Unprofessional behavior last 3 visits in a span of 3 weeks
Vons Barstow, CA 92311 today at 12:15 PST lead supervisor white female, 48, blonde ignored me for 15 mins while helping another customer then turned to me and said the title company handles WU if you want to head over there with an attitude. During the 15 mins she snapped at an employee, 2 employees argued she didn't intervene. Last week the lead who helped me white female wasn't happy made me feel like a second class customer, week before employee in at 7 am white female 40 s was rude to me and condescending. Generational conflicts boomer Vs. Millennial generational cohort and just disdain for selected customers.
Employee at 30th street location in san diego california
Hello,
On Friday 09/01/17 at approximately 9pm I visited your store located at 4145 30th Street, San Diego CA 92104 to buy dog food and bread. I was with my girlfriend and our three year old dog. My girlfriend and I went into the store to purchase our items, leaving our dog in the car with the windows cracked(the outside temperature was 76 and it was night time). After spending around 10 minutes finding and purchasing our groceries we returned to our car. There was a older gentleman and woman standing at our car window, he appeared to be trying to break into my car. The man started to yell at me about how dangerous it is to leave your dog in the car. He told me he was going to call the police on us and that the woman with him had taken a picture of my license plate. He was raising his voice and getting closer to me as he yelled, I felt surprised and scared for our safety. Both of these people were in their Vons uniforms and were confirmed to be Vons employees by a team member inside the store. They appeared to have just gotten off their shift or left for a break. Nevertheless they were in the store parking lot with company branded uniforms yelling at my girlfriend and I. I would like this action to be treated as it should be, and to make sure the employees receive the punishment they deserve. I have already filed a verbal complaint with the manager on duty, and this serves as my official written complaint. This was completely uncalled for, it was 9pm at night and the windows were cracked and it was 76 degrees out. We also only spent about 10 minutes in the store. I really do not appreciate the way the man and woman acted towards us, and doing so in a company uniform should be a high level offense in my opinion.
Thank you,
Antonio
Customer service/help
I was at VONS to pick up infant formula, which is locked, which is very inconvenient for people in a hurry especially with a hungry baby waiting. It was 7:30 pm, they had two cashiers, no one else was around except 1 bagger. I asked a cashier for help in formula, she called over the loud speaker that help was needed in that specific isle. I waited, waited and waited some more. Over 20 minutes later, I walked back to the lady and asked her why no one came. Her reply was "We don't have the key, we can't find it. No one told you? I thought someone was going to tell you.", SERIOUSLY? This her attitude and along with the lack of employees and responsible ones at that (who won't lose a VERY crucial key), need a serious reality check! I went to Albertson's, who were more than helpful and I got out of the store in 5 minutes or less. I will never return to a VONS again! Worst customer service and my daughter was very upset since her bottle was prolonged for such terrible service.
Bad customer service
I went into vons on la mesa on cliff in santa Barbara and I witnessed a cashier being very rude and disrespectful towards a customer the manager witness the whole thing and did nothing. I heard yell his name was Craig or something with a C --- he was very prejudice and mean to this lady it was obvious he was being racist against her because she was Hispanic - I witnessed him being very nice to the lady in front of her who was Anglo with blond hair. The moment the lady in front of me who was buying milk got to the register his whole persona changed. It was very uncomfortable for me to watch him yell at her and to see the manager next to him do absolutely nothing was even more uncomfortable. I know for sure I will NEVER go into this store again. This happened on 8/27 @ 9:00 at night. I don't understand how any of your stores allow this type of customer service. This is not right, all because of someone's race. This is an embarassement to witness your employees give such poor customer service and to top it off yell at customers.
I went into Vons up on la mesa in Santa Barbara I went in to buy milk for my boys for the morning it was 9:00 p.m. at night - On the way back from the Dairy I noticed my husbands favorite cookies were on sale, I grabbed a few and went to the register when I got to the register I told the cashier the cookies were on sale and it was on my app what did I need to do to get him the coupon, he said when I swipe my vons card it would show up (he was rude when he said this) when I punched in my phone number the price didn't change so I asked what happened, he yelled at me and said, "your number is NOT registering!" I said, well I have a vons card, he yelled again and said, "you need to swipe the card! I told him I didn't have it ---- he then yelled at me and said, "well I don't have any the next time you come ask someone! he than rudely yelled, " I normally don't do this but I will adjust the coupon, so he did then he didn't give me the full discount, so I said, If you give me a new card that would be easier, he then ignored me and called a manager to come help him cashier, he was huffing and puffing making grunting noises and his manager did nothing! I told him if it was such a big deal FORGET the cookies! I just WANT TO BUY MILK! he then looked at me and yelled, 'WHAT DO YOU WANT! I said MILK! then he yelled his name at me and said, "MY NAME IS CRAIG BECAUSE I KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO COMPLAIN TO CORPORATE AND I DON'T CARE! at that point I had it! I yelled at him to BACK OFF! and threw a bad word at him he laughed at me, his manager next to him did nothing didn't even look my way. They both had DISCUSTING customer service! I am a mother of 3 all I wanted was 1 gallon of milk, but I got nothing but attitude.
