I had a customer service rep. Contact me 2 weeks before I moved to another address, offering me a "wonderful" calling package that would "fit all my needs, and save me money". I inquired about moving service, and asked about any fees for switching residences. There were none, or so I was told... I was also supposed to have unlimited nationwide calling, for less than I was paying through verizon. Well, I received my bill for $255.58 the other day. What happened to $45.00 plus tax? I had also given a day for my move, which after I consented to their service, was told that I would be charged $60.00 for them to disconnect my phone line from my old place, and reconnect to my new place. Um, excuse me... I was told there wouldn't be a charge, since they knew up front that I was moving within 2 weeks of signing up for service. I called to find out why I was being charged for long distance, and was told it was due to using dial up internet services. Those are not included in your "unlimited nationwide calling", I was asked when I signed up what was my primary use for the phone, I explaned that I was a student, so I need not just phone but internet services also. Why would I sign up for services that would cost me more, and include less? I wouldn't... And I didn't... Also I told them I was moving on the 1st of may, I have long distance charges on my phone that not only did I not make, but I also have long distance calls from days after I moved. Explain that one to me. Basically they have crummy customer service, and can't even put you on with a supervisor, but they will rape you, of anything they can, and try to make it your fault.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I receivced a shut off notice for their services due to non-payment. It was worded that if payment wasn't made "on or before" May 28, 2009 the service would be shut off. Like so many of us in Michigan waiting for that paycheck to pay bills that were once much easier to pay when we had two incomes; I thought I had until the 28th to pay my bill. I woke up on the 28th to no phone and when I paid it on May 28th - the man I talked to assured me it should NOT have been shut off until the next day at least and there should be no reconnect charge of $59.00. When I received the next statement there was the fee and when I called to question this they were really condesending and I was informed that I was mistaken in how I read it. Then I was told that it has NEVER been misread before by ANYONE. I tried to explain that obviously if it was misread by me, than at least one person made a misread. My question, is - is this trully a misread, or are they trying to sandbag me out of $59.00? I was on the impression that on or before meant I had on that date or before to make payment.
I've always gotten a great bargain from them, they treat me well and the customer service has been helpful. Not perfect, but I like how you don't have to go through 12 menus to get where you want to go, and they always seem like the want to help. I've sent a number of friends here, and none of them have regretted the switch.
I've been a clear rate customer for well over 10 years. They've always been fair, responsive and helpful to me. When I needed service, they had a repairman come out on a Saturday and fix my phone...no problems. My Mom referred me onto Clear rate and I too have recommended them to others. All have been well pleased with Clear Rate.
these ppl are crooks! good service or not they rip ppl off daily,
This company calls up customer, tells them that ‘they are’ your local phone company and bamboozles you into their service, with a one yr contract too boot. Good service or not, they rip people off every day! I called them once and the lady on the other end of the line was very sweet when she answered the phone, I simply asked (inquired) do you guys have contracts? She got very stern and asked “who is this”? No joke! That right there told me all I needed to know about this so called company. They should be taken down! They are classic crooks in the 21st century and shouldn't be supported in any way.
same thing happen to me.
It happened to us as well. Now we don't have internet they are not helping us anyways
I have had my long distance shut off twice & I wasn't even 10 days past the due date. I get a letter afterward saying they will suspend my long distance on or after the next due date. Which is about 3 weeks later but it's already suspended. I was charged 2 $25.00 reconnect fees because I have a phone & a fax. She said it was because the bill came over $200.00 in the next billing cycle. That next payment wasn't even due yet. I asked her where does it tell me that when i asked for your services? She explained it was on the back of the telephone bill. Well I looked & it didn't mention anything about it. She then states, well now you know. I told her that would be like me doing a service for her & not letting her know about it & charge her for it. She tried to make a deal to drop one of the $25.00 reconnect fees or sign a 1 year contract & they will waive both fees. How crooked. I had verizon before & i never had my long distance shut off for paying a week or slightly there after the due date. They are scammers. Don't deal with this company. It may be seem cheaper but they will get you with fees somewhere along the line.
