Proceed with Caution: A Personal Reflection on Singles50
As I delve into the world of online dating for the over 50s, I can't help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension. The allure of finding companionship and love at this stage of life is undeniable. However, after exploring the reviews from fellow users, a sense of caution creeps in. Stories of false advertising, overcharging, and difficulties in cancellation paint a concerning picture. It's disheartening to hear about individuals feeling misled and taken advantage of in their quest for connection. While some have found success and happiness, the shadows of scams and unmet expectations loom large. As I navigate through the realm of Singles50, I do so with a mindful heart, aware of the pitfalls that may lie ahead. My journey begins with hope but tempered with a vigilant eye for red flags, ensuring that my pursuit of love is met with transparency and integrity.

Not claiming loss. Would only wish that my subscription is cancelled and additional costs be removed.
I have attempted to cancel my subscription after finding my partner (Mark McDonald) on Singles 50 - 2 weeks after joining in mid December 2023. I have had great difficulty in finding information to complete this action and my partner is also at a loss of how to achieve this. I subscribed for 1 month and I am being penalised for not renewing my subscription...

I’ve been a premium member of the singles50 date website from December 2022 that I've been trying to cancel my for about two months.
The website has not been allowing me to delete my account.
They sent me a email on the 4th of January saying that I’m having an outstanding payment.
I’ve written an answer to them in email on the 4th of January asking to delete my account. I’m attaching a photo of that photo.
I’ve been receiving emails constantly through the singles50 website from women
I don’t want to get them anymore due to I lost my job and I’m not able to pay for the service.
Please give me a desirable solution and help me to delete my account.
Sincerely

Unfortunately my experience on the Singles50 dating site was unsatisfactory so, I’ve decided to delete my profile.
The website always said that I’m not allowed to delete my premium membership. Then what happened was a big shock to me because the company has been asking me to pay 317.40 AUD. I can’t afford that much money due to I’ve lost my job that I have written to them in an email. I haven’t received any response yet.
Please help me with additional advice what else should I do to avoid this issue. Geza

cancelling membership during the cooling off period
I formally request the cancellation of my membership with www.single50.com.au dating site and a refund under the Membership Guarantee. Unfortunately, my experience on this site has been unsatisfactory, and I believe it is in my best interest to discontinue my subscription.
The prospects provided have not met my expectations, rendering the continuation of my membership pointless. According to single50 policy the ethical practices involved the cooling off period is 10 days.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and request that you process the cancellation and refund at your earliest convenience.

Hi,
The customer service disregarded the primary issue outlined in my complaint, which centered around my explicit request to terminate my membership within the 14-day cooling-off period, as stipulated by the European Consumers Centre (https://www.eccnederland.nl/en/news/high-charges-terminating-membership-dating-site). "According to the provided information, individuals joining a dating site are entitled to a 14-day cooling-off period during which they can cancel their membership without incurring any charges and without providing a reason. It explicitly states, 'You can meanwhile use the online dating services during this period. Can a dating site charge you for this if you decide to cancel the contract? The European Court of Justice explained.'"
I ceased accessing the dating site immediately after creating my profile, having no interest in any listed profiles or matches. I assert my right to cancel within the cooling-off period and request a full refund.
Their response was unsatisfactory.
My complaint is against www.single50.com.au dating site.
According to:
I have "the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days from the conclusion of the contract".
I request a full refund of $239.70, as I am cancelling within the cooling off period. My premium membership commenced on 3 January 2024.
I chose a monthly membership of $39 but the moment I entered my card details their system processed a debit of $239.70 for 6 months membership without my consent.

The info on the website states that you pay R74 for six months and yet I was charged R1776. I asked for a refund but there was no answer. There has not been a response to my email. If I knew I would not have signed up on this app. The economy of our country is not so good. I am struggling to make ends meet, so kindly return my money. I think we are being scammed here. I need my money back seriously.
Desired outcome: Please refund asap

SINGLES 50
I just discovered that someone used my card to pay R912. I want my money back as I have bills to settle and kids school fees plus rent. Please give me back my money. I am a married woman and I don't do such. I have reported this to my bank and I will open a police case against them. User name of the account is Nancy. Email [protected]@gmail.com. I don't know how they gained access to my email. I am so confused. I want this account to be cancelled and my money returned to me. Thank you.
Desired outcome: REFUND MY R912.

