Safeway bad. gasoline on a fillup

One week ago tonight I was driving from Renton WA with my daughter and two granddaughters. Its a miracle that we made it to Idaho. Stopped for a fill up in Grandview WA at a Safeway supermarket while we got sandwiches at 9:30 pm. 10 minutes after getting the gas on the Highway 84 we started to lose RPMs and stalled and stopped while going 65mph. It was 10 pm and my daughter was driving, with her daughters 23 months and 8 yrs old in the back seat. What would you do? She saved us! This kept happening for many miles while we tried to find a gas station open. The scariest ride ever, with the engine turning off while traveling on a highway with trucks all around us. She kept racing the engine and occasionally jump starting it at 30 mph. Made it to a truck stop in Oregon no mechanic on duty, check oil it was fine. Attendants and trucks agreed it looked like and sounded like bad gas. Nothing we could do to fix car at that time of night. Had to get to Idaho to meet moving truck at 8 AM drove with same problem til the next truck stop, Love's, just before leaving Oregon got high test gas (3/4 of a tank) and car was 30% better. Still stalled and RPMs screwed up but we made to Nampa alive! Just horrible. My daughter had to do all the driving ; I couldn't because my right knee replacement couldn't take that kind of driving abuse. She was great and all the problems kept her wide awake! Better than a gallon of coffee. Called Safeway the next day, got the run around because I had no proof and no one else complained. we probably got all the bad gas on the fill up. Anyone have any idea how I can prove this ?
Called the Safeway the next day, spoke to store manager eventually. I got another call the next day had to answer a whole questionaire. I.e., did I have the fuel tested. Really, at 1AM in the morning, iI should know this? then got a call from corporate asking more questions. Guess what? Got a letter from Safeway today they said I had no proof ... too bad. What would have happened if we had gotten into a serious accident. No proof, no responsibility on their part. I am reporting this to the state. How can the people who made this decision live with themselves. My car is still messed up and I can't even afford to get it fixed. Oh gave them fuel pump number and time of sale and amount of sale. They said no one else complained!
Safeway you are a horrid corporation. All the money I spent in your store and buying gas in the past and this is the kind of treatment a widow gets from a big corporation when we all nearly died!

My wife has been shopping at this particular safeway store for over 4 years now. We spend over 3000.00 dollars a year just in prescriptions from the pharmacy alone. On 2/13/13, I visited store #1932 with my children to pick up a few items. As I am in the checkout line #4, a shopper ahead of me checked out with no problem. It's now my turn and before the cashier (Susssana) began scanning my items, the cashier proceeded to ask me a serious of questions which threw me completely off gaurd. The cashier asked, "How are you...

Safeway safeway employees victims of mobbing and bullying practices

Safeway employees are victims of mobbing and bullying practices! Poor mgt practices overlook low employee morale due to constant changing job shifts, below workweek hours, and employee gossip and defamation of character forces many to leave…..The results are poor customer service and poor job performance in all areas……Many stores are closing…And consumers are going elsewhere…..

My son is 3000 dollars poorer because of unfilled promises For a mgt position . He relocated for his job and then when the promised mgt position did not materialize had to move again losing 3000. This after putting in almost 4 1/2 years with the company ! I too am out of pocket helping him subsidize his income because of fewer hours etc. The result of his employment with safeway caused him health and mental distress …..He is so much better now that he no longer has to put up with all the harassment he received .

He now has a job as an asst property mgr….. But still hears rumors that have defamed his character even after not being employed by safeway for 2 months including one that he was sent to prison! I am incensed …..

He was called gay on his first day of work at the sandy safeway while on break with my other son who works in another store in sandy . Employees who did not know either of them called them partners! …I am so incensed by this that it all i can do not to go into that store and take on the mgr myself…..

I am hoping that others that have received such treatment will organize a class action suit against the store. I see that there are many out there!

Safeway bad rewards system, customer service stinks

We just moved to Littleton, CO, and have both a Kroger and a Safeway right around the corner from us. Signing up for the Kroger rewards card took 5 minutes and we got two key-chain cards for scanning. Easy.

