did not have a replacement starter in stock for defective one purchased and issued a gift card instead of a refund.
Sunday afternoon starter out of daughter's car. They go to O'Reilly's (only store open Sunday) and I pay. Store closed by the time determined starter defective so Monday afternoon go to return and they don't have a replacement in stock have to order possible Tuesday. Per their policy of replacement or gift card I get a gift card which I will never use. I feel since they could not replace the starter this violates their policy and I should receive my money back to my credit card.

Brandon Jackson O'Reillys Auto Parts 2215 Highway 15 North Laurel, MS [protected]
Dear Mr. Jackson,
This letter is a formal complaint and request to resolve an issue with a malfunctioning part purchased from O'Reillys Auto. The invoice numbers associated with this complaint are #[protected] and #[protected].
On February14 2018 I visited the store and an associate named George assisted me with a purchase of an oil pump. Due to me having unexpected work, I could not immediately install the pump on the car. When I did install the pump on 5/3/2018 I discover d the pump was defective because it did not pump the oil and caused lack of oil pressure in the car which in turn caused the scaring of the barrens in the car. I immediately contacted the store and spoke to George and he told me that Tyler Birch, the store manager, told me to bring the oil pump back with the mileage of the vehicle so that we can proceed with the claim of it being a defective part. I returned the pump on 5/4/2018 and I purchased another pump on that same day because I needed to complete this work order. On this day I forgot to bring in the mileage of the vehicle so I told them I would bring the mileage back on 5/7/2018. Tyler Birch was fully aware of the date I would return to the store. On 5/7/2018, I arrived at the store and was informed that Tyler Birch sent the oil pump off and he would "try" to locate it at the warehouse. He also said that "if" he could find the pump then he would test it to see if it was defective. I was a little disturbed by this because Tyler and George were both aware of the date I was to return to the store. Tyler Birch told me himself that he would not send the pump off until I returned to the store with the mileage. Below you will find a brief timeline of our communications after 5/7/2018: — — — -May 9, 2018 Mr. Tyler Birch said he will get back with us on the part. He did not rerun the call. — — — May 11, 2018 Mr. Tyler Birch said he will email the warehouse to attempt to locate the pump and he never contacted me. — — — - May 14, 2018 Mr. Tyler Birch called and stated that they could not locate the pump and he doesn't know what we are going to do about it.
Due to the negligence of O'Reillys Auto Part Manager Tyler Birch, I suffered financial loss in the amount of $3700. — — — - $300 for the first defective pump, installation and removal. — — — -$300 for the price of the second pump and installation. — — — $1800 for the purchase of a new engine. It was mandatory that I purchase a Savage engine because the defective part caused scaring of the barrens because it did not provide the appropriate amount of oil pressure. — — — $1600 for the removal and installation of two motors.
I am requesting the recovery of $3700 in damages. The part was defect and the lack of communication from the store manager coupled with the "loss" of a part that was sent to the warehouse is unacceptable and unprofessional.
If you would like to discuss the matter any further please contact me, Johnny Collier, at [protected]. I look forward to resolving this matter with you.
Sincerely yours, Johnny Collier
PS... A copy of this letter has been sent to the corporate office, Mr. Tyler Birch and Mr. Brandon Jackson.
customer service at the pine city minnesota store.
I've been doing business with this store for years. Was told that there was two different parts for my truck. When I personally know that there is not. When I told him to go look he said go look yourself, told him that was his job, he said no it's not. Then I told him that's why i asked for Bob, which he said he's not here you have to deal with me. Told him to kiss my [censored] and was told to leave his store. Said f you and left. Bought my parts at Napa. Fire him and get my business back or I'll never go in that store again. His name is Justin. Thank you for years of awesome business until today.
product transfer
I needed one of my trucks in Las Vegas to get brake parts. Store #4659 was extremely helpful. They had parts in stock and told me to go to my local store to do a purchase transfer.
Jorge, at store #2940, had know idea how to do an in store transfer. He was very abrasive and did not want to help until I put him on speaker phone, with store 4659 to get the job done.
I will continue using Autozone as long as O'Reillys has employees like this.
Sincerely, Scott
returning a item
My husband went to the store on mission and valley in Alhambra CA. He was speaking to a person named Philip. My husband stated Philip wants helpful at all. My husband was trying to return air suspension shocks which are still under the time frame of retuned. He has the recipe and the original boxes. Philip told him he couldn't return then and tried to tell him to exchange them instead and insisted. Very unhappy with the service given after we always buy are car parts from O'reilly. I guess we are going to have to find a new place to purchase our car parts. Very unhappy customer and wouldn't recommend O'reilly to anyone.
sw-5130 sensor
Ordered sensor yesterday and came in today from distribution center. Bag it came in is very dirty but I guess it happens sometimes. Bag has been cut open in 2 different places. Opened at the top and taped back and been reopened and then stapled back. Torn open on the bottom and the side and partly taped back and the part inside has grease on the threads. This is the brand new part that just came in from the warehouse this morning I'm told. I paid for it because I asked it to be ordered and I am a man of my word. I have only bought a few things from O'Reilly Auto Parts and thought I found a good place to start buying parts. Loosing a customer may not even bother you but I don't like someone standing in my face and lying to me when the evidence is right in front of them. It's not a new part. I do have pictures if you care to see them. I only pray that it works.
