Billing for account #[protected]
I had gas delivered 8/11/22 for season. I paid 201.76. On 10/6/22 I replaced my generator and called for hook up. The man came and did it, 2 pieces of pipe, about an hour or so. I paid the bill 289.99... What happened? Now I owe 993.00 dollars. I have called many times to no avail. Please help me. Thanks, James McCarthy, [protected]
Desired outcome: ADJUST BILL
Gas Delivery
This company is unbelievable. We have two tanks, one for a shop and one for our house. We ordered propane on the 3rd of January 2023 and today is January 19, 2023. I have called 4 times and spoke with a supervisor who assured me we were on expedited delivery due to our tank being empty. He guaranteed delivery in 24 hours. Today they tell me its not even scheduled yet. Im not sure where I can report this because it is not right. Whatever happened to service in the community or anywhere.
5 calls and 2 emails to customer service

I would like to speak with someone inside the company to assist me in transitioning this account after my mother's death. I've spoken with 5 representatives (call center), been given incorrect process information by 4 of them and sent 2 emails requesting assistance with no response. I really just I am asking for assistance from a knowledgeable employee of the company. I understand this situation likely does not occur often and hard to train call centers on unique situations. However, it would be appreciated if something like this could be escalated to an inside department or division. Addressing my mother's death over and over is getting hard. I have not had any problems with any other service provider with account handling. Please consider my request and have someone contact me either at [protected] or [protected]@gmail.com. I sent the death certificate and the letter of personal representation on January 13. If it takes time to review and process, please have a personal email sent to advise me of what is happening with the request.
Thank you,
With kindest regards,
Amy Zbel
Desired outcome: I would like someone to contact me please.
Propane delivery
I ordered a propane delivery as my tank was on 1/4 tank. I was waiting for delivery on the 16th of January 2023. A cold snap was predicted, so I planned a head.
No delivery, no call, nothing by the 18th day of January 2023. . Took a lot of searching to get to a person to be told they are short on drivers(no my problem) by some woman in INDIA. Basically go screw yourself was the answer. So, no updates, no propane. And I am afraid my RV pipe will freeze with the cold snap.
What a rip, by a company. I will be looking for a replacement.
Desired outcome: Get a delivery so I can not worry about cold weather.
Picking up of my propane tank
I am making a complaint to your company regarding picking up my propane tank. My tank is gone now, but it took 11-1/2 months for you to come pick it up. It took me over 40 hours of my time to get someone at Amerigas to follow through to get my tank removed. I the 11-1/2 months not one person told me there was a charge to pick my tank up. I continually told every person that I talked to that I need to charge YOUR company for storage fees for 11-1/2 months. I had to call again to get your company to give me the money for the propane I had in my tank. I told the person that I was not paying for the pick up of your tank. She deducted the pickup from the propane amount in my tank and I received the check. I feel that you owe me either the storage fees or money for pickup of the tank. I will continue to put your company down, because I feel as a customer I was treated unfairly. Your company put my family through absolute hell. From sleepless nights to so much anxiety that it almost makes me sick. Just wanted you to hear how you really treat your customers.
Desired outcome: Reimburse me for picking up the tank.
Leak check charge
Please consider the recent charge of $289.99 on January 3, 2023 for a possible propane leak at my mother's residence. Her caregiver detected an odor at 4 pm she determined was propane. I was contacted and placed the call requesting the leak be investigated. The number I called was [protected] and a service technician was dispatched. The propane is used...
Read full review of AmeriGas PropaneTank rental charges
I've been an Amerigas customer for 12 years with only minor issues until now. I have a 320 gallon tank and normally make two purchases of propane per fiscal year (November 01 to October 31). I've never been charged tank rental until 11/30/22 at which time I received a charge of $186.31 (invoice #[protected]). The agreement has always been that the rental will be waived if a purchase of at least 50% of tank capacity is made within the fiscal year.
In February of 2022 I purchased 160 gallon for $850.70 (invoice # [protected]) and in October/2022 a purchase of 160 gallon for $844.10 (invoice # [protected]) Total gallons purchased was 320 gallon, total cost $1691.80. Both deliveries were paid in full.
11/30/22 I received a tank rental charge of $186.31 (invoice# [protected]) This has also been paid in full, ($135.00 credit on my account plus the balance of $51.31that was paid 12/23/22)
As stated above, the tank rental has always been waived if the requirements for purchases were met. I believe I have satisfied that requirement in 2022 as I purchased 100% of my tank capacity in 2022.
I attempted to contact my local Amerigas facility in Mt. Orab, Oh. concerning this issue but found that the facility had been closed to "walk-ins" and the phone number disconnected. I called Customer Service with no results. Hopefully this can be resolved by filing this complaint and explaining in writing why I don't agree that I should be charged with the tank rental. Thank you for your consideration.
