Store manager Kevin
I was shopping at the Vons store in Redlands Ca. And I went thru the express lane and I noticed Kevin was always on his phone texting. It definitely slowed up the line. As I got ready to ring up my items he was yet again texting on his phone so I said “can you please not text in front of customers” he said my mother is in the hospital with cancer and I’m trying to find out how she is doing. I then said “ you should not be working and you should be with your mom. I thought that if his mother was sick with cancer then Vons should step up and allow this man to be with his mother. Nothing else was said. I’m a very regular shopper at this store and I have witnessed all of your cashiers on their phones texting. To me this is the rudest thing to do in front off your customers. Could you please look into this please. Thank you
Desired outcome: If your in the check out lines the cashiers should not be allowed to be on their personal phones talking or texting!!!
Vons bakery - custom cakes
My mother was turning 76 years old and I wanted to order her a beautiful birthday cake. I always call her my unicorn so I got online to VONS where I shop normally, looked through the available options LISTED IN THE OAKHURST CA store where I was shopping. The plastic laminated book that is on the bakery counter mirrors the one available online according to the ZIP Code I was using for the specific store so I chose the cake it said available and I ordered it.
The picture shows a colorful and lovely unicorn cake. It had no plastic pieces apart from a horn and just use various colors of icing to make beautiful waves of a main and big long eyelashes, etc. I added my special custom message as well.
Attached please find the split screen photo. The photo on top is the photo VONS advertised in their plastic laminated book on the counter in the Oakhurst store as well as online reading “available” the picture underneath is the cake I received.
I showed up to pick up her birthday cake, opened the box and had a meltdown. Not only was the cake absolutely hideous. It looked like a third grader had made it, the message was completely incorrect and what really made me angry is the young lady who presented it to me just stood there with no solutions when I opened the box and had an absolute tantrum. She explained to me that the cake I ordered online which was also displayed in their laminated book on their counter, was not available in their store. She said it required a kit which included plastic pieces and I stood there pointed to the one in the book which clearly had no plastic pieces other than a stupid horn which any [censored] could have made out of various items in the store in a pinch. She kept saying we don’t have that kit so we couldn’t make you the right cake. But what really pissed me off is that nobody called or Emailed me to make me aware of this!
I thought I was picking up a lovely birthday cake for a very special birthday for my mother.
Even after expressing my extreme displeasure I was expected to pay $35 for a cake that literally looked like a third grader made it in a craft class!
So rather than leave it on a shelf and walk out of the store, I felt guilty and went and paid for it.
I have shopped at Vons for 15 years. In the last year I have received produce that is spoiled on multiple occasions and canned goods and other items purchased with already expired dates. I continued to shop at VONS and just figured this was some thing the store was going through but after today I will not be back. I am posting my experience on yelp, Facebook and other sites. If you can’t train your employees properly and teach them how to offer solutions to people who are highly irate for a good reason and also only equip your stores with products that are available in your specific store!
It was a classic bait and switch and I will never be back. It’s not about the $35. This was a very special occasion and I did not have time to go find another cake. Your store clearly offered items that according to the girl weren’t available but the problem was she was just too lazy or incompetent to figure out how to make the same cake which required absolutely no pieces apart from a stupid horn. Further nobody bothered to call me. She just stood there like a complete [censored]. Unacceptable customer service all the way around.
