Select Home Warranty Microwave

My microwave stopped working, first they told me they don’t send technicians out to fix microwaves then after two weeks, they said they were sending a technician out to look at it. The technician came charged me $75 told me it was broke couldn’t be fixed had to be replaced then told me what a terrible company Select Home warranty is. Their own technician is telling me what a bad company this is. Select Home warranty approved my replacement and told me they were giving me $125 towards a new microwave. So $125 -$75 for the service charge equals $50 towards a new microwave. This place is a joke it’s a scam run don’t walk from this company.!

Desired outcome: Their salesman told me if an appliance needed to be replaced. It will be equivalent to what I had, $50 towards a new microwave is not equivalent to buy a microwave

Select Home Warranty coverage and service

We filed a claim three times in the pass year of the policy and the Company tried to find any excuse not to cover the claims. The first two they stated it would not cover leakage. When we replaced the system because it was beyond repair, again the denied the claim. Before we could submit the information on the last claim, they had already responded with a denial on the claim.

Select Home Warranty Replacement of my double wall oven

In late February or early March SHW. Sent their repairman to check out my oven and concluded that it had to be replaced, it was not fixable. On March 20th. I received a letter stating SHW would only pay $185.00. I paid $3500.00 for this appliance. After reading the contract I see that SHW only pays up to $500.00. I called SHW in April and have yet to receive a response.

Select Home Warranty Services/ Warranty

I got a home warranty claim with Select Home Services in December 2022. On February 14th 2023 for the dryer at 415 East Bromley Street Tucson, Az 85704. I paid $65 on top on the annual fee of $400+ that I had just given Select Home Warranty. They sent a repair man to fix it, it almost dried an entire load ...but it didn't. So I paid the fee for the repair man to come and fix my dryer and my dryer is not fixed. I have been calling for weeks I just get told to hold on - and the hold becomes indefinite - Every time. I just wanted my dryer fixed - it is now been almost 2 months with no dryer- Thank goodness I have a home warranty.

Desired outcome: I would like my $65 dollars back . My dryer has never worked correctly I should not have to pay for my dryer not to get fixed.

Select Home Warranty Hot tub

I paid for a three-year warranty protection from Select Warranty upfront. I have been requesting a service call for my hot tub and the only thing I am told when I call in is that I can contact my own technician. I would like Select Warranty to find a technician to fix our hot tub (Kansas City is 90 miles away and there are places in Kansas City that fix hot tubs.

If you can't find a technician to fix the I would like it replaced. Please contact me at [protected].

Desired outcome: Hot tub fixed or replaced.

avoid like the plague!

Note: whenever you see a positive review, they are fake. There is one by some fellow called “Suresh” who has written five star reviews on a number of sites, a sure sign they try to cover a line of bad reviews with a few good ones.

As for us?

We - and even more so our guests, have dealt with the joys of having a broken heater/AC in the guest area of our home. The fact that three of our guests thus far have had the pleasure of experiencing it speaks volumes about the efficiency of the company we've entrusted our home warranty to. We reported the issue over four weeks ago, and they've shown an exceptional commitment to procrastination in addressing our claim. Every time we reach out to them, they assure us that a supervisor will call us the very next morning. We can only admire their consistency in either not returning the call, or having someone who barely speaks English avoiding to deal with our claim. Their customer service team takes the term "language barrier" to new heights, with English that is barely comprehensible. They claim they are in New Jersey - they are not, the accent is probably from the Philippines or thereabouts. Nothing wrong with that in principle, but the only training these people have had is to ask how they can help, and then making absolutely sure they avoid doing so. Stunningly useless. Our tireless efforts to get the heater replaced have been met with a level of productivity that would make a sloth proud. With two years into a five-year warranty and around $5000 invested in this “home warranty” company, we can't help but question the wisdom of staying with this company any longer. Switching to another home insurance provider seems more tempting by the day regardless of the financial hit we will take. They are utterly useless. The B- rating for this company must be a testament to their uncanny ability to be both disappointing in customer service and poor in value for money, but it does not reflect reality, which in our experience is way worse. My wife has developed a newfound hobby of calling them daily, only to be met with the sweet sound of unhelpful responses in barely intelligible English. Their latest magnanimous offer as of today is to cover the cost of the part only (we’ll get excited when this turns out to be real, at least), which we can all agree is the epitome of generosity. In light of our experience, we would wholeheartedly recommend thinking twice before signing up with this home warranty company. They must, hopefully, be at the bottom of their league. Whatever you do, go somewhere else!

