On 5/24/24 I picked up my guest at SeaTac international airport At approximately 11:06 AM. He notified me his flight had landed and that was at approximately 10:40 AM. Going into the Memorial weekend, the airport traffic was horrendous! From the airport, we drove to 13 coins restaurant in SeaTac, WA. We arrive there around 11:20/11:25 AM. A car was just pulling out of the parking lot and we were thrilled to get a spot in that front parking lot right outside of the restaurant otherwise you have to drive down behind the building and park on the backside at a considerably lower level. The sign posted in the parking spot we took said 3 free hours parking limit, anything over three hours would be charged a $50 fine. My first thought was they don’t have a meter or anyway to monitor what time you actually arrived, but we had no intention to over extend the three hour time limit. We got our tab at 1:56 and paid it immediately and arrived at my car at approximately 2:05 PM. That still would have given us another 15 to 20 minutes without exceeding the three hour timeframe. Unfortunately, there was a parking fine in a baggie stuffed underneath my windshield wiper. I was furious! There is no way to prove your word against the security officer who has nothing better to do then ticket people, unlawfully, which is exactly what he did to me. We were not there three hours, and we did not exceeded the three hour time limit, although the ticket was issued at 1:29 PM. This would have meant that we would’ve had to be in that parking spot by 10:29 AM. How could that have happened when the flight didn’t land until 10:40 AM, then I had to get to him at the insanely populated airport to pick him up and then have to drive to 13 coins and find a parking spot. How could I have been there at 10: 29 AM to warrant this ticket! I am mailing the payment because I’m not about to give them another $3.50 for the convenience of doing it online. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This parking company doesn’t care, they just want the money.
Recommendation: During the daytime hours, you have to pay to park or not exceed the three hour limit in this particular parking lot right in front of 13 coins restaurant in SeaTac WA. Do not give them the satisfaction of parking there! Sadly, it deters people to go to the wonderful restaurant which is open 24 hours to accommodate travelers. I am a local resident and I am ticked off and discouraged by this unethical practice. Unfortunately I will not go back to the restaurant during daytime hours ever again.
I want a full refund of the $50 and I am hoping the Better Business Bureau can help with this matter. I expect LAZ Parking to reach out to me with an apology as well.
