pharmacy
This morning November 3, 2018 I went to the Safeway pharmacy at Redland bulvard rockville md 20850 store 1715 to get a flu shot.
At 9 am I was filling a form to get a flu shot and the person that supposed to give me a flu shot was very rude and unfriendly. She told me that I have to wait a 35 minutes that I agreed to wait, after waiting 40 minutes in a waiting room I asked how long it will be and she without looking at me told that go back and just wait! I was upset and humiliated by the pharmacy staff member and she ruined my Saturday morning and I didn't get my flu shot!
organic eggs
Hi,
I purchased a dozen organic eggs as Safeway 3970 Rivermark Plaza, Santa Clara, CA 95054 on 29th Oct . The brand name was Judy's family farm. (quantity - 1 dozen).
When I reached home, I realized that the expiry date on the eggs was actually Oct 28. Doesnt Safeway have a process to remove expired items out of their shelves?
I had purchased when I was traveling to Santa Clara. I live 15 miles from the place where I bought it. So it was not feasible for me to take it back to the shop for a refund.
Luckily we did not use the eggs as my wife checked the expiry date before cooking.
Request a refund. Attched photos and receipt.
Date of incident - Oct 29

management
As a customer with my 10 year old son, I witnessed and felt intimidated by a Safeway manager (Edwardo) who shouted across the deli and isle to an employee that was helping me. In a dominating and aggressive manner, Edoardo crosses his arms and thrust out his chest when he shouted "what, we make customers get their own bread bowls now." A near by employee shushed him in reaction to his outburst. The manager maintained his dominating body language and stared at the deli employees until my transaction was finished. I have never seen a manager belittle an employee by bullying them In front of customers. His behavior was nefarious enough to warrant termination and legal ramifications by the female employee he was harassing. We teach our children to not bully. Clearly, Safeway management needs the same lesson. Bullying employees is intolerable—especially in front of customers!
exchanging of propane tank
Aloha,
I often exchange propane tanks for my side business as a cook. I go to several stores for exchanging of propane tanks (Walmart, Home Depot & Safeway) And normally I will go at a decent time but sometimes I cannot get to the store at a decent time to exchange a tank. I rely on Safeway as the semi-last resort since the store is open 24hrs. There have been times when I almost couldn't exchange the tank because a cashier didn't know where the key to unlock the propane was but somehow we found someone. Tonight though, I am super upset because the manager was leaving or going on break at about 2am or so and said he couldn't exchange the tank for me because he locked up the key for the propane tanks in the safe and he doesn't have the combination for the safe. I asked him if he could call someone to get the combination but he said "no and they would t give me the combo over the phone" yet I don't see why not since the safe was open for him to put the propane key in it! I'm extremely disappointed that this store is open 24 hrs yet can not accommodate, me, the customer with the exchange of propane tanks. There should be a sign stating that propane is available til a certain time if this is how you do business with the propane tanks. I believe I've been told in the past that only certain people are trained or allowed to handle the propane tanks. If that's the case, maybe it might be in your best interest and mine to train more people in this area. Mahalo for your time and I hope for the future, propane will be available around the clock.

rude cashier/assistant manager
October 19, 2018, receipt shows 10:37 am, Rose Hill Rd Safeway in Alexandria:
Cashier/Assistant Manager by name Keisha (may be misspelled) was very rude person. When I friendly reached out with my hand to grab a gallon of milk that she wanted to bag together with a big juice bottle, she did a very quick and rude hand gesture that was saying to me :"Get out of my way". I was shocked and first I thought that I may have touched her hand, but it happened so fast that I was not sure if I touched her or the bag. Anyway, I apologized to her saying in calm voice : "I am sorry if I touched you in inappropriate way...", just to be on the safe side . I really don't remember what she said, she may have said: "OK", or whatever, (I was in shock...) but even after that, I started to feel so bad, so low, because my feelings were hurt, because I didn't think I deserved her attitude and hand gesture and all I could tell at the and to her was, in a low tone: "By the way, that was very rude from you...". That is when she started to be even more rude. I was expecting for her to apologize, and she was actually even more arrogant and disrespectful. Her body language, her voice, saying that I can go ahead and complain, that they have security cameras to check, and she didn't allow me to finish any of my sentences. She was constantly talking and interrupting me. I looked around and there was Loretta, cashier that I know for many years. She was bagging some items behind cashier stand next to mine and she was just looking down. I thought that she was embarrassed by what she was witnessing, but later on I realized that Keisha was current store assistant manager, so that was probably an extra reason why Loretta couldn't even say anything, either to calm me or Keisha. Regardless of who is wrong or right, someone should have reacted from the store side. I didn't want to make even bigger scene and I left, thinking that Loretta would report the incident to whoever was in charge, but if I knew that Keisha was assistant manager, trust me, I would stay and complain more.