A man called and stated that he was from Clear Rate Communications and that Frontier had authorized him to call and let me know that they would be my new landline provider and that I would have a lower bill since they would now be providing the service that Frontier had purchased from Verizon earlier this year. The new rate was NOT a promotional rate and would never go up as long as I kept the same services that I currently have. I asked him about my internet and TV service that I have on the same bill, on a bundle price. He stated everything would stay the same, I asked him how that would happen since my internet comes through my landline phone, he says oh, the only difference you will see is that you will get 2 bills, one from us and one from Frontier. I said hold on, then how is that going to work on my bundle price since I get a discount for having 1 bill and all of the services on 1 bill? he then states well you only get a $5 a month discount right, I told him no it is significantly more when you figure out the discounst for all 3 services, phone, internet and TV. He then was like well I guess you are better keeping what you currently have then, Have a nice Turkey Day and hung up...That tells me it was nothing but a SCAM so watch out and be weary...ASK QUESTIONS...if it seems to good to be true, it probably is...I called Frontier and told them about the phone call I got and they put a notice in my account that I did NOT authorize any changes today on my account and to call me before any changes are made to my account.
is there a way to shut my services off? Same experience, or I am stuck in this contract? I also still have to pay my original bill with century link, I feel like I have been totally screwed and I am on disability so I don't know what to do at this point.

clear rate is company who has bee scamming many people including myself. when callinmg for land phone service i was told to send a check up front to have my service turned on. this would happen in 5 to 7 days after recieving the check. this began on 10-4-10. i have made multiple phone calls asking what was happening and recieve a different excuse each time as to why i do not have service. i have spoken to at least 5 different people to try and work this out. i have requested my money back as i want the work order cancelled. i am still waiting for my refund! here we are in the last of december. to those of you who are interested i have contacted the better business bureau and encourage you to do the same! we need to make thie company take responsibility for their failures!
This clear rate communication is the worst thing EVER! I had verizon and this freaking clear rate took us to this service. Freak this ###. and it has really bad service. My suggestion to you guys is use verizon rather than this Clear rate. You will be a lot happier. This service is very expensive too.
My friends and family have this service and we are happy with it. We get unlimited calling and everything is included. Besides having static on the line a couple of times in the past couple of years, there haven't been any problems.
This is a predatory company that takes advantage of the elderly and then threatens and harasses them. They should be ashamed of themselves. Five months of trying to unravel their harassment of my handicapped, 90-year old father has not resulted in any kind of fair treatment from them. We paid them off so they wouldn't give dad another stroke, but i consider those who take advantage of babies and the elderly to be true ### of the earth.
We went on vacation for a month and asked Clear Rate to disconnect our phone service until we returned. They told us there would be a reconnection charge around $40.00. So we told them to discontinue service. We went and bought MagicJack and installed it on our computer. However, since we have Satellite service, the MagicJack didn't work properly. So we went on live chat with MagicJack and they told us our problem was the Satellite. So, they told us to return it to where we bought it and also we paid MagicJack for a 5yr. plan which they agreed to disconnect and refund our money. We also were refunded our money for the purchase of MagicJack. So, we are now without land line phone service which we need as we live in the country. However, we do have a cell phone but our cell phone gets no service where we live. So we get in our vehicle drive to where we get a signal and call Clear Rate and ask to have our service reconnected. What a run around that was. This was on a Friday and I was told it would take one to five days to have the service turned back on. Monday came, no service yet, Tuesday is now here and still no service. This is crap! It sould never take this long to turn service back on. We were also told there would be a fee to reconnect the service and that we had to keep the service for one year or there would be a penalty fee for turning their service off. Theives!
Clear Rate Communications called me today - hiding behind "unknown" number. They ( she ) made it sound like they were already my phone provider, suggesting that they now provided service for Frontier! I was confused and tried to get her to explain as I had gotten no notice from Frontier they had been sold or my service sold to another company. She kept telling me what great rates they have and that they are the same as Frontier and AT&T etc.
I informed her I was on the Indiana do not call list and she said she wasn't selling anything ( other than trying to get me to sign up for their services ) Very confusing since it was implied that I was already their customer!
A reputable company would never hide behind an "unknown" number. And clearly with all the others speaking in the background it was a company soliciting for them and they do not wish to pay fines for calling all the frontier customers in Indiana on the do not call list.
They seem to be a shady business. If they want customers, then advertise the good old fashioned way - newspapers, TV and radio!
called my wife and talked a bunch of stupid stuff and now they are charging us for service we did not ask for---and will not cancel it because they say we are in a contract---
We have been without our phone for 6 days now & every time we contact Clear rate they tell us we will have a phone the next day.Yesterday when we contacted them they said we would have service between the time of the call & 10 pm.This is day 6 & still no phone As far as we are concerned Clear Rate sucks as a phone provider..
No service on our phone for 6 days with a promise of next day fix & still nothing. We have medical problems and we need a reliable phone service.