Desired outcome: Repayment of our five year subscription - they are and have been useless.

Select Home Warranty Plumbing claim

I own a 5bdrm. house with 4 baths, one is located upstairs. So master bath toilette develop a problem, it is flushing by itself and making a weird noises when it is even full. Upstairs toilette broken and is not working at all so I turn it off. In February 2023 I file a claim with Select home warranty, they request me to pay 2 $65 copay and consider it as 2 claims in ONE, I say again ONE system!

After that they let me know that C&C Plumbing will come an perform repairs. 2 months past and no one came over to do any repairs?

Select Home Warranty Service plan

Sold a bill of goods when I purchased the plan in August 2022. Sales agent described the policy but discovered that items/service told would be covered, particularly a leaking faucet. Also, the replacement cost is inadequate. Received $75 to apply for the purchase of a new garbage disposal when they cost around $300. And, it takes forever to get the check - over 30 days. Now in dispute with Select over an issue with the heating unit. They claim the issue is "water condensation" when the issue may well be a possible crack in the exhaust pipes/tubes that go out through the roof that is leaking water into the heating unit. Their diagnosis is not based on an actual visit by a technician.

Desired outcome: The $75 check ASAP, and a visit by a technician to exam the heating unit and determine cause and offer a solution.

Select Home Warranty Poor reimbursement, even worse customer service

This company promised full reimbursement for unrepairable appliances. Instead, they only offered a small percentage that was only about 20% of the replacement cost, when my washer failed. When I tried to cancel the policy, I was told that only my wife could cancel it, since she signed us up for it. I explained that she is in the hospital with breathing problems and cannot talk for extended periods. This made no difference to these uncaring people. Do not do business with them!

Desired outcome: That they go out of business!, but I would settle for having the contract cancelled, and an apology.

Select Home Warranty Techs not showing up since October 2022

Select Home Warranty is a fraud company. I have opened 2 claims since October 2022. Most recent claim number [protected].

My policy is [protected].

I have paid for 6 years and have been calling Select for my microwave and kitchen vent (electrical issue) since last October.

My issue has been escalated to 2 different sups (1 gave me wrong extension so I can never get to him) and the other wasn't helpful at all.

I have spent countless hours (waste of time) as they make falls promises to send a tech. No tech has ever showed up... they are refusing to cancel my services and refund my money yet they have provided 0 services and have taken hours out of my time.

I am super upset and super frustrated. The sups that have promised to follow up have never followed through and every time I call now they refuse to take my call and their agents say they are busy...

I need a full refund and I will continue to report this as a scam if this isn't resolved.

Select Home Warranty Hot water heater

My daughter contacted them on Monday 3/13. Sent out a plumber and gave us a quote explaining he had to submit it. 2 days later select contacted us and said they would need more pictures and once this was submitted they would have another 48 hours. 72 hours later we get an email that the claim was denied because of rust and corrosion. Not one piece of rust was on the water heater. Got ahold of a senior account executive who reviewed the case and said the tech said it failed from normal wear and tear. I told them ok so let’s get the water heater replaced. They explained they would forward the new info again to the review board that it must have been an oversight. Never heard from them. My daughter has 3 small children. I called and talked to another agent explaining the situation and they said it could take up to another 72 hours. I finally got ahold of a plumber and had them replace the water heater. Finally got ahold of select and now they are saying that since I did this I would be 100% responsible for the replacement. I am getting ahold of a lawyer and pursuing action. This company is a complete sham. My daughter paid a year in advance and it has been nothing but a headache. I got the water heater replaced $400 cheaper then their person quoted us to begin with

Desired outcome: To be refunded the amount of the replacement cost. I am not asking for the $574 for 4 night hotel. This has gone on way to long with 3 small children in the house

