I live in Wilmington, Delaware and some idiot that works for the post office decided that it was fiscally responsible to remove all the self-service machines to buy stamps, mail small packages, etc. And this in light of their very crappy customer service. Today, April 20, I got in line with two people ahead of me and two people being waited on by two postal service counter workers. Once one of the workers finished helping a customer, he got up from his seat as one of the other customers ahead of me approached the counter. We thought he went to get something for someone, but that guy was gone for 20 minutes!. The other worker called for a supervisor, but I overheard her say that the supervisor never comes. Well the supervisor did come out and asked if she had been called. When the worker told her that yes she had called and told the supervisor that the other worker had just left the counter unattended. About 10 minutes later another postal worker came out and when it was finally my turn to be helped, I told her that we only get 15 minutes to park while I had been waiting in line for over 30 minutes. Do you know what she did? She just shrugged her shoulders! Unbelievable!

Yes, they seem to be idiots in Wilmington, DE. My husband and I recently sent a care package to my daughter who had moved there a few weeks before. She had been getting mail. The postman, seeing that she had a small apartment mailbox, on the outside unsecured part of the building left the package sitting on the street. She lives on a third floor apartment over a jewelry store. The part of town this well meaning child moved to is very obviously not in a secure area of town.Obviously homeless people wander around all day. What decent postal worker wouldn't have left it with the store front or failing that left a note for her to pick up at the post office. While they legally might not have HAD to do that, wouldn't it have been good customer service to have it. What a lazy, thoughtless, bum that postal worker was. Makes proving that all the jokes you hear aren't true a whole lot harder for our postman who does the slip regularly and we live in a very, very saft neighborhood where you could easily leave an unattended package.

The USPS service in north miami gives the worst services, when you ask for redelivery they give you a confermation number and still don't deliver your package to you, and when you call some of the agents are so rude its unbelivable, were do they hire these rude people?

I live in Minnesota. After moving home over the holidays 3000 miles, an incident happened in Texas regarding my husbands mail. I had filled out, online, and paid for, the individual move so that only my mail would follow me. It did, however, the Cleburne, TX postal worker who is very familiar with the way our mailbox is set up, decided to not deliver any of my former spouses mail, and instead, returned it.
He claimed that if the mail overflowed he had a duty to return it. Accept, he never put it in the box. Our tenant whose mailbox right next to ours on the porch, is always over-flowing because our tenant is too lazy to come get it but the mailman NEVER holds his mail or returns it so there's something weak about that argument.
Then the excuse became: "Well, the mailman didn't see any furniture in the front rooms so he thought the house was empty." Really? In the past years there has NEVER been any furniture in the front rooms because it's a Victorian home and the front parlors are never used! He knows that from the previous tenants and previous owner so that excuse doesn't work either. (These are the excuses given to us by the Manager at the Cleburne, Tx Post Office.)

Hence, my former spouse never got any mail for 10 days. Bills, gifts, (it was Christmas time, etc.)

This meant him not getting valuable information and Christmas money, etc. My former spouse then accused me of making a mistake and losing his mail in the process. It took days to solve and the post office dismissed our complaint.

A valuable document I found among my papers I had mailed back to my former spouse. It was returned to me. I already put 6 stamps on it and now it had to be sent back to him again, as he was still waiting for it at the same address that was on the envelope.

The form I filled out online, can be verified. I have a copy of it. In the mean time, the returned envelope still needed to be sent so I went to the Roseville, MN post office on County Road C.

It had been years since I had been there, but counted on the friendly and helpful customer service I use to know.

When I got there, a fellow behind the counter, named John, (I had to ask him his name as he wore no ID), was rushing customers through, not making eye contact and making smart remarks.
"Wow, " I thought. "What happened to the crew?" A woman behind me, whispered to someone else "This place isn't as nice as it use to be...the workers are so rude..."

It was my turn, so I showed John the envelope and began to explain to him the problem. Before I could, he interrupted me and flatly stated, "Well, you filled out the form wrong.."

