commercialized nonsense!!!
Everyone MUST READ THIS POSTING! ...It is the absolute truth, A year into their program I realized it was ###-(no academic support.. no wonder they never advertise their completion rates!) I refuse to pay them anymore money!...I'm was so disgusted, that I didn't care it appeared on my credit report..you know why?...I am now able to afford the costs of repairing my credit since I was actually able to FINISH my coursework in a focused, guided, time specific, legitimate RN program..if I could teach myself, why do I need TCN.
scam and fraudulent
Buyer Beware!
The recruiter is smooth talker. They will meet you in a pubic place or your house promising you LVN-RN BSN program in 18-24 mos. Which is not true, they leave out it depends on where you are with prerequisites. The program is actually 4-5 years and depending on how dedicated and studious you are. Plus you are paying a publishing house to test out of classes and then apply to Indiana State University. Which may or may not accept you. Only to find yourself paying a hefty amount of money for a publishing house that promises you a degree. The College Network, completely represents themselves as a school when in fact they are not. Then if you start questioning them they refer to Indiana State. Indiana will not take part unless already a student with Indiana. How could the boards of nursing ever approve this program. College Network has you sign contract, they don't all tell you about the 3 day cancellation time frame. Then you are locked into a publishing house for testing out classes. Not actual school. Think twice before signing on the dotted line. I hate to see anyone else be defrauded.

My daughter signed with them today - researched it out when we got home cause we thought he was with Excelsior. They are not associated with Excelsior & we have called to cancel the contract & have the opt out page that we are sending via UPS next day air with signature required upon recipt...plus she has already called the sales rep with The College Network to tell him she's opting out...so we'll see how this goes. I will be in contact with the Sate Attorney General on Monday to let them know that we have opted out in a timely fashion (we have till the 5-11-11) & we'll see if we get the contract canceled as promised & as contracted.
Thank you for posting your experience, it was a help in making our decision. Metairie, LA
no degree, paying for nothing
In the year 2007, I had enrolled in their so called wonderful program. They told me they were working with the company I work for to have them pay for tuition. I received the so called modules. Open them up and started to work on the first one. Not understanding some. I called the number and emailed to get some assistance. To this day still have not received any help. Here I am paying 20, 000 for modules that sit still wrapped in plastic except for one. What can I do, obviously this program is not working. I think they should offer the money back to all of use students but good luck with that.

I am currently having my checks garnished, so if you have any idea how to get out of this, please let me know. I fell on hard times and was unable to pay. Now that legal actions are against me they state there is nothing to be done until the fees has been paid in full.

