Bus never showing up in Union City
Ive been waiting at 31st and bergenline since 830pm for a 108 bus to newark..in order to catch a connecting bus to newark. According to the app, a 9:11 was supposed to show up..never did.
Then a 9:30pm was supposed to show up..never did. At 10pm I had to call a uber after waiting for a hour and a half. I have a monthly pass. Now I have to pay an additional 17.00 because the 108 never showed up.
Desired outcome: I would like compenstion for my extra cost. Or at the very least Your service is poor..this is not the first time. I would also like for you to think of an apprpoiate spot to shove the 8apology.
Ticket collector
I was on the 6:35 Train to NY Penny the ticket collector was rude, he then said it was just a friendly reminder to pay for children after accusing me of not paying for my children.I had to show I have multiple tickets please don’t do that. You are trying to make a scene at 6:35 am, I don’t want to ride free.
Let’s encourage people to STOP assuming that every African American passenger doesn’t pay. He clearly made an assumption and couldn’t find the words after I proved that I PAID. I would like to put out I overuse the NJ Transit so that was a clear act of unprofessionalism on his part. He was Chinese American I’m assuming. Please train your employees better. I have never expected this.
Desired outcome: I would like a response.
Bus 6014 from Secaucus - Jersey City
I moved from New York City to New Jersey during the pandemic three years ago and I am still learning about NJ and the public transportation system. Every evening around maybe around 6:30 I will always ride either the 2 or the 2R from Secaucus heading to Journal Square, Jersey City for me to go home. The bus driver not once was very aggressive.
The first incident is because I did not put enough payment on the bus instead of enlightening me about the bus fair since I am still learning about the public transit system in NJ (and made him aware of this) he insisted on getting disrespectful with me, he went as far as stopping the bus I never once made the bus driver feel as if I was not going to make my payment it was only dollar more I was reaching in my bag to get the extra dollar to pay he got up from his bus seat as if he was going to hit me he got super aggressive we did exchange words since I felt threatened I ended the conversation by paying the extra dollar that was due and left it alone after that. after that day I continue to pay what is due for me to get home.
This is not the first time he has done this The majority of people that take the 2 or the 2R have received the same attitude as me.
Today, 12/20/22 I purchase my ticket online and asked the bus driver for a transfer he refused to give me a transfer I continue to walk to the back where I normally sit I asked another passenger if I pay for my ticket online am I required to get a transfer if I paid my ticket online the passengers did not know if I could get a transfer and started suggesting other ways for me to afford a bus pass to avoid this issue with this bus driver. five minutes in route the bus driver stops the bus and heads directly towards me and starts yelling at me asking me where am I going the bus driver sees me every evening around 6 o’clock or maybe 6:30 he knows my commute he knows what stop I get off from our first incident he knew that I normally get off at Journal Square. As the bus driver is asking me “where I’m going?” he starts complaining about the extra dollar at this very moment I felt like he was nitpicking and wanted to start a problem with me and making me an example on the bus once again we exchanged words and he started threatening me the next time I come on the bus for me to add the extra dollar I asked him to remove himself away from my face since he was very close and continue to drive the bus at this point I had enough of his attitude and requested his employee ID #. I’ve never felt so insulted or threatened in my life by somebody that I’m supposed to count on to take me to my destinations safely all because I am not that knowledgeable about the bus fares in New Jersey. once I arrive at my destination he got up from his bus seat and again approached me at this point I knew the bus driver was trying to antagonize me I recorded the whole altercation He went straight to my face once again this bus driver does not know what personal spaces are because he heard me from earlier on that I wanted his employee ID he waved his employee ID in front of my face and my camera and I have a picture of him. I can understand that bus drivers deal with outrageous passengers on a day-to-day basis and for that, I apologize but if I did NOT give this bus driver attitude (until he was disrespectful to me) or refused the payment I don’t understand why treated this way when all I wanted to do was to go home. Something has to be done about this Because I no longer feel safe taking that bus to go home!
