On 06/03/2014 I went to Planet Fitness to cancel my membership and to inquire as to why I was charged a $29 yearly fee yesterday on my checking account when my fee was not due until October. I first spoke with Assistant Manager “Dan”. I informed Dan that I would like to cancel my membership and
also that I had been charged a $29 fee on my checking account on 06/03/2014 that I would like to be credited back to my account. He immediately stated that he could cancel my account but only a manager could credit that fee back. He looked up my account and noted that my yearly fee was due in October but could not give me an answer as to why I incurred this fee now. He stated that the yearly $29 fee “DOES NOT” show up on their computers; only the corporate office gets that info. He then said that I would
have to go home and bring them back a bank statement showing that the fee was taken out. I was perplexed! I asked him to call the corporate office and get the confirmation from their records. Why should I have to be inconvenienced when he could get that info himself? He continuously stated that he DID NOT have the number for the corporate office. I expressed my displeasure with his nonchalant and dismissive attitude and told him that I found it hard to believe that he did not have a number for his
corporate office. As I was waiting for him to print up a copy of my payments thus far, he continued to argue with me and increasingly became angry that I did not except his dismissive behavior nor did I believe his claim that he had no way of contacting the corporate office and could not verify my payment. While waiting on me he then rolled his eyes at me with a “to hell with you-how dare you question me” look and abruptly walked away to help several customers who had just walked in. I waited patiently while he did this. He came back to the computer, grudgingly, to help me and the phone
rang. He picked up the phone and continued to ignore me again and proceeded to start to enter the customer on the phone’s information in the computer to look something up for them. (Please note: There were 2 other employees at the counter at that time, AND THEY WERE NOT helping customers! He could have let them help any new customers that came in or called while he finished with me.) It was then that I became angry and stated, “Are you kidding me! You’re with a customer and you’re going to ignore me and help that person on the phone! Where is the statement of my charges that you were going to print for me?” He again became angry. Because he was ignoring my request for a copy of my charges, I asked the girl behind to counter to print one for me. There is only so much abuse a person can take and I became angry when Dan continued with his dismissive behavior towards me. I told him there was no way that I believed that he could not call the corporate office and resolve this. I then told him that I believed that he was just too lazy to do his job and that he wanted me to be inconvenienced and do it for him, by my having to go all the way home and print up my bank statement for him. I also informed him that I was not an idiot and was sure that they purposely did this to customers hoping that they would give up and not pursue their refunds. At some point the manager, "Andy, " (apparently none of them have last names!) came over and immediately became just as rude, obnoxious and demeaning as Dan. He continued to spew the same silliness that Dan did (of course standing by his co-worker). He kept repeating the same thing that Dan did; that they did not have access to the records of the yearly fees; and that they did not have a number for the corporate office to verify my payment; and that I would have to go home (do their job) and bring back a copy of my bank statement. He continuously interrupted me and tried to demean me by yelling over me; which, in my opinion, was an attempt on his part to provoke me into stooping to his level. The girl finally gave me a copy of my statement and when I looked at it I observed that the $29 fee I paid in October was, in fact, listed on the sheet. I then showed it to both of them, to show them that they did, in fact, lie about their not having access to members’ yearly fees! Andy could not admit that they outright lied because they were too lazy to look up the information, so instead he said, “Well, I still can’t do anything about the $29 fee without seeing your statement because it’s not listed on here!” I said, “That’s why I asked you to call the corporate office.” He kept yelling and belittling me in front of customers and I told him I would be back with my statement. I then went all the way home, copied my bank statement, and returned with copies. Andy came back up and immediately very angrily stated, “I looked it up and that fee was for West Boylston, not us!” I said, “Well I guess you were able to look into the fees without my having to go all the way home to do your work after all!” I expressed my displeasure with their lack of professionalism and he then yelled, “You can leave now and don't every come back! YOU ARE NOT EVER WELCOME BACK HERE!” That was a very rude obnoxious thing to say in front of staff and customers, especially since all I asked was for them to research a charge that should not have been taking out of my checking account. As I was still at the counter he then mumbled “f*****g b****” under his breath, which was totally uncalled for and unfortunately got a rise out of me and I responded in kind. I am sure that he said that to me to provoke me into a confrontation so that all anyone would see was me losing my temper, not knowing what he said to get that reaction. As I was leaving he was still ranting and yelling "Get out of here and don't ever come back!" As if I would! I assure you that AT NO TIME was I disrespectful to either Andy or Dan until they continued to treat me in a rude, discourteous and demeaning manner. The bottom line was that they did not like my questioning why they would not help me. How dare I question them?! I went in there with a question about the $29 fee, and to cancel my membership, NOT TO BE ABUSED AND BELITTLED! This could have been resolved immediately had either of them done their jobs and taken the time to research my payment. They obviously lied when they said that they could not look up my payments because Andy looked it up as soon as I left the first time, by his own admission! I will go thru the bank regarding their over-charge on my account, but BEWARE, Planet Fitness hires immature, unprofessional, rude, obnoxious children as managers and assistant managers.
automatic withdrawals
I have been a member of this gym for years since it has opened and never had an issue till this year. They withdrawal money for random 'rules' that you NEVER agree too. Isn't that illegal? If I would have known they would withdraw $40 for a 'yearly membership fee' I would most definitely have put money in my account or just cancelled the membership. Now I have $80 dollars to pay because of over draft fees. When I called them about this deduction they said 'oh a lot of people have called in about this' so what they're saying is no one was aware of this? Total waste of money. I'm canceling my membership and going to a better gym.