Renewing my membership after I deleted and unsubscribed from singles 50
After I had unsubscribed and deleted my account 5 days before it was to renew you still debited my card for a further 3 months of $239.40 Please refund these funds as soon as possible. I only purchased a 3 month subscription NOT an on going one.
How dare you take advantage of my card without permission or even telling me you we going to renew it for another 3 months
I'm still waiting a response to my email from your organization
My email is [protected]@gmail.com
You take advantage of lonely people and don't give them any rights
Very poor business acumen and ethics.

On 31/8/23. Charged me $239.70 instead of $9.97. Need urgent refund
I tried to join for the offered 20 % off price of $9.97 and instead you've taken $239.70 from my account without waiting for me to even confirm the payment before it was withdrawn.
I'm on a Disability Support Pension and the extra money you have taken unauthorised was food and medication for the next fortnight. These things I cannot survive without and paying the discounted price of $9.97 was me really doing something for myself and my future, never did I dream it would cause me so much stress, anxiety and suffering.
Please I'm begging you to return my money urgently.

Cancellation of Membership
Why is it so difficult to cancel membership?
I had to fill a form to cancel my subscription with a signature on it, however I do not understand how you would validate the signature because there was no signature required when joining.
In the settings, where does it say that there is a requirement of 14 days' notice? I have only seen this today when I did some searches and stumbled in this website,
Please refund my money as I do not wish to continue. Feel free to view my profile, I have deleted it as proof that I no longer wish to remain on your site.

Membership
Singles 50 advertised membership of the dating site for 6 months for a fee of around $9. (I can't remember the exact amount, thought it was an intro offer). They then took $239 out of my account, without me authorising that amount. I'm travelling and don't have that kind of money available. No response from customer services. Have asked my bank to look into it. Worried that they will charge me further amounts and have locked my card for time being.
Desired outcome: I want my money refunded asap.

Hi there
Today is Thursday 15 June and this is really my last resort. Never has it been so difficult to cancel a subscription and I do not appreciate the way Singles50 handles this request.
I have been trying really hard for the last 3 weeks to cancel my Subscription with Singles50 as i am now engaged and no longer require this service. I most certainly do not want to be charged another 3 month subscription, like i was when i signed up originally for what i thought was "1 month".
However cancelling my subscription seems to have been made one of the most difficult jobs IN THE WORLD by Singles50 as they have no clear process as to what to do.
Can someone please contact me as soon as possible to help me ensure my subscription has been cancelled.
I appreciate hearing from you via Email: [protected]@gmail.com with instructions as to what to do or confirmation that my subscription has been cancelled.
Kind Regards
Michelle Williams

Scam website
I cancelled my subscription more than a year ago and have just received a letter from a Swiss debt collector claiming that I owe €750 or they will begin legal proceedings. I attempted to contact this debt collector by phone and the only response is an automated message. I have received no communication from Singles50 since I cancelled my subscription until receiving spurious legal threats. I will be contacting the Irish Consumer Protection Agency in regards to the legalities of this website and its attempts to defraud clients.
Desired outcome: No further contact regarding legal threats

Dating site
I Matthew McMillan with email [protected]@yahoo.com signed up for a subscription with single50 dating site on 10/05/2023 with the understanding that it was going to cost $16 for 6 month subscription however when I went to go check my bank I noticed single50 had debited my account $345 so I just want my money back and have the subscription cancelled I have emailed them
Desired outcome: Subscription cancelled and money refunded

Online dating
I recently join the dating app and have lost $2700. An existing member of Singles 50 introduced me to the person who stole my money. The attached screenshots are clear evidence. Mishell (Singles50 member) wished me luck with the relationship. I recently pointed this out to Meshell but she did not reply. It’s possible that the profile is fake. This is a lot of money. I hope your site can devise ways to stop this happening to other people.
Desired outcome: For your website to work out ways to stop this happening. I would like my money returned. Seems unlikely though.