Shopping carts on the neighborhood streets of oakhurst, ca
Over the past year I have visited and talked with managment at Vons about an on going problem with shopping carts removed from Vons and left on my street. It takes months to get picked up, if at all. Please fix this on going problem by picking them up asap and/or putting wheel locks on the carts. This litter of shopping carts makes our community look bad. Thank you.
Cashier customer service
I visited the Vons in Costa Mesa on Harbor and Adams, and unfortunately I received some of the worst customer service from the cashier, Jennifer. Her attitude wasn't one that was pleasant at all, she didn't say hello, didn't ask me how I was or how I found my items, no smile, nothing. Instead I got an exaggerated sigh, she didn't ask if i needed or wanted a bag, didn't say you're welcome when i thanked her, she didn't help me lift my items when i couldn't reach them from where she had set them down. Her attitude was terrible and if this is he customer service Vons is giving, there needs to be something done. No attitude should come to a customer at any time when I haven't even exchanged words with her. Terrible service.
Not honoring a rain check
RE: Vons located at 550 Eont, CA 91711 Baseline Rd ClaremToday 8/23/2017, I went to above Vons to redeem my "rain check" for a 12 pack of sugar pepsi soda. I had bought this product in late June, with the buy 2 get 2 free promotion. Well, there were only 3 packages on the floor at the time of my purchase, so I bought the 3 and received a "rain check" for the 4th. Well, today I TRIED to redeem this rain check. To no avail. No one believed me when I tried to get my one extra FREE pepsi 12 pack. They even called over the person who filled in the rain check and she would not honor it. (A person named Diane, a manager-type looking person). Your checker and this Diane person made me feel like I was trying to steal their Pepsi 12 pack. I am sure I am saving this stupid rain check to choose to embarrass myself in public and try to get a free 12 pack of Pepsi. Honestly, am a 64 year old woman, give me a break. After feeling like a total idiot, and a fool, I left and said to just forget it. It will be a cold day in hades before I step foot in this store again!
Rodent's health hazard in the grocery store
I was shopping at your Von's at 1342 N Alvarado St in Los Angeles on Friday, August 11th after work around 4:00 p.m. I went into the store to purchase some Friday $5.00 items which included baked bags of lettuce and loose fruits and vegetables.
Upon checking out I looked to my right and saw at the front of the store rats along with the cashier the bag checkers and others who were aghast to see rodents (rats crawling along the floor. When I arrived home an hour later I noticed holes in the bag of lettuce I tossed everything in my outside trash can.
I did not contact the manager of the store who I recall running...I guess to try and catch the rodents. I asked if anyone saw the rats and everyone had a plastered face...very scary and alarming.
I will not be returning to that location until a complete extermination as has completed for the safety and welfare of all that shop in that particular store and location (there is a high populous of homelessness in the general area which I believe is contributing to the rodent epidermic). I know there are not many grocery store options in the area this is unacceptable the store needs to be closed.
Never have enough cashiers!!
I just walked out of the store located in the Mission Plaza Mall in Downtown Ventura. This is the second time that I have done that this week. The store manager is clearly incapable of scheduling cashiers properly. This store routinely has lines of 25-30 people blocking isles, while only three cash registers are open. Wait times of 25 minutes to purchase a few items is unacceptable! I will not longer shop at this store since Vons clearly has no respect for customers! I am convinced that the store manager bonuses for minimizing the number of cashiers while maximizing the inconvenience of paying customer. Shameful!
Customer service
I tried to call the Torrey Hill Vons to ask about something in stock and nobody answered five times. Five times the phone rang, was put on hold with muzak and then rang again without being answered.
Again
product availability/quality and checkout
I shop at Vons market in Inglewood, CA. Lately, I have noticed that several of the products that I routinely buy haven't been on the shelves which I can't understand because they are very common, name brand products. Here's the list of what has been absent: Wonderbread white bread, Ortega taco shells, Nestle French Vanilla Coffee Creamer (regular), Mrs Butterworth's Syrup, Premium Romaine Salad.
Another issue I had on my last trip to this Von's was the loose russet potatoes they had stocked had a very bad appearance. The potatoes were overly gouged (approximately 90% of them) with shovel or tool marks from harvesting.