rip-off
I have been a LVN since September 2008. Shortly after graduating, I went to work with a hospital that was doing a bridge program with a local college. I was informed that the credits for the prerequisites were accepted through TCN. After thinking about it, I, too, called to cancel the courses and not long after this, I moved. I then was contacted about a pkg that was left at my last address. It was 7 modules. I immediately called and asked if I cancelled the program, why did i get these modules. I was informed that there was no docutmentation that I called and that NOW, it had been to long to do anything. After a heated discussion, I hung up my phone. Frustrated and mad, I decided I was not going to pay to be treated this way. I was contacted to make payments up to 3 times a week. I finally was able to stop these with a change to my phone number. I soon forgot all about this problem. Then a yr later, my EX husband called me at work and said that someone had contacted him in r/t MY LVN licensure. I then called the number and it was a collection agency that stated that I have 3 days to pay the balance owed, or my licensure be revoked. I contacted the Cheif Clinical Officer at the hospital and he laughed it off stating that it was not anything I should worry about. I contacted the BON and was informed that they can not take my LVN status from me. I was comforted by this and decided to continue to not pay them. Recently I was contacted 2 times in a weeks' period. I was informed that they were hired by the financial institution (but failed to inform me who or what company I owed). I politely asked them not to contact me at work and refused to give home information as I worked 8-5 and unable to address the matter. I then sent a cease and desist letter and requested loan information to the institution that i owe. I did get a response, but it was a rude one. I was given a letter that highlighted the area that stated that I had 3 days to terminate and that I would be liable for the balance. I was told that The Law office of LMM was going to send a request that my license taken due to non payment of a student loan. I was outraged! And worried at the same time. I am scared but I know that I will not give up with out a fight. I contacted the BON again and was told that they can NOT take my LVN but they can petition that it not be renewed and advised to do whatever is necessary to avoid this. I feel cheated and angry! Cheated out of an education that apparently was not worthy of my time or effort. I would love to say that it was resolved without conflict, but I see that is not happening. I have contacted the BBB. I hope others will too.
I feel they just want my money for an online degree that does not even mean that much
I enrolled in classes at this school to study nursing. They signed me up for classes and we arranged the whole thing. I took a few classes with the school. Then, I get a bill saying that my payments went up. They added an extra class that has nothing to do with nursing. They said I needed the extra class to get my degree. When, I said that I only wanted to pay for the classes I had signed up for and agreed to, they told me that I had to pay for the full program. This school is not about getting a degree I feel they just want my money for an online degree that does not even mean that much. I also found it cheaper at other places.
contract
tried to cancel contract never took a class or got abook. lost my job and cant pay for iot anyway. was told it was a life long thing and had to pay 10, 000 dollars. every month they take 170.00 from my cheaking account and its not in there. how the hell do i get out of this mess! fch
I got a visit from The College Network that I solicited having saw an add on Facebook and being interested in the on-line RN program. Thank God I found the complaints on-line! The representative came across like TCN is part of my degree, never letting on that they are an option at the cost of about $4, 500. I can see how the materials and conversation is vaguely and not so vaguely worded leaving one to their own conclusions and allowing one to be manipulated in anyway the representative chooses. It reminds me of an experience with Amway and it is not right. I believed the $4, 500 was part of getting my on-line degree because that *is* the way it was presented. This should not be legal. I never signed the bottom line, thank goodness. This complaint is no less heartfelt; what a sick scam. Anyone wanting my help to end this scam contact me at terrimpro@yahoo.com. This needs to end!
lying, scamming
Signed into this in 2006 to study LVN to RN. Paid for a year or so (can't remember exact amount of time). Became ill and had to have surgery. Am no longer able to work as a nurse so RN is not something I wish to pursue. Also realized it is another of those scams so decided to ignore it. Have not paid since 2007. Just recieved a call from someone claiming to be from the "Dept. of Justice" and that a subpeona is being sent out this Monday (today is Friday). Caller ID says out of area. After speaking to the guy who says the attorney working my case is working late and will call me in 30 minutes, I'm questioning the validity of this call being from who they say they are. I'm thinking the Dept of Justice would show their ID on a call, not block it. Gonna ask for a number and will post here, who shall I report this to? P.O me off that they can just claim to be someone they are not. I'm not paying for this, I'm not using it, have a huge box of worthless books they can have back if they want them. I looked through a couple of them. They didn't even begin to make sense to me. Any suggestions?

screwed me up
I made it clear throughout my meeting with the rep who wrote my contract that I DID NOT want a Bachelor's, only an AS and he wrote it for the BS anyways. I should have read it more carefully, but I cancelled less than an hour later to be rewritten for the AS when I came back from Ohio as I was leaving that night. He assured me he would hold it but LIED. I'm being harassed for payment of a BS I don't want and they won't cancel. My phone calls are proof I cancelled.

false information
I believe trully that the TCN is a big scam. I graduated from nursing school in 11/5/08 and because I was so interested in furthering my career to get my RN BSN that I was actually excited about the program. When the advisor came to speak to my cousin and I, he painted the pretty picture. He explained to us what classes we needed to complete and what needed to be done and how much it would cost us through TCN and then the cost through Indiana University. He never explained to us that we need to find a site and a proctor, that the modules were completly different from the test and that there is a 300.00 fee for each time you take the exam. I called to cancel for them to tell me that we only have 3 days to cancel. I have nevered used anything from them, except some of there questions to review for my state broads that was free, but it is so unfair how they are messing indiviuals credit up and and taken theirmoney.
They knew exactly what they were doing with having to cancel a contract within 3 days, that doesn't give anyone a chance to really go through the papers and everything. On top of them telling me that there isn't anything that they can do for me and I'm not even using the program.