I work in plastic surgery. If a patient came in for breast implant surgery and woke up with two testicles attached to their chest, instead of two breasts it would be unacceptable for me to just stand there and say “oh I’m sorry we didn’t have the right kit available.” “So you don’t want two testicles on your chest instead?”
In my job if something is not available or something is going to be changed, I call the patient and explain any changes!
And this should be the same for ANY type of business. It’s called customer service.
Classic Bait & Switch.
Desired outcome: Full refund & The Cake I ordered delivered to my home with the original message (Which they also [censored]ed up) on the cake! Magical Birthday Wishes To My Unicorn
I have been home sick with Covid but I need cough drops, cold medicine, tea and some groceries like vegatables and chicken so I can treat my symptoms and ...um, well -- eat. So, I order online for delivery from Vons.com because I don't want to go in to a store to contaminate anyone. I order the items I mentioned and make sure to put specific delivery instructions on the order. I live in a large apartment complex in LA. So, instructions for where to find my apartment in the complex or at least where specifically to drop the groceries are important. I understand this. These drivers are not getting paid a lot to make deliveries. I got a text at 3pm that the order was being put together. At 5:53 I get a text that the order was delivered.
...No knock at my door...
I open it anyway expecting to see the groceries and nothing.
Ok. It's a big apartment complex. I will put on a mask since I have Covid and go outside, down 8 flights of stairs to the main entrance. Maybe the driver dropped them out by the main entrance right off the street.
Nope. Nada. Nothing.
I walk to the main elevator bank where many deliveres are placed by Amazon, Hello Fresh etc
Nope. Nada. Nothing to see there either.
I call the Vons customer support number since I had my phone with me. I was on hold for 19 minutes while I made my way up to the building office managers floor where also sometimes delivery drivers leave packages. Nope. Nothing there either... I am still on hold. Traipsing around with Covid in my pajamas. I go back to my apartment. Vons finally answers I give them my order number. They have no way of telling where the driver verified where they left the groceries. All they can determine is it was madw through Instacart.
They promise to refund my money amd gave me a 10$ store credit I guess to make up for the $ I wasted on a delivery charge and a tip. After some online research it appears Vons puts delivery instructions on the receipt and throws the receipt in the bag where drivers don't think to look. Still a terrible way to do business. No delivery driver should have left without at least calling my number to ask for help in dropping the items off. Not good that Vons deliveries are done by "one of" their 3rd party services which could include DoorDash. A total cluster amd never will shop at Vons again.
customer service
I am a senior, (68) and shop at your Yucca Valley store when my food stamps become available. I went in this morning (Sunday, August 7th, and have never been treated so badly by the cashier, Anna, I always make a point of telling the checker how much I have available, so I don't go over. Today, as she started ringing things up, I had told her that I only had $92.00 and she looked at me like I was crazy. She actually said to me well you aren't going to make it with what I had in the cart because the sodas were almost half of that, I told her that I had a Vons card and they were discounted. It was almost as if she was looking down on me because I was buying soda with food stamps. I have worked my whole adult life and now have to live off of $90 a month. It is embarrassing enough without judgement that I have to use them. I probably will not shop there any time soon because of her reaction to me. Can you please tell your people that there are a lot of people these days that have to do this to survive.
This is not a good representation of your supermarket. Very sad. Thank you. store #3058, Manager: Megan Husband. Yucca Valley, CA 92284
Desired outcome: Not Sure