Select Home Warranty refund of renewal cost

Initially agreed to renewal price of $490 offered by company salesperson. Several hours later was texted by different company salesperson offering same overage at price of $419. Called company and told them I wanted to cancel original contract if they would not accept reduction in price of $419. Person I spoke to put me on hold and then came back and told me I would get the renewal for the $419 price. Said it would be 48 hours to see the new reflected price. In 48 hours nothing changed. Called back company and was put on hold again and then transferred four times and finally wound up getting the original person in cancellations I started with. He told me there was nothing he could do, but his manager would be in four hours later and would get back to me. That never happened. Still waiting with no further communication from company.

Desired outcome: total refund of my $490 or $419 as originally promised for renewal price.

Select Home Warranty Well Pump

My well pump was recently replaced and I followed Select Home Warranty policy to submit my claim and invoice for payment. My claim is [protected]. The invoice I submitted was for $5,409.00 and they want to pay $400.00! This is absurd. What a bunch of scam artists. I understand my policy doesn't cover the new piping and tank ,however, a minimum payment of $2,500.00 is requested.

Select Home Warranty Customer service/product coverage

Two weeks ago the glass in our oven door shattered and made the oven unusable. I called Select and they told me a service tech would get back to me in 24-48 hours. Three days later came the e-mail that they could nnot find a tech and I should hire my own and get approval from Select for the repair. My tech got in touch with Select (after waiting an hour on the phone) and was told they would make a decision within 24 hours. Two days and three phone calls later I was told that the resolution would be in 24 hours. Imagine my suprise when my claim was rejected. Seems even though they cover all items necessary for the functionality of the range, they do not cover the door. I called them again and read the section 6.6 in my policy that explains the above and was told again it did not cover the door. I referred them to item 9.1.2 which mentioned not covering the door and that there was nothing in the contract that said anything about the interior glass. I repeated that I did not want a new door just a repair of the glass to allow the stove to be usable.The agent let me know that it was my responsibility to pay for the repair and that if I ever need anything else to give them a call. Run as fast as you can from this company. They have no concern for the customer and their customer service is atrocious.

Desired outcome: I want the glass in my oven door replaced. While I am certain nothing will be done about this please do yourself a favor. Don't choose Select!

Select Home Warranty Refrigerator

Fridge broke down a month ago. Select sent out Sears a week later..Technician ordered pieces in 4 separate packages. it took 2 weeks for 3 of the 4 packages to arrive so I cancelled the appt for Sears to come out twice. UPS said that Sears needs to locate the part. Select recommended that I keep the appt. with Sears. Techniciancame out and was unable to fix without the motor. Sears refuses to locate part. I have called Select more than 30 times. Told to call today for resolution. Resolution was that Sears would come out again without part and diagnose. Sears will not come out again w/o part and I don't have the part. No one will look for part or order another.Renting a frig for more than 3 weeks. This is not a proper competent resolution.

Desired outcome: Refrigerator fixed now or get me a replacement or give me my 1300 back with money spent for nothing.

Our refrigerator broke down a month ago. I called Select and it took a week and they sent out Sears Home Repair. They came out and ordered parts more than 3 weeks ago. They ordered the parts in 4 packages. 3 of the 4 took 2 weeks to get. The major piece the motor has not arrived. I notified UPS about 20 times and they say that Sears needs to call where the ordered the part. The technician from Sears came out and he said that he did not know where they ordered the part. He could not fix the frig. There is no way to call Sears. It is all by computer and they just ask you if you want the appt. or to reschedule. I have called Select at least 20 times to explain that Sears needs to locate this part or order if from somewhere else. We have been paying to rent a frig going on 4 weeks. Select said that they would resolved this. I called today and their resolution was that Sears would come back out on Monday without the part and do a diagnosis. I know and the technicians know the diagnosis. They need the motor to fix it. I have had it. They do not listen. They do not hold Sears accountable. Can I get my money back from the Warranty. I paid for 5 years. Stupid sucker me. I am willing to go to many sites and complain and to even go on TV. Neither Select nor Sears are accountable. The level of incompetence and lack of caring has been incredible. We cannot continue to rent a frig. I checked once again with UPS and all it says that a label has been created, the same thing for over 3 weeks.