The final issue I want to bring to your attention is the checkout service that pretty much every time I shop is very slow. There are rarely if ever enough cashiers to check out (and this Von's has no self checkout available). I have counted more than 30 customers in line with only 1 or 2 express checkouts and 1-2 regular lines (usually 3 lines open with no more than 4 lines open at any time, regardless of how busy and full those few lines are and 2 of those 4 lines are express limited to 15 items so that leaves maximum 2 lines available for full carts.)
Maybe it is because this market is in a Black neighborhood or whatever the reason it, I have become accustomed to an overall UNPLEASANT and UNSATISFYING visit to Von's market. I'm sure that's not the image you want to maintain for your business model.
Packaged deli badly out of date all the time
For the 4th time in the last 4 months, I need to return to the von's on mckinley st in corona, ca to return a packaged premium packaged deli item that is far out of date. This time it was dietz and watson knockwurst. Every time I shop this store (very often!), I find something far out of date (this was dated 7/24, purchased on 8/4/17. I also go hand it to first the deli clerk next to the display, or, lately to the manager ("jerry"). They always claim the will have the case checked, but they dont, as I handed the deli clerk a primo taglio turkey (pillow pack) the had a sell by date just under one month earlier. I asked the clerk "dont you ever check this stuff?! Your going to kill someone". This is just laziness and poor management. This has also happened with other cold items in other areas (cheese, dairy). It takes me twice as long to shop because of my total lack of confidence in your product rotation. Ironically, for this same reason I stopped shopping at albertsons that was across the street many years ago, even finding buying multiple packs of 1lb of ground beef but charged for 2 lbs of weight. I will not tolerate this very much longer. They also like to put things "on sale" that are expiring that or the next day, instead of putting in the section the reserve for just that purpose. Do I need to call the tv news and have the consumer watchdog do an expose' on this? I should just drive the extra 2 miles to stater brothers (vons is 800 feet) and not even bother. What do you intend to do to fix this inept store?

As the cashier is ringing up my groceries I hand him my vons card. He tells me slide my Vons card with a nasty attitude through the card reader for debit and credit cards. I tried several times and the card reader did not read my Vons card. I hand the Vons card to the cashier and he scans my Vons card and throws it on the counter. He did not hand the card back, but literally threw the card on the counter towards me. He also did not ask me did I want a grocery bag and I clearly did not have one with me and was too much to carry out.
I watched his interactions with the customers before and after me. He did not ask either of them to slide their Vons card through the debit card reader nor did he throw their cards back at them. He also offered them bags for their groceries.
This paticular white male has followed me around in Vons on preivous occurances (Twice to be exact). I see this as one racial profiling and this certian individual particularly having an issue with blacks.
I do not have the individuals name but I can return to the store at a later time and ask for it.
Unethical behavior
On Wednesday, the 19th of July, I had went into the Vons in Murrieta, off of Sky Canyon Dr, for a return and everyone was busy along with very long lines in the check stands. I waited at the service desk and the manager, Marwan, came to help me and was completely rude and unhelpful. I can't believe that he is a manager. After being utterly rude, he told me he couldn't help me anymore and that he was busy doing other things and went back in his office. Not only was he rude to me but I've spoken to several employees there and they said that he is the same way to them.
Customer service
Albertson's store in Calabasas California is not properly staffed. You have 1 to 2 checkers in the evening time with the line of 10 customers in each. Staffed. You have 1 to 2 checkers in the evening time with the line of 10 customers in each. Albertson's used to have a threes a crowd policy but since Vons took over, Albertdon's has gone down hill.
Your von store in Santa Barbara California is not properly stocked. I went to every checkout register looking for gum to buy, the majority of the boxes were all empty and when I ask her to check he went to every checkout register looking for gum to buy, the majority of the boxes were all empty and when I ask her to check her we're all the gum was her response was, " we have a new warehouse and everything is messed up and therefore we haven't been able to stock the shelves. I'm Not really sure why this would have any bearing on why your shelves were not stocked.
My family have been loyal customers to the Vons company since the early 60s when the the Von der Ahe family was running the show, but now it's mainly about shareholders and saving money for the stores which would probably explain why you don't have enough checkers in the evening to get the customers out faster this is considered a big savings for this company.
I thought I'd never say this but I no longer enjoy shopping in any of Vons stores. I find that pain a little bit extra money to shop at when your competitor stores And the extra little drive to get to them is a much more pleasant experience.