Attached to this complaint is a video of him approaching me aggressively giving me his work Employment ID #
Dangerous driving
Bus number 5747 on Washington Ave Belleville, speeding on Washington Ave and turning left thru a red light into big tree garage at 12:25pm Friday the 16th. The bus failed to show caution with a car exiting McDonalds, stopped at the light at big tree garage and 10 seconds before the light turned green the driver crossed over the crosswalk thru a red light into the garage. Very dangerous.
Desired outcome: Driver needs to be disciplined.
Rude conductor # 544605 misbehavior and discrimination to commuters
Respected Sir,
I want to draw your kind attention towards the RUDE and IRRESPONSIBLE behavior/unworthy and unwarranted behavior of Conductor # 544605 in train # 3712 from Metropark station (7.59AM) to New York Penn Station and coach # 1309 very first. Very often this Lady are treating the commuters with complete disgust, disregard, Disguise and hated and discrimination to Asian people. This Lady Conductor looks towards the passengers with indifference and behaves with them in a very strange and absurd way. They lack etiquette and use filthy language.
First of I mentioned here that She left her stuff on the very first left and right side all four seats facing each other. Since the rest of the seats were taken by all commuters and I, seated on empty space for one of the seats that occupied by this lady conductor. She came and then told to me vacant the seat and get up - can’t you see my very valuable stuff here. When I got up and stand other space she insisted, you need to move back and don’t standing in between car and insisting to move back (I not bothering to her when I standing in empty space between right and left seats and numerous time she continued to argue and behave rude say’s that I am the Conductor of this train and in charge and what I tell commuters has to obey) I have an eye witness with me as all commuters travelling with me on this compartment 1309
Also, she thrown away my iPhone and insisted this is my living room and this is my train and am in charge what I have to do I am doing and you have to obey my order.
This Lady Conductor forgets the elementary duties of good conductors and behaves indecently. They show no courtesy and sympathy for the senior citizens and the ladies.
It is my humble suggestion that before their retirement, they must be taught how to deal with the passengers. Presently they must be instructed and advised suitably to mend their way and surprise checks in this respect can improve things a lot.

Doors of train not opening for scheduled stops leaving passenger stranded far from the destination
On November 22 my daughter bought 7 roundtrip tickets online between Millburn and Penn Station in NYC. for November 23. 2022. The round trip tickets she purchased cost $109.60, for 6 adults and 1 Senior. The return trip train 6677, left at 10:13 from NYC to Millburn. The conductor came and scanned the tickets for Millburn. When they arrived in Millburn, the train stopped but the doors did not open. The train continued on to Short Hills station stopping but not opening the doors. The passengers ran thru the cars shouting let us off. No one responded. But finally they found the conductor who manually adjusted the doors to open at the next stop in Summit. The 7 passengers ran out the doors upset because their cars were in Millburn not Summit. The senior ticket passenger was 80 years old.
They had to order a Lyft for $25 to take them back to the Millburn station where their cars were. Since Lyft could only take some of the passengers, the others had to call family back in Millburn to pick them up in Summit..
Desired outcome: Refund the total cost of the trip for $109.60 + LYFT of $25. Free round trip ticket for each of the 7 passengers from Millburn to NYC to rebuild their confidence that NJ Transit can provide safe and reliable transportation.
9:33 am train to NY Penn Station Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, 2022
I am a single divorced father who lives alone and I reside in Edison, NJ. I wanted to take the 9:33 am train to NY Penn Station from Edison Station in order to meet up with family and friends to see the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade.
I have taken that route dozens of times with no ticket purchasing issues.
Today I used the outside platform machine in order to purchase a round trip to NY City. After typing in all the pertinent information I attempted to insert a 20 dollar bill. It was to no avail as the machine would not take it. I tried another 20 dollar bill, and had the same results. I canceled the transactions and tried again with the same results. In disgust I tried the machine to the left twice with the same results. I was in the process of trying the first machine a third time when the train pulled in. As luck would have it (or I thought) the conductor exited directly next to me.
She was a short black thin woman with glasses. I said to her, "Excuse me, these machines are not taking my money".
She briefly looked over her shoulder to me as her back was turned to me. She ignored me.