Totally agree!
I am a LPN and also had a rep come to house over a year ago and I have been study off and on throughout this time. And due to family emergencies such as my father had a severe stroke and became a quadraplegic and non-verbal at the age of 62, I put my schooling on hold. My loan was suppost to be paid off by now but money is still automatically being taken out of my checking account. This shouldn't be happening-when I contacted TCN they told me they no longer have the loan the SOLD it to another lending company. What! And recently my husband and I are looking to buy a home. When my credit was checked it showed that TCN is on there stating I haven't paid them. What the hell! So I will be contacting the Attorney General of the State of MN. And they can look into this fraud of a company who is taking money from nurses who are wanting to excel in their career. But what TCN is doing is steeling from woman/men who work damn hard for their money! This is a crime and they are going to pay for the crime that they are commiting out there every second of the day throughout the state of MN. If anyone else would like to stand next to me in the state of MN in contacting the Attorney General please let me know. This has to come to stop! Every single rep that has come to our homes should also pay for the crime that they have commited!
useless education modules
I signed a purchase agreement to get educational material to do the Lpn to Rn mobility on October 16th 2009, studied for hours took the Anatomy and Phsysiology exam paid 345.00 and did not pass. The material I studied did not even come close to what was given to me on the exam that took 3 hours. Now I am required to pay another 345.00 to take it again. Why should I stdy the same material again, that will not even help me pass. I was told by the smooth talking salesman that it would take about 16 weeks to study for A and P, Excelsior College rep. told me it would take a good year. what is going on here. I am not going to pay anymore on this loan that I am not getting anything for. What do I do now, I do not want a mark against my credit. JoAnne Luke 7659 St Croix Trail North branch minnesota 55056

Has anyone been able to stop an increase I signed up for 4 classes a cost of $ 2930 this was all I supposedly need before enrolling in the Excelsior program. Today I received a letter stating "based on the enclosed course analysis, the number of Comprehensive Learning Modules you will need to complete your degree program has increased by 10, " at an increased cost of $5655. My question am I liable for that increase if I do not sign and return the acknowledge and accept form, or just what my contract reflects I agreed to. Please help I can not afford this ridiculous increase.
Please respond if anyone has been successful in exiting this program .

I would most definitely not sign a contract with them, BUT I completely disagree about their modules being useless. I studied for and took Anatomy and Physiology using ONLY the TCN Module, and scored a B on my first try. I Probably studied a total of 12 weeks. If you read Excelsior College's Study Guide for A & P, it does not advise that it would take a year of study to complete. By-the-way, The TCN study guide I used was, at the time, the previous edition.
scam alert
In May of 2008 I allowed an "advisor" from The College Network to come into my home and give me his spill on all the great advantages of obtaining my RN license online from TCN. I should have been smart and done my research on this company. I must say, they employ some GREAT SALESMEN. This man had me convinced that this was right up my alley as I have always been an independent studier. After a couple of months I realized what a mess I had gotten myself into. I have only received one module. It has been three years and i have not used any more of their study materials or online modules. This company has recieved thousands of my dollars for NOTHING! I have been forced to close my bank account to stop the automatic monthly drafts and in doing so have ruined my credit. This company is a FRAUD! They prey on hard working people and make promises they know full well they can't fulfill. I am disgusted that they are still in business. I too would love to be a part of a class action lawsuit to put these scammers out of business for good!
i also was scammed and they continue to harass me now they say I owe them 8, 000 dollars from under 2 grand originally and I sent all material back I'm sick over this and they want to put a judge against me

money not refunded
I signed up 15 months ago and have been satisfied so far-have taken and passed 4 exams with TCN material. My complaint is twofold-both having to do with money.
First, TCN has been paid in full for my materials and tests. I got my University to give me credit for a course that TCN didn't think I'd get, so they agree they owe me a refund of $730. I have been trying to get the money since January. In April they fianlly sent me a document in writing agreeing that they owe me, and still no money-it is now June. Worse yet when I tried to call them at 6:23 pm EST they had a recording that said I had reached them outside of normal business hours, which supposedly are 8am to 9 pm EST Mon-Thurs-today is a Tuesday, 6:23pm EST. So where are they?
Second, I referred a coworker to them. She signed up and has taken two courses and tests. They are supposed to be paying me a $200 referral fee, which takes 90 days from when the person signed up(they don't tell you that up front). The 90 days was up May 8th, I was promised to have the money by May 28th, and guess what? Watch out for this scam!