I've had my membership for over a year with planet fitness. And every month they have been withdrawing their membership fees out of my account with no problems. Something happened with my credit card on file and it started declining the fees. Instead of sending me some type of notification or even calling me, planet fitness allowed my account to acquire fees because of non payment. I now owe $125, because of their negligence. Maria from the GUNN Highway franchise in Tampa, stated that they have to many members to deal with to be keeping up with their accounts and if I had came to the gym more often I would of known of the problem with my account. Because of my work and daily routines being a single father of 2 kids, I don't always have time to go to the gym. I'm very frustrated over this because if I don't pay it'll go to collection and damage my credit. This is the only business that does not contact you when their is a discrepancy in your account, they just allow it to acquire fees until you show up to the gym again.
singing while you work out
This is the 2nd time that a black person will start singing. It is very annoying to hear someone sing, let alone clearing there throat or coughing. The 1st time this happened, I asked Mike do I have to put up with this black man singing and Mike said no. Mike went and confronted the man and it was over. Today May 6th a black lady starts singing and praising the Lord, I asked her to keep it to her self, in the next moment she cursed at me, I went to the front desk and Matt says there is nothing he can do unless it is offensive. I told him it is offensive to me to have to listen to that. I did not realize Planet Fitness is for those wanna be singers. I am going to quit my membership. A word of advice, you must cancell your credit card account when you quit your membership, otherwise they will continue to bill you

After cancelling my Plant Fitness membership I realized I was still be charged monthly on my AMEX. Contacted PF and told them and asked for it to be fixed. They did not fix so I contacted credit cerd company and told them to not accept the charges. PF sent me to a collection agency for $82 which then posted a key derogatory on my credit report. Never sent me a letter and refused to send me proof of amount owed when asked.
I joined the gym using Discovery Vitality card. The Institution is charging me full amount and double for that matter. Now I stopped paying them and they took me to ITC. I want them to demonstrate to me why I am being charged double from the beginning of the contract and why was i paying a full membership fee. beware of the annual memebership fee if you cancel the service.. they will take it even if you cancel the membership.. stay away from the cheap price. the service at the gym is horrible and the staff is rude.
I joined about 2 years ago and am no longer under any contract but they keep billing me monthly. I no longer live in a city with a Planet Fitness and tried to cancel and was told that I needed to send a notarized letter certified mail to the headquarters. When I said that was ridiculous they threatened to put me into collections.
This gym is a total ripoff and sleazy.
I went to Planet Fitness and they looked at me like I was in the wrong place. I am in good shape but I am not some steroid popping fool. My first day in there working out one of the guys came from the front of the gym and told me "hey you can't drop any weights in here." I told him I am aware of that so it wasn't me. There are 5 stationary cycles at our gym in Port Elizabeth and only 2 of them are working. after numerous complaints nothing has been done. Just empty promises. I posted a complaint yesterday and no response...Is it this difficult to fix 3 bicycles? Come on Planet Fitness shape up!
please fiw all the broken workout machines and remotes. we all have to keep going from machine to machine to find one that works . come on now we want results.
Wen I joined in August you pay alot of fees, like maintance. Then in June they take it out of you account again so you actually pay it twice a year. You have to go to the fitness center on the day you started your contract or they will start it again for another year. So I feel I have been screwed twice. They suck.