I repeated my statement and she once again blatantly ignored me.
I tried again a little louder saying, "Excuse me I need to get on this train and these machines are not taking my money." She finally responded by saying, "Try the other machine". Her demeanor to me was very cold and uncaring like she really could care less.
I told her that I tried both machines and they're not taking my money. The entire time I had 2 20 dollar bills in plain sight in my hands and she even glanced at them.
I told her again, "Excuse me, I need to get on this train but I don't have a ticket because the machines are not taking my money".
She turned around again really annoyed and said "Use a card".
I told her don't have a card. What I meant is that I didn't have enough funds on my card.
I was astounded that she wasn't being helpful or even compassionate.
I said it one last time "I need to get on this train and I don't have a card, I have cash.. see look."
She turned around again and said, "Use a card". I know without a doubt that she heard me tell her that I don't have a card, I felt like she was purposely being extremely rude to me for whatever reason. I wasn't being unruly and she clearly saw that I had money to purchase a ticket. She wasn't busy with other customers entering the train at that time. She was just ignoring me. I couldn't enter the train as she was blocking the door while on the platform. She then waved to the other 2 conductors further down the platform that it was all clear and she entered the train.
I yelled, "Wait a minute I need to get on this train" The doors closed and the train pulled away. I was dumbfounded.
For a NJ Transit employee to be so extremely rude and on a holiday was astounding to me.
I was under the impression that I could purchase the ticket on board but she didn't give me that option.
I walked inside the station to try the machines. The one machine took a dollar bill then spit it out. Just then an Asian couple tried the other machine with cash and it wouldn't take it. I suggested they try the machine I was trying and they had the same experience, the machine spit the money out.
I debated if I should wait a half an hour for the next train and explain my situation to the next conductor but figured what's the point. Will I get the same rude treatment? Probably. Also, by the time I get to the parade it will be narrowing down. So I walked the few blocks disappointed and drove home where I now sit all alone. Thank you for nothing NY Transit.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Desired outcome: That woman should be strongly penalized in my opinion To allow her to conduct herself in this fashion towards the public is an outrage.Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
Nj Transit North East Corridor
NJ Teansit North East corridor sucks in every way.. the trains through Hazlet are constantly late and ALWAYS some type of track maintenance, like today.. then these idiots got the nerve to still ask for tickets. This ts the worst train system in the nation. I absolutely despise them and I hope the government sanctions nj transit for anything and everything. Bunch of idiots down the line!
Bus NJ transit bus 315..
I got on the bus, on Denniville, Petersburg Rd in Petersburg NJ at 7:03 pm. I told the bus driver I was going to Walter rand transportation center in Camden I have been told by the bus driver it would cost me $6.20. I gave the bus driver a $10 bill. He gave me 2.00 change and 80¢. Then he said after I payed him I owe him more. He made a mistake. He then took the money out of my hands of three more dollars. Then said we were square. I then got mad and asked for the money back. He then gave me the $10 dollar bill back. But not the $3.00. I tried to explain the mishap. Yet could not reason with the man at all. He still cheated me out of $3.00. I got off the bus and got my bike. He then took off. I still was not rewarded the $3.00 that was rightfully mine. My name is Robert P Harry Jr, 25 North Evergreen Ave, Woodbury NJ 08096. My phone number is +[protected], my email is [protected]@gmail.com. as a result I'm to be at an interview in Woodbury NJ at 9.30 am on October 18th and this mishap may cost me several job and education offers. It is October 17th 2022 today thank you Robert P Harry Jr.
Desired outcome: To have bus driver disciplined for not understanding and a letter to give my interviewer an excuse of actions that may have prevented me of my absence. And refund the amount that has been stolen from me.
Unprofessional Driver
On October 10, 2022, I boarded the Route 161 approximately 5:15pm at Bus Stop 12724 and encountered Driver 42249. I had a ticket purchased on my NJ Transit App, which I use regularly, as I commute from Moonachie to NYC and take the NJ Transit train back into NJ.