Thinking back i cancled it over 7 years ago.Never Logged in havent even seen the website. after checking the bank statment i cancelled it only days after the first check was deposited and stopped payment. now i cant get a refund or they want give this Credit union thier money back for something i didnt even use. any body have a soulation to this!
College Network has turned my life and finances upside down. I signed up with them over three years ago, NEVER used any of their services, returned all products. College Network sold my contract to a collection agancy that is now sueing me to get their money back. College Network is a total scam, they have no refund policy and if you dont cancel in three days you owe them 10, 000.00. I wish we could all get a class action law suit against these criminals. Where are the ethic's? buyer beware some how some where someone has got to get these guy's, they are stealing money from people because they can.
hey you said your only complaint is that you have not gotten your refund yet? how about their modules? you said that you have taken their test? have you finished with the program yet? i am told that i can't get a refund and its only been 10 days. i've been reading all these bad reviews and am getting scared that i'm trapped. my counselor already told me that i'm passed my cancelation date and that i need to pay anyways. please i just need to know that this program has worked for someone and that i'm not being taken!
fraud, liars
im just finding out that this is a scam.i called them the other day to withdraw from the courses but little did i know that u cant.well u can stop doing them but u still have to pay back the loan. i was never told by the piece of crap that signed me up that i couldn't get my money back if something happened and i couldn't finish the courses. also thought that this was a school i had no idea college network was a publishing company until today when i read these complaints.i have been enrolled for almost a year now and haven't even taken the first test all i want is to be refunded for the classes i never even started i dont even mind paying for the one that ive tried to study for but when i called they said that i have access to all the courses so they won't refund me for the other classes. is there any kind of lawsuit against these people or has anyone ever gotten out of this bs contract if so please let me know. NEVER ENROLL IN COLLEGE NETWORK THEY ARE NOT WHAT THEY APPEAR TO BE. BEWARE !

refunds
The College Network Reps definitely need to know the rules and regulations of TNC. My wife was told that she could get out of her classes if she decided to take her first class and she couldn't do it. The rep said it would be "no problem". Well, she decided that she would feel more comfortable in an actual classroom setting so we called to cancel. "Well...

People who has enrolled in this college should be refunded. The State of Indiana should recognize this as a scam and act on it. Where do the people enrolled in RN find a hospital with the insurance to cover their clinicals, because they are not a ligit college? Three different colleges has came up on my search: College Network [protected]-University of Phoenix, Excelsoir College N.Y., TCN-Tennessee Center for Nursing [protected].
I wish to recieve a letter from this college stating a refund. The State has it's hands full by busting this scam up!

no degree
The College Network has charged my credit card for a program I never even utilized. I was unable to stop the monthly charges and ended up paying thousands of dollars over the past 5 years. When I tried to cancel the program 3 years ago the representative offered no resolution. I was also shipped several books that look like downloaded copies of pages from Wikepedia. This ad continues to run in some nursing journals. Why? I would like to talk to one person who completed the course and was actually awarded a BSN. My credit is now ruined and even though I've nearly paid off the credit card the course was charged to, the effect of the financial devastion linger with me to this date. Now that I see others with the same complaint I really feel duped.

