In sep last year I had 4 new tyres fitted to my car in Norauto Bergerac. 10 days ago it failed the Control Techique as the incorrect sized tyres had been fitted. (They fitted 215x65xR16 in error). Norauto agreed to change them with Goodyear tyres of the correct size and I had to pay an extra 64 euro difference in price. I took it back to Miramont CT centre to be retested the same day. The correct size tyres were fitted on 18 July 2019 at approx 1200 hrs. I then drove approximately 42 Km on the main road from Bergerac to the test centre in Miramont. The tester looked at the new tyres and noticed on the front pax side tyre a slither of rubber was sticking out - he slightly tugged it and it peeled off in his fingers. (See attached photos of tyre and the slither of rubber 9 cm long that peeled off). He phoned Norauto and I drove straight back as because of damage it had failed the CT test again. On arrival at Norauto the manager was adamant that I had damaged it on the short drive to the test station. I suggested that perhaps when they had fitted the tyre to the wheel hub on the tyre fitting machine that it had accidentally been damaged as the piece of tyre tread has actually peeled away from the tyre. He ranted and raved that this was imhpossible and was unwilling to replace the tyre. I then offered to pay for another replacement tyre (approx 110 euro) and asked him to order one and then I requested that the damaged tyre be returned to the manufacturer for examination to determine whether or not it may have been defective. He strongly objected to my request and also refused even to order a new tyre for which I was willing to pay. I asked him to tel the police but he refused and said you phone yourself, I had no tel with me so I left went straight to the Mercedes garage in Bergerac who have ordered me a replacement tyre for me which they will fit on 6 August as I'm away on holiday next week. Until this arrives I' m not able to get the Control Technique test redone. The manager at Norauto was very angry because they had to refit 4 tyres (initially refusing saying it was not the garages fault). I suspect that he may have accidentally damaged a tyre during fitting but fitted it anyhow hoping I wouldn't notice. Can you please arrange for collection of this tyre for it to be analyzed by Goodyear. many thanks Tom Baker
