Checking savings account
My mother, an elderly, vulnerable adult, found her daughter who did not have POA was requesting information and utilizing my mother’s bank account. She called the bank manage, David, at the Valrico branch, 3511 Bell Shoals Road and reprimanded him and forged him or any Suntrust employee from allowing this to occur, she reiterated that her daughter was not authorized to use the account. Florida is a mandatory reporting state for “suspected” exploitation. My mother allow complained to the bank as same person was exploiting the funds from her account Still no SAR. Immediately after the second complaint, she wiped out my mom’s checking account. I complained this time and demanded an explanation. and Still, no SAR. A manager promised she would get to the bottom of this very serious issue, it took her a year then she claimed to have escalated it to corporate and that she would not be informed of the outcome, that is the biggest bunch of bs ever. Suntrust was based out of Atlanta until 12/2019, then merged with BB&t and finally Truist. This issue was dragged on since 2018 and now they have the balls to say Truist is governed out of North Carolina and do not have to comply with mandatory reporting. Also bs, as CFPB recommends this on their website. Something so shady is going on here. Since then, I’ve found a a ton of checks with forged signatures and even a few where the perpetrator signed her own name, unconscionable! Meanwhile, my mom suffered terrible due to the theft the last few years of her life and passed broken hearted realizing her daughter was a thief and her own bank didn’t protect her, not only that I had to put my career on hold and used my savings to care for her, that was contributing to a great amount of stress which I do believe exacerbated her heart condition and shortened her life.Basically, SunTrust, Truist is perpetuating fraud and elder abuse and exploitation. It’s a disgrace.
Desired outcome: Explanation and refund of at least some of the finances, they should be fined and required to train employees as they clearly have no protocols in place to protect seniors. It’s unreal, heartbreaking and criminal.

I recieived an inheritance check and opened up an account and since the very day I opened it I could not get my online banking to work and I called and called got put on hold or hung up on each time I waited a hour or more then got hung up on . I go to the bank they say they fixed it and they say I'm in just to have it lock up again on me and all of my money was in savings not checking . When I finally got in touch they said it would be discussed and I would get a refund on all of my overdraft fees where they went into my savings to get the money and they made me pay for having to trances and they made me pay atm charges when I couldn't get on line I had to pay no matter how they got it so I was suppose to get all those charges back yet I have no idea whom to speak with to get it fixed beccause online says go to the branch and the branch say go to the online im over this someone is gonna pay because it's a lot of money they are trying to keep ! I always had the money now why would you charge me to move my money if it your fault or incompetence ? Please help ! They also have about three different user names I was under idk!

Belle Meade Branch
I arrived at SunTrust in Belle Meade in Nashville Tennessee. I arrived at 1:20. I am 82 years old along with my 85 year old husband. After fighting traffic to get to our bank they were closed!
In all my years I have never known a back to just close for lunch which is what I was told today and at 1:20 why would I think that is lunch hour, how would I know when they are deciding to eat, this is unacceptable!

On March 21, 2022, I called customer service agan regarding getting the money from my closed account. Please note I have been getting the run around from SunTrust for over 6 months dealing with money that is rightfully mine. I was put on hold for 55 minutes at 9:15 a.m. That person transferred me to another department. After I was transferred to that department, I waited 15 minutes only to be a dropped call. I called back that department and got transferred to another department. I waited another 55 minutes only to be transferred to another department. I waited 20 minutes to get a team member. She tried to help me for 20 minutes by communicating to other departments. She ended holding so long for the other department to respond to her phone call she had to give me her spot in the que. Then I waited for an hour and half on hold and got no one. I finally hung up and will try back again tomorrow. All I had was a simple question, after I have sent in every piece of paper that your people have requested through out these very long 6 months, when was I going to get my check from your company regarding the funds from my closed account?
Desired outcome: My desired outcome from all of this harassment from your company and the go around, I would like to get my funds from my closed account and move forward with my life instead of being held hostage.
Online account opening and using
I have tried fot 2 days to open my checking account to no avail? I had to go to my former BB&T to get things some what straighten out so I could be assure of contacting the online account. When I finally open my account(3 tries?) I then couldn't get my account statements to display? Also 60 minute wait time to talk to customer service is a little offsetting! This merger or takeover on paper my have looked good by actuality and service it was a great mistake!
Desired outcome: I would appreciate ASAP response and know that this might be passed on to to the higher ups!
Report to Credit Bureau
12/24/2021 Using Bill Pay with my bank, First Citizens Bank, sent an electronic check, 1003, $66.60. It posted to my credit card account. First Citizens pulled it back due to a paper check of the same number (1003). I was unaware until I was notified me mail that an item was returned. After about a week of back and forth communications with both banks, FC explained about how the electronic check ended up with the same number as the paper check I had written previously.
In the meantime, SunTrust added a late payment fee of $20. I explained that the "late payment" was not my fault. That FC pulled it back and I knew nothing of it until weeks later. I was told to send $10 and the $20 would be refunded. That did not make sense to me and I told them so. I sent a paper check paying the balance on the account minus the $20 late fee.
The fee has been refunded and I paid all the interest of $1.59. Meanwhile, ST reported to the Credit Bureau and my score fell by 100 points. I called again, and spoke to Natasha. Previous communication was noted on my account. When I asked that the neg. report to the credit bureau be reversed, she said she filed a dispute. But also said that since it was not ST fault, it was reported against me.
SO since it's not ST's fault, I am being punished for something that is not my fault and they know it.
It's not FC fault either because it is a computer program set up to protect against fraud detecting duplicate check numbers.
I do not deserve a 100 point drop of my credit score. Please help!

