Giant Food CONFIRMS Company Policy is to SICKEN ALL CUSTOMERS with SECOND-HAND SMOKE, by stationing SMOKING employees near ENTRANCES.

I have sent over 20 complaints about Giant Food Employees smoking around the entrances to Giant Food by filling out comment cards, entering them on their web site, or calling the corporate offices. NONE of these has stopped the employees from smoking at the entrances. One time, the assistant manager was even standing at the open door, blowing smoke in the faces of customers entering the store.

I tried to shop at Giant today--the Mapledale location in Dale City. At approximately 2 pm today, one Giant Food employee walked past the front entrance on the right hand side of the store, apparently hiding a cigarette in her hand. She stopped about 20 feet from the door and continued to smoke. A second Giant Food employee soon joined her and lit a cigarette. They stood there for a while, then started walking further away from the door (toward the Health Club). The first employee was white with short dark blonde/light brunette curly hair. The second employee was black with short hair.

I did shop at Giant on Feb 12. I was in the store, and walked near the front door, and smelled the strong stench of cigarette smoke. Someone had apparently been smoking at the entrance just then (about 1:15 pm). A black female employee who I believe is the assistant manager was near the front door inside - she may have been smoking outside. When I left the store at about 1:45 pm, after I got to my car, a white female Giant employee with long blonde hair lit a cigarette about 20 feet from the entrance. A black female employee was with her. This may have been the same woman I saw today. They soon walked further from the entrance.

I CANNOT BE EXPOSED TO SMOKE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO GET ANY SICKER THAN I ALREADY AM. CONTINUING TO HAVE GIANT FOOD EMPLOYEES SMOKING NEAR THE STORE ENTRANCES JUST CONFIRMS THAT Giant Food Company Policy is to SICKEN ALL CUSTOMERS with SECOND-HAND SMOKE. THIS IS INTOLERABLE.

I have shopped at the giant by Mary Washington College, the white oak giant, and the super giant on rt.3 and two giants stand out with there disgusting habits. The rt.3 giant has a cleaner appearance and less disturbing appearance, it appears that the manager knows how to handle some employees. The one near Mary Washington NOT ONLY has smokers constantly in and out but it appears a higher managment SPITS TOBACCO IN BOTTLES while walking out. This is a business that is supposed to appeal to people, and SPITTING in front of customers is DISGUSTING and VULGAR and NOT NEEDED. White oak giant has smokers that are rude, and give nasty looks to most who pass. Again this is not needed. Not only are they harming other people with second hand smoke, rudeness and disgusting habits should show customers why some grocery stores need to learn customer service skills.

Sorry, but what crawled up your [censor]? i work at a giant, and i see employees smoking all day. There's a designated smoking area for employees at my Giant, and managers aren't even allowed to smoke at all. And what's the big deal about a little smoke? your not going to get secondhand smoke from being several feet from someone unless your standing in their smoke for a prolonged amount of time. I mean, why don't you just hold your breath if it bothers you that much? The employees smoking aren't doing it to bother customers nor to hurt anyone. Smoking cigarettes is a large part of American society, and i find it frustrating that your hung up enough to post an online complaint. There's no law that prevents people from smoking, you might as well stride over to the local police station and complain to the sheriff about town citizens smoking cigarettes. The pollution in our air that exists 24/7 is probably worse than a gasp of air that may contain a few percent of tobacco smoke.
I'm sorry if i'm offensive in any way, i just got home from dealing with angry, uptight, anxious customers all day long throwing roude comments in my face constantly and i've honestly had enough.

I am quite sure the customer does things that I don't approve of BUT it's still a free country! I am an adult, if I choose to smoke then I SMOKE! There are usually two entrances into the building...why not try using the one that is furthest from the designated smoking area? Or are you one of those customers who live to [censor] about EVERYTHING?

I agree wholeheartedly. I cannot understand why these SAVAGES refuse to submit themselves to my every whim and desire! They need to understand that AS A CUSTOMER I am clearly their better and therefore only my opinions on a subject should be considered and tolerated. In fact, just a few days ago while waiting an intolerably long line (3 people AHEAD OF ME, the nerve) I grew tired and demanded that the cashier stop her work and pleasure me orally. That little [censor] refused and even suggested that I, THE CUSTOMER, was WRONG and my request was offensive to her. THE NERVE of that worthless [censored] for daring to question my AUTHORITY AS A CUSTOMER. I PAY HER SALARY...and I am too BUSY to understand the logical fallacy of that statement! They DARE to smoke within 10 miles of me, they REFUSE to pleasure me sexually on demand, they CLAIM they cannot slice my lunchmeat 1/100th of an inch thick, and they ultimately IGNORE all of my self absorbed tantrums and hissy fits. If only we could return to a feudal society. Then these RAPSCALLIONS would have to submit to my elite status or suffer the lash of my hickory switch! Free men and their supposed rights...ABSURD!