Today I went to the Safeway and asked to sign up. The clerk handed me 1 credit-card size Club card. I asked for a 2nd for my wife. Here's where the fiasco began:

> I was given a 2nd credit-size card for my wife
> the two cards have different account numbers, so we'd end up earning rewards separately
> when I asked about this, the clerk said I had two options for combining the accounts:
1. go to the Safeway website (I did this, and it didn't recognize either account number!)
2. call 877-SAFEWAY - I did that and, after get a rep after more than 35 minutes (I checked!), the call was cut off (at least it saved me from listening to bad music with horrendous sound quality)

This is a joke! It's no wonder that Kroger's market cap is 3 times that of Safeway, and their stock is going up, not tanking life Safeway's.

Got no credit when I went there yesterday for gas. WTF? I've spent about 90 bucks there in the last 3 weeks. Not to mention, I use that card at the checkout counter and the cashier violates my privacy by blurting out my name to tell me how much I saved...saved? I just spent! And quit blabbing my name all over the place. Maybe I just bought Preparation H or kotex of something. Sheesh. Just give me my receipt and my credit for gas.

Lord have mercy. First reward cards are a gift not a right and for someone to complain about them shows how intelligent you are. Like someone else said, key in your phone number..is that too hard for your simple mind to grasp?

And if Safeway's stock is so bad, why the hell would you want their reward card?

Business always become bad or their stock suck when the customer is too stupid to figure out how to use their damn card.

Safeway scam $1,700 in damage

Last February I contracted through an online service www.safewaycartransport.com to have my car hauled. The bid was accepted from one car hauler, who then subbed the job out (unknown to me) to SafeWay Car Transport. The car was a vintage, near mint 1966 Mustang that my father in law had given us and we were having it hauled from Kentucky to New Hampshire. When SafeWay Car Transport picked up the car they immediately damaged it when loading it onto the truck, as the front point of the hood was lifted into the front of another car as the operator positioned the mustang. The hood had a gouge and damage to the chrome trim piece. My father in law (a retired car hauler himself) was there when the car was loaded, and commented that he had never seen anyone not know what they were doing like this operator. During the course of transporting my Mustang, the operator had to move it to make way for another car he was picking up, and this time he completely smashed and destroyed the passenger side headlamp, bezel and assembly.

The damage was pointed out to me (hard not to notice it) when they dropped the car off, and they promised to get me a check to repair it quickly. The owners of Safeway Car Transport, Michael Newson, requested that I get two insurance estimates. I took the car to two different body shops, and got estimates for just over $1, 700 to have the repairs made. Both shops were within $50 of each other on their estimates. Then, Michael Newson requested pictures of the damage, so I sent them two pictures taken with a cell phone. They sent these two pictures to a "desktop appraiser" who then gave them a repair estimate of $1, 200+, without having even seen the car or the extent of the damage. To make things worse, the desktop appraiser admitted that he had to go by an estimating manual that only went back to the 1987 Mustang, since that was the oldest he had. Numerous times Michael Newson told me that there were aftermarket parts available cheaply through catalogs to make these repairs. More than once, the body shop who did the work on the car told frank that aftermarket metal parts did not usually fit and had to be modified at the shop, and they were far inferior to OEM parts on a vintage car. They questioned the labor rates ($40/hour from their desktop appraiser vs. $60 from both shop estimates due to the fact that the car was vintage) more than once. The bottom line is that I contracted with Safeway Car Transport to haul a vintage car, and they accepted responsibility for it with a "guarantee" to deliver it undamaged.

Michael Newson made it clear that this was not an insurance claim since it was below their $2, 500 deductible. They first tried to get the body shop to accept their desktop, 1987 based estimate and after two months I finally told the repair shop to go ahead and fix the car while I sorted out the payment. After repairs were made, Michael Newson then offered me Just over $1, 200 LESS a $250 "deductible" (for a non-insurance claim) that would have paid me just over $900 for a $1, 700 plus repair bill. This is just one instance where Michael Newson flat out lied during the course of this transaction.