My 14 year old son was dropped off from baseball practice while my husband and I were within 5 minutes of finishing our workouts. The manager came over and told my son he had to leave! She said they needed to use the chair for someone who actually needed it! I cancelled our $20 gold memberships on December of 2013! We're still getting charged after signing all papers to cancel. I just spoke with a manager he advised me to call corporate. We have gold memberships which allow us to bring a guest! My son is a shy kid and hates congruent action. He left and waited outside for us! We didn't even know where he was!
Do not give them your business. Horrible management. Treadmills are more productive than their staff.

After over 10 months of no activity and resigning from the gym they started a withdrawl again in january. I called planet fitness and my bank. Bank of america (Boa) put a stop payment on the vendor. Guess what? Then vendor changed the name to planet fit4321 and took another charge out in feb. Boa says that they never see that from a gym only loan companies. On the phone now with local gym in vancouver (I live on the other side of the state now) and they are trying to fix. After almost a year of no activity all of a sudden they steal money for two months. Guess what again? The vancouver location said they would refund my money if I drove 12 hours round trip and spend approx $200 in fuel to deliver in person a statement regarding the theft. 12 hours and $200 to recover $43. They blamed corporate.

Keep your eye on your account even after cancellation. I just found an attempt to withdraw a monthly membership fee years after cancellation. I checked with my bank and no attempts in the last year (making sure I didn't miss anything) so I called Planet Fitness Corp and they couldn't do anything except contact the Portland, Oregon office since it's "independent".
Surprising to me to see the attempt on my account so i'm warning those out there that HAVE CANCELLED to monitor their accounts for attempts like what I just found.

I ask Ashley at Warren Gym if I could pay my bill a different form of payment she told me the only way is through my checking account. I told her I know longer can pay through that checking account and I told her if my account be debit they will not be able to collect the money. She told me in an sarcastic way that the only way you can stop payment is cancelling your contract with Planet Fitness. I told her I been with Planet Fitness for 1 year in 1/2 and I have to cancel my member because of a 10 dollar payment that I can come into the gym to pay my bill. I think Planet Fitness is unethical on how they treat their consumers that on longer could pay by checking account. That is a form of slavery. That the Consumers don't have say so on how they can pay their money toward their fitness bill. Planet Fitness loss a paying customer because I can't pay through my checking account.

I was running on the treadmill yesterday evening (Friday November 15, 2013) when all of a sudden the lights went out and came back on. I just kept on running. I thought a switch was accidentally flipped, but than a few minutes later it happened again. The employee came over and I asked what was going on. She told me they were closed. I said "is this your way of letting someone know?" and she responded with "yes". I told her I wanted the name of her supervisor and HER name, so I can make a complaint. She responded back with " I don't give a F!%k WHAT you do"! It is VERY dangerous to just turn out lights and poor business practice. If I tripped or got hurt on the treadmill because it was pitch black because I couldn't see and didn't expect that the lights were just going to be turned off I would be going after Planet Fitness to take care of my medical costs. I intend to make a complaint to her manager about what this staff member is doing because they need to know this is happening and to immediately put an end to it!

Scam don't sign the contract after 6 attempts to cancel after the 1 year contract terms, we moved to another state that doesn't allow these scammer franchise owners to rob people. So we attempted to cancel via telephone, wrote a letter attached the original contract and had it notorized and sent to the location where we signed. In an attempt to separate my husband and I from our money they must have trashed it and pretended to not receive it. Months later and hundreds of dollars later I went into the location while in town for a funeral and the manager was rude and not helpful whatsoever. Corporate was even worse explaining that they are all privately franchised thieves, saying if I go to the website it will have an email address contact for the owner and if I want a refund I need to go through them. Long story short she LIES! There is no such address. I plan to tell everyone I know what scam artist they are.