Thank God the part does work. I didn't install it in case it didn't work to be able to return if necessary. I plugged it in turned on
service
Store: Jasper, Texas
Complaint: my 14 yr old son asked for a fuel pump for ‘71 Ford F100, 400. The ‘gentleman' retrieved the part and unboxed it so my son could inspect. It was not the correct bolt up pattern and when my son told him it was over-under, the man told him no it wasn't. The man then asked a co-worker who also told my son his part was not as he said. Now, these ‘men' are exchanging amused looks with each other. They consult a third coworker who agreed with the first 2. It seemed very much like all 3 were quite amused that my ‘poor' son didn't have a clue as to what he was telling them he saw with his own eyes. Rather than I get so angry at their treatment of my son and say things unbecoming a Christian Woman I told my son we would seek his truck part at Auto Zone. My son was treated as any other paying customer, the Auto Zone employee patiently worked with my son to eventually find the exact part he had told everyone at O'reillys he needed to replace. ...and for cheaper. As a woman I have experienced biased and disrespectful service here before and for years. It will be a long time before I go back to this particular oreillys store unless they learn to respect EVERY customer who walks in the door.
customer service
I arrived at the O'reilly auto parts in Renton on sunset Blvd at about 5:05. I was there to figure out why the check engine light for my vehicle was on. When I walked in the store, I was not greeted by any of the two workers there (Rush and Stephanie). Two customers walked in after me and Stephanie says "welcome in" to them without hesitation. Stephanie was finishing up with her customer before it was my turn. When it was my turn I let her know my problem and she said someone would be able to assist me but it'll be a minute before one of them will be able to step outside to assist me as there were other customers waiting, she suggested I wait in my vehicle so I wouldn't have to stand around in the store. I told her that wouldn't be a problem, went back outside to my vehicle where I waited for 50 mins. During my wait, I watched Rush walk outside to assist another customer on their vehicle, he looked me in my eyes then continued to walk with the customer to his vehicle. At the 50 minute mark, I became tired of waiting, I walked back inside. Stephanie was no longer at the counter. It was then Sadie and Rush. Rush was dealing with a customer, Sadie was available so Rush directed me to her. I explained to Sadie I had been waiting for 50 mins for someone to help me figure out the problem with my vehicle. Without hesitation, Sadie apologized for me waiting so long, she grabbed the tool she needed and walked with me to my vehicle and told me what the problem was. She was very helpful. This O'Reilly's is usually my go to store since it is so close to my home but I will not be returning after the terrible experience I had with Stephanie and Rush.
complaint on store manager
I shop at the store on 3109 Martin Luther King Boulevard in Dallas Texas store number 4025 and every time I go in there the store manager name is Mike he always tried to get me to buy things that I don't need or that I don't want one day I went in there this younger guy just asked me did I need some brake Grease and brake fluid he explained it to me or why I needed it I told him no I'm okay on that I have some already then the store manager Mike short guy he comes up behind the guy who was helping me and and tell him ask him do he need to grease or the brake fluid I told your manager Mike the guy already asked me for this you can't make me buy nothing that I don't want so I asked him do you get a commission or something more money and on one occasion I was inside the store this other guy bought some brake pads Mike the manager of the store he run or package of greased up and put it in the guy bag without the guy even on it so he really charge the guy for a pack of Grease that the guy didn't need that he didn't want should I say and run it up anyway and put it in the guy bag along with the brakes and then gave him a total price that's not right if I come in about one thing I respect your opinion and what you think and why you think it I should need it but if I don't have the money for it don't press the issue I come in for one thing and one thing only the store manager up there is real rude when it comes to selling it's like he's getting a bigger pay by selling extra stuff if that's the case oreillys is crooked and if I find out deeper inside I would never shopping oreillys I'm let everybody else know not shopping O'Reilly
I see where you are coming from but I also see where the Employees are coming from their job is to send you out the door with the right parts and tools to get a job done right and by them offering and explaing to you why you MIGHT need the item then that is okay and I understand some employees are more pushy than others but they just want to help
employee
The employee named Autumn was very rude and unprofessional. It shocks me how awful an employee can be to their customers. If she isn't fired this place will lose a lot of business. I used to love this place, but she has honestly ruined the whole thing for me. She cussed at me for asking if they had a certain part I was asking for, she was hardly even listening so she kept getting it wrong and got mad at me. Finally when she got it right she snatched money out of my hands and through my change back. Please fix this problem ASAP. I'd rather not see her again.