Desired outcome: Please refund tank rental charge of $186.31, thank you

Propane Gas
2012 New Construction home Tank placed 2/14/21
June 2012 Leak in Tank per Tech.
2012 July House complete customer moved in.
August Another leak per tech.
New Tank Gas Previous tank 2/14 1600 now 2700 same tank.
Called many times. Tank Leaking. Small house 2 adults. Tank lost gas in 2 months after we moved in then tank was filled with same amount of gas but with an extra $1000.00.
Both tech with each gas leak said they would report so it is known that the gas was leaking and not coming into the house. There is no way 2 people in a small ranch not using heat because it is July and only lived there for 2 months could have gone through 1000 gallon tank of gas.
Desired outcome: We paid for 1000 gallon tank. I will not pay for the 2nd tank of gas
Tank pickup charge
I received an invoice for $149 (tank pickup fee) on or about 11/23/22. I canceled my account with Amerigas about a month before that because they advised they were going to deliver gas and then did not on the day promised, as a matter of fact they changed the delivery out by 7 days. I have paid the annual fee on the tank since 1979. Someplace along the line Amerigas changed their terms to include a tank pickup charge (something that I was never made aware of and never signed anything associated to the "new" terms) so I was a bit taken aback by a charge by a company to pick up their own equipment that I was renting from them.
Desired outcome: Wave the tank pickup fee
Propane tank unlocking
I have been trying to get Amerigas to unlock my tank for over a month now, I tried before it got cold because my elderly mother is in the house and this is the only source of heat, Amerigas made an appointment for Dec. 21 between noon and 5 pm, sent confirmation emails and texts making sure someone would be there but no one called and no one showed up to unlock the tank. It took over a year just to get the tank set for me, and now I can't use the propane that I've been paying for. It got down to neg. 27 below zero for several days, and my mom ended up sick because of the lack of heat in the house. I have called over and over and over and no one can seem to let me know anything. This is the worst company ever and I will not keep paying for propane I can't even use. This is horrible and I have been treated and talked to by the customer service reps like crap, one guy made sure to keep telling me he would send someone out that would charge me $140 for a gas leak that I don't have if I called and reported a leak since I can't get anyone there to unlock my tank. The service is horrible, the customer service reps are rude and the supervisors have lied to me and I know they lied. Amerigas expects someone to be home and we were, but no one shows or calls to tell me that they aren't going to make the appt that was set up 3 weeks earlier. I am filing a lawsuit against this company and I will not continue to pay for propane that I can't even use. As far as I'm concerned, the company can come pick up the tank and shove it up their [censored], I will not do business with Amerigas again. Worst company ever, hands down. Sorry excuse for a business and who ever is running it obviously should not be. No organization, no service and rude employees
Desired outcome: i want refunded what i paid already that i cant use i want my money back and i want amerigas to get their tank off my property at this point. i will change companies again
Tank refill
I am complaining about my inability to connect with someone locally or somebody even in the United States. I called to explain that I needed a refill even though my gage read 72%. I knew the gage was stuck, it had done this before. I explained the situation to somebody in "India," they assured me I would get a delivery. (Dec. 30). On Jan. 4 I called again and they said I would get a delivery by Jan. 6th. Again I explained that my gage was stuck. I still didn't get a delivery. A gentleman came out to fix my gage on Jan. 9 and I actually had 5% in the tank. He said he would make sure I got a delivery.
I feel like maybe if I talked to someone locally or in the U.S. maybe this could have been avoided. There is no way around your system and nobody to complain to in person.
Desired outcome: I would like a phone number that gets to a call center in the U.S.
Failure to refill your propane as promised!
We are still trying to get a refill that was set on November 15th, over 7 weeks ago. They promised it Dec 7, Dec 15, Dec 24, Dec 27, 28, and 29. They couldn't find their own 500 gallon tank on one day (it's in the same place they installed it over 10 years ago), but never showed up on any of the dates promised, according to their own agents.
I spent many hours over that period on hold and with their agents, including over an hour on 5 calls on Dec 28, was cut off during their agents transferring me three times, was promised service by two "resolution specialists" on two occasions within 24 hours on an "emergency" basis. I have repeatedly requested calls back (and they promised I would receive them), but they have not happened.
They told me the tank was down to zero and told me they couldn't refill it without someone there so they could "test" it first.
So, I drove 135 miles to be there for them as they promised that day, but as of Jan 5, no call, text or sign of them. It turns out, the tank was well above zero!
I also drove to their offices in Wenatchee, another 26 miles away (287 miles in one day), and although the door was open, I found no one in any of the offices.
