's not worth it. If you want please like and share this post so that the word can get out that Mavis Discount Tire can not be trusted with your car or your business.