customer service
on 4/23/18 yesterday around 3:00 I went to o'reillys 15350 Bear Valley in victorville, upon entering there were quite a few customers, i stood in line and there was only 1 lady at the counter, her name said Rosie on her shirt . mind you now there are more customers coming in, so id say there was a total of 6 not including the 2 men purchasing 2 batteries . she asked for help at the counter and nobody came but you could here a lady laughing out loud in the back and others males along with her . still no help, this poor gal was going back and forth to the registers helping 2 people at a time and couldn't stop apologizing to all that was in line . she asked for help yet again and still nothing, then i yelled out if there was anyone to help . still nothing and at this point i started getting frustrated almost reading to walk out, then after about 3 people she helped a guy named Jeff walked out to help. i felt so bad for her but she was very professional and still had a smile on her face. I on the other hand was not so pleased .
ordered the same wrong part twice
My wife and I and two of our grandchildren were on a spring break vacation. We came from Colorado to Prescott, Arizona and then over to Camp Verde Arizona.
As we arrived at our hotel my brakes failed. My son came up from Apache Junction, AZ to help me he determined that the brakes master cylinder needed replaced. O'reilly's there in Camp Verde was the closest parts store to us so I called them. They informed me that they did not have the part there but could have it by 2:00 the next day, so we ordered it and rented two rooms for $140.00 each.
At 2:00 the next day we picked up the part and installed it in our car BUT the break lines did not fit. So we called O'reilly's and asked why. Late that evening we learn they sent the right box but wrong part. Again they could have it there by 2:00 the next day.
We then rented a room for $140.00 for the night. My son drove into Phoenix to get the right part at their warehouse to save time the next day. When he got there they opened the box and oops wrong part. So he returned it and went to an Auto zone in Gilbert AZ bought the part for less money brought it back the next morning and installed it bled the brakes and off we went. To late for more vacation but at least we made it home.Never again will I call Oreilly's if I am in real need of parts.
77422 location
After refusing to sell me a part and having to call y'all once I just decided to comment on my experience upon returning. No different! Completly disrespected once again! Was told the only reason I was being sold the part is because they don't want any more drama! Let's just say the only way I will return to that location is if I am YET AGAIN BROKE DOWN! I ALWAYS try to go to Angleton! They are the best around our area as well as Lake Jackson. Always very helpful! Must say I've never been treated so badly at ANY establishment!
given the wrong part again
I want to complain about my last two years of business with O'Reilly's first I bought a fuel pump and I had to go back three more times for times and off to get the right part II Lee I had a U-joint I had to go back three times to get the right part today I bought a ball joint and of course it was the wrong part so my trucks on the side of the road again I've had enough this will be the last time I do any business with O'Reilly's. I'm going to get on Twitter and I'm any media I can until every person I know that'll listen about my experiences with your company
employee baley pepper
Your employee, Baley Pepper, posted a Snapchat on social media with a picture of himself referring to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as just "another n*gger." He posted this on Monday and has received public backlash every since. His actions outside of work reflect back on the company he works for. This in unacceptable and I hope y'all make the right approach.
I apologize for the first update. I did not mean to send that as an update, but as a reply.
If a black guy did this he should be fired to! Foh with them "if he was black" comments!
Oh get the [censor] out of here with that [censor]. Your going after someones job because you hate what the think? What does that say about you? He has just as much a right as you to speak his mind whether you like it or not. Also you know damn well blacks use the word N word more then whites these days. Just because it's [censor] doesn't make it right. Ive heard way more black people using that word the last 20 yrs then white people. You think your doing any good by this guy losing his job lol, for real? Ya thats really gonna change how he thinks or help your cause lol...
Please fire this person. And while you're at, slap him with some sort of hate crime... I am so tired of this ignorance. Grow up people... Your pursuance of seperation is gonna get us blown up!
Pretty disgusting on his part, but if the roles were reversed and this was a black person making a similar comment about a white person, no one would think anything of it. For some reason, blacks are "allowed" to be racists.
