I did a wire transfer using bank of america in baltimore MD johns hopkins branch to my own account in India using SWIFT codes. I was told that india is a slow to pay country and it takes about 3 weeks and no investigations would be don't till then. It has been 2 and a half months and it hasn't gone through. My bank in india has not received any information regarding this from bank of america and the bank of america is not willing to help. Every time i contact them they tell me that they are sending e-mail to the bank in india to find the status and that the money is in india and nothing can be done about it and it is possible that i lose my money. I have no clue as to how to go about it.

Bank of America lowered my personal credit card from 25k to 18k limit and I have 17.5k on that card. Now I am so close to the limit it makes my debt ratio look bad. They also increased my interest rate on my small business card from 13.24 to 26.99%. My credit score is in the mid 700's and I have never been late on a payment and always pay way more than the minimum. I have been a customer of BOA for a very long time and have all of my bank accounts with them. I am thinking of transferring all my debt to other cards and closing all my accounts with them. This is no way to treat loyal customers. Keep me posted on the status of a class action law suit. I'm in!

After receiving our VISA card May 2017 we were encouraged to use it to enhance our new business of which we did; remodeling, new fixtures and such. After paying $50 to $100 over and above the required minimum payment and never paying late or missing a payment we were informed that our interest rate is to almost double. The excuse from VISA customer service was that we are not paying off the debt aggressively enough. I asked if that was the case why would they not require a larger monthly payment? They said that would not help the situation. I asked what amount of payment would be satisfactory to avoid this shake down and she said she was not in a position to tell me the required amount. So Bank of America VISA is basically extorting a larger interest rate out of us because we have been paying our debt plus some and have made timely payments. If this is not resolved we will pay off the debt in full and transfer all of our corporate accounts out of this mafiaso organization. What a disgrace these people are.

With the check 21 system...checks deposited to my Bank of America account are still being held for 10 days. I will call and get verification from my clients that the money has been deducted from there account...yet, BOA still holds MY MONEY and will not let me withdraw...let me be clear, BOA has my money but will not let me use it...is this illegal? If not, we need to make it illegal. What was the check 21 system put into place for if not for faster, better access to our money. I got my statements for 2017 out and I ran over 150, 000.00 through my account...would I not be a valued customer at this point? At what point am I a valued customer? Well, nothing left to do but close my account and switch banks...too bad for you BOA!

Having worked 2years at MBNA-BOA, here' smy 2 cents to help out. (if it does..)

The thing about BOA closing accounts unexpectedly is all about risk factor. Higher balances tend to be harder to pay off or longer to pay off. The idea of borrowing money is to pay back as quickly as possible.
Understanding that payments are made on a monthly basis in good faith doesn't necessarily mean you are paying "good enough" for them. If you keep making the simple minimum payment rather than doubling or tripling the payment over a year or so, banks tend to lean towards that "risk" factor I mentionned. Credit cards are considered "unsecure' loans thus making credit card companies a little paranoid...

Now, about rates...o ye thy damned rate!
Terms and agreements state clearly that rates can be increased without notice. The increases can be due to cost of funds (cost of doing business etc...it costs money to give money!) Cost of funds usually only goes with rate of prime or economy. The other rate increase can be due to, and you probably won't like it if it happens, risk based repricing.
Your credit history with cards is kept in check by credit watchdogs (Equifax or Transunion, in Canada). If something dings your credit report in a bad way, either because you've revolved a high balance for numerous years or your payments history lacks good faith, that can trigger alerts to credit card companies that you're a risk and the bank needs to cash in before you cop out or file bankruptcy. YES I understand that some people out there are good payers but still, banks don't know that 100% about you, they always assume the worse. That's how they make money.
In MOST cases, you can ask for the rate to be lowered to something more sensible. "risk based repricing" rates will almost always end with .98% or .97% instead of the regular .99%

Hope this helps you understand a little, I for one didn' t have a clue about credit until i worked for MBNA-BOA.

Cheers!

I am not sure how to classify this blog so I will just call it a vacation gone bad. And I guess I should tell you my trip is being hosted by the US Embassy in Manila and Bank Of America. But I guess this review is extended to the 100's of government officials (US and Philippines) who have refused to take a report on many FDIC crimes. Any way here it goes.

It is now January 2017 and I was busy with the last details of my wedding trip to Tabaco City, Philippines. And as anyone needs to do before taking such a trip, I called Bank of America to tell them of my upcoming plans. I also talked about my concerns about being able to access my Social Security Disability payments while being abroad. It was explained by a very kind customer service lady which atms I should use and she explained that using machines with certain symbols would avoid any excessive service fees. She then assured me I would have no problems and if I did, I could contact them via their 800 number.. At the end of our conversation I told her that I had no idea of how long I would be staying in the Philippines. But I assured her that I would contact the bank when I had an address to give them. So anyway I left the US in January 2017. I Arrived in Manila nervous as hell about a wide range of issues but at least I was secure in the knowledge that I had a guaranteed income. Here in the Philippines a small payment even like SSD makes you rich. Honestly I was kind of hoping that if it was cool here I would stay. At least until my wife's Visa was done. My wife Bless and I were married on February tenth 2017 and life was great. But like many new marriages some times there is trouble with in laws.