On thursday August 29 th 2013 i went to planet fitness for a workout. Once there i got on the treadmill to start my 50 min. workout While on the treadmill i notice these 3 guys who were already using the weight machine, the one that you have to put the different size weights on to i guess you call it bench press. 20 mins into my workout I noticed this young man come over and ask about using the machines. I can tell that the guys made the statement that they were still using the machine. in the remaining time on the treadmill i notice the young man come over to these guys 5 more times in attempt to use these machine. I got upset because the time these guys was on these machines i noticed them talking on their phones, texting, standing talking to each other and one guy actually several times walked away from his machine leaving his shirts on the equipment so no one else could use the machine. I went over to the desk and complained to the young girl at the dust who showed no concern at all. i was so frustrated that i cut my 2 and 1/2 hour workout short went to the desk again put a comment in the comment box, then asked to sreak to a manager which i did but I felt he was a bit concerned either. Working out is my stress releaver, but this day I left planet fitness more stress than when i came. I hope they can correct this situation. even though I strongely concidering leaving planet fitness i hope noone else will encounter this kind of behavior.

Went to cancel my membership after I broke up with my boyfriend that attended Planet Fitness and my year was up so I would not have a cancellation fee, since the employee's and managers were friends with my boyfriend they would not let me cancel unless I paid them almost 200.00 which I did not owe nothing and paid for the next month which I never even used do to the bulling and harassments I was getting from the employee's there. I can not find no other way to cancel other then the gym I went to and they sure won't do nothing for me because they are all children there sticking up for a friend when he was the one that was cheating on me and the reason for the breakup, something needs to be done about this and a way to get ahold of the main office.

I joined the health club and every thing was fine until i switched locations after moving to another city. At that time i found my bank account being charged twice monthly for the health club membership. The company planet fitness reimbursed me for the money and five months later i found I m still being double billed. With today s economy i cant afford to just give these people 10 additional dollars a month wtf.

I was injured in a terrible accident on May 4, 2013 which resulted in me being on crutches. I called Planet Fitness to suspend my membership and I was told that I had to have a letter from my physician. I got the letter from my physician and I called back and asked for a fax number. I was told we don't accept faxes you have to bring it in. Well, it's been extremely difficult to bring in the letter until I got off the crutches because I was in just too much pain. When I got off crutches I take the letter in. These are the WORST and MOSTunprofessional people in the Customer Service Industry! When I approached the desk, and told the person that I needed to speak with a Manager, they were so adament about helping me and of course, they couldn't. When they informed the Assistant Manager, she couldn't help me. However, she informed me that the guy behind her, Mr. Patterson was the Manager. Here I am standing on one foot back and forth (due to my injury I couldn't stand long) for over 30 minutes (keep in mind no seating was available and they didn't even bother to offer water (it was hot in LA that day) While he continued to look at me back and forth (the Assistant Manager was pacing back and forth with my letter and Membership tag in her hand and I didn't feel comfortable with that being in her possession because she was handllng the letter and membership tag carelessly). Finally, he got off the phone and never did he introduce himself. He just looked at the screen and looked at me like I had the plague. Then he tells me that there's NOTHING he could do to help me because I purchased my Membership ONLINE! Why would a company "offer" online purchasing if you are NOT going to Honor the online Members? I'm soo frustrated with this company. Yes, I had my creditcard company to suspend any and all transactions from Planet Fitness. This is HORRIBLE because things happen and not only that, WHY did Mr. Patterson inform me that he was a Paramedic?! NOTE to everyone... if you get injured and need paramedic care please make sure you request that a Mr. Patterson is NOT the person to attend to you because he is the MOST RACHETT unprofessional Paramedic I've ever met.

