We decided not renew our subscription to Readers Digest and told them so. Of course they ignored this request and charged our credit card $32.98. When we complained about this they returned $21.98 to the credit card keeping $10.99 we complained about this oversight they ignored us again. They haven't returned any emails or money. What right do these crooks have to steal from us? I know this isn't much money, but why should we give it away to a rich company for nothing? We sure don't owe them this money!

My elderly father keeps getting calls from what shows on the caller ID as "US READER" My father who has alzheimers gave them bank information and the company took all the money out of his account. $1, 290.00...If there would have been more money they would have taken more.

BEWARE. I will be filling more complaints after I get more information. Just wanted everyone to get a heads up.

HYSTERICAL that the ad for this page is for Readers Digest...along with the list of other complaints for that company

That's horrendous. I know what it's like. My mother suffered with alzheimer's too. We finally had to remove the phone. I hope you can get it sorted out, but I suspect you should take this to the police as well. In Canada that would be considered crimes against the elderly, which are taken very seriously.

It's a difficult one because he gave them the bank information. Unless you have a record of what they spoke about, you might be hanging out on a limb. I hope you find a solution.

hi my name is joan blanchard and my complaint to you is, why do you keep sending out winning cards with access coder to subscribers if we are unable to access the codes. The reason is because it keeps saying this site do not exist. You know that this is false advertising to the public I would like to know how to apply on line for my chance to win this ipod you say i am abele to enter to win if my code come up.

I guess it's like all the winnings you said that i have won over the years and did not receive because i did not buy tie item of the mounth at that perticular time. All you do is build up poor peoples hopes just to let them down.Last year i was to have won 10 million in cash and when i would not buy the book worth 50 dollars all i got was one salt shaker from a set of two.Verry disappointing.

thanks again for another disappointment.

You start getting into the craze of winning, and there is so much junk I keep receiving from RD It's totally confusing.

They are getting it back but i feel they owe me the postage to do this. Is their business so bad they have to lie and cheat people to survive? I live on Soc Sec and i dont need this sort of thing. Just received letter and check from Reader's Digest about a win. Seemed fishy so I immediately looked on line and came across this complaint board. So I am glad you all were there to keep me from getting caught up in a scam. I tend to be very naive sometimes. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. Those of you that have been caught in this scheme-thank you for posting it, it greatly helps people like me.

Thanks.

I also received a PAST DUE Bill for $29.65/- from Readers Digest for VOL 4-09 Silks and I called up their Customer Care at [protected]. They told me that I have ordered something which I am not aware of. The free gifts from RD is kind of a trap. When I expressed my discontent about this transaction, the Customer Care took off the amount billed and cancelled my subscription.

Ordered 2 items from catalogue. Received 3 different items. Received letter confirming processing error but assured delivery in time for Christmas.

Customer services were horrendous and totally out of touch. A manager told me nonsense - TWICE. Their 'guarantee' of quality service is a waste of paper.

extremely disappointed.

My name is Sylvie and I work for Reader's Digest in Customer Care.

If you are trying to find the link through a search engine (Google, Yahoo, etc.), it is possible that you will not be able to access the website to enter the contest.

To access it, click "File" then "Open" in your web browser (for example, Internet Explorer) and type the address in the space provided. Be sure to type the address in lower case as upper case may not work.

If you are using Web TV or AOL, you may be unable to access the website.

I hope this will be of help to you and I wish you the best of luck.

If you have any questions, you can view our FAQs at www.rd.ca/contact.

I have allowed myself to be suckered into PCH in the past but never learned just how stupid these

people who organize the "contests" think we are. I rec'd the iPod give away too. Until I went on line to

enter the contest, I noticed there was no year date, just May 31st @ midnight. Upon checking further

the most recent date I could find was 19 something. This is quite deceptive and I'm glad I noticed the

before trying to figure this out and waste precious time. So, good luck to all who have tried to win this

FREE iPod. But, I, m afraid we are all too late to be entered.

I have been trying to cancel a subscription for 6 months! The magazines stopped but they keep billing me. I have talked to countless people, faxed the information they requested and have been promised monthly that it has been taken care of. Right now I'm waiting for a call-back that was to take place last Thursday. Now I'm going to have to take it up with the credit card company. Beware of ordering promotional magazines for fundraisers or airmiles, at least that is the excuse Reader's Digest is using for the 6 month delay. their customer service leaves a lot to be desired!

I agree. I just tried to access this website and it doesn't exist. I've always trusted Reader's Digest and have been a customer since 1978. This is just a little off-putting!

If you go to www.readersdigest.ca/ipod, at the bottom of the page you will find a link to the Official Rules. These state that the draw closes on May 31, 2010.

Once you have entered the code provided on the card you received, on the next page you will also see that the draw closes on May 31, 2010.

There is therefore still time to enter.

Also wanted to clarify that Reader's Digest and PCH are not the same company.

I, too, have been getting calls from this "company". They say I am renewing Readers Digest, which I do not subscribe to. ( this has been going on about 3 years and I keep tellin them I do not get it)
Then they called to say a credit card # had to be verified to renew my newly placed order for magazines I never ordered.
Just today I got a call again to renew subscriptions for magazines for which I do not receive (I actually do receive one of them). The actually had a list of about 7 subscriptions which are in my name... I do not get them at all.
They need to be looked into.