And I was learning my in laws had bad affiliations with many criminal elements such as the NPA.(New Peoples Army) One brother in law is being sought after by the military. A sister in law who still resides in Tabaco is involved in much of the local street crime, scamming Americans via the Internet and is well connected from a former job as a reporter. Another sister in law is wanted by the Philippine government for embezzlement and is currently living in Saudi Arabia on a fraudulent passport. And between the lot of them they claim to have connections with bank managers, mayors, and the former Governor of Albay, not to mention local judges and many police officials. And from what I have seen at least parts of their claims are true. I had one major argument with my mother in law when she said she would like to shake Osama's hand. But then saying it's her life's dream to go to America. This was the last time I would see her until, the birth of our child.

Anyway we rented a big house and started to plan our lives. And due to our family problems we planned on leaving Tabaco City as soon as possible. Little did we know, February would be the last time I would see a full SSD payment. From that point forward half or more of my payments went missing from my account for the next 15 months. Money was being stolen even from a negative balance month after month. In the US it was not possible to overdraft an account solely by ATM transactions. Come on bank how could you let that happen? Well anyway, back to my trip.
We then learned of the happy news that my wife was pregnant and I was taking very ill. This condition worsened during the months that followed. But even through such hardship we got by. You can only ask my wife how. But things like going to Manila and keeping my visa up to date were just not possible. And good luck trying to save money for a baby on the way. Yes we got by living in complete poverty. We even lived in a house that got condemned and trust me condemned is a much different standard in the Philippines than in the US.
Life went on like this until two days before my daughter was born. And thats when my sister in law showed up after many months, raising concerns about my wifes pregnancy. She then talked us into going to a hospital by the name of Jaime B. Berces Memorial Hospital because the administrator is a close friend of hers. If only we stuck with our OBs' instructions.

So we went with my sister in law to her friends hospital and several hours later my wife gave birth by emergency c-section. Do you know what its like to hold your child for the very first time? The pride, the joy, that pure sweet emotion that just can't be put into words. I don't care how long you went to school or how many words you know. You just can't. And for that short time all my problems were forgotten. Little did I know that 3 days later my baby girl would be taken as collateral on a the hospital bill. And the word collateral is being more than polite. .We were prisoners, armed guards and the works. I could fill a book of the events that took place but suffice it to say that four days later I would be on the floor in the fetal position crying like a newborn myself because I had no idea where my wife and kid were.

The main players at the hospital were the hospital administrator, my mother and sister in law's working for a darker end. My sister in law, Cresther, who is in Saudi can only tell you what that is. The hospital administrator and my in laws worked in tandem using threats and blackmail trying to get me to leave or pay extortion money in order to keep from being deported. But their deepest wish was to change my daughter's birth certificate so they can ship her to Saudi. Then Cresther can gain inheritance from her dying husband. Under Saudi law, I've been told, she cannot inherit any money when she has no children. Also my daughter is worth a lot of money in arranged marriages. For those of you who do not know human trafficking and kidnap for ransom, they are big business in the Philippines. And she needs money in a bad way. Once her husband dies she will have some serious immigration problems of her own.
The events around the hospital lasted about two weeks but in reality we were kind of prisoners for the next year. It's hard to escape when you do not know who the guards are. We could not even go to the store with out getting a text telling us they knew we went out and where. We even got a text demanding to know what the fed ex guy delivered when my daughters passport came. We were in shock most of the time and were lucky to just be able to raise a healthy baby. We were able to learn that my daughter was entitled to get benefits through SSA so we applied over the phone to SSA office in Manila. They sent an investigator to our home in February 2017. We told Alex Eusebio the whole story of my payments being stolen even to that day and what happened at the hospital. He acted like it was all nothing. He wrote down nothing in regards to what we were trying to report. He just did what he came to do and left. Not acknowledging any of the things we have said. We were shocked by that. Reinforcing what was planted in our minds that our situation was nothing.

I posted letters to my Washington senators on their web sites. All I can say on that, is I hope you did not vote for them this last time. Now the bill in question was less than 1000 US dollars. And to add insult to even further injury, our last 200 dollars went missing from my bank while my wife was giving birth .

Then in September Typhoon Milenyo came and destroyed the house we were living in. We took all the money we had and fled to the Embassy in Manila when the roads cleared, fearing that my in laws would make another attempt on our daughter. And the word on the streets were not good for us. So we spent a week getting passed from window to window. Homeland Security said my wife cannot get asylum because I am American. Hmm how about a little consideration then. They could give us special circumstances under our situation. But I guess one would be willing to take a report someplace. The Social Security Administration said they sent my full benefit amount and their responsibility ends there. But they track down lost checks whats the difference? And never mind the fact I reported the thefts many times and they did not even stop the deposits from going in to my hemorrhaeging account. Even though I had a safe account already set up. For some reason it took three months to update their records. And when I tried to complain they explained how that would be giving me special treatment and I would basically have to wait like every body else..