I had no complaints about Planet Fitness till today when I cancelled my membership. I tried to cancel twice. First time by phone and was told I had to put in writing. fine ok. Second time went to new gym that is closer to my house. They said I had to go where I signed up Fine ok. Was also told I could cancel with no buy out since my membership just hit the one year mark in May. I was told make sure I did by June 10th so that I did not get charged for another month so I went in today and was told my last bill would be $39.99 for my annual membership no one ever mentioned this. So I will not recommend anyone to Planet Fitness

Wow... I don't know where to start. Planet Fitness...
Boy, what a misery.
It started quite simply with a low cost membership that my teenage daughter talked me into getting. Only 10.00 a month. Sounded good . Right ? Well let me tell you don't let the advertisements fool you. First of all the only place Planet Fitness wants any "Black " associated with their name is on their advertisements.
Located in Florida, , the home of the "good ol boys".
Somehow, still today I should know better. I registered for their membership and shortly thereafter on my first ever visit, they harassed me about my scarf I had wrapped around my hair . Now, ordinarily, I have my head wrapped due to the fact that it takes about 3-5 days to have my hair done and I refuse to show my hair in partial stages.
Entering the facility located in Florida, I was told I could only wear "approved " head gear. Apparently they had decided what their customers should and shouldn't wear and chose baseball caps as the approved headgear for their facility. More than a little annoyed and not owning any baseball caps which I have to also say is on top of their racist behavior which would manifest itself later, a little sexist ?. But at that time I had passed my cancellation time for the year and would have to pay 59.00 to cancel the membership. Instead, having opted for the "Black" membership, I simply abstained from going to the gym that I was paying for until I finished my hair, some weeks/months later. Now, having paid for the membership which allowed me unlimited guest privileges, I brought an assortment of people in with me to work out when I came. Each time they were asked for Id and each time I had to be warned they could only workout as a guest if I was present. Still ignoring all of the signs that the short snipped treatment I received was anything more than lack of customer service skills, I continued to frequent the gym at alternate locations, avoiding the Springs location because they had the highest percentage of rude obnoxious type employees. When I had registered, they had insisted on performing an electronic withdrawal from my checking account against my wishes. My cancelled check and account number with the routing number allowed them to automatically withdraw via electronic check 21.26 from my account on the 17th of each month. Annoying, still I let it ride and still I did not pay heed to the ever increasing alarms that were going off each time
I had to pretend to smile at the rude obnoxious employees to utilize the "service I was paying for".
As with most things, eventually, things catch up to you.
On February 11, 2013, almost a year later, things finally got out of hand.
I don't know if it was more that I had had enough of their condescending attitudes or if I had finally had enough of saying "Yes um" like a good ###.
Justin was on duty when I entered with my teenage daughter, who had been extremely sick the week before and feeling sorry for her hardships she had to go through at school to make up work, I had agreed to leave an hour or two early before school and work to take her to the dreaded gym. It had been a few weeks without incident, so I was not too concerned about the visit.Or so I thought !
As usual, when I entered I showed them my membership number they nodded and proceeded to require "my guest " to sign the sign in sheet they made every guest sign in on. Now ordinarily my guest had all been over the age of 18 and they had been required to show Id. I proceeded to the locker room to change when she entered I asked her what they made her do at the front desk. Now, let me stop to say that of all of the rude obnoxious employees, Justin had put on a great act of being amicable for a few weeks before and I was thinking perhaps there was hope for their lack of professionalism and customer service skills.

This day I would find out he was still first and foremost "one of the die hard "good ol boys". My daughter mentioned something about some form, so I stopped mid change and went back to the front desk. Justin then informed me ( in the not so nice manner ) that it was required that I sign a waiver of liability.
I have to say that all of the times I had brought my daughter with me, no one at any location had ever asked me to do this. I asked him if it was something new, he stated " no"
I asked him if I had signed one before, he stated " no"
I then inquired why none of the other locations I had taken my daughter to had required this form and showing irritation at my "questioning his authority " I assume, he got riled and told me " sign the waiver or cancel your membership !".
Now, it was Monday, at approximately 5 something in the morning. I had spent all week with personal issues with my daughters health, etc. etc.
Now I am not going to lie, but I am not the most amicable person in the morning anyway, not even to mention 2 hours earlier than I needed to be up, on a Monday to boot. Now, in the background there was this small heavy set girl who committed one of my worst nightmare type behaviors from a company. The old eavesdrop, backseat drive, jump in to gang up against the customer routine.
I could feel it coming. First of all the side winding comments and unneeded contribution from Sarah. Secondly the attitude of how the statement was delivered by Justin with that "jump dog, sit dog" tone... or else>>Really !
My reaction after his threat was..hmm.
First of all I had been "putting up with this company as they delved into my personal account each month and provided mostly irritation for almost a year ! To top it off with, we were doing you a favor, now do what I say or else ..b.. ... !
Simmering for a moment or two, my insanely stubborn, don't treat me like an ignorant ### chip popped up.
Tone and demeanor. How many times have I advised corporations, key .. Tell someone their dying..nicely and they love you...tell them you are dying b..., with an attitude and they will want to take you with them!
Simple.