I've signed up with the college network and I'm using it. I've passed 2 exams so far and the college network has been really helpful. I know plenty of people who have obtained nursing degrees with the networks help. Maybe if you had used the materials and taken the exams you would have gotten the degree. you signed a promissory note...if you were unsure about being able to actually do the work you had to do to get the degree, you shouldn't have signed the note...
false pretenses
The College Network scammed several of us into thinking that we were signing up for a distance education program for nursing school. After a lack of description of what we were signing up for, we found out that all we paid for over $5000 were books that were supposed to allow students to challenges college credits with testings. They never sent us the books, we were unable to get into the Indiana University as promised, and now we are stuck paying a monthly fee for 5 years for NOTHING. This has happened to dozens of people that we know in the same nursing field. The recruiter explained the program to us under false pretenses, only to find out that he was not a college recruiter but just a BOOK SALESMAN. We figured they should at least send us the books since we ARE paying for it but they explained that we cannot even obtain books unless we pass each test (tests that they are not even affiliated with!) So we do not even have any BOOKS! hundreds of dollars for absolutely NOTHING! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE COLLEGE NETWORK!

Tell your story on facebook at LPN COLLEGE NETWORK SCAM
THESE CREEPS HAVE GOT TO STOP RIPPING LPN'S OFF OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY...
they are con artists and frauds
You are right about the fast talking salesman, and lies, and rude and ruthless customer assistance. I signed up with The College Network in March. They came to my home and did a pretty good job of explaining everything. The salesman told me that even though I signed up for the bsn program; I could change to the adn at any time. Ok that sounded great. I knew about the 3 day cancellation.
I got a letter from the College Network a little while later stating that my gpa was not high enough to get into Indiana and that I would have to pay more money for another course, and I would have to enroll in Indiana and take this prereq and this prereq and I think fitness or something in order to get the gpa to get in the nursing program. Shouldn't that have been determined before the started making me pay 9000?
So, I didn't want to jump through the former hoops to get into Indiana nursing program and I called the College Network to switch to the adn program. I inquired as to when the excess amount would be removed from my loan amount, and was swiftly and rudely informed that it would not. Of course I protested, but like many others, I was informed that no matter what I had to pay. They did say that they would credit me for future classes, but I refuse to do anything further with the Company.
Now, This is for Rick! The College Network Rep.
Before you get in touch with me and tell me that I am wrong. I do not wish to hear your ###, generic response. No matter what you say or how you say it. This is wrong. It is ok to step down to a lesser program that costs about 3000 less but it is not ok to refund said 3000. I HAVE MET CRIMINALS WITH BETTER INTEGRITY THAN YOUR COMPANY!
Just in case you can't find me in your Database, My name is Danetta Kerns. I am curious as to what ### you can come up with because I have never been late on these ridiculous payment.
Oh yeah and you are going to hell for using a Christian Credit union to rip people off. I called them today and asked how it is possible that after a loan has been issued that you could add more to the balance. She said that she didn't know unless it was in the contract. I am sure it is slithering around in there somewhere, but I did inform the bank rep of your unscrupulous practices.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Well said Danetta Kerns! i agree with your complaint 100%!

This program is nothing but a big scam with alot of fradulent promises i caanot believe they are still in business does anyone out there know what to do about this company, very frustrating to have to pay for something i did not use. they send my account to collections damaging my credit and on trying to call for customer service you can hardly ever get a hold of anyone. during signing up they promised a tutor which they are not able to provide, we work hard for our money and for the tune of 5, 200 the service should be satisfactory.