American Citizens Services told me I can take my daughter to America any time. I then asked him what about my wife. The guy looked me straight in the eye with a smile and said “what about her” He was the only American I got to see at the US embassy. And my wife was standing right there and then burst into tears. I was never ashamed of my country until that very moment. He then passed our case off to a lower worker. Who then gave us the Tabaco City police telephone number. Did I mention that Tabaco City was in a state of calamity because of the typhoon? Never mind the fact that my in laws have many contacts at that office. What do you think they could do about Bank of Amerikano? We also went to the Bank of Amerikano in Manila. All they would say is that they only handle corporate accounts and they will not discuss my account. And when I grew frustrated with them they threw us out. No one cares that a traveler can have his bank account fleeced every time he puts his Visa Check card in the machine then be held hostage and be trapped at his vacation destination for what looks like very possibly the rest of our lives. It seems like someone should care just a bit. I guess US government wants to track all the other people's money but are not concerned to whathappens to US treasury money. At least they could have picked up a pencil ...any of them. They sent us to the wolves, broke, homeless and tired.

While in Manila we also sent a battery of letters to the bank, both my Washington senators (again), Fox News, and Bill O'Reilly and the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, Senate Committee on Banking and Finance and Vice President Cheney, US Ambassador Kristie Kenney, Mike Enriquez of GMA-7, Julius Babao of ABS-CBN and many more. Out of all the people I mentioned the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, Senate Committee on Banking and Finance and Vice President Cheney were the only respondents. They requested our mailing address but unfortunately at that time we did not have any address to give. Our house was just destroyed by super Typhoon Milenyo and we had just fled to Manila for help. We responded to the vice presidents intern Rose Folsom once again stating we had no address and that we were in serious danger. I guess they did not feel a need to respond to our many pleas. Several letters later Rose Folsom did send an email requesting I take her off my contact list. I have the dated letters of most of the people we contacted and it is a very long list.

With no more options we took the bus for what was left of our home. In the month that followed, my baby girl got very sick and lost much weight due to us not being able to buy her milk. But the following payday with my payments safe in a bank other than Bank of Amerikano, life has potential once again. Then in November, Typhoon Reming came and hit us dead on. We were in the stone age for two months.
So I even contacted my mother Marjorie residing in Kailua Kona Hawaii. I have not had any contact with her since Clinton's famous first term. She seemed happy to hear she has a granddaughter but she was too busy on her two books, Donna Quixote cartoons and condo meetings to even call one person on our behalf. Guideposts must be happy to have such a good Christian as a writer.

My brother sends me angry letters because I was mad at my mother. He says that I am crazy and only seeking attention. And I have no right to play the victim. He then tries to convince my wife the whole thing never happened and I need to get some medication. He then tells me how he is bigger than me now and he wants to kick my ###. I guess he wants to go on Jerry Springer.Mom if you are reading, I hope you finally understand me. I tried to work all this out with you. And you even cut the line with your own very sweet grandchild. As long as we live our lives wrapped up in ourselves, closed off to all other points of view, how can anyone say they are fair? Now being betrayed by even my own family, our mess remains and my daughter is still not completely safe. If I do nothing, I may have a shot of living a long life here. But that seems foolish. People may still be after my daughter. I have made multiple contacts to Bank of Amerikano via email. They said sorry to hear of your problems. The security of my account is important to them and to please join their online banking. The problem with that is I already told them, that option for what ever reason has never worked. Page cannot be displayed.

And people don't fool yourselves by thinking that registering with the embassy will help you. Hell their web site does not even have a contact us. So if you have no family to contact you are truly screwed. Did you know they take Columbus Day off? That was another day in Manila completely in the crapper. But I have to hand it to them; they have the best flushing toilets in the country. And it's not just me folks. I have seen other Americans in various banks holding their Bank cards with the Visa Logo in hand trying to get their own answers as to where their money went.

Day before yesterday my wife met another American guy and the same thing happened to him but in his case for two years. Different results but you can overlay our embassy stories. He called them after Typhoon Reming to ask help for himself, his wife and three kids. Of course they did not even offer him a slice of bread. Come on embassy, how about a little help for a foreigner?

There was a time that Americans would rally to the cause of one of its infant children. But that has all changed now. Our own press only rallies to the aid of the rich. It is not good business to do a story that will hurt one of its sponsors. I think Bank of Amerikano and Visa has advertising and sponsorships in all of the main stream media. Its hard to watch a US sporting event without seeing their blue and red logo some place in the stadium. And its the same with web sites.

