We had made a reservation (BOOKING 1905614)for three tickets on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, departing at 2:00 PM, through Rehlat.com. The flight was scheduled to depart from Dubai International Airport, Terminal 1, to Egypt, with a final destination of Hurghada, Egypt. The initial cost of the tickets was AED 6,706.00, and we received confirmed tickets from Rehlat.
However, a few hours later, we received an email and a phone call from a representative of the company, informing us that there had been an unfortunate fare increase. To confirm our tickets, we were asked to pay an additional 50 AED per person (a total of 150 AED) along with a fare difference of AED 969. We agreed to pay the extra amount, bringing the total to AED 7,825, and received another confirmation email for our tickets.
On the day of our flight, we arrived at the airport three hours before departure and approached the check-in counter of Egypt Air. After approximately 15 minutes of checking in the system, we were asked to wait to the side for an extended period, possibly an hour or more. Frustrated, we eventually approached the person in charge at the check-in counter to inquire about the delay. To our shock, we were informed that our tickets were not in the system and could not be located.
Immediately, we contacted Rehlat, and they instructed us to wait for a call back. We also asked the airline for assistance, but they stated that there were no available seats left, and we were denied boarding due to the missing tickets. Regrettably, we never received a call back, an email, or a refund. We initiated the process for a full refund, explaining our situation, and Rehlat informed us that "as per Egypt Air," there was a cancellation fee of 1,050 AED per person, nearly half of the ticket cost.
After exchanging 45 emails over several months, we received no refund or resolution. We attempted to contact them by phone multiple times, but as soon as we started explaining our situation, they hung up on us. It is impossible to express the frustration and the extent of the damage this situation caused. After reading numerous similar stories in Google reviews, it became evident that this company was engaged in fraudulent activities.
We are at a loss regarding how to proceed, and it is astonishing that this company still possesses a license and continues to defraud people. We even sought assistance from Egypt Air, who confirmed that all money had been refunded to Rehlat but couldn't provide us with any documentation. They advised us to deal directly with the agency, Rehlat, from whom we had purchased the tickets.
Desired outcome: Full Refund for 3 tickets - total amount of: AED 7,825