So my mouth started with "why are you threatening me with cancellation because I questioned you about this form?
His reply was. Just do it, not a threat, do what I say, don't ask questions ###. Fortunately I have voice record on my phone and at this time, I thought it was time to document this issue. Yes, I asked her, trying to be nice, still and let her know she was annoyingly contributing to a conversation that she had no part in and causing it to escalate.It was now 5:45.. I kept looking at the clock hoping she would leave early, she was so obnoxious, I could barely stand to remain civil.. Good thing I have such an iron clad control of myself. Justin took off to bring in my "file" which would show I did not have the form in the file. While he was gone, extremely annoyed by this time, some 45 in later, I asked little Miss Nosy, why Planet Fitness was taking their membership directly out of my account, when my bank, one of the largest in the Country had informed me that my account, was the first one he had seen set up like that and that I should question why they did not have it set up with my debit or credit card like the 99% of the accounts he sees did. He also inferred that it was an oddity and a dangerous one, due to them having direct access to my account. He inferred that they had done it to be sure that I could not stop them from taking funds as easily, as with bank card. Nasty, nosy Sarah, went on noxious, her rude obnoxious talk down to me behavior to tell me that "all new " Planet Fitness customers had the same means of payment set up as I did. I went, uh huh. After signing the form I went back to the locker room. I had gotten so upset with them that I did not want to work out and knew they had already destroyed my day . Turning around to return to the service desk, aware that my daughter was working out on the floor, I approached Justin again. I asked him why he had been so rude when I had thought before he was the only "nice" one at that location (pretend to be)..and why he had threatened me with cancellation for questioning him? I told him that of course I am going to question anything, anyone asks me to sign anything, period..no one should have "blanket authority" ! He then told me that it was my attitude...hmm.. I came in to work out, ...fight with any employees...not a plan for my day!
Now you know how a porcupine bristles... I felt it happen when he proceeded to talk down to me like a child, inferring I had to be controlled by him and was totally responsible for the issue evolving by questioning his "AUTHORITY", by questioning the need for my signature on the form. I said I had thought you were one of the nice ones working here, he said why don't we start again tomorrow.
At that point he stated " that it was my attitude that made him "talk to me" like he did.!
Now, my point of reasonability was slipping. I countered, feeling my ire rising . No it was you talking to me like a child with the attitude that when you say jump, my response, should be " how high" !
CAN YOU PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH THE MANAGER/REGIONAL MANAGER FOR THIS LOCATION ?" He then whipped out a cancellation form, told me he was cancelling my account... due to "attitude/policies", , I stated first of all I have paid through the 16th/17th of the month and do you mean to tell me that you are cancelling my account because I questioned you about the Waiver ! .
He said yes. And prior problems...
Now I am starting to feel anger... What prior problems ? First of all I barely used the gym, if even 2-3 times a month due to their nasty behavior !
Secondly, I have never had a problem with anyone or anything at their stupid gym, is what I was thinking. I asked him what he was talking about and he said I had threatened to sock someone..My mouth fell open thinking maybe he was crazy, maybe that was the real problem!
I kept asking him what he was talking about ? He proceeded to tell me that I had to leave, I was trespassing since he had cancelled my account. By now I was full blown angry!
Not screaming or cursing, but thinking how many attorneys I could hire to sue them for breathing ! I told lovely Justin that I was not going anywhere, my daughter was unaware of what was going on and in the shower... by now it was 6:30 and annoying irritating Sarah was hanging around just to be obnoxious and aggravate the situation more !
Now enters another charmer at the end of this over an hour torture, who also starts mouthing off about how I was cancelled and if Justin cancelled me, there was nothing I could do about it.
Having paid till the 17/16th..waiting for my daughter I asked for the regional managers contact number again. While I was standing there suddenly recalled a few weeks ago my telling him that if the man who had grabbed my butt while walking by did it again I would punch him...I asked him is that is what he was referring to ?
By now realizing that his attitude, response and fabrication of any justification of what he was doing was way out in left field!
I stood there and finally took notice that he didn't feel I had the "right to " question him. That I "did not have the "right to" defend myself or my body.. Basically that he didn't think I had any "rights" at all! That indeed, his manager Ashly whom I would speak to much later after filing a complaint online with the corporate website, was just as guilty as he was. Once again management hires like souls. If you have a problem with the employee, the person who hired them is generally just like their hierarchy. I finally confronted him, remembering how he had also publicly humiliated another person of color a few weeks back, attacking him as he came in, stating someone had seen him in an altercation. I remembered that the problem started with and ended with me Questioning the Document, why I needed to sign it, why I hadn't been required to sign it before, basically questioning "his supreme authority".
Supreme.
Superior.
Finally it hit me. he thought I was" too black, too old, and too female " to question anything he said and when later when speaking with Ashely the, regional manager of this franchise, she would also relay that same inference.
That her employees have blanket authority to do what they want and she also wants to keep their locations, as white as possible.
I glanced around and one again noticed that look of, hmm, how dare you ### talk back to us look and feeling that all three were reeking of.
I noticed the smiles and friendliness as they waived goodbye to their majority"white" non black patrons, without an issue. After I collected my daughter, I realized a little later that these racist crazy people had access to my bank account !
Scary ### !
I returned to the gym and requested that they return my check and bank information since I am not affiliated with them and denying them access to my personal bank account.
Once again ...Justin, started with his threats and talking down to me like his dog, "I cant give you your information", I can have you trespassed!
I told him that I would call the police to obtain my personal identifiable information which, he, lying again, clearly had access to, since he had clearly brought out my "folder with my personal banking " information in it, easily available to him and everyone else at the location.
Still talking to me like a dog, still thinking I was going to subject myself to his dictatorship, he said you go ahead and call the police and I will call them to have you trespassed !
I called the police and explained what had transpired, of course I did not mention his or the franchises racial issues at the time, but the officer returned and explained that lovely Justin had lied again and told him he did not have "the authority " to give me my information back! !
Really !
He had my information in his hand, refused to return it, threatened me with trespass when I requested it, cancelled my account for inquiring "why " the form was needed some 11 months later... So now, he is not able to return my " BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION WHICH ALLOWS ACCESS TO MY MONEY" ?
Bottom line, Stay clear of Planet Fitness!