After so much time I have given up on the bank ever doing the right thing. I have managed to fix my visa problems but bringing my wife to the US is impossible as it stands now. Because of Bank Of Amerikano's neglect, I have lost all ties in the US. And with out an address the embassy requires 60, 000 dollars in my bank account or a co-signer in the US before they would even consider a visa for my wife. And for me to go back to US to get established and apply for my wife, would take at least 10 years before I could even apply for her visa. Lets get real I have been on disability a long time and I have no work history for the last four years. In todays economy I would be lucky not to wind up on the streets after getting off the plane.
So I guess we will make the best of life here. What other choice do I have? It is my hope that one day this blog will pass the eyes of someone who can help on any aspect of our problems. It seems finding people who, it is not in their best interest to do nothing is very hard. If you want to help and do not know what to do perhaps send an email to anyone who you think may be interested in our story. Hell it would make a good book. Or at the very least pass this page to a friend and tell them to do the same. This, after all, is a fairly simple matter with road blocks every place. Whatever happened to what was in the best interest of a child. I wonder when that measuring tool for moral decisions in a moral society changed?

I was robbed by Bank of America to the tune of $557 in overdraft fees.

I, too, had a horrible experience with Bank Of America due to over-draft fees that accrued partially due to THEIR mistake!

Too long of a story and cause my blood pressure to rise to go into it, but after it was all said and done, I paid over $400 out of pocket after several visits to the bank and almost 11 hours on the phone (mostly on hold and re-telling the situation each time I was transferred to no-where).

They made a mistake, but was told "I should have caught it"?
WTF?

Bank of america
"over draft fees"

My name is trying the best I can to make ends meet!

I try to keep track of my checking account by utilizing the mobile bank with bofa though there is always things pending that aren't real time when you check the account. I believe that i'm not the only one who uses plastic to pay for most everything and I keep a running tally in mind and when in question whether or not there is money in the account I go to the mobile banking site to verify what is available.
Over the past year or two since i've had this account the have raped me for about $3, ooo - $4, 000 at least in "over draft fees" some times this $35. Oo fee is implemented because of a $2.00 oversight, there has been weeks where my check which is direct deposited is completely confiscated by this institution. Some of the time this has happened with a over draw on my part less than 24 hrs. Prior to my check going into there bank through the direct deposit, this isn't right. They know that my check is going in at the same time every week same amount every week, so it seems wrong for them to charge $35. Oo dollars for a $2.00 over draft (Loan) that will be covered with in 12 hours. There should be some sort of limits to what they can high jack, I am on tight rope as far as my budget there isn't any room for errors especially when I make efforts to stay with in my means.
I'm wondering if this is just me that sees something wrong with this or if anyone else feels that they are being taken advantage of. I know that i'm not with out blame if I kept an accurate check register, then maybe I wouldn't have some of these issues, an this is something that i'm working on. Please comment.

Bank of America suddenly upped my interest rate to 27%! I have always paid, each month, more than the minimum due. When I called to talk with someone about lowering the rates, I was told, there is nothing they can do. I am currently going to transfer my remaining balance away from Bank of America and will never do business with these folks again. And we wonder why, as tax payers the government is providing bail outs for corporations such as this?... Bank of America has poor ethics and a bad business sense.

I agree 100% that Bank of America is corrupt. I wonder if some kind of class action suit would work? They constantly charge fees whenever they can. They just recently changed their policy to where the charge overdraft fees even if the online banking shows a positive balance. They delay posting credits to the account to create more overdraft fees, and they deduct the highest debits first then the lowest creating the most overdrafts possible. I really can't believe how corrupt they are. I've been charged thousands of dollars over the last 6 years. I should have closed my account years ago, but everytime it happens, I just can't believe that they would do it again. And recently, the changed their policy to where your account doesn't even have to be in the "red" for them to charge overdraft fees. They have their own behind the scenes system that works to their advantage and I'm certain they make millions a year on fools like me. I have to close my account now but it's such a pain because of all the direct deposits and automated stuff I've got going on with them including merchant accounts etc. I wish Bank of American would have to pay for their greed, not get bailed out by the governments.

The best way to deal with Bank of America is to rent a safety deposit box, buy a fresh fish, put it in the box and leave. This should close the branch down for 2 to 3 weeks. Someone did this with moth balls and B. of A. had to bring in the folks with white uniforms and masks. If you can get a friend or two to put fish in their safety deposit boxes in the same branch as yours, then it will drive them nuts trying to figure out where the smell comes from.
This is legal as they can not limit what you put in your safety deposit box

I was one of those people who played by the rules. I always paid my credit cards on time, and more often than not, I paid over the minimum amount. I had a very good credit score. But none of that mattered, even to companies who had done business with me and/or my husband for years, and every credit card we had either increased our interest rate, or lowered our line of credit. One card that was paid off even closed due to lack of activity. The bill that clamped down on these interest rate hikes and other credit card company tricks came a little too late for me. I can't wait for any of that to go into effect.