I recently deposited a check from the Union company that I work for it is not the first time either that I deposited thru mobile app the money supposed to cover my automatic payments bills Only supposed to be one business day Its been a week already and by reaching out to suntrust after two days of not talking to anyone because I kept getting disconnected today I finally had reached someone just so that agent to treat me like dog crap not only didnt he help he didn’t give me his name when I ask he said that there was no management available for me to talk to and also that he couldn’t help me at all to stop the overdrafts that the bank keeps taking everyday plus to add to the bad news he tells me that they have a date for the 16th with is 6 days away to possibly cash check and even then they might not cash it What is going on Im getting charged overdrafts of 36 dollars every day already negative 400 in just this week alone in the last couple of months they have taken thousands of dollars from fees overdraft I’ve been struggling with work for a few months just been slow and I’m trying to survive but how when the bank takes all my money away I’m a single father with three girls how am I supposed to survive the rest of the month something needs to be dne this is unjust when its times like this that hard working people need help that the bank lends out a hand not take everything away I will be trying to make sure everyone knows how suntrust conducts business with working class people

SunTrust, nka Truist, does not have any policy or protocol in place to instruct, seriously, (banks didn't close, FFS) , hoping I'd drop it. At that point, my mother had enough of my sibling’s abuse and moved in with me. It was reported several times since 2019. It would seem all banks operating in Florida would know to have these policies and training in place, so employees can detect exploitation. But my mother, herself the vulnerable adult, reported it to the bank and they didn't report to Florida Deparment of Children and Families as they are required to. Florida mandates that banks report suspicion of elder abuse. This wasn't suspicion, this was actual criminal abuse. I would warn anyone not to bank here, they don't protect their customers. We both notified SunTrust employees that her daughter was not to be given information on, or access to, my mother’s account, in which SunTrust failed to notify authorities or stop it.
Florida's Adult Protective Services Act requires any bank "who knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect, that a vulnerable adult has been or is being exploited, "to report such exploitation to the Florida Département of Children and Families.
Finally got a call from someone today, 2/9/2022, not sure of his title, almost 3 years after multiple reports and he says it's civil.I don't know what the state will say about it, since their stance is banks are mandatory reporters of suspicious activity, this wasn't suspicious, my mother and I, her attorney in fact, reported the exploitation.
Had SunTrust employees reported to Florida Department of Children and Families, as mandated, these other crimes could have come to light sooner and less damage would have been done. I am now forced to hire an attorney at my expense, hopefully, since they didn't do what is required by law, they will have to reimburse the expenses. Scary times and when a bank isn't protecting vulnerable customers, I would not recommend doing business with Suntrust now known as Truist
Desired outcome: Refund stolen funds, at least the amounts taken after complaints, since I was told to hire an attorney by suntrust, if I must they can pay the legal fees.
Account restricted
We have a vacation home in Orlando, we are from and live in the UK, after trying to make a transfer using Zelle our checking and savings account with Suntrust have been restricted, we now have no access to our accounts to pay our bills such and Polk County/Duke Energy and so forth.
We have spent 5 hours on the phone to customer service today being passed around advisors, only to be told that they need to text us a code to our cell phone to verify our identity, but as we are in the UK they cannot send us a code and there is nothing they/she can do to assist us. They/she will or cannot find another way to verify our identity so we are at an impass. To top that off when we tried to make suggestions to help us get these accounts unblocked the advisor put the phone down on us. We cannot be the only British people with an USA suntrust account, with no USA cell phone. We have bills to pay, surely they cannot refuse to unblock these accounts just because we do not have a cell phone. We are in total disbelief that a bank can hold on to our funds without trying to find a resolution. We have done nothing wrong.
Desired outcome: I want our accounts unblocked and access to our funds, I would appreciate a swift response, before we have to take legal action against the bank.