There are literally dozens if not hundreds of car haulers available to haul your car or boat, and the internet makes it so much easier to find a good reputable one who stands by their business and backs up their guarantees. With so many decent haulers out there, do not make the same mistake I made of doing business with dishonest ### like Michael Newson of Safeway Car Transport. People like this only give an industry a bad name, and unfortunately through no choice of mine, our paths just happened to cross. Don't take the chance. Use a reputable car hauler for your vehicle and don't end up wasting six months of your life fighting over a repair bill for incompetence.

Safeway employees foul language, mocking overweight customer

I have been shopping at the Downing/Evans store in Denver for 10 years and I can't what happened today. Two female employees sitting outside, chain smoking and mocking every customer that walked across the parking lot. Old, young, heavy, skinny, male, female...didn't matter. They found something to make fun of and did so using gutter language. They were very bold -- made no attempt to hide their comments. There were several customers standing there and we were all looking at each other like, WTF? . I had my young daughter with me and I was floored by the experience. Guess they forgot that those shoppers they were mocking actually pay their salary. Emailed Safeway and they said they'd pass it along. Yeah. Right. Shop at King Soopers, this store is getting more awful by the week.

Safeway poor poor customer service

On Wed. 8/15/12 I called to refill 2 prescriptions in the am and asked for a noontime pickup which was ok'ed. Arrived about 1 pm to pickup and told that they were so busy and asked me if I could pickup later in the afternoon. Note they were so busy that when I went no one was there so I went directly to the counter for service. Now this is another matter. The service in this store stinks - no hello, no greeting. no smile, they just stand if front of you waiting for you to tell them what you bothering them for. I assume that the 2 pharmacist on duty who stand behind the back counter facing you and look like they working so hard not moving away at all doesn't seem to me like they busy because busy pharmacist filling orders would be constantly going to the shelves in search of the medications, filling and returning it to the shelf rather than standing behind the counter looking like they busy playing some video game with no eye contact up front to check to see what's going on. I also assume that they are in charge of the station while on duty and oversee the clerks actions so I blame very poor supervision at this level and this must be a reflection of the stores management not to notice this kind of behavior in your otherwise wonderful store. Same goes for checkouts when 3 or 4 are lied up with 2 checkers and no effort to open another stand and worse there is no stand open for small item buyers to expedite things. No wonder I hear folks say I don't like the new store cuz I shopped at Kapahulu store and found service to be always accommodating there
Anyway, I told the clerk that I will be back the next day to pick it up cuz I didn't have the time to wait another hour or two. Later, I get a call from them to inform that one of the medication is out and they will have it the next day so if I could pick it up about 5 pm. I told them that I will get it the next day about noon which was ok'ed.
Now this is friday 8/17 and I get there about 1 pm and wait in line, only 1 window open and another clerk beside her doing something I guess very urgent cuz she looks at 3 of us in line and keeps doing whatever instead of servicing someone at the other window. Why have 2 windows if your policy is "keep 'em waiting so we look busy". Finally I get to the window facing the same clerk handing her my Humana card again for my pickup and she checks and then ask me if I picked up one of my med so I told her I did not. She then goes to the med stand and checks, and finally arrives with my 2 meds. Got my pickup finally, sign for it and I know I should have kept my dirty mouth shut but after all the frustrations and not even a "sorry for all the hassels", I told her your service sure stinks here and left never to visit Safeway Beretania again and you bet I will tell anyone about this should the occasion arise.
Sorry for my saying but I think your well selected store manager and pharmacists will still remain on duty so one can only expect the same. I hope my experience was an isolated case. I do like the store very much but the pharmacy dept. should be evaluated at the least.

Safeway pharmacy SE Woodstock has the worst pharmacist around. Customer service sticks. She is not even polite. Rude rude rude. Ongoing for two years now. I have free insurance on a fixed income. I worked at the same job 25 years. They act like I don't deserve service. I hope some day they get old and need a little kindness and help too!

