CourseHero unfairly disabled my account without any valid reason or explanation about why they did it. I have been working for almost two years with CourseHero, and this was the first time I experienced this weird incident.

On March 9, I received an email telling me that my tutor account has been temporarily disabled because, according to them, they have identified unusual activity on your Course Hero tutor account that violates our terms of use. They've asked me to submit 3 items to re-verify my account within the next 48 hours, or else my account will be permanently disabled. I have complied and replied. The same day, Jess, from the tutor support team, replied that, after reviewing the documentation and information I had provided, they had re-enabled my account. I regained access to my tutor account on the same day.

I thought everything was resolved until I woke up the next day, March 10, only to receive the same email, concerning the same issue, and asking me the same three items. I was so confused about why this was happening. Still, I complied and resubmitted those three documents. Later that day, I was again told by the same person named Jess that they had re-enabled my account after an evaluation. I thought this was really weird, and something is really wrong with this whole thing.

The next day, March 11, everything was okay. I was able to access the site and answer questions, so I thought it was finally back and the issue was really resolved yesterday. To my dismay, on March 12, I again received the same email from CourseHero. It is the third time, and this is not normal. I just know something is really not right. Again, I submitted the documents requested, expecting the same result. But this time, Jess has replied with different answers. The email was this:

"After conducting a review of your tutor account, we identified activity that violates Course Hero’s Terms of Service." You also provided insufficient materials to verify your identity and/or failed to provide materials within the required timeframe. As a result, your account has been permanently disabled, and you can no longer access Course Hero."

First, I have replied within the 48-hour timeframe they have given me. Second, how is it possible that the same person who evaluated me from the tutor team cleared my account twice and re-enabled it, only to disable it a third time? They said that the decision is final and that no further payment obligations are required by Course Hero. I was shocked and just can't comprehend the whole thing. Like, what game are they playing? This is just not right, and it feels so unfair. There was no definite reason given as to why they reached that conclusion.

If I remember it correctly, my account still has nearly $260 in pending payments. It may be a small amount for them, but I worked hard for that money, and I have every right to get paid. My average rating was 93%, and I even reached 100% last month. I have spent hours answering questions just to help students and provide them with competent learning, only to be betrayed by this company in the end.

Desired outcome: Please reconsider your decision. Allow me to withdraw my earnings.

Hello Mrvlel,

I am sorry to hear what you went through regarding the deactivation of your CH tutor's account. Honestly, this kind of fraud has negatively impacted many foreign tutors, including me. It seems that the tutor support team randomly closes tutors' accounts whenever they feel like it without considering the effects that it has on the affected experts. The fact that the team has permanently suspended tutor accounts with sizable balances has led us to suspect that they are knowingly engaging in fraudulent activity behind the scenes. In your case, Jess is only a bot name, which implies that your email was handled by two different members of the tutor support team. Hence, your tutor account was re-enabled by the first candid moderator, while the second moderator, a fraudster, permanently disabled the account even after establishing that you had submitted all the requested documentation on time. Regrettably, some of the impacted tutors have lost more than $1000, but since we are not on American soil, there is little we can do to get our hard-earned money back.

Today I have received an email telling me that my tutor account has been temporarily disabled because, according to them, they have identified unusual activity on your Course Hero tutor account that violates our terms of use. They've asked me to submit 3 items to re-verify my account within the next 48 hours. I have send all items today afternoon and at 11 pm norch fronm tutor support team sent mail that your account is permanently disabled. But I have already send all items.