If he was black the same thing should happen! FOH with them "if he was black" comments. He's not black so that don't matter. He was out of line period! You're showing your ignorance with stupid statements.
the east prater way store at mccarran christy
I went in to return a set of speakers that I had bought, and right off the bat they gave me a hard time over the box they came in I did not have it. after I told them they did not work properly, they then said we can do a manufacture return, so they did. now I had another tool that I had tried to use< and it did not work I ended up using something else. it was a tie rod puller a pittman to be exact, and anyway it did not work, and I asked to return it I had the recipt, and I paid cash, and it was inside the warrenty period, but she said no. she did not want to lose her job for doing the exact same thing she just did with the speakers. she said because I didnt have the pakage and because it was used, isaid yeah thats how you find out if something does not work by using it, anyway she basiclly made me sound like I was to stupid to use the tool proprly and told me I had to take it up with her manager in the morning. she was rude inconsiderate, and very in my face about the whole thing. I thought your policy was customer satisfaction? that is the farthest thing fromn that young ladys mind. I dont see how she is even in a position of any authority with the way she treated me. I hope something is done about this, becauyse I am a hard working person who does not need to be harrased over a 16 dollor cqash return. thank you for your time, and merry christmas. Sean Shelley.
disrespectful employee
There's a young woman by the name of Shauna that is employeed there, I had the unfortunate pleasure of interacting with her on two separate ocassions. The last and FINAL Time being TODAY. I am not normally one to file complaints, but this young woman's attitude; from the time I walked through door was negative.
I went up there this afternoon so I could talk to the manager about her, only to be belittled by a young man who was working the cash register. I did not get his name but he refused to hear anything I had to say, mind you I was as calm as a cucumber and the camera footage will gladly display that. He and Shauna acted is if I had no right to be in that establishment, filing a complaint.
I directly told Shauna she should not be working in customer service if she is is going to be condescending when responding to customers. I am simply not going to stand by and allow a presumed "professional" to speak to me in any other way than respectfully.
I kindly told her I have NEVER spoken or responded to ANYONE Like she did while WORKING in a PROFESSIONAL ESTABLISHMENT.
She MUST BE REPREMANDED, & I will see that she and that young man are held responsible for their disrespectful customer service skills.
IF he/she is not REPREMANDED, I will NEVER SET FOOT an O'Reilly establishment again and I will warn thers to heed my warning.
"I directly told Shauna she should not be working in customer service"
Whether or not this is true, it is not a polite or kind thing to say. Your complaint conveys that you may not have been as calm as you claim. Do you have specific examples of how you were belittled or treated in general?
In regards to your complaint, this is a third party consumer complaints board and is not directly affiliated with O'Reilly. They will most likely not see your complaint here, so you will want to contact the store or corporate office directly. You will want to note however that any disciplinary actions or reprimands the employees receive will not be relayed to you as the customer for privacy purposes. At most what they will tell you is "we will speak with the employees in question."
store manager
Manager of Gilbert and Guadalupe store threatens to fire employees over "trying to be too funny", claims employees aren't doing any hard work, told one employee that "nobody gives a [censor] about her truck", tells employees to try and not talk while working, also blames employees of taking pictures of customers. District Manager, Ray, doesn't handle situations at all, doesn't take any situations seriously, lets store managers get away with being SEXist and everything else.
the manager's service
About 8 months prior I ordered a part for my truck well it turned out I didnt need the part. I guess it was maybe a week later I get a phone call from the manager accusing me of walking out with out paying for this part I ordered. Well after a not so good conversation he told me he would talk to his counter guy an get back with me. I never from him again. I never picked up the part. Well I was buying a lower ball joint on [protected] I got replaced it an 3days ago it was bad so I went an bought another one. An yesterday I tried to take the defective one back for a refund. An the same manager was giving a problem he tried to tell me I brought back mote than I have bought. Well I dont know where they screwed up but he basicly accussed me of trying to steal from them again an this realy makes me angry. Im not a theif I spend alot of money with oreillys an I dont appreciate being treated like this. He wouldnt even exchange the part an he an I could clearly see the defect in the part. Depending on if corporate even acknowledges this will determine if I ever buy another part from oreillys. The store is rockdaletexas. Thanks
employee
I was an employee for O'Reilly Auto Parts for a year. During that year, I, as an older employee, was the floor stock person. I kept complaining during my time with O'Reilly Auto Parts, that people were on their phones way too much as there was too much to do in the store for them to be idle. This fell on deaf ears most of the time. It seemed I was the only one that was working, besides the manager. Then they changed management and it got worse. The manager that replaced my initial manager was worse as he was one of the people that had been on his phone all the time. Also, as a woman, I got lower pay than any other employee in the region, which was not a very good impression. This company says that they are a great company to work for, well is you want to stand around and read news on your phone or text and message on your phone, sure you are. I quit, after a last confrontation with the manager. I quit the next day, but this was why I quit. It has been a year and a half since this all took place. I would like o'reilly Auto Parts to live up to their own hype. Make your employees feel appreciated. I was also one of the morning drivers for the store and that was always a good experience, except when the wrong items were sent, but that was all taken care of with professionalism. I just wanted it to be known that it is no as great a company to work for that it portrays.