Thank you
Customer service
July 29, 2017 at 4:00 pm I recently went shopping for my usual groceries using my WIC checks the dairy yogurt was empty I had to search the entire store for help and found my self at the register asking the cashier named Elizabeth for help she first ignored me and said it was just stalked today I said really because it looks empty could you look in the back she did not want to and said we did not have none and then as I am paying I feel very rushed and like I was bothering her and so I grabbed a peach yogurt of the Lucerne since there was nothing else left in the referator and the supervisor comes I believe his name is Albert and I say what can I do if you have nothing and he simply told me you have enough time till your check expires just come back, excuse me this is not okay I needed my groceries for today and I did not need the rude attitude from the employees at this store rather then helping me they treated me as if I was not a valued customer I will no longer be returning to this vons there has been a change in employees or something there because I have never seen these people and never experienced this before . I would like this issue to be resolved so that other people will not have this bad experience.
Three's a crowd false advertisement
I use to shop weekly at Vons store #2655 but stopped for several months because of the long lines at checkout and false advertising, three's a crowd. Management wouldn't open another checker until customers became angry.
I returned shopping again 7/23/17 @20:19 and the lines were outrageous. It took me longer to get through lines than shop for my $83.14 purchases. This is inexcusable and false advertisement. There've been multiple experiences I've had if waiting beyond three customers in line with no response to open a checkout.

Apple produce selection
I am a regular customer at the Vons on Brea Blvd in Brea, CA. When I look through the selection of red apples, I am usually able to find at least 5 that are firm and have very little to no bruises on them. I have been able to do this at this particular Vons for about 2 years now.
However, over the last month or so, I am lucky to find just one that only has a small bruise. The ones that have been available in the produce section have one or more of the following problems:
-They have several large bruises on one apple. In some cases, the bruises are so deep where it has even caused the skin to be discolored. Today I even saw one where the bruise turned the skin of the red apple black.
-They have large gashes or cuts or holes in the apple that look like someone cut into the apple slightly with a knife or was poking needles into the apple.
-Some of the apples are so soft I am worried that if I hold them too tight that the apple will fall apart, clearly indicating that the apple is rotten or has gone bad.
-Sometimes the one apple that seems firm and has no bruise. Then, I buy it and I find that it is rotten in the core later when I bite into it.
It is disgusting that I am consistently getting these results, especially when this applies to every apple in a pile of at least 20 or more where I can't find even one that looks edible. I have even tried varying when I go to the store in the hopes of changing my luck, but I am always met with the same results.
I do understand that sometimes you can't help these situations. Customers might drop one and put it back, they put one back and it falls off the pile onto the base of the shelf, etc. However, this is a repeated situation where clearly the entire batch has visible bumps, bruises or cuts that most of them should have been discovered and removed when they were put on the shelf.
In addition, please train your clerks and baggers to handle produce more carefully. Sometimes, I spend half an hour finding apples that don't have significant bruises, and when I finally find a couple and go to purchase them, the clerk will toss them on the scanner and/or the bagging area haphazardly or the bagger will drop them on the bottom of the bag where they can be hit easily. They will be tossed around so carelessly that when the apples hit the scanner or bagging area, it makes a noticeably loud sound. Either way, these actions happen often and I find bruises when I get home that weren't there when I selected them. I understand that apples are heavy and should be towards the bottom, but a bottom layer of protection in the bag using another item helps a lot. I find myself rearranging my bag with the apples just in front of the store to prevent bruising and am able to find something to put underneath it that helps protect the apples without crushing that other item.
If you would like evidence of this situation, please contact me via [protected]@gmail.com, and I would be happy to return to the store to take photographic evidence.
I hope that you will approach this concern as soon as possible. Thank you.
Vons brand guacamole
To whom this may concern,
Today (7/24/17), I opened my container of Vons guacamole that I purchased yesterday (7/23/17) and found that my container is unsealable. I ate approximately half of the container, only to find that the lid was significantly smaller than the main container portion of the plastic packaging. This inability to close the container will cause my guacamole to become brown and be unpalatable by tomorrow, when which I will be forced to throw away the rest of my Vons guacamole product that I was looking forward to eating. I would appreciate a new guacamole that can close properly so that I am able to enjoy this delicious product in multiple sittings.
Lack of staff
Hi,
Mike the manager at Lakewood CA store #2209 has said he would hire more staff for the longer time but I think he is too cheap to do so. For the last two months, every and literally every time I go (Monday at 11 am, Sunday at 5 pm, Wednesday at 10 am) there are empty shelves, expired items, long lines at checkout and overly ripe produce. All the staff are nice and working their butts off, but there just isn't enough. I shop at different times and days every week. Expired items include packaged fruit, tofu (by over two months), yogurt and bread. Today there was almost no milk left. Months ago this store was better staffed. What happened?
I know my neighbors have been complaining as well. One neighbor said that Mike gave her the blow off saying he would hire... same thing with me and same thing the employees say. Okay then, stop being so cheap and hire people! It's been at least 3 months!
Sincerely,
A soon to be Ralph's Customer (they are down the street from Vons)
Brandi