Went in to purchase non-alcoholic wine for a sober friend that I am hosting and Borris the supervisor there told me I’d be unable to purchase it at self checkout. In my many attempts to clarify whether or not it was alcoholic since my ID was needed he kept repeating it’s the law it’s no regard or care about the reason for me asking. Peoples sobriety is very...

Employee
Evelia was not respectful during my checkout. She did not ask if I needed a bag or bag my items. I placed my items in my bag. She didn't even say thank you for shopping with Vons. If Evelia had issues or unhappy about her work, then, please. Advice her to step away and resolve her problems. We all work for a living and coming to Vons is what I do once or twice a week after work. The least Vons Employees can do is smile and acknowledge paying customers. Do not rush customers during checkout. Make sure customers are getting proper respect at anytime!
Desired outcome: Customer service Training.RespectSmileBe thoughtfulBe generous

Service
I want to file a complaint but seeing the 588 complaints and only 15 resolved with a 1 star rating I think I won't wast my time with your website either. I will just go to the CEO
It say my complaint is too short and likely to be resolved.

Premium Orchard Yogurt Trail Mix 20 oz
Today is July 6, 2022. I bought this product about a week ago at the Vons Store on Ventura Road in Oxnard. When I opened it a winged bug was at the top surface of the bag. I began scooping some nuts into a container and with each scoop, spider webs accumulated on the spoon. More bugs flew out of the bag. This is gross and disgusting and needless to say, I will not eat these nuts.

Poor service
I was in the store on 6/21/22. The checkout clerk did not acknowledge me or say a single word to me. As I left, I said Thank You, and the clerk said, "yep." What kind of service is that?! He should be thanking me. He was not wearing a name badge, however, he had gauges in his ears about the size of a nickel and short black hair.
This particular store does not have friendly service. They never seem to have enough cashiers when the store is busy and only a few lines open. Whoever is in charge of this branch should have a meeting with the employees on customer service.
Desired outcome: He should be talked to about his poor customer service. If he can't greet and say thank you, then he shouldn't be in that position.
Gift card
Be careful if you buy gift cards or any other product this store sells by third party vendors. Vons does stand behind the product. I bought a gift card for my son and he opened it in the Vons parking lot. The code you need to use the card was damaged and unreadable. I walked right back in the store and was told by the manager that there was nothing they...

The driver is bringing his semi truck regularly to my neighborhood and has decided to park it in front of my house overnight. There’s a sign in my neighborhood that clearly says no semi trucks allowed. Not sure if his just been lazy and brings it home instead of dropping it in there warehouse.

Desired outcome: Hoping this truck driver doesn’t bring his working truck to my neighborhood anymore. Our streets just got fixed by the city and don’t want this huge truck destroying it again.
If this keeps happening you should contact the police.
Bakery
I ordered full sheet graduation cake with fresh strawberries n yellow n black school colors. When I pick it up the cake was red writing n flowers and there was no filling. This west Covina Vons. My son senior graduation 5/31/2022.. this was a upset to me cuz I always used Vons for bakery n I never had a problem before
App information is wrong
According to your map the Vons closest to me is the store on 45 East Horizon Parkway which is where I had to pick up my groceries from and is a 12 mile round trip. As you can see from the pictures I only live .4 miles away from the Anthem store where I should of got my order. I called someone and they basically told me I was wrong and I don’t pick my groceries up there but, I most certainly do. Until today when the address was changed. Looking at the picture of the distances from my address you can tell the information is wrong
Desired outcome: The distance to the Anthem Store is corrected in your app and I am reimbursed for my time and gas money spent
Rude cashier
I was “helped out” by the cashier with the name of Patricia on the vons store located at 620 Dennery road in San Diego, California, at 14:56 , where I had one of many bad experiences by the same employee Patricia that besides of being rude she damaged my food and gave me a really bad attitude just for telling her in a polite way to please handle with care...

I purchased a 8 piece Grilled Chicken pieces. When I got home, there were only 4 pieces in the bag. I called the store, Store 2100, 9860 National Blvd, Los Angeles and was told to come in with my receipt and I would be taken care of.
I went to the store and the service center person was very nice and said to get another 8 piece bag.
The Deli person interrogate me and gave me the 4 missing pieces.
Desired outcome: This mistake inconvenienced me with time and gas. I did not get what I was told I would. The Deli person made me feel like I was a criminal trying to scam the store.
Customer service
Went to your store at 25th and western last night In San Pedro California. When I checked out the cashier and bagger were both speaking Spanish. Neither one greeted me, nor did they stop speaking Spanish. It was enough to make me write this complaint to let you know that I will not be going back to that store until I receive word that there is some type of management in place that trains it’s employees to greet the customer and teach them that speaking Spanish in a checkout line in an English-speaking country While ignoring a white customer is considered rude if not invidiously racist.
Desired outcome: Text me that you fix the problem as I’ve been shopping there for the last 20 years. [protected]
Worst customer service
Floral department is has worst customer service I have ever experience. The employee could not be bother to acknowledge me for over 10 minutes. She was too busy talking to her coworkers, who I might add was on her phone the whole time I was in the store. The young lady in floral department is extremely rude to me and was very unprofessional and flirting with my son.