I feel so bad and so low. That Safeway is my home store for over 16 years and all people were always so nice and friendly. Keisha is a totally new person to that store, I never saw her before, but if this is how the assistant managers and employees are trained, how to bag gallon of milk..., and how to show kind and warm customer service, she is far, far away from properly trained person.
I called yesterday, October 28th at 9:58 am Safeway Customer Service, spoke to Diane and she recorded my complaint. She was very nice and understanding, regardless of what she thought who was right.
After that, person by name Mrs. Johnson (I hope I didn't remember her name wrongly), called me from number [protected] and started to explain to me that she spoke to both Keisha and Loretta, that Loretta said that Keisha was not yelling (yelling/raised voice can be interpreted in many ways...) and that Keisha showed that she was OK with me apologizing to her, ...after which I should be OK...(!). I tried to explain to Mrs. Johnson that I actually didn't feel OK at all and that is why I told Keisha that she was rude, but I saw where the conversation between me and Customer Rep Mrs. Johnson was going. Even she started to behave like Keisha and didn't allow me to finish my sentences after which I didn't allow to her, too, and I didn't like how that whole conversation sounded like. My impression was that she was defending her employees and there was no place for me in that conversation. I finished the conversation with something like: "I don't want to talk to you any longer. Have a nice day" and I hanged up.
I still feel so bad and low and I hope that both Keisha and Loretta learned something from this case. I learned for sure and one of the things is that I should have recorded all of it with my phone and to have better evidence...
I hope that someone can watch the store security camera recording for that day and see from the tape the improper behavior and body language that I am talking about...I wish you could have the sound, as well.
Thank you in advance for reading my whole complaint. You may think whatever you want about me, but if you can at least record that one person complained about Keisha, it may raise a red flag if another customer complains, too. If nobody ever complains about her, than I will be so happy to know that she is finally doing her job properly or that she is not coming in situation where her unprofessional attitude and personality is coming out...
My best regards,
Vera

Please delete the names of the people in my text. I apologize that I didn't pay attention to what this Board is about. I honestly thought that my letter was going to Safeway Board and that they would just talk to all people involved. I put names and my cell phone number only for purpose of contacting me by customer Service Representatives. Please delete the whole post if necessary. Thank you in advance, Vera
food
1. Still keep an item a week old expired on regular shelf. I did not have time to look for expiry date of each item, just grab it and noticed that it was a week past. Sabra guacamole.
2. Bought hot item food and got messy bleed of ink all over container and some leak into the food. Don't wanna eat it due to hygiene.
Pls see attached photo.
Very unhappy. Safeway is the closet grocery but found the location lack of enough staff, attention to detail and often time wrong pricing.
deli
I went to the deli to order a sandwich. All the workers ignored me. A young man was walking out with a cart load and stopped. He assisted me with my order. As the young man was preparing my sandwich, a Safeway employee was purchasing food. The woman near the register assisted him with his purchase. After getting my sandwich, I went to the register to pay. I asked her if I can pay here. She stumbled around with her words and sent me to the check out stand. The store personnel has no customer service at all. The worst experience.
pharmacy
The wait times are Safeway pharmacies are increasingly long. I call the pharmacy on the phone and nobody answers, they are understaffed all the time. I've been told this by the pharmacy staff and the managers at my local Safeway. I've been told by the staff they are understaffed and stressed because of it. I'm literally waiting for my prescription right now. I'm switching pharmacies; going to my local Walgreens and never looking back. Hire more staff for your pharmacies.
