Again, UPS has blundered another delivery. I placed and order and paid for UPS 2nd Day Air. Package was sent on 03.04.09. I received three (yes 3) phone calls from UPS's automated system telling me I had to be home on 03.06.09 to sign for the package since it required a signature. The hours I needed to be home? 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Yes an 11 hour window of waiting for a package. Now I typically know when the UPS driver comes by my house. I had made plans to be home that part of the morning to get the package. If I miss them they claim they will make two more delivery attempts or (as I usually do) I pick the package up at the UPS hub that in only 2 miles away. So after I see the UPS driver go past my house, I get online to track the package. The delivery date has been rescheduled to 03.09.09. Now mind you the third and final call I got yesterday was around 6:00 pm at night telling me to expect the package. So, I call UPS and I am told it was 'delayed' really? I had no idea. But it would delivered on 3/9. So I say well I took the day off today since you called me three times yesterday to get the package and now what I am suppose to do since I won't be home on Monday to get it. The UPS CSR assured me they would make three attempts to deliver it. I said, but I won't be home to sign for it. Then he said, they can deliver it to another address like my office. But my home is my office and I am in my car all day long. So what would you like me to do? Well you can pick it up during normal business hours by calling us and letting us know you want to pick up the package. But why should I after taking a day off of work now have to drive to the UPS place to pick my package that I wouldn't be able to pick-up until the earliest of 3/10. Now that is six (6) days after it was sent 2nd Day Air.
Don't waste your money with UPS ship packages USPS Priority Mail or FedEx, at least with USPS they deliver on Saturday along with FedEx, and they don't seem to lie all the time about the status of your package.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Guaranteed delivery of 10:30AM CST. Driver failed to deliver, with the reason being missing suite number. The suite number is on the shipping label. The response was the driver has returned to the station and will deliver on the next day, and the compensation offered was the refund of the shipping costs.
The delayed delivery cost far exceeds the cost of delivery.
Actually, the website is ups.com.
If you just call the person or company who shipped the package & explain to them what happened, they call contact UPS. UPS would refund the shipper, and then the shipper could give you a refund.
Yes, refund of Shippng cannot undo the cost of the delay, but at least it's something. Not everything goes according to plan - and the cost of insurance to litigate and determine the exact cost of the delay, or other delays would make shipping costs prohibitive.
Better luck next time.
I'm on this site, 'coz I manage a The UPS Store, and today I learnt that a 12 Box Shipment of Artwork to Florida - heavily insured $2K per box arrived with 7 of the 12 Boxes and contents damaged. I spoke with the reciever who was abused by the UPS Driver when he was asked to sign for the delivery, but refused unless he was allowed to annotate that 7 of the packages were obviously damaged.
My frustration is that I had staff come in on overtime to prepare and pack the items. The reciever himself said it was eveident that the contents were more than adequately packed. Bubble Wrap, Compression Peanuts and Polystyrene Board stiffeners, all in double walled boxes. He said to me that the corners of some of the boxes were crushed ! - How the hell can I face my customers after taking every possible precaution ? I was so upset the store owwner told me to take a break and leave early. - God help our UPS driver when he comes for the pick-up tomorrow night; I fear I'll unleash all my wrath, unfairly on him...
UPS has the worst customer service on the planet. I tried to send a package to my son at college. The name of the college, address, city and state were correct, but I miswrote the last digit of the zip code. I paid to have the package shipped 3 day select and after 10 days the package did not arrive. When I called them about it they said I would have to spend an additional $10 to get the package delivered. I would have to spend an additional $10 to change the last digit of the zip code. Keep in mind that the college my son goes to is very famous and everyone (except UPS apparently) knows where it is. ALso keep in mind that they had my phone number and could have called me. I talked to 5 people at UPS including 2 supervisors and all they could say (like robots). We have a procedure and you need to pay $10 more dollars and we'll deliver the package. WHy would I spend $40 to deliver a box of cookies to my son. I will never use UPS again. THey have terrible customer service and the fact that a shipping company can't use the Internet to check on a zip code is absolutely absurd.
Don't get all huffy at UPS for the error YOU made. The package wouldn't have been delayed if YOU wrote the address correctly, end of story.

UPS is a dreadful service company that causes otherwise perfectly normal people to loose their sanity and heart attacks. Please use their competition whenever possible.