It took me quite some time to put it together, what the problem was with their attitude. What, no matter where I went, they all had in common, besides being rude and unfriendly. Now I realize the root of their "unfriendliness"
Pay a little more for a facility that respects you for being a human being and that is not run by "good ol boys and their children" ! Don't bother speaking with the upper management...Just as ignorant and racist as their Justin's, Sarahs and Amys in their business !
Don't forget Franchises are individually owned and operated, therefore the Corporation that sold them the right to use their name...Does nothing to control these individual "owners" leaving the consumer with no other recourse, but court.
Ask yourself is it worth it to save money ?
Do you think you can keep to yourself for how long before Justin, Sarah, Amy and Ashley insist that you "JUMP WHEN I SAY SO, DOG !"
I am in Brunswick Maine and the staff at the Planet Fitness here has been very rude every time I come in. With the exception of one young man. My son and I were asked to leave the facility stating that my son was bothering customers. He was sitting in the walkway area with his back facing the gym. Listening to his headphone. I had never been so humiliated in all my life. I have never been asked to leave a place of business! When I asked the girl how my son was bothering the customers she couldn't give me a straightforward answer. I told her I wanted her name and the mangers name. When I called the manager the following week she barely let me get a word in over the phone. I finally ended up hanging up the phone on her. She also was extremely rude never apologizing for the incident at all. I cancelled my membership there. Never plan on going back. I was in tears explaining to my son that people have no right to treat you in this manner...
Good for you for standing up to this treatment!
Even though it may seem like a waste of time, it HAS to have an effect on them.
Deep down they KNOW they were wrong.
How do I know?
Their aggressive defensive attitude shouts out their guilt!
