Repair of a/c per home warranty contract
Several calls to Select HW since 05/24/19 diagnoses of my a/c needing new motor (Contractor asigned by SHW). I have gotten several differnt responces from agents at customer service but "no repair". As they search for another contractor they suggest I look for one too. Was told 06/12/19: a new contractor had been assigned, but will have to wait for SHW to sent the contractor a work order to do another diagnoses/repair. I will make my 9th call 6/17/19 to get my a/c repaired since it will be 91 plus degrees in Virginia Beach Va this week. This is my first and last time using this company. Horrible service.
Repair of a/c
I have been trying for 4 days to get Select Home Warranty to send someone out to repair my A/C. They had someone arranged to come look at it but they were a no-show. Now, 2 days later they are unable to provide me with someone else's contact details or a company name so that I can make arrangements to get the A/C repaired. Customer Service has no way of contacting their dispatch department nor can they get them to send me the contact details I have requested. Do not use this company!
I agree with review.. I have same problem they never gone response you just forget about this company.

Ripoff fraud broken contract
Bought a warranty March 6, 2019, 2 months 63 days in My dishwasher broke down they gave me a claim number sent a tech to my house we paid $60.00 for the service call. Need a control board they denied my claim saying the plan was only 30 days old, they stated the first 30 days is a "cool down period" the second 30 days is an" activation period" after explaining to them the math did not add up they put it in review? today May 17th, 2019 10 days after my claim they told me after having to call them for the 8th time that it was now 35 days for the cooldown and activation period? total rip off the should not be in business, there should be a law against this kind of scammers I will be posting this everywhere I can, they need to be out of a job. I am glad I paid monthly they only got me for 3 months and a 60 $ service call.
Home warranty
I put in a claim .I was assigned a repair man.After I paid the service call fee "SHW" said they were not fixing it.If not covered they should have known that and not given me a claim # and a repair man .I should be reimbursed $ paid out for service call. Paid $75. on 2-26-2019.Claim#01037144.I call SHW three times and was told a supervisor would call me back but they nev er did.
Not keeping their end of the contract
I have paid them and now my refrigerator needs work and they refused to fix it! Fraud! They lie all the time. Refuse to even speak to a supervisor would not give me anybody higher up what I need to speak to lie to me four times on one phone call like to the Pliance owner as well and it's been eight days and I have not yet had my refrigerator fixed. I am losing food are you hanging because these people and my food is going bad. We are retired couple and cannot afford to keep going out and buying food I find it a palling
Air conditioning
I requested air conditioner company 8/7. Took several calls to get the 2nd company they emailed about to come out a week and a half later. Veterans Business services tech said my 31 year old unit had a valve leak and the whole unit needed to be replaced. They took a long time to submit the diagnosis to select home warranty. Select home warranty, then, wanted more information; which that company never responded to. They would not return call to SHW, or myself.
After 2 weeks from my initial call, SHW rep told me to get my own company & sent an email on the process.
On 9/1, right before Labor Day, Hills Air conditioning came out and while speaking to the SHW approval representative, the compressor quit working.
The initial cause of my 31 year old air conditioner not cooling the house was a leak in the valve. The Freon wasn't able to cool properly due to the leak in the valve, so the unit was always running which broke the compressor.
The approval representative was told the compressor had quit and yes, the AC had to be replaced and Hills HVAC tech said he could do it for maybe 1800.00. The approval technician said he would approve it for that amount; very excitedly, and would send me forms for Hills AC to fill out for my reimbursement.
It couldn't be done that Saturday 9/1, so Hills went and purchased the new unit and installed it 9/4.
On 9/4, select home warranty sent me an email saying they'd reviewed my claim and decided the Freon leak is what broke the unit and would not pay or be responsible for the new unit.
This is not what happened and the HVAC tech and myself have talked to everyone in this horrible company to no avail.
Do not waste your time and money on this company.
I am planning to sue them since they approved the new unit, and they let you know they record every conversation.
Home warranty service
Worst Service, Worst Experience, Biggest Scam.
I Prepaid for three years. Biggest mistake. Two claims, in 2 years, Both were not paid due to the fine print in the contract. One for AC repair. The other for a Water Heater Repair.
Customer service is terrible. When I asked the agents on the call to give me their name and employee id? since they were very rude. They declined and the two agents dropped the call.