This is a complaint on Giant Food at East West Highway in Silver Spring, MD. I observed a female employee who works with meat stand near the meat freezer with her pants hanging off her butt. She had a white coat on but the imprint of her pants and uncovered hind parts showed right through it. This fad has no place for a butcher/meat clerk at a grocery store. I told the store manager he ran to the freezer area which is in the back of the store where this employee was. I think her spoke with her.

Second complaint, there are two trash cans right below the greens. This is not clean. Is it safe to shop at Giant?

No one likes smelling 2nd hand smoke but this is hardly something to complain about! If you don't like it just shop at another store i can't believe someone would waste there time complaining about some employees smoking on there breaks outside the store. I don't smoke but these employees certainly have the right to and if they can't smoke outside a building then where can they smoke?

I purchased fish which was on hot buy deal. The next day I made curry, me & my husband ate the curry for dinner . The whole night we had problem sleeping as the stomach was upset. The next day we both had to take off & take medication. We both felt the fish was packed a month ago & it was old stock . Pls do not buy food products from Giant they are cheats.

yeh, the union workers will blow smoke in your face also. i asked one to be careful, my hubby has lung cancer, guess what the staffer did? yeh, lit up again and started to blow smoke on my hubby.
i snapped some pictures of the culprit employee. they're all problematic at best.
since i've done that i've been targeted.

This company is a HORRIBLE Employer. I was disgusted to hear of the young lady that had cerebral palsy that died of the Corona Virus due to not having the correct PPE but what is more nausiating is that they had the nerve to send her mother her last weeks check of 20.64 and a 5 year pin that she was suppose to get last year. She had been with this company for 6 years. Are you that greedy that you could not provide your employees with PPE while they are working for peanuts to enrich your pockets! I just dont know how "Giant" in good conscience sleep at night. I hope that you see that 27 year old employee every night before you go to bed!

In the last three months I've been trying to get celery seed, Persil laundry disks, and bacon flavor Ritz crackers . They are not on the shelves. The store says they only have what you send, they can't order what they need. If I need to go to another store to get what I want I'll buy all my groceries there. Sharon Seaman -Newport store

I bought this elbow macaroni a your store on Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20850.

Package claims it’s 16 ounces net weight and that it is sold by weight and not volume but I weighed it in at 13 ounces. This is quite deceitful and makes me question all your package labeling.

I bought 1/2 gallon of Giant STRAWBERRY ice cream two days ago. The outside label claims "CHUNKS" of strawberries so I purchased it because the price was lower than the competition. However, when I got it home, there were NO STRAWBERRY CHUNKS in that entire container. False advertising. I won't buy that again.

We purchased a bag of Giant brand broccoli, cauliflower & carrots in early November and opened the bag on Nov. 5, 2022. There were no carrots in the bag. We purchased it from our local Giant on Rousby Hall Rd., in Lusby, MD. We were very disappointed that there were no carrots when the label and picture on the bag clearly indicated carrots.

I had a pickup order on last Thursday , December 22. The fresh green beans that I received many in the 3 bags were spoiled. Giant Food pickup is excellent with great customer service. The is the first time that I have received poor produce.

I visited this Burke store and was quite disappointed with the produce. The cilantro was covered in sand or dirt Willted green leaf lettuce and poor quality grapes. When I went to the restroom trash all over the floor and no toilet paper it was dirty next time I’ll send pictures

I bought a cake at Putty hill plaza today(May 14, 2023, Mother’s Day) tres leches cake as suggested by its label. But when I came home and saw the cake it’s not tres leches cake.

I have reported this store to the MD Dept of Health because it is beyond disgusting! There is no excuse for this and when I asked to speak with a manager one is never available! On Friday, June 2, 2023 at 5:30 PM I had to leave because I couldn’t even walk into that disgusting mess.

Tried to buy frozen shrimp and have them steam it for me. He told me no because I had fs. I'm homeless and it was fathers day and my dad wanted it. I was left in line in front of people embarrassed. I paid for the shrimp and just wanted the to steam it after.