"No, I did not-" I started to explain again, he interrupted: "Well, I'm not going to argue with you, I'm getting a Supervisor."

"Good, " I stated, "that's exactly what I need you to do."

"Yeah, I knew you would." he retorted. And he wasn't joking. He sent me down to the end of the counter to wait. I waited 13 minutes. Still no manager.

"Do you think it will take much longer?" I asked, "I can't stay much longer." (I am a nurse and had to get going to a home care client who was expecting me.)

"Yeah, well I'll tell em again, " he said.
"Thanks, " I appreciate that.
"Yeah, I thought you would, " making it sound more like an accusation.
I began to study his body language for fear of him losing control.
"He'll get there when he can, " he said loudly, "they're busy you know!" He kept slamming things and raising his voice, continuing to rush his customers through, not bothering to acknowledge them even though it wasn't that crowded and he had time to be pleasant.

Two men walked out behind me while I was waiting and whispered to me: "Good luck dealing with these people, " they said, rolling their eyes, "it's not what it use to be."
All this time, a distinguished gray haired man, also working quietly behind the counter was taking it all in, though he said nothing.

He should have stepped in to help but didn't. He had no customers so not sure why he just stood there playing with receipts or what ever he was doing.

I asked John his name, (as up until then I didn't know it, )
"John, " he stated sarcastically, "Why?" he demanded.

"Because I need to have a chat with somebody." I answered.
"Yeah, I'll bet you do!"

I felt as though I was being bullied with sarcasm and John looked angry. He had no call to treat me or anyone else that way. He should be grateful he has a job.

That incident happened about a week and a half ago today during the afternoon. I hope someone handles this because bullying people and making them feel afraid to come back for questions or help with their mail is reprehensible. John shouldn't be working in the front. Really.

To Whom It May Concern,

I moved to Fort Branch, Indiana back in Sept and filled out a change of address with the local post office. I received the verification statement letting me know that as of Oct. 29th, 2013 all my mail will be sent to my new address. In Dec I received a Christmas Card and my credit card statement and in the beginning of Jan I also received a statement. However, I have not received any mail since even though I have been expecting a statement from my credit card company, my w2's, a pay check, the title release since paying off my car and my new insurance cards from my job.
Today I went to the post office with the verification statement I was sent back in Oct that has both my old address and new one, letting me know all my mail will go to the new address come Oct. 29th of 2013. I was told by the clerk at the Fort Branch, Indiana post office that the mail carrier has been returning my mail to be sent back to the sender because he didn't think I lived there anymore!
Since when does the mail carrier have the right to return mail because ' he thinks ' someone doesn't live there anymore?
I have been waiting for these important documents and my pay check for some time now and today I find out that although I did what was required of me, followed the correct procedure, the carrier decided that I wasn't to get my mail?
When I asked the clerk why they took it upon themselves when I never filled out nor notified them that I was moving away, did they stop delivering my mail? She said, " it isn't our fault. It is the mail carriers " and then wrote out a note on a sticky pad letting them know that I live here still. That...is how it was handled.
Needless to say? I am quite upset at the incompetence and lack of concern toward their mistake.

Sincerely,
Laurea Ann Malloy

I have always valued the US Post Offices service. In the past, I have avoided Fed Ex and UPS, because the USPS provides a valuable service.
When I needed to renew my passport, I drove the extra 10 miles down to the local Tavernier Post Office which advertises Passport Services and even has a camera set up out front. This is what I did 10 years ago, went I obtained my current passport. When my lady and I arrived, the counter attendant handed me a piece of paper stating to schedule an Appointment on line. I asked, since I was present at the post office for the attendant to schedule my appointment. I was told no and that I had to schedule the appointment on line. I would have understood this if the post office was exceedingly busy, but my lady and I were the only two customers in the whole Post Office with two counter attendants.

'Go away and come another day' This is not poor service, this is simply no service.

Upon going on line, I found I could send in for a passport renewal and avoid the Post Office. I have obtained the new photo at Walgreens sent the renewal via Fed Ex.