Luckily, credit card debt is one of those debts that can be negotiated... but not without hassles and damage to one's credit score. But when a good customer is forced into making minimum payments, which do nothing to pay off their debt, and still have no cash at the end of the month, debt settlement seems the lesser of several evils... the others being total default, treading water for years, or bankruptcy. While you may still be hounded by credit card collection departments for awhile, they eventually stop after being notified that you are in a debt settlement program, and they have to deal with the company you have chosen. This is what I chose to do... and freed up some of the cash I was paying each month.

I believe in paying what I owe... with interest. But I quit caring about my credit score about the same time the credit card companies did. The government has not bailed me out. I haven't received a huge bonus. So I am saving my cash. The credit card companies will get what they are owed in due time. And I am learning to live without credit, for now, and a less than perfect credit score.

I look at this way, if my excellent payment record and my business meant so little to the credit card companies, then someone had to look out for my best interest (no pun intended) ... and not at 27.99%... I knew that someone had to be me.

If you can get friends or family to assist you, picket a branch handing out summaries of your experiences. Put a fish in your safety deposit and go on vacation.

It is MONEY, not monies. When your account is force closed like that is can take up to 8 weeks to get your money that was in your account. The $60 fee was charged because the account was force close like that.

Bank of America is pretty much arbitrarily changing the terms for its credit card holders. In the last 6 months, they lowered my credit limit by $3000 without notice. Curiously, they lower the limit as soon as I pay down the balance.

When I called BoA about this, I was told that they would not increase the credit limit. However, a senior credit analyst and a supervisor suggested that I apply for a secured credit card to get a higher limit. I applied for the secured credit card online, and was promptly rejected. (A secured card carries no risk for the bank, since the credit line is secured by a deposit in the amount of the credit limit.)

When I called to inquire about this the next day, I was told by "George" in the secured credit card department that one could not have two credit cards with BoA. So I asked him how to solve my problem. George told me that he could not solve it because there are two separate departments -- one that deals with my credit card and one that deals with applications for a secured credit card. I asked to speak with someone who could deal with both departments; George told me that there was no one, because they are two separate and unrelated items. When I pointed out that the two issues are related because my application was denied because I currently have an unsecured credit card, George said he was trying to "educate" me.

After reaching an impasse, I asked to speak to his supervisor, and this is where it gets weird. George refused to let me talk to a supervisor, saying there was no supervisor. When I asked if he reported to someone, he gave me a runaround saying that "we all run this department." After five minutes of this bizarre conversation, he finally gave me the name Ken Lewis. Lewis is the President and CEO of Bank of America, by the way -- not a supervisor. Finally, George admitted that there was someone who wrote his evaluations; but he refused to give me a name and refused to let me speak to this person.

Has anyone else been refused when asking to speak with a supervisor? This conversation was just bizarre.

I called BO, automatic system on 06/15/09, I was informed I had $280 avail balance. I used my ATM card for $7.00 for fed-ex and $8.00 for CVS. I was shocked to find out the next day I was charged for $35.00 overdraft fee five times. Because their online payment did not clear my payment for $260 on 06/01/09, which I had assumed it had, because their system misguided me. When I asked why I was given wrong information when I called, I was told their system doesn't know these things accurately all the time. I asked why my charges were approved if I did not have enough funds. Kevin the supervisor sarcasticly answered. "We did you a favor, you should appreciate us! why are you complaining? Don't you know how to be greateful? " Isn't that a rude answer? How is that a favor? You charged me for $185 for $7.00 and $8.00 charge? You failed to give me the correct information! They even mentioned they used to withdraw the funds immediately, but changed that 3 months ago, now wait until the companies cash the checks. They never sent me an info about it! I said ok then, you should have declined the $260 because they decided to cash it more than 2 weeks later. And that I did not even dispute the over draft fee, but 5 of them were not accurate. If you cleared the 260 and charged me overdraft fees for the other charges, that is fine. Or if I did not have 260 because of the $7 and $8 before $260 was cleared, then you charge me overdraft fee for $260.00. But how can you charge me for all of them and more after you keep billing me overdraft charges? They even charged me the fifth overdraft fee because of the fourth overdraft fee they billed me! No reason given, instead, I was yelled at "Look, take us to court if you want, I will even send your term of aggrement to your lawyer! That will be easier for you!" I said I would never use BO again and will open another bank account. Kevin threatened me laughing "We will come after you until we get our over draft payments and make sure your credit is destroyed." My request for the corporation, ceo information was declined. Higher manager was declined, I sent e-mail complaint, that was not responded. Did the congress use our tax dollars to bail out BO so they can use it to train their supervisors to be abusive to their long-time customers? I have been their customer for 10 years.