I filed a complaint with Indiana attorney generals office. You can do it online. Just google the info. I am awaiting a response at this time.
Ok you all, listen to this!
I just called and tried to speak with Barbara Wiggins. I was told I could not speak to her because my account is in collections and that I would have to speak to them first bafore her. Hiding behind the collections department; that's a good M.O. I'd of never thought of that. So Rick, where have you been buddy. Havn't heard from you in awhile. Where did you go. Can't smell your BS anymore, so where ever you are it must be far, far away. I think you may be the first person in history with a B.S. in BS. Assuming of course, you even exsist in the first place. Some of those responses of yours seem vague, maybe even programed. So, if you do exsist please look up my file. My name is Brian Peter Grey, get my phone number and feel free to call me and respond to this posting. Or if you like, continue to hide your true self here, just like Barbara hides behind the collections department.
All my best
Brian aka "one ripped off, pissed off", well you get the idea
scam and fraud
I am an LPN and a rep came to my house of course talking up TCN, she came july 8 and that was a thursday...I called on the 16th to cancel, i had worked the previous 4 days midnights 12 hr shifts so i didnt get a change prior, well they told me I could not cancel and i owe them 10000! They werent even cashign my first 100 check until the 18th so i stopped payment on the 2nd check, they will not see another penny from me! They are nothing but a scam, scamming nurses and anyone else who goes there, There program is all lies! And i was also told id be able to defer my othe 800 in student loans a month which was a reason i did sign up well siine they are NOT an actual college I cant defer anything! And the advisor name Honesty (Ironically) Bodiford told me i would be able to do that! I called her about it and she completely denied it of course, she said she has worked for this ### hole for 7 years! no wonder she had some big rockss on her hands shes been helping scam all these innocent people in a terrible econmy! How do people live with them selves. This program needs to be shut down, maybe with enough of us there is somethign we can do!

I'm in the Excelsior program. I love it. TCN has been honest with me. The material is good. I've passed every exam. No one has mislead me. And I don't mind paying for TCN, because I used the service correctly. You all have very poor attitudes. If you did your homework, you would understand what you signed up for. I hear a lot of complaints b/c people sign up and then change their minds and want their money back. Of course you're not gonna get it back...you signed a promissory note.
I'm doing it and I'll tell ya, if I fail at a class or something bad happens to me and I can't keep going, I'm not going to blame TCN. That's petty. Be self-responsible and stop whining.
I personally know people who have signed up with TCN and then enrolled at Excelsior and who are now working ADN and BSN nurses. And they didn't have any complaints either.
I have also signed up for this so called program. LPN to RN. I do not feel that I am going to receive what I was promised. I also was LATER informed when I called College Network that I had to pay another 1950 dollars for the clinicals that are somewhere else and that I had to sign up with Excelsior College and pay whatever they wanted and that they would do some kind of financing. I was not informed of these last two bits of information by the guy who came to my house. GORDON PEARSON. He told me when I asked him that the clinicals might be 375 dollars but in the first place he never said it would be an extra cost and about excelsior, he said it was included in my loan and that they, THE COLLEGE NETWORK, would take care of signing me up with Excelsior. Of course, this was the wrong information. I am thoroughly upset with the company as well. They did tell me they were a publishing company only, but GORDON told me if I needed any help, to please contact him and he would help him. I am going to do just this, but I am sure that it won't do any good.
LPN from Illinois
To all North Carolina nurses caught up in this fraud:
send your complaint to bpgrey@hotmail.com Let's see if we can put something together to let other nurses throughout the state know what this is really all about
Brian LPN
I also was told that that TCN was affiliated with Excelsior and that by using their program was the first step was told no waiting periods for testing or clinicals everything was at my own pace. Was told the price for the study modules was 2500 but I have been paying on my loan for 21/2 yrs every month and I still owe 1900.I too feel I have been mislead and TCN is fraudelent but I am not sure how to file a civil action if anyone has started I would be interested in joining them also I can be contacted at smsellers007@aol.com

hi. my name is carolyn and i live in URBANA, IL. the college network has been calling me because i am looking for a college that excepts LPN and i am looking for a online RN program. i have discussed these reviews with the college and they said people don't read what they sign. i responded with "this frightens me after reading these reviews. they also said they are aware of these reviews. has anyone had good luck with this college? is there a online college that is trustworthy, honest where i can get my RN? Any information would be appreciated. thank you.
I don't think they can take anything U own now but...UR credit will be affected! So u wont be able to open new credit lines, buy a new car or refinance your home if ever the need is there I don't think its worth stop paying complete the program!
hi, i am disgusted too. i am thinking about having my payments cancelled and i have a few ? on what might happen since i have never done this before. i am planning on going back to an actual college. okay, how hard is it to rebuild your credit and will that affect my husband's credit also? and, if i cancel will the credit union take away my possessions that are in my name? such as vehicles, home, etc? i sure cant let that happen so i thought i would ask someone who has been through it. thank you