All local phone numbers (I tried numbers for offices around the State) are now routed to a call center overseas. I tried a corporate number and got another call center. There I was again promised service, but it didn't happen unless it was done without me there, and I received no call back to confirm anything!
I submitted a complaint on their company website, but no response to that email or to my request there for a call, either. The call center greeting asks you to complete a survey at the end of calls, but I have not once been offered to survey at the end of a call. They say they are focused on customer services, but I am not sure they recognize what customer service is!
User's recommendation: Until they fix their operations, avoid them.
Desired outcome: An apology, resolution of communication twixt call center & offices, timely & accurate info on tank & account (mine still shows 11/15 fill order, tank level 0). Calls by "resolution agent" & fill tank as promised!
Amerigas was supposed to refill our tank on Nov.5 2022 and failed to come and do the refill. We ran out of propane on Saturday Jan.7 2023 and their emergency number was worse than useless. I have repeatedly called their number that gets rerouted to the call center where i have been told different stories by 3 different people and one of them hung up on me when I asked her if I should believe the story I heard from the previous person I talked to or her story. We have no heat or hot water and the temperature is near freezing, all the pilot lights are out and I am too old to be climbing up in the attic to restart everything.
The only restitution I can see is to initiate a lawsuit against the company and possibly canvass the thousands of other customers that have been treated the same into a class action. It seems that the company does not care about the customer. The need to supply propane can be a life and death proposition in the middle of winter when a tank is allowed to go empty.
Gas delivery not done as indicated
On December 27, 2022, we made a request for Propane delivery with an advance payment. To date delivery has not happened and although I have made call for an estimated delivery date, I have not been able to get anything from them, with no guaranteed delivery date. I left message with several employees not to no avail, and one individual in the Resolutions representative, hung up on me in the middle of the conversation, they also refused to provide their names to me. As customer service representatives, I believe that providing a customer with a name is necessary. Amerigas has been very uncooperative in meeting our delivery request for propane.
Desired outcome: Delivery of propane as soon as possible
Metered service - just bought house but being charged for previous year and previous owners usage.
I purchased my house in October 2022 and moved in early November. I contacted AmeriGas and set up metered service beginning October 17. I received a bill in December showing a meter reading on December 19. I was billed for 193 gallons for six weeks service! That seems impossible to me. The house is a small two bedroom, 1200 square-foot property. I called and explained the situation and got no help at all. I asked to be transferred to someone who could help me and was transferred to a man who explained to me that the meter was previously read in January 2022. That means I was billed for a full year! I explained that I had only lived in the house six weeks and was not responsible for the previous owners propane usage. he said he was going to refer this to their resolution team and get back to me the following week. I did not receive a return call, so I called back. I got the same woman who spent an inordinate amount of time, just reading my bill back to me and could not help me. She finally came back online and let me know that they were sending someone out to my house to meet with me and look at the meter. I didn’t see how that could help as the meter had already been read, but said OK. So I waited on the designated day, at the designated time, and then, for the entire rest of the day, and big surprise, no one came out.
I really don’t know what to do. I am hoping that this months meter reading will indicate the vast difference in usage from my last meter reading. If I even get a meter reading. I just don’t know how to resolve this! I want to pay my bill, I just don’t want to pay the previous owners year long bill!
Desired outcome: Someone to help correct the billing for six weeks of propane service at this property
Reference to an empty tank
I contacted Amerigas approximately a month ago 12/22 in reference to an empty tank. I obtained necessary information regarding filling the tank. I informed the representative... I would call back. I contacted the competetor Freeman Gas and spoke with a representative who was much friendlier and helpful and made an appointment with them. The appointment was going to take 30 days. Jan 4th,. but based on conversation we were ok with that. I called back and unfortunately neglected to obtain name of rep I spoke to. With the Holidays and all the daily activities we forgot about Amerigas coming to pick up the tank.. I called today Jan 3rd as realized Freeman is coming tomorrow... Called Amerigas and spoke to Susan who informed. our account had NOT been closed as we previously thought a month ago then spoke with supervisor Rachel who basically said.. so sorry to hear that.. put me on hold... then came back to say basically that is not our issue and that it will take 30 days to get a technician out to retrieve tank. We are extremely disappointed in a company that we are forced to use because propane is our source of heat... we realize nothing may be done by contacting you... however we want consumers to be aware and always obtain the name of the representative you speak with for accurate outcome.
Amerigas contract changed without notification - tank rental fees
In 2016 we signed a contract with Amerigas. Details of the tank rental fees were $200/annually unless you purchased 50% of the tanks capacity in propane per year.
So, our tank is 1,000 gallons, if we purchased 500 gallons/year then the fee was waived.