This is the second time I used the Bank of America new ATM's and had a horrible experience. I went to despoist $450.00 cash and it only took $300.00 of it at first and spit back $150.00. I put the $150.00 back into it and it took the $50.00 and spit back $100.00 advising it was crinkled. It was a new $100.00 bill. It really didn't need to be straitened out, but I rubbed it flat anyway and put it back in. It spit it back out again. I tried this 4 more times with no success, so I figured maybe it was just the ATM, so I went to the ATM next to it after waiting several minutes to complete the transaction. That ATM did the same thing. I tried it several times there with the same results. I then just gave up. It is a good $100.00 bill? These machines are horrible and very time consuming. I don't think it was a smart move on Bank of America. I get off at 6PM from work, so I don't have time to go into a branch. The old machines worked much better. Please give us our old machines back or make something better.

I requested a balance transfer ($10, 000.00) at a rate of about 8% interest with an additional $300.00 one time fee (which was made while I was on the phone with the rep). After 3 months, we realize that there was a problem. After paying 3 times $200.00, (min payment required was about $165.00) my balance was out of whack, and after looking into it, they showed additional fees (ex: payment less then minimum required, etc) and min payment required jumped up to just bellow $500.00. BIG SHOCK! I'm never late and have not missed any payments.

Bank of America explained that the transfer was accidentally made at a cash purchase rate of over 19%. They told me they would fix it right away: if I would pay back the total amount, so they could reverse the transaction... they would then re-transfer the amount back to my account at the rate initially agreed to, and refund ALL the fees.

So, I agreed. While still on the phone with a rep, I transferred money from my savings account to make-up for the difference, then paid back the total balance, about $10400.00+ right away. The rep advised that as soon as the card is reset to zero, the $10, 000.00 will then be transferred back to my account at the agreed 8% rate + $300.00 fee.

The next day, they called me and told me they were not going to approve the transfer anymore. They did refund the $300.00 initial fee, but kept my 3 payments of $200.00 plus another $100.00 or so of interest.

In return... I did not have the money I needed back on my account, it cost me over $700.00 and to top it off... I was advised that my credit line of $20, 000.00 would dramatically be adjusted since the rep thought it was inappropriate and too high to begin with (even though I never had a late or missed payment).

I guess no good deed remains unpunished... this is BoA's way to help boost the economy! Uncool!

They must have run my credit report at least 3 times in less then a week. I bet this won't improve my outstanding credit score either.

I never applied for or asked for a Bank of America Master card. My bank was bought out, and Bank of America sent me one, one day out of the blue. Within a few months BoA was told to close that branch because they owned too many in our stae, so close together. For years, I didn't even use this card, once I did, BoA began to raise the credit limit again and again, tempting me to spend more and more, but I ddidn't.
Finally, after doing some checking on what makes a credit score even beter, I wrote to them and asked them not to raise the credit limit any more on my account with out asking me frst, I just didn't think it looked good. I have never missed a payment or been late ever, on any bill for any reason, ib my lifetime, and I am in my mid 50's and been a BoA customer for years now. My credit score is excellent, I just checked again w/all 3 credit agencies.
First BoA began sending statements late, however, I knew the due date and I always pay them early, I still payed on time, even with BoA's little game of a black out date, where when you pay they claim it was for the month before, not the month you sent it for. Fortunately I never fell for this games of theirs either. Then they told me they were changing my fixed rate of 8% to a variable of 14.24% and so my option was, not to use the card and pay off this debt amount. So, I told BoA I refused to use their card again and would pay it off at the rate of 8% fixed that we agreed to. However, I got a refund on a purchase I made before any of this happened. BoA was going to claim, "Since I used the card after the change date, I had to pay the high rates"..I argued It was a refund, not a purchase and it was still before the change date, of their "sudden" change in terms".( which I feel is a contract breach) I called Senator Dodd. Now BoA has stopped the 14.25% for a "refund", which indeed was NOT a purchase, so I am back to 8% again. To get this I had to take the whole purchase that was made 2 months before any changes to the acount and move it to another card! However, BoA did accept the refunded money from the merchant! This is blackmail.
Now BoA has changed my credit limit to the amount due! This ended any thoughts I may have had of ever using that card again in the future when they end this nonsense, even in an emegency, not that I would at 14.25% variable! Anyone with an excellent credit rating should never pay more then a single digit amount for a credit card, there are too many other banks that would love our business.

I've never paid over a single digit for interest in my life, and why should those of us w/good credit pay higher?
Now, this change of BoA, which I feel is a breech of contract on their part, is becoming lower then low, as they are trying to ruin my credit score. Because of BoA, it "appears to a creditor that I have spent to my limit on my Bank of America Master card", which I didn't do, they lowered the limit on my cards by 50% to the amount due, , "to make more money". Their claim to me on the phone when I called to ask why they were doing this to good customers of many decades, they claimed. "They weren't making enough money on my account"? Until 2017, I rarely used the card and I have in the past shown that I can spend and pay it all off. Now that times are harder and our children need help, I have helped them, and now I am still paying well over any minimums they throw at me, I pay 10% or more each month and I don't feel I owe a lot . I feel given the breach of contract by BoA and their promise, "to not change the terms unless I defaulted, missed a payment, or spent over my limit"..I haven't done any of these things, ever! Bank of America told me on the phone that Chase Bank and Citi Bank we're all going to do the same thing.
If this is the truth, and since they all seem to know this before we Chase Customers are told, isn't this conspiracy between the three banks to defraud their customers? How can one bank anounnce what the others will do and not have spoken to them?