When I called back, I was told, "We don't know which call center you were talking with" hence, they can't find a record of the call being dropped.
Back to the claims history. Both claims, Select was not able to secure a local contractor to do the work for me. No one locally want to work with Select. I was told by select agents to find a local service guy, and they will work with him. Both contractors I brought in, I had to pay for the service call out of my pocket, since Select refused to pay for the service. "{Too expensive. I need to find a cheaper guy". that's what they told me.
When I asked to be transferred to the claims adjusters, I was told, that Department don't have phone extensions.
Take my advice, Steer away from these scammers. Terrible company to deal with. terrible customer service.

Home warranty at its lowest
Beware of “Select Home Warranty” company. This is a shyster of a company, promising everything till you sign up but when needed, they weasel out of responsibility, ignore you or offer ridiculous resolutions:
1. Dish Washer Saga:
On June 24th 2017 I filed an online claim for my GE dishwasher, followed by a call next day confirming the claim and was assured someone will be assigned to my claim and an email will be sent. The next day I did receive an email assigning the job to a repair facility but when I called the repair facility I was told that they have no technician till middle of next week AND that they (repair facility) did tell Select Home Warranty (SHW) of that.
So I again contacted SHW and was told they will look into that and that my dish washer brand is rare and difficult to find a tech for (a load of nonsense and a bad excuse, it is a GE the most popular Dish Washer in USA) and that they will assign claim to another repair facility. When a whole day passed without hearing from SHW, I contacted them again and this time they explained that it is a very busy time of the year and it takes 2 – 3 weeks for repair (again a load of nonsense) and gave me an option to get a tech to estimate work involved and to call with them with estimate. I called 3 Repair facilities who were happy to come over and do repair immediately or next day, but when they heard the name of “Select Home Warranty” they all took my number and said they will call back. None of them called back. No one wants to work with SHW!
It is now 3 whole weeks and I am STILL without any repair or resolution to this claim.
2. Microwave Saga:
July 10th 2017 I filed an online claim for a GE over the stove Microwave. SHW 3 days later sent a resolution email I copy and paste here:
“The amount that you have been authorized toward a replacement is $95.00”
This is a $450.00+ Microwave with at least a $150 cost for installation and “Select Home Warranty” offered $95.00! What highway robbery is this?
I felt compelled to write about my experience with SELECT HOME WARRANTY so that others do not fall victims to this very unprofessional, incompetent and a cheat that is evidently defrauded their customers as well as contractors alike.
Washing machine repair.
My husband applied for this service. It is the worst of all times. The staff refer you to some contractor that don't come as they claim. We called again to complain and they give you some company that doesn't seem to be professional at all. We paid $45.00 for service call and was told the part was on back order a month ago. We were referred to All Appliance Service and I guess they work from home and don't call you back. Select is awful and the people they use are awful. If our washing machine was completely down we would be at the laundry mat. Please don't waste your time using these companies.
Washer cook stove
I had a contract with Select Home Warranty and they said on my stove that they didn't cover parts, only labor. So I cancelled that contract and when I did they charged me early cancellation fee, prorated my total so out of almost $499.99, I received $20.00 for five months service and my appliances were not fixed. Choice called and I voiced what terrible business Select offered. Of course they guaranteed they were outstanding on their service and they offered a sale on their contract. So I purchased it on March 14, and last week when I had trouble with my washer I had a terrible time getting hold of anyone and when I did it was several days till the contractor came. Then I get a call from Choice that the part I needed for my washer wasn't covered. They said look at the contract on page so and so. Well I have called them three different times trying to get a contract which I still don't have one. Of course they say they sent one. These type of crooks need to be stopped. My husband and I r 66 years old and we don't have money to throw away. I guess I will have to buy a washer. I told Choice I wanted to cancel my contract and of course they take $50.00 out for early termination. I would love to be apart of any action taken to stop this type of people that r taking advantage of every person they can.
Refusal to cover repair/replacement
I bought a home warranty to provide coverage for my home and appliance, after paying $399.00 for this bogus warranty and inquiring if they covered the usual appliances, and being assured that they did, I had the misfortune of needing their services. I had a problem with a hot water heater and the thermocoupling unit; which would cause the pilot to go out...