This company provides phone service for my business. From the very beginning, our phone service has gone down during business hours on a regular basis. However, on two other occasions, our primary phone number has been "accidentally redirected" to what I can only describe as some sort of prank hotline. Customers that attempted to contact the business were greeted with a random insult such as "Your fingers are too fat to dial", followed by a dial tone. Many of our customers have been convinced that my employees answered the phone in this way, and will never call us
again. On both occasions, this lasted several hours. After the first incident, Clear Rate Communications informed me that this was a "freak accident" and guaranteed it would never happen again. After the second incident, they told me that "service interruptions such as this happen and we cannot guarantee it will not reoccur in the future". They refuse to acknowledge the difference between a service outage and our customers experiencing vulgar messages. I made a huge mistake in signing a three year contract with them (which they refuse to release us from). If you are considering Clear Rate Communications for your business phone service, I urge you to choose another carrier.
We had a very similar experience with a caller ID that said Texas when we are in Michigan and constant loss of phones. This is the worst most incompetent company ever. They won't let us out of our contract even though our service never works properly. Phones and internet are nonstop going down. I am still fighting through the BBB. Wish me luck. Our wiring looks like a drunk person installed it. Grrr
I got a call from someone misrepresenting themselves as my phone company. Said they could save me money by managing my local and long distance service. I was assured my voicemail and internet would not be interrupted. Everything would stay the same with the exception of receiving a separate bill for the phone. I explained the I had a phone and internet bundle but they assured it would not be a problem. I went on a 4 day vacation an tried to get into my voicemail and found it was a different system. When I got home I had no internet access so I called MY REAL phone company and they informed me that my account has been closed my number was ported over to Clear Rate. Called clear rate and had the port my number back to my phone company and told them if they harass me I would take them to court. I got one bill and didn't pay it. I had no other communication from them until yesterday 1 year and 7 months later and now they want 100 dollars for breaking the contract. WOW
Why are you on my credit report as if I owe you money when Ii have never had any kind of service through you?
I owe you nothing! I have never heard of this company!
I just was contacted by a representative from this company the number came up Sioux Falls, SD. [protected]. The man stated that they had took over Verizon and he was authorized by Verizon to call me and lower my bill. When I told him that I was looking his company up and the reviews were terrible, he said well look up Verizon and see what you get; I said I know the company is no good and he continued to push the sales pitch. I finally said that I would be reporting his company to see if they were legit. He got really nasty and said well some people do not want to save money and I will just move on from here. I called Verizon and they said they had not authorized any company to call their customers, and then I was advised to call my local law enforcement agency. I reported the call and number and it was documented.
I am a Verizon (FIOS) customer. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill from Clear Rate Communications for $56.99 (month of July 2018). I immediately called and told them I would not pay the bill. I also told him I would contact Verizon. After contacting Verizon and informing them of this situation, I was informed that Verizon still had my phone service and my number had not been transferred to Clear Rate Communications. Wow, was I confused; I then called Clear Rate Comm. back and got a different customer rep. I repeated all the previous actions and was told that they have a tape recording of my request to make the transfer; at that time I requested to hear the recording. The recording started out with a series of Yes/No questions of which I answered "Yes." The voice sounded like mine but there was no difference in voice inflection. After the yes/no questions, I was heard saying my name, address, and phone number - it was my voice, but I NEVER made this phone call nor answered any questions or gave my personnel data. I then made the mistake of telling the lady it was me (that is the mistake), but I never made the call - at this time I am very confused (again); i.e., how did this happen? I asked her if she had any follow-up correspondence showing I made the request --- her answer was "Yes" and she would go get it for me. I asked her for the extra correspondence because companies usually send out information that requests your acknowledgement that you made the request. Approximately 5 (five) minutes later she came back and informed me that the additional correspondence had been lost. In addition, I was informed that my account would be canceled -- smells like a SCAM to me. I highly suggest you do as just did -- I notified my local Better Business Bureau. Also, I just found out that my local Police Dept. has a special section that deals in Scams - tomorrow I am going to see them. I believe that, hopefully, the FBI will get informed because this scam was done across state lines -- they are in Michigan and I am in the South. Please do not allow these people to get away with this --- save your bill and contact the Better Business Bureau.
I called and cancelled and they keep billing saying my new company needs to tell them! Why not the person paying the bill tell them? They were so rude and said I should have kept calling making sure my Internet company called them They told me to throw away my router so I never dreamed they would send this high bill!
They stole my internet from my internet provider, they charged me for SIM cards never even activated. And in one mI think my bill was 652? What the hell ever. Iam contacting a Attorney and Iam prosecuting this company . They are a fraud. And they are a rip off and they steal your information! Beware
My landline has been out of service or interrupted from the initial date of May 21, 2019 ongoing interruption as of date!
I'm a single mom of 2 small children. I have Graves Disease and I'm losing my ability to see. This company came in put a new internet line in, but broke the phone leaving me no way to call out. When I call the employees just laugh at me. I have had no out going phone service for week and I had to call another company to repair the broken line. Stay away from this company, they do not care about their customers at all.