netspend cards
My 15 yr old daughter went into a Safeway and purchased a net spend reloadable gift card. Turns out you need to be 18 years or older to be able to activate the card. So I brought the card back to Safeway to return it and I was greeted with a negative attitude from the assistant manager. We were also made to wait on hold for their customer service because it's an ubreturnable item. This is an extremely disappointing experience with Safeway.
store #1445/customer service rep meeta
Good Afternoon,
My name is Andrea Watkins. I am a Washington DC Native and have been shopping with your company in Wash. DC for over 20years. I have been shopping at that location (store # 1445) for over 13yrs. I sometimes experienced issues at this location and would not feel the need to write a formal complaint because the associates were working very hard doing the best they can with what they have. Today, Customer Service Rep Meeta, I felt was doing the best she could to create drama, negativity and a bad experience for me.
Today 10/26/2018 around 3:40pm the Customer Service Rep Meeta at store #1445 was extremely rude, unprofessional and attempted to condemn me in front of the entire store but was incorrect in her remarks thus made the situation embarassing and toxic. The whole experience was embarassing, toxic and unprofessional.
I was at the customer service desk to return 1 tray of chicken wings and a bunch of bananas that I purchased from that store (#1445) a few hours earlier. I found a cheaper price for the items elsewhere and purchased them there.
When it was my turn to be serviced, Meeta did not greet me. I greeted her, advised her why I was there and handed her my receipt. First, she told me the chicken I was returning was not the right chicken and that boneless chicken was on the receipt that I provided her. I advised her, that was the only chicken I had purchased and the boneless meat she was refering to was boneless sirloin. Meeta corrected herself but did not apologize. She then advised me to calm down. I had said two sentences to her by that time in the transaction. The 1st sentence was why I was there. The 2nd sentence was correcting her about the meat.
Then she proceeded to ask did I have the card I used to purchase the items with me. I then advised her that the purchase was debit. Meeta then advised that if I did not have the card used she would have to give me my refund in store credit.
I put my card in the card reader, Meeta then printed out a refund form and requested me to complete the refund form. Then Meeta proceeded to request help with the transaction from an associate on one of the registers. The associate (unsure of name) then advised Meeta to check to see if I used debit or credit (after I already said to her I used debit) and to stop joking. Meeta then requested help from the other Rep behind the Cust. Serv. counter with her name Daquan.
I handed Daquan the refund form as Meeta was getting my cash out of the drawer. Meeta then handed me the cash (after she made a scene about if I did not have my card I would have to get store credit), then leaned over the counter and yelled at me to have a nice day antagonizingly and aggressively toned. I took my cash and walked out of the store.
I felt so embarassed, frightened and attacked. I have not ever experienced anything such as that in any Safeway location before. I have too many options for food retailers in my area to expose myself and my family to such harmful and degrading situations. I will not continue to shop there when associates are free to treat the customers with such disrespect and foulness. I do ask that someone please look into this sitation and provide more customer service training if needed. This store has been going through alot and it seems like its trying to get better. However, with associates like Meeta, all your hard work will be wasted because all I remember about my experience with Safeway today was being blatantly and openly disrespected by Meeta.
food
I recently visited Safeway in Aberdeen Washington and bought Safeway Select classic macaroni salad upon eating it I noticed it taste funny and thought it was just me because I never bought that brand before until I started throwing up and realize it expired October 14th 2018 and it is now October 24th 2018 it's at least 10 days past its due date. I think somebody should go and inspect the Safeway to make sure nothing else is expired that's on the shelves this is a big Health concern if my daughter had gotten any in it God only knows how sick she could have got.

pilsbury pizza dough
I went in to the Leduc Safeway Store8857 Transaction 4567 on October 22, 2018 Stacey was the customer service person. I went to the isle to get the pilsbury Pizza Dough and the only 2 containters left were dated October 11, 2018. I came to the front and handed her the two containers telling her the only two containers available were expired. She had no response to that so I purchased the rest of my products and left.
The store obviously did not check the expired products nor did they refill there products. I was not very happy with this location and had to go to another store to buy my products.
brochure delivery
Brochures are not being delivered to Resort Blvd Doreen Vic.
This has been ongoing and is very poor customer service, especially when the elderly rely on these brochures to buy the specials with each week.
Most elderly people do not have access to the internet to view brochures or order online.