Debit card replacement
First call was placed at 1:46 p.m.at which time I was transferred over and stayed on hold for 1 hour and 12 mins. The first gentlemen that answered before transferring was very nice. Holding for over an hour - I was hung up on.
Second call - placed at 2:59 p.m. and on hold for 23 mins. again was hung up on.
Third call - placed at 3.23 p.m. and held on phone for 35 mins. was once again hung up on.
All I needed was to ask for them to replace my debit card.
It is now Friday and past 3:30 p.m. and will have to wait til’ Monday to speak with a live person. This is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had. Suntrust being replaced by Truist has me thinking I need to switch banks after being with Suntrust for over 20 yrs.
Desired outcome: I want my debit card replaced.

Wow, after 3 times sending in my insurance information to the excrow department one would think my records would be updated. I opened my statement today and you are charging me for duplicate insurance from American Security Group. Good luck trying to talk to a person, just an endless loop of prompts. I did receive some vague prompise about about being contracted when I had a chat session. Is the Escrow department stuck on stupid? What crappy customer service you have. Can you PLEASE sell my mortgage to another company that can get it right!

Suntrust bank is not customer service oriented. I have a mortgage with them. Out rate went up because the insurance went up by $17.92. We failed to pay the $17.92 amount so Suntrust held the amount we paid in a escrow account. They did not contact us. Our account went past the 30 day mark and we found out because we received a credit report. My credit rating dropped 152 points. I called them and filed a dispute. They declined and said we were late. Our local Suntrust representative did not think that was right and filed another dispute, which was declined also. No customer service here at all !

I refinanced my loan with Suntrust to another bank. They kept my escrow account hostage for 2 months, which was well over $3k, then they sent me UNDERPAYMENT of what I was owed. SO now I sit here calling every day, just to get back MY MONEY. They owe me about $200.00 in interest for holding onto my money. That is what they would have charged me in late fees!

I have had basic payroll services with Suntrust for 15 years, and been paying $50/month for this "service" which has been dormant for a few years. For the last TWO MONTHS, I have been trying to reach Suntrust "Customer no-service" and it is IMPOSSIBLE to contact anyone by phone or messaging regarding their payroll services. Consequently, they have screwed up my taxes for 2021, and now going into 2022 (which I am inclined to sue them for, and for return of my payments for their totally ignoring customers' needs and their obligations). I have called at least five times in the lasts couple of months, with interminable holds, getting cut-off during holds, no call-backs. For example, just today (Jan 20, 2pm), I call trying to get help with my payroll "service" yet again, the message system immediately comes on and says "extended wait times of over 45 minutes" (which is what it has said every time I've called). So, I leave a callback number, and after approx 1 hour I get an AUTOMATED callback, that puts me RIGHT BACK ON HOLD ON THE SAME SYSTEM, for another 45 minutes (replete with the most annoying phone muzac ever composed, obviously intended to annoy people to hang up), finally the phone rings, and it GOES TO SOMEONE'S PHONEMAIL (no number or name given of course), I leave a message, and of course no call back. This is similar to the experience I have had every time trying to contact them. So basically, they are holding my payroll hostage with their incompetence, inability, and cheapness to provide proper support--they are IMPOSSIBLE to contact. Oh, and their "chat" sessions are no better, no one EVER responds on the chats either, I will be closing my business account, payroll and credit-card this coming Monday and requesting a refund for three months of their payroll "service".
Awful, terrible service.
I'm generally a patient person, but they have wasted HOURS AND HOURS of my time on multiple attempts to contact anyone at Suntrust Payroll, absolutely the worst customer service I've encountered in memory.
Desired outcome: refund of payroll fees, warn customers to not use Suntrust Payroll, close ALL suntrust accounts and credit cards