If there is a class action law suit, I want to be part of it. I have heard that since Dodd placed NO ceiling on interest rate caps, and the banks can raise the rates until the new "Consumer credit card Bill" goes into effect as much and as high as they want to, for no reason to anyone, we'll get no help until next year, and by then still no caps, that the Banks will continue to charge as much as they wish to, and we can not even file Bankrupsy, should we ever need to.

But wait, there is more. The three banks are going to now DOUBLE the minimum payments due from us, from 2% and 5% to 10%.or more, due as their new "minimum. So, if you pay 800.00 now you'l be paying 1600.00 soon a month, and since this is their minimum, we are all in trouble.
These means, for me, that my now paying off 10% of the balance monthly will become "only paying the minimum", and further damage my credit rating should I attempt to get a loan to get rid of these slave traders and consumer thugs. Congressman Liberman in my state, had his spokesperson call me on another mater about AIG, Lieberman's office "feels that the companies should be able to charge as much as they want to in interest, and that "Not everyone should have a credit card, and yes what they are doing is fair, "they have to make money too you know". (Lieberman also isn't going to support Obama on Health care either, so be prepared)".

Every one of us should not be defrauded by Banks, lured with low rates, having them raise your credit limit without asking you, then if you ever use it they lower it to amount due, , and if you use it, they throw out their contract with you, they change all rules and ruin a persons credit score, "just because they can" and Congress does nothing to help we the people, After al these senators will tell you, it's "Because they aren't making enough money on our accounts and Banks need to make money too"?

Please, Include me in if a class action law suit opens. The Banks borrowed easily from us and we will pay for their "loan" in the near future, count on it. These three banks need to be stopped and some class action lawyer should step up on this one for the people of America, especially those of us who didn't break a single rule.! Not that the rest of you who they hurt shouldn't go after them also.

After 4 years with no fees... All of a sudden the bank charges me 5.95 for a monthly service fee. As this is an account strictly for auto bill payment and debit card use it is well accounted for to the dime. Well, the fee put the account in the red this month because I never expected a fee last month... So a $5 mcdonalds cost $40 thanks to a $35 nsf fee. If that wasn't enough, this month they charged $8.95 for the monthly service fee... They increased them in june... And again more ridiculous nsf fees.

No worries... Closing this account and going to regions bank... Where free checking = free checking.

Excellent customer service? Good business sense during these economic times? A way to thank taxpayers for TARP funds?
I banked with BOA for 27 years, had my personal and corporate accounts with them. I have a 22 person medical practice in northern California. In April my CPA called and informed me that the corporate card through BOA was undergoing a rate hike, from 6.99 to a proposed 22% He suggested I review my personal card and yes, it was slated for a 100% rate increase. Keep in mind that I pay the balance as incurred, as well as the corp card. It was the principle of the matter. I did call the dispute line and was told, any new purchases would fall under the higher rate. A month later, no changes had been made to either card and after a series of calls, the implication was that I never made the call. The interesting point is that the corporate card was conserved yet my personal card was not. Yet the call I made covered both cards. I called BOA's service line and without going on as to the value of my accounts and so on, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told .. "I would have to call another number the following day". I called my local branch and was told they could do nothing. My next stop was to my secondary bank, a local savings and loan. I arranged a time to open additional accounts and close the BOA accounts in full. The net effect of BOA's arrogance? And do they deserve anyone else's business? I think not.
I have sent several letters concerning this fraud to local, state and federal representatives. I have called consumer affairs as well as our department of corporations. I may be one voice, but I will try and make this fraud known to those that can act.

I called bank of america to ask why my monthly payments keep going up. I have never been late, always paid before bill is due, They gave me 3 different reasons transferring me to perso to person, I finally ended up witn Robert Sweeden credit mamager who told me in order for me to get a rate I would have to make double agressive payments, Keep in mind I have never been late, Making double payments is not legal, if they continue to increase my payments i will have to go to a legal system to stop them, C, toles fort washington maryland

we went to make a cash deposit of $1200 and after we put our money in the machine it shut down and said temporarily out of service. so we of course freaked out and went in the bank and they said they posted a credit for the amount to our account and would have us a new debit card issued because the machine ate our card. well it has been over a month and we still dont have a card and we got a letter from BOA stating that they never found any record of the deposit or the cash and somehow the survailance cameras were misteriously not on at that time and the card was never recovered. we have filed several complaints and are going to have to hire a lawyer! BOA SUCKS and they are theieves. you should be able to trust your bank with your cash!

