I submitted a claim on my a/c unit 4/23/24. MR Repair AC Inc was sent out to diagnose the problem. I believe they came out on 4/26/24. The fan motor had gone out on the air handler. The contractor submitted the claim to Select Home Warranty and they called me to tell me the claim had been denied. I got an email asking me for 3 years of maintenance records and pictures of the unit. I supplied everything I had going back to 2013. Then I received another email telling me that because I didn't have 3 consecutive years of maintenance that I would receive the maximum payout of $150! I had years 2022 and 2024 which I just had maintenance done in March 2024! I started looking through records and contacting previous A/C contractors I had used in the past. I found the 2023 record from Danna's AC Repair Services. They sent me a copy of the invoice and I immediately sent it to Select Home Warranty along with the paid invoice from MR Repair AC. I have called so many times and spoken with so many people, I don't remember. Every time I have called, I'm told they don't have the missing year 2023 or they have received the 2023 record and are reviewing it and I will hear from them in 12-48 hours. I'm promised that a manager will call me and then it doesn't happen. I've talked to 4 different people in claims and they all are liars! Nothing happens that they say will happen. It's a constant run around. I have supplied everything that is contractually required of me. I want to be reimbursed for the $800 I spent to fix my a/c. I have tried to find a number to call corporate and you can't find anyone to call on the executive team. They don't want you to find them. They don't want to honor their contract. They offered me $150 and I can' even get that! I want my contract honored and I want the $800! I have contacted my friend who is an attorney. I will go to small claims court if I have to. This is unacceptable!
Claimed loss: I paid MR Repair AC--who was the contractor Select Home Warranty sent out. I paid $800 for the repair.
Desired outcome: I want reimbursement of the $800

Since you've already tried resolving it through customer service and even considered legal action, your next step could be to formally send a demand letter to Select Home Warranty. This letter should outline the details of your claim, the documentation you've provided, and the compensation you're seeking. If this doesn’t work, pursuing the issue in small claims court, as you mentioned, seems like a solid plan. Make sure to keep all your records and communications organized for the court case. It might also help to share your experience on social media and consumer review platforms to bring more attention to your situation.