I purchased this ticket on previous occasions and had no problem however I was told by this driver that the ticket was incorrect, and it should have been an INTERSTATE ticket rather than INTRASTATE. I have no problem being corrected in making a mistake, however no one should be subjected to the disrespect that this driver spewed towards me. I quickly purchased another ticket as he would not allow me to give him the additional $1.50 that he said that I needed.
Obviously upset and extremely embarrassed I was calmed by coworkers so as not to delay everyone's commute. Other passengers shared that this driver is known for his rude behavior towards passengers and embarrassing them as well.
Those who work with the public and in Customer Service roles should show courtesy and respect at all times. Mistakes happen but one should not be subjected to such antagonizing behavior.
Desired outcome: -Please refund me the cost of the activated ticket that I could not use - $3.50 -Please encourage the driver to attend Customer Service training and to be more empathetic towards passengers.
159 bus nj transit
I really hope that whoever makes the s hedules will heed one day to rely and depend on nj transit bnecause your life will turn into hell. And thats what you deserve!
How is that possible that all your schedules are a total mess and a lie. You have bus 159r expepress on the scheduled leaving at 1:44, 2:45 etc from fort lee to nyc but not only these buses never come although all your schedules keep that bus on it but the local bus 159 shows up with 30 min delays. And this is every day. On sept 27 i waited for 40 mins! And went back home . I missed my very imporyant doc appoitment. Noone will ever move to nj from ny if nj transit stays so [censored]ty. I hope you all get what you deserve for ruining peoples life with your irresponsible lazy unprofessional attitude!
I’m complaining about the 160 bus never showing up or always being late
The 160 bus route from Garfield New Jersey to New York will always be late or never shows up. I’ve been late at work due to this matter multiple times. I wait at my bus stop on Monroe street and palisades Avenue way before the scheduled bus time and it would never show. This is ridiculous and it’s affecting my health due to always being late for work. I highly recommend for someone to please take a look at this.
Desired outcome: I would love for someone to planease take a look at this matter. I would also appreciate a response.
Staff
Your employee spraying disinfectant on the railings this morning 9/14/2022 while waiting for the 8:31 train to Exchange Place did not have consideration for people while spraying on the railings. He sprayed my leg and did not say excuse me or anything! Another lady said he did the same as I was telling him to be careful and that he sprayed me, she said he did the same coming up the stairs to the train.
My skin is very sensitive and don’t want industrial liquids on it, please!
Thank you,
Juanita Graves
Desired outcome: Advice your staff to be cautious of people its the right thing to do. I understand he has to do his job but I did not see him and I was on the platform waiting to get on the first car of the train.
Mechanical Issue on Train on 8/23
On 8/23, I was on the 5:12 PM train out of Penn Station just to get off at Secaucus Junction to transfer, so looking to get off at one stop. Close to Secaucus, the train stopped moving - A/C shut off. For almost 5 minutes no NJ transit staff person told the passengers what was going on - and then later said that it was a mechanical issue on the wire on the top of the train. We were stranded for two hours, causing hundreds of people to be unable to get out of Penn Station. The cost on people's time is unmeasurable and we cannot get that back.
My biggest concern and complaint is that this issue could have been prevented. If NJ Transit worked more proactively to maintain their trains and everything it takes to be efficient, there would not have been this mechanical error. I searched in the news if this happened recently and indeed there was another time in early August that this same exact thing happened except that train was stuck in a tunnel out of Penn for 3 hours.
Why do commuters have to deal with NJ Transits negligence of its trains? Can we really afford to boycott trains so conditions get better? We cannot. Salaries are higher in NYC so we are beholden to this company to reinvest back into their trains and services.