Today I received rude behavior from Lorianna at the Safeway Pharmacy @ 1426 Harmony Road, Ft. Collins, CO. My husband and I were at the Pharmacy to get his prescription filled. Lorianna said his insurance would not cover his prescription. He told her Medicare Generation called after he paid for his last prescription and said they would pay for 6 pills. Lorianna said that she had talked to them and they said they would not pay. I said, they had told my husband that they would pay for 6. She said it will take me an hour to call them and they already told me they would not pay. I said, they told him they would pay. She became very rude, loud and belligerent. She told the people in line that she didn't know when she could wait on them because she had to call our insurance. She shook her head and rolled her eyes as if we had caused her a hardship. My husband stayed at the pharmacy and I went to the front of Safeway to call the insurance company because my iPhone would not call out in the pharmacy area. I called and talked to a customer representative at Medicare Generation and after a few minutes she need to talk to my husband. I was able to walk back without loosing the connection. I gave him the phone and Lorianna made a statement loud enough for anyone in store to hear that if 2 people were trying to call it would take twice as long. Her behavior was uncalled for. My husband talked to the representative and then he talked to the person Lorianna had been talking to. The representative form MedicareGeneration said they will call us within 24 hours. Lorraine did not apologize for her rudeness. When we get this filled we will go to Walgreens in the future. We drove 45 minutes to get to that Safeway. We retired to Colorado January 2015. This Safeway Pharmacy had been so nice to us we continued to drive to this location after we moved to Loveland in March 2015. Walgreens and King Sooper are 5 blocks from our house. I no longer recommend this Pharmacy. Rudeness is never necessary.

I read your comments and just have to reply that NO, this NOT just an isolated incident. I have had several problems with the Safeway Berretania pharmacy as well. Today was my 3rd visit to refill a prescription, which I have filled there twice before. When I called in this refill, the automated system told me that the pharmacist would have to contact my doctor because there were no refills left and that it wouldn't be available until after 5pm the following day. Well I already knew from experience not to trust what the automated system told me since the pharmacist on duty while filling my second refill told me that! His exact words were that the corporate office on the mainland is in charge of the automated system and that I should always call and verify with someone over the phone. So I call and speak with Nancy, who tells me the number they have for my doctor isn't working and asked me to call the doctor for her. Instead I gave her the phone number so they could call it in since that is after all their job, not mine.then she calls me back to tell me that they didn't have my prescription in stock so it wouldn't be available until Monday (this was a Thursday). I wondered why they wouldn't have it in stock since surely their records must have shown that I would be refilling again after a month. Anyway, fast forward to me picking it up...I went in and paid for the meds and was waiting what seemed like 10 minutes at the window after already paying and signing for it, when the pharmacist approached me and said she couldn't dispense my medication because she had not yet logged it and that would take another 30 minutes to an hour. She apologized so that made it all OK(sarcasm). I still don't have my prescription. Their customer service and service in General is abysmal.

Safeway blood runs out when cooked

The chicken parts that I buy at Safeway in Winnipeg bleed huge globs of blood when fried at low heat. These include drumsticks, drumstics with thigh and back attached. This is not right. These chickens are not butchered correctly. I have bought these parts from a competetor and have not had the same problem. The complaint also includes Granny"s Chicken parts. Safeway is about to not only lose me business but also any one of the senior tennants in the building and the attatched one (this includes about 450 appartments.) I will be posting this on all bulleten boards. I will also speak to the owner of the Golden Retriever bus to take the people to Super Store which only one block farther that Safeway. I will do this if the problem is not corrected.