We usually use on average around 800 gallons a year. in 2021 we only had 1 fill and I received a tank rental bill for $265 and I assumed it wasn't more than 500 gallons so I paid it. Last month I received another tank rental bill for $325, reviewed my contract details and reviewed my purchases from 2021 and 2022 and found that in 2021 we had 1 fill for 800 gallons and this year we had 2 fills for 1000 gallons. So neither year should we have been charged a tank rental fee, let alone more than $200.
Contacted Amerigas CS today and was told we didn't meet the minimum gallon usage, so I asked what the minimum gallon usage was and was told 2000 gallons/year. I was having difficulty understanding the person I was speaking with and didn't feel they had a good grasp on the topic. She did say they would waive the tank rental fee for the bill outstanding this year.
I contacted the # of the account manager that I signed my contract with and he is no longer with the company, but the person I spoke with said she would forward my information over to the local office and they would contact me.
I guess I'll be investigating buying my tank out. That tank rental fee clearly is going to keep increasing year by year. I also want an explanation of how and when the contract changed without notification or my signature. They didn't provide notification of the changes, nor did they allow customers to evaluate the changes and be able to decide if they wanted to remain a customer.
Desired outcome: I would like a call back from the local Amerigas office to allow me to obtain pertinent details as to when the contract changed, what the current contract details are and procedure and cost to buy my propane tank.
Same just happened with my property. Our community has 500 gallon tanks. We are working on getting an estimate of how much the average usage is per year for our homes, because there has to be some limit to the requirement. Also, ours told us our requirement was 1000 gallons per year based on the policy. However, I argued that even if the double capacity limit is justifiable, the policy says double “water capacity”, which means only 80% of the tank size may ever be filled. They did not agree, but noted that I am disputing the charge.
Amerigas confirmed expedited 3-day delivery, automated phone call confirmation and they canceled the order
On December 28, 2022, I placed an Expedited 3-day delivery (with accompanying $200 fee + $130 leak test), and on December 29, I received an automated call "your delivery is scheduled for tomorrow" — no time window, just "tomorrow". I called Customer Service (CS) immediately, spoke with someone who I told I needed a call before the delivery because I live 45 minutes away from the delivery address. CS assured me they would list that in their notes, and asked me what time frame, which I gave 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. December 30, delivery due date based on the call, no word/calls, and now on Amerigas' site at 11:40 p.m., no scheduled deliveries appear. They erased the pending delivery! Also, I chatted during the day with another rep, and called and spoke with another rep. In all cases — December 29 and twice live December 30, plus the chat — was assured delivery was due "today as soon as possible". Does anyone know if I can try and get another company to fill Amerigas tanks? Or do I need to get that company's tanks?
Desired outcome: Delivery December 31, which would have been the 3rd day in a 3 day expedited original delivery scheduled (without the higher 1-day expediting fee)
UPDATE - They DID deliver the gas as scheduled on December 30, BUT did not call me ahead of time so I could meet them there, as I confirmed twice was supposedly in the order.
Lack of propane delivery
Amerigas neglected to deliver propane to the main house as scheduled on 12/7/22 even though they were able to deliver to the 2 smaller tanks on the adjacent property, which we also own. You never came back with a delivery. On 12/28/22 we ran out of propane completely. We were told that we would get an expedited delivery on 12/29/22. We were PROMISED a delivery. I am on hold as I write with your so called Customer Service, waiting to speak to a supervisor or Delivery Coordinator after being tolled that I will not be getting a delivery now until 12/31! According to the log note from the delivery team, they have run out of fuel, and need to return to Amerigas to refuel. I have been on hold now for 31 minutes, and counting.
Meanwhile, I have had no heat, no hot water, am unable shower, cook on the stove, wash dishes or clothes. My husband & I have had multiple conversations with your Customer Service, which by the way, just hung up on me.
I am extremely dissatisfied with Amerigas and how they are treating this situation: a situation YOU created and appear not to want to rectify.
Desired outcome: Propane delivery today, 12/30/22 and a discount for the inconvenience as well as payment for the additional electricity charges I am accruing as I have to run multiple space heaters 24/7 so the pipes won't freeze.
Propane tank never removed after 65 days of original scheduled service
Called to cancel account and have the tank removed on 10/21/22.
New company installed the new tank on 10/26/22 but had to remove Amerigas' tank and put it in my side yard.
After repeated weekly calls to have the tank picked up it's been setting in my side yard now for 65 days and counting.
All calls go to a call center, and I get the same response every time "We can't schedule service from our system". So, are they only providing lip service?
Desired outcome: Tank needs to be removed and a refund issued for the gas remaining in the tank.