What can I do? I am a Senior and am exhausted by this.

Select Home Warranty Frigidaire Dishwasher

My dishwasher only 5 years old with little use stopped working October 30, 2022. I filed claim with Select Home Warranty and paid $75.00 service fee to service man. He said had to order part for dishwasher. At Thanksgiving the dishwasher part had not arrived. I called Select Home Warranty, and they did not want to send anyone else out. After filing complaint, they responded and sent someone else on Jan 5, 2023. The company replaced several items on dishwasher, and it worked less that 30 days. I called and requested the company return since less that 30 days. They came out and said that it needed to be replaced. Select Home Warranty only wanted to give me $35.00 toward new dishwasher. I told them that since they were not going to cover my new dishwasher, I wanted my contract cancelled. Two days later I find they have charged my credit card $75.00 cancellation fee on my contract. I would never use this company again.

Desired outcome: Refund of $75.00 cancellation fee.

Select Home Warranty Not fixing items

I have submitted 4 claims since the last of September 2022 and they have sent repair technicians out. My dryer couldn't be repaired, so Select offered me $150.00. I refused the offer because the cheapest dryer I have found was $400.00. That doesn't included delivery and hooking up. My daughter has no electricity in her living room, or dining area. They sent two repair technicians out and select told him and they told me also, that since it happened within 3 months, they could only pay $150.00. So, my daughter still doesn't have electricity. Select has sent her letters saying they couldn't find anyone to fix it. Now her faucets for the bathtub are leaking and I filed a claim about that, and they haven't even sent anyone out. Within the last two months I filed a claim about the lights on my ceiling fan not working. The person told me they would have to replace the fan. Select hasn't addressed. that yet. My daughter and I have called them repeatedly and today they asked me if I could find someone to fix all the items and I told them even I knew someone, with me on a fixed income, I can't afford to hire them!

Desired outcome: I want a decent amount of money to buy a clothes dryer! I would rather them get one and install it. I want another ceiling fan installed. I want the faucets and electricity fixed!!!

Select Home Warranty Services and Cancellation

I been a member sense 2019. First time filing a claim was last year, 2022. Hot Water heater went out, it's NOT cover, had to buy a new one out of pocket. 2nd Furnace went out, NOT cover, had to buy a whole new unit, out of pocket.(2022) 3rd Kitchen exhaust fan stop working, NOT cover. Have to pay out of pocket for replacement. (02/01/2023) Select Home Warranty do not benefit me at ALL! Now they want to charge me a cancellation fee of $75.00. After being a loyal customer over the past few years. Not to mention how much money I paid into it over the years. And has NEVER benefit from it. I feel it's not right and good business practice, for this cancellation fee. General Smith

Select Home Warranty Will not respond to claim #[protected]

BBB has said that I did not respond in a timely manner & this matter is closed.

Select home Warranty is not responding to my email or phone calls to James Wilson customer service rep. He said he wanted more information; I sent him a complete diagnostic review of my heat system. This claim is now a month old and still not resolved. With Mr. james Wilson not responding, I did not know how much I could do to get this resolved with SHW.

Desired outcome: Replacement of my heat pump system, or reimbursement per the contract to install a new one. No service contractor was sent out to review from this company, and if i wanted there would be a service charge.

Select Home Warranty Heating system denial - false advertising

This is the WORST company. False advertising. The following was taken directly from their website. They state that "all modules and parts of your heating system that are necessary to its function are covered" but then list modules in their contract that are not covered (by their own admission, these modules are NECESSARY to its function) so they deny my claim because the heat exchange (again, a necessary module) is broken. I have not had heat in several weeks and they will not even allow for a 2nd opinion. They bait and switch. The broken heat exchange could release dangerous carbon monoxide into my home but they deny my claim. They are heartless. I requested a cancellation of my contract and they stated that they would charge me $75 for the cancellation fee that can only be waived when my contract is up. I cancelled immediately. Stay away from this company. All other home warranty companies cover these modules. Do your research and go with another company. I hope this breaks the back of these terrible liars.