Safeway abuse towards staff

I went shopping at capilano Safeway and I noticed this older female yelling at a young girl who was standing there facing the aisle, When I got closer, I could tell the young girl had Downs syndrome and she was crying. I asked her if she was okay and her name ( her name is Nicole) and if she worked here? She said yes and I talked to her a bit to calm her down. The old lady was yelling at her to move out of the aisle, humiliating the poor girl. I asked the young girl if she knew that old lady's name but she started stuttering badly and just kept saying she was mean and kicked her out of the aisle. After about 10 minutes of talking to this young girl, who says she is around 18 or 19 and went to McNally High where my son went, I told her I was going to speak to the manager about this and if she was alright with it. She said yes, it was her last day and she was glad to be going. I told her no one had the right to bully her this way, that especially others should be more considerate especially those that work together. I told her it was not her fault that she did nothing wrong. I went to talk to the manager and the 2nd in command came to speak to me. I don't think he knew who I was talking about and yes, the store looked understaffed. I told him about the young girl, how she is in the aisle crying after I witnessed the older lady bullying her. He said he would deal with it but walked into an officer and I don't think handled it. When I went through to pay for my items, I mentioned this to one of the cashiers and she knew exactly who I was talking about, said this happens to that young girl by that old woman allot and wondered if I had told her off or put her in her place cos she apparently does not listen. SO, I take it this older lady goes around yelling and screaming at other staff members and in front of customers A LOT and gets away with it. Plus, she freaks out on a young girl with Downs syndrome ( shows her no patience whatsoever) and nothing gets done about her rotten behaviour. Well, whoever reads this should go there and handle this properly because untiles someone stands up to this woman and tells her why her behaviour is so wrong..she is going to continue to do it! Until, this situation is actually handled I refuse to shop there anymore and I will tell everyone NOT to shop there too.

Safeway Productrive but unfriendly counter help

We went to our friendly neighborhood Safeway store in Vistancia 85383, as we have for the last four years.
I accompanied my 8 year old daughter to the bakery so she could get a free cookie, and the help was distant and callous.
I asked if she was new and stated the baker manager is real nice and a friend of mine. She stated her previous career and mentioned this job just as boring. I think she said she was in finance and worked from home and now this baker position she is isolated and lonely. Being a widower of three years I took the opportunity and asked if she was single, but she said she was a widower of two years and not ready. I politely asked if I could give her my number so we could be just friends since we both experienced loss. She said no and to my surprise alarmed her management. While walking out of the store the managers were in from of the checkout line. I think they called the one manager in from his house. I was treated like some type of weird person and since this manager is also a friend of mine, he asked if we could have a man to man talk. I shared with him what took place and emphasized the fact the bakery lady has very little people skills. He mentioned we needed to talk so she can perform her job and I can continue to shop as a future customer. What day and age do we live when a man can ask a lady for her number without being treated as some type outcast... I asked the manager about apologizing but I believe I didn't do anything wrong and he agreed. I know all the managers at Safeway and believe they are the best of the best, but this is not the first time I have met someone in the bakery department that thinks that don't have to be polite and courteous...

I am sure there is more to this story than the author is telling us. Okay his impersonator did exaggerate, but I am sure the part about him pressuring her is true. The part of him wishing his daughter dead is an exaggeration, but I am sure once she said no he kept harassing her to take his number. I believe he is impersonated because I was at once on this site so much I had to have my review removed.

If this person is being impersonated, he deserves it. Like others have said he is a pig. We teach our children at a very young age to respect women. That means respecting their wishes, and if they are not interested in a man the man should back off. The fact that the manager sided with him because of their friendship as someone else stated is pathetic. The only rude one is shopper2/shopper2. When a lady says no, you leave her alone and DO NOT give her your phone number. But with what a pig shopper2 is I would not be surprised if his story about not having the correct password is true and he really is shopper2. as well.

"Either way, the author was in the wrong as well. If a woman says no, he should lay off and not be a pig."

Oh, either way this original review is a troll. Who in their right mind would ask a stranger they just met for the first time out on a date. Not only that who would then give a stranger his phone number after she nicely told him she is not interest in dating yet. He needs to lay off and take no for an answer instead of acting like she is playing hard to get. I think this review is more about him being rejected than anything. Also I do believe that shopper2 and shopper2 are the same person. Their writing style is the same despite them being "impersonated"

Safeway rotten produce

I bought a bunch of groceries total came to 250$, I went home and noticed immediately when unpacking that all the produce I had gotten was rotting! Cucumbers had soggy ends and white mold, same with rest of produce.

Went back for exchange right away same night and wouldn't allow or help me whatsoever.

Had I just bought that maybe I'd notice it faster before purchase but I had picked up 250$ dollars with and they wouldn't allow me to exchange after. 30 mins the bad produce that they shouldn't be selling anyways and should be appalled and embarrassed for doing so, the whole shelf was all rotting veggies once i returned and looked more intently.