Bus 402 runs whenever it wants
I just started this great job a month ago in swedesboro. And it's never a consistent driver or schedule with bus 402. No matter what time I have to be to work or coming from work, I'm waiting 3+ just to start my commute after worming 10-11 hours. I start at 6pm... there's no 3pm bus to get there til 530. I get off at 4pm... there's no bus to get from there til 930pm. I've been late 5 times in the last 8 days because of this bs. Now my job is in jeopardy because I can't even rely on the transportation that I'm supposed to rely on. Thanks alot
Desired outcome: Anything is better than nothing
Cliffside Park, Knox and Anderson Ave. Removal of benches from my bus stop and never returned. I am disabled and can not stand up for that long! Other disabled elderly riders also shouldn't have to hold themselves up by holding on to the garbage can and the bus stops signage pole. It's been 2 months now since you removed them. Return these benches effective immediately or you'll be facing an ADA discriminatory lawsuit with every rider from that stops signature demanding you put the benches back. Someone over there with Transit has neglected their duty to put both benches back and should be handled accordingly. If it was to have covered benches put back instead then please get them back to our stop ASAP!...
The escalator at journal square never works
I ride the 10 and the 15 bus everyday and the escalator has been not working or has been turned off everyday for at least 2 months. Is there a reason? I am disabled and have difficulties with stairs. The escalator is not roped off nor is there a out of service sign posted. So why is it not adequately functioning? I see people still walking up the escalator although it’s not operating. I’m going to complain to the Mayors office and the news.
Desired outcome: Fix the escalator or Turn it on
Nj transit bus dangerous driving / passing group of cyclists passing
Who ever was operating bus #507 on 7/25/22 at approximately 7:10 am on the Blackhorse pike between AC and Pleasantville intentionally drove too close to 11 cyclists. I was one of the cyclists. I was riding roughly 1.5 feet to the right of the white line. The bus was driving roughly 6 inches to the left of the white line. The bus was moving at a high rate of speed and the force of air nearly caused our group to crash. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior and action from this driver. They should be severely reprimanded and reminded of the driving laws in NJ. They are supposed to be professionals. They could have killed us. Please take action.
Desired outcome: Reprimand bus driver.
NJT 401 Bus driver
The 401 bus driver arrived at Hessian ave at 8:57am and yet again from the NJT bus driver starts getting aggressive in tone , for his own screw up and talking off the bus with an individual, this is the 3rd encounter with this driver whom doesn't display his ID number above him as required, the last 2 times I had rode this 401 line the same driver was incredibly disrespectful to me infront of my kids. , What is going to be done about this and when ?
The next encounter that contains ignorance and disrespect I'm taking NJT to court and I obtain recordings.
Desired outcome: The driver needs to be retrained in ethics and customer service and be suspended
Bus Driver Dangerous Driving/ Safe Passing of cyclists
Bus Route #507
Approximately 7:10AM , July 25, 2022
Black Horse Pike between AC to Pleasantville
A group of 11 cyclists (me included) were riding on the shoulder but, due to obstacles on the shoulder, were forced to ride out near the white line.
The driver of this bus passed all 11 cyclists within 12 inches at a high rate of speed. He/she was driving within 6 inches of the white line. The draft from the bus nearly caused us to crash.
NJ Safe Passing Law (as of March 1st, 2022), says drivers must approach with safety, change lanes or give at least 4ft, otherwise reduce speed to 25 mph and be prepared to stop.
The driver made no attempt to slow down or move over (within the lane) to give us any room.
This was a blatant "buzzing" of cyclists.
Fortunately, we are all seasoned cyclists. If not, there is a very high likelihood someone would have gone down or into the bus and been seriously injured or killed.
This is a senseless act and the driver needs to be made aware of the consequences of his/her actions, and current law.
Desired outcome: Driver should be cited for failing to follow Safe Passing Law ($100/2points) or reckless endangerment. This needs to be put in this driver's file for future incidents.
Escalator stoppage on July 7, 2022, at approximately 7:00 pm
I was on an escalator going down, to get to my train, when the escalator suddenly STOPPED. I was about in the middle when the escalator stopped. There were two other people on the escalator when it came to a dead stop. I fell down, as a result. I sustained significant scratches and bruises on my legs and arms. Additionally, I sustained a broken rib.
This dangerous situation was unexpected. When I get on an escalator, I expect it to work properly. There were two other people on the escalator when it stopped. NJ Transit had no business running this defective escalator.
Desired outcome: Redress grievances. This has messed me up physically, and I would like financial compensation.
