I am writing you regarding Florida Power and Light’s (FPL) deposit policy for residential service in Broward County Florida. Like millions of people in the united states and hundreds of thousands of people in Florida, I have been impacted by the slow economy. I consider myself to be middle-class. I am a retired IT professional of 70 years of age. Recently my wife also 70 years old lost her job and is now unemployed and we are trying to survive on our retirement income. I have been an FPL customer at the same address for over 19 years and have seen my light bill almost double from last year. my bill which use to be around $300 a month is $532 this monht and on top of that they added a $737 deposit fee for having two late payments (for which a fee was charged). They have been paid so we are not delinquent on our payment.
I find it very disturbing that a monopoly such as FPL can exert this type reckless policy on our billing at a time when its customers are struggling to make ends meet. My Acct# [protected]
Desired outcome: Have FPL waive the deposit....It's not like I'm going to skip out on the bills.