Safeway unconstitutional restriction of freedom of speech

Safeway is picking and choosing who gets to set up or stand to the side of the entrance/egress for various community activities-specifically signature gathering. When they ask for the permit (to follow their protocol) from the Manager, they are denied. When they bring up CA case law proving that the activity is lawful and the company's practice is not. The gist is that Safeway is aggressively denying signature gatherers from their right to freedom of speech. It is no coincidence that Safeway is very much against the GMO Labeling petition. While they have an "organic" section, they refuse to say whether they were created from GMO products. Ask your local Safeway why they are doing this. It's your community, they are making money off of you.

Safeway 50% off twice the price

There is a %50 (bright orange stickers) off table in the back of the store, but the "before" prices are almost double the original price. Spaghetti sauce "before" was $8 or $9, so %50 off would put it right back where it originally was! Wine is the same way, you end up paying close to the original price. Such a ripoff.

Safeway everything

My experience was horrible! First the workers were talking to each other and I said excuse me many times for a half an hour. No one said may I help you and they were talking personal matters. I felt like I was invisible! Second the restrooms were just horrible there was moldy poop on the floor and on the walls.in the sink was hair and throw up. The restroom smelled horrible! It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months! Nothing was organized I couldn't find what a needed. The coupon service was horrible! I was buying snapple and I had a manufacturer coupon. They said it won't scan so, I said can you take a dollar off my bill and they said no, then they said if they could they still would not.

Safeway in westminster I will never shop at your store again!

Employee at Baker City Oregon store Brandon K was very rude and the way he talks to other customers is wrong. He degrades customers when he talks to people. And isn't rite. Please something must be done. I been in there multiple times and he talks to other employees very rude. And as a cashier the same way. I like the store and employees there but the way he talk to me and was helping me wasn't at all professional. I will not be shopping there until actions have been taken. Thank you so much.

Safeway mystery shopper scams

I received an offer for a job assignment, but when it came in, it was confirmed to be a scam by both the post office and my financial institute. I'm OK because I had them checked out, but I want to alert others to avoid this scam.

Safeway prepaid visa cards

Several:
1. Sell prepaid Visa cards. The buyer must then go on line to register it and give his SSN on line. You are actually signing up for a Visa card with a $9 a month service fee. Several complaints about the amount of time the activation takes effect. Some have waited weeks for the Visa to be valid.
2. Management continues to move product. Over Thanksgiving, there were no pumpkin pies in the bakery section. They were all well hidden in a door front display.
3. Glide floss. The thread through floss for crown wearers no long handled: yet there are ten different models of Glide on the shelf

Safeway old bitd

Purchased an 18.5 pound "Young" turkey with Safeway label. It came frozen solid in an opaque white wrapper and retailed for about 65 cents a pound with card. Prepped and cooked the bird as I usually do. One and a half hours early, it was already at least 180 degrees everywhere, My oven is accurate and I cooked it at 325 degrees covered in foil and with a roasting pan lid on it. It was sitting in fluid approximately one third up the height of the bird despite the fact that I added only a half can of chicken broth at the beginning. There was no more meat than on a 12 pound bird and that meat splintered into toothpick sized shards and was dry as wood. The legs and thighs were smaller (less meat) than the ones on my 14 pounder last year. When the "drippings" were refrigerated, it turned out it was about 25% fat. The meat was almost entirely dry woody and inedible.

This was an OLD turkey, probably 2, maybe 3 yrs old which had lost much of its muscle mass and had a lot of fat (despite the fact that I discarded the visceral fat before cooking it). This is interesting because in 30 yrs of cooking turkeys, old birds like this had up to now disappeared from the scene. We had one like this at home back 40+ yrs ago. My dad who grew up on a farm that raised poultry explained it to me. You simply cannot satisfactorily bake a stewing bird - no matter what you do.

So beware! If you shop for a large turkey you can wind up with an old piece of dog food like this one if you aren't careful. Mislabeled birds like this one used to be common...and may be starting to make an encore appearance at a store near you. Personally, I'm going back to name brand and staying under 14 lbs.