I went to deposit my paycheck on friday @ noon. They said I could only have access to $100 until tomorrow. This irritated me but I let it go. The next the day the money wasn't there so I called them. They said that due to my lack of deposits with them, they were going to hold my paycheck for 5 days. I am a new customer with them. I told them I needed the money because I had 3 young children and need to buy food. They didn't care. I could see their point if it was a personal check, but it was my paycheck, from a local business. What I support my family on. I told them that I would be canceling my acct as soon as I can get my direct deposit that I had just set up change over to a different bank. I also told them I would tell everyone I know and tell the public in every way possible not to use their bank and if they were, to cancel. The associate I spoke to refused to let me speak to a supervisor. They said in their huge booklet they sent me with it states in their they could hold anyone's money at their discretion. Don't ever use this bank. They are heartless, money grubbing, useless people that waste the oxygen that God gave them.

Can you believe that I can't get my crack smoking, drug dealing, brain dead ex's name off my line of credit = - even tho he or his druggy friends ran up the loc by using some floozy with fake id as me to run up my loc into the thousands? And further, his name is not even on the deed? How can you have a second mortgage on a house that isn't even in your name?

Option 1: for 2 years now I have been fighting to get his name removed. The last letter they sent me told me if I could just fax a death certificate to them, they could remove him! A death certificate? Is that a suggestion that I go kill him? I don't even know where in the world he is, much less if he is dead - or even if anyone would know he's dead.

Option 2: close the line of credit and requalify. Well, in these economic times, I will never qualify for as much. Further, guess what they want to close the line of credit:::: his permission!

Wtf do these people need when I have been the only one paying this mortgage and loc for 8 years? Please tell me who to talk to if there is such a person.

To be frank, your personal relationship (or lack thereof) with your ex has nothing to do with the fact that his name is on the loan. Under those situations they cannot just cancel his name at your request because he evidently pulls just as much weight as you do regarding responsibility of the loan agreement. Would you like it if he got your name kicked off the loan?- probably not. This is not a bank issue although I must admitt I am amused at the death certificate request issue.

I thought these days banks treasure their good reliable spenders but I was so wrong after talking to their customer service one night last week. Apparently part of their credit card business (not sure about the others because I really dont like BofA all along) is based on "gotcha, ###!".

I was literally $13 over my 20K limit in May when I paid a club membership that's worth 16K thru my their visa card. Then I was slapped on a $39 fine, which I complained about and got it refunded, but then I was charged $49 followed by another $14.

This bank is not for real. It's clear to me part of their core business model is built on their clients' carelessness instead of their credit worthy, nor relationships. The "I win, because you screw up, ha ha" childish mindset explains why banks like this are crooks and should not be rewarded with any business whatsoever, and their arrogant customer service, let alone a bail out.

I spent close to 100K through them since May 2017. Knowing this bank is such a mean bank I should have taken the business to somewhere else. Shame on me.

It's never too late. Just closed this thing once and for all. No regret from either side.

Bye bye BofA. I hope your chapter 11 is just around the corner.

I closed a business account with Bank of America this past Spring after years of bad business practices by the bank. In May they sent me a check for the balance left in the account. Now they are claiming that the account is overdrawn by $35.00, that they are referring the matter to the banking industry's collection agency and that by doing so I wouldn't be able to open another account at a different bank.

I must say that I'm impressed by their idiotic insolence. They have raised inane incompetence to the level of art form.

By the way, BofA, I've had an account at another bank since January. They may not be prefect but they treat their customers a whole lot better than BofA.

I had a credit card that was bought by Bank of America (BAC). The card had a 7.8% fixed interest, and I'd had this card for over a dozen years. I have an excellent credit rating and have never missed a payment. In June '09 they raised my interest rate to 12.99%, retroactively - which included my $11, 000 debt, not just future purchases. When I called and said I wanted my old rate reinstated, they told me it was an across the board increase. I was so pissed that I refinanced my house (the 15 yr Country-wide mortgage had also been bought by BAC - and I figured if they could do it to my credit card they could figure out a way to do it to my mortgage). The 10 yr re-fi was at a lower rate and included $11, 000 to pay off the credit card. I'm now paying $2 less each month on my mortgage, will pay it off sooner, have no credit card debt, and BAC lost two excellent credit risks (albiet very small).

They screwed themselves when they got greedy, helping to cause the current financial crises, and expect their customers to help pay for their mistakes. Not me. My new credit card is from my local credit union. I wish everyone could do something similar.

I have a similar story, so I refinanced my 15 yr BoA mortgage with another company at a lower rate for 10 yrs and included enough money to pay off the BoA credit card debt. I pay less each month than before, have no credit card debt, and BoA lost 2 accounts with a very low-risk customer. Although I can't say I screwed them, I can say they didn't get to screw me. I now have a credit card from my local credit union.