Unlawful debit order
Good Day
This company has now taken money from my account twice and there is no way to communicate with them. The site needs your bank details for you to really look and complete setup and then instead of the time to see if you want to join the site they take you money. Not just once but twice now. Please let me know what you need in order for this to be corrected with immediate effect. I cannot express how disappointed I am.
Kind Regards

Harassment for payment of renewal fees
I joined Singles50 on or around 18/3/2022.
I sent an email to the Singles50 site address on 12/3/2023, from a different email address (an.?@optusnet.com.au) to the one registered with them (84?@gmail.com) to cancel my subscription. I did not hear anything from my email, and they proceeded to renew my subscription by debiting my credit card. In their termination of membership form, they make no mention of having to cancel my subscription from my registered address with them, and to cancel my subscription should be done via fax or postal mail. Over the last two weeks, the company has continued to hound me and threaten me with starting a collection process against me.
I believe I cancelled my subscription appropriately and that I should not be liable to paying any subscription fees.
Desired outcome: To leave me alone and stop harassing me for payment, when I davised them that I had already cancelled my subscription the week before renewal.

Singles50.ie scam invoices
Hi,
I've subscribed for singles50.ie last year just for a month and now there are saying that I have to pay 203 euro.
I just signed up for a month and stopped using the website.
I was reading the terms and conditions and it's saying there that a written form has to be made to cancel the service. That's against the costumet rights in Europe. I already contact the body responsable for customer rights in Ireland and made a complaint against the website.
There are trying to take advantage of people and this website should be closed.

Impossible to cancel subscription
I have had the worst experience dealing with these people as they have now handed me over to Attorneys Themys&[censored] claiming that i owe me money as I did not not cancel my subscription. I sent them numerous emails last year requesting a cancellation as I only paid for one month's subscription as I met a Scammer on this site and a year later I have now been handed over to lawyers. When i joined I thought that this was a decent Site as I had to pay the one month's subscription but the first person I met was a Scammer and being a first time user I immediately requested to unsubscribe and assumed that i had paid for the one month and that would have sorted out my cancellation.
I am extremely disappointed and stressed at their behaviour. It really is just a big SCAM and please do not use this site. Unsubscribing is a NIGHTMARE. When i registered it said DatemyAge and I was under the impression it was appropriate and being from South Africa it was a South African site but clearly I was very naive and have had to learn a very hard lesson. Horrible people to deal with.
Desired outcome: That you withdraw the case with the lawyers as I do not have the funds to pay you. I am in a financial mess and am a Widow struggling to make ends meet.

Making it impossible to cancel my subscription
I signed up on the 20/11/2022 at an agreed rate of 29.99 Eur per month but now saw that they deducted 49.99 Eur on the 21 Dec 2022 without any notification that this increase would happen or asking me if I still wanted to renew it at an increased rate.
I sent an email to [protected]@singles50.ie on the 30/01/2023 to request the form for cancelling my subscription as it was not available under 'my profile' as it should be. They sent me an answer without the form providing a link where I should find it (the link did not lead me to the form).
I wrote again today to ask them to please attach the cancellation form. I got a standard email with the title [Ticket#[protected]] Have you forgotten your password?
This has nothing to do with my request.
I replied as follows (just now).
No this does not answer my query.
Please have a person read my original email (copied below) and send me
the cancellation form asap.
Dear Sir/Madam
Please send me a link to the correct page for cancelling my subscription
& having my profile deleted.
In the meantime I've read the very numerous complaints about this company and have taken the necessary steps wrt my credit card.
I will ask my CC company for a refund of the second unauthorised amount of 49.99 Eur.
Just sharing this for others to be forewarned.