Please rectify this situation as soon as possible so my Mother a very valued customer of yours is satisfied.
customer relations
After using this Safeway for several years- spending at least 80k at this location alone-I was accused of fraud by a low functioning cashier. He insisted my signature did not match my ID. He humiliated me. People in line all heard what was being said, and were getting impatient. I asked him to call someone 3 times. He finally asked another cashier for help. By this time he saw 2 ID's and witnessed me signing. The other cashier told him it was ok to continue. He kept saying ‘your signatures don't match' while staring at my signature like a forensic expert. He questioned me because of my age. I was using my wic vouchers. I'm an older woman raising a toddler. He was too ignorant to realize if I was forging something, the signatures would be identical. He NEVER even apologized. I won't be back.
couldn't find the vermouth and couldn't find any help.
10/21/18 Store 1186 27035 Pacific Hwy S Des Moines WA 98198.
I was going to make a Martini and also French Onion soup. Unfortunately I couldn't find the vermouth. I sent about 30 minutes going through the wine section with no luck. Finally checked out the liquor section with no luck. I then went through check out and asked the cashier for a bottle of gin and a bottle of dry vermouth. He didn't know what vermouth was. He asked me to show him and I said I hadn't been able to find it. He said he didn't know what it was or what it was for. I asked if there was anyone who could help me and he said I would need to go through customer service. So after checking out I went over to CS and wait in line for sometime ...long lines for lottery tickets. She finally told me she did know no what vermouth was and didn't know if they carried it. Then some young kid came by and wanted to know if he could help me. he said he was new but do what he could to try and help. we look but had no luck. He then asked another cashier and she didn't know what it was either. I spent over and 1 1/2 hours looking with no results and was mystified that nobody I was able to talk to knew what vermouth was.
I am a loyal Safeway shopper and know I've purchased vermouth before at Safeway, I never have had such a disappointing experience. I'm wrong do you not carry vermouth? I liked a free bottle of extra dry vermouth please.
No update yet, I haven't submitted it.

management
My name is Jaden Barrett I am 18 years old and I Was Spoken to in a very unprofessional manner at work on Tuesday October 16 by a newly hired day manager named Liza, I however do not know her last name. The store location is 1920 South Nevada Ave. 80905 . I am a current employee at this store, I arrived to work on the 16th and within 15 minutes of being there Liza walks up to me in an apparent bad mood and has me follow her to customer service . Once at the desk she asks me in a rude tone of voice what was going on, I had thought I was in trouble based off of her body language but then she handed me a paper listing the times I've missed and been late to work . I understand I have acquired points in the point based system at Safeway for being late and call offs but I have a problem with the way she addressed me in front of everyone at customer service and made it seem like I was in some huge trouble . I then apologized and agreed to work on it and she said something very close among the lines of " I don't know if you have parents in your life or not, but I will teach you ." I took great offense to this statement for obvious reasons . I believe no employee should be spoken to in that manner at work ever . She has no right bringing my personal life into any conversation whatsoever in a professional environment such as Safeway . I take great pride in my family and my amazing parents who have raised me my whole life . For her to suggest I don't have parents in my life based off of my call offs and me being late a few times is rediculous and I believe action should be taken against her in one way or another . She made me very uncomfortable and discouraged to be spoken to like that especially by one of my managers .
I would definitely be putting in applications for other employment
Typical behavior of quite a few Safeway managers
filthy meat case
bought chicken yesterday..10-17018...realized the entire meat case had old dried blood throughout sanitary safety issue needs immediate attention so...the form said that I had to continue with more words or this would be ignored I think there is a food safety issue here and am amazed that you would be so flippant as to ignore food safety...however, looking in the case it seems highly likely safeway does not care
incorrect prices
I have been shopping at Safeway for 15 years, but no longer shop at your stores. I have been over-charged incorrect prices at least 60% of the times I shop at Safeway. I often buy sales items and most of the times there are one or two items that have incorrect price. I shop at other stores now, but will occasionally go back to Safeway and it never fails - I get overcharged. I walked out of your store today and left all my groceries after two items came up with the incorrect price.
I filed a complaint with the Virginia Consumer Protection Section of the Office of the Attorney General. This has been ongoing for years.
