Plato's Closet prejudice

I will never shop/sell there again, especially after I found out what was going on behind the scenes. Unless your a friend or family member of someone who works there, you will not get good service when it comes to selling your goods there. If they even buy any, and if they do it won't be but a few items for pocket change. They are judgmental of the people who walk in. I was disturbed when I over heard the employees saying the ugliest comments about a customer. One even going as far as saying she was going to just pretend to look at her items but she wasn't going to buy anything because she looked like "trash".

Plato's Closet they are absolutely careless

They were absolutely care less. They told me that my massive bag of clothes would take at least 30 minutes to sort out. I went around and found a cute bag that I would like to buy, so I decided to look inside and there were sticks of gum still in it. An hour passes and I noticed that the employees were sifting through other bags. So I went ahead and asked how the progress was going for my bag. They decided to give me attitude and I found out they lost my form after an hour of waiting. I'm so absolutely disgusted because they copped an attitude with me and were so unprofessional and they didn't even buy back any of my clothes after giving me such a hassle when I found extremely similar clothes in the store anyways. Needless to say I am never going back and I'm never buying from this company again. The staff just kept talking about their personal lives instead of doing their job.

Plato's Closet every platos closet in america

Y'all are by far the dumbest clothing franchise i've ever witnessed. My friend received a pair of BRAND NEW polo shorts from his grandmother 2 months ago. The shorts simply didn't fit him. She lives far away and didn't have the receipt so he couldn't return it. They were originally 70 DOLLARS and y'all offered him an embarrassing $6.25. He NEVER WORE THEM and they even had the PRICE TAG STILL ON IT. Even the other customers laughed at yalls amazing math skills. Customers even left after they saw how we got jipped. Y'all have officially lost us as customers and everyone we tell. And we will tell people not to go to y'all unless you want to get rammed in the ###. And btw we sold the shorts to another store for $45. Get your ###, y'all are def losing business. Y'all are pathetic.

-Sincerely everyone who can do basic math skills. ###.

Plato's Closet customer service

5/7/17

Entering the store I was greeted with the store policy and an estimated wait time of 45 minutes to an hour, after a different employee verified my yellow slip with my ID she asked me what was the wait time the first employee suggested "45 minutes to an hour, " stepping a few feet away from the counter. The employee that originally told me the estimated time asked the other employee that verified my ID what my estimated time was and she responded, "she has five bags, she said 45 minutes to an hour." He laughed and replied "she must be drunk because I did not say that." I stood there waiting for someone to notice, the employee that verified my ID noticed and asked "oh was that you?" The time was not an issue for me, I was planning to shop in the store for at least 2 hours, but I had no reason to lie about an estimated time that I was given nor cared. An hour passed, I was called to the counter to retrieve my items. The employee that said I was drunk gave me back one bag, and said he was able to buy a small stack of clothing for $18. I asked for my other bags, since there was five he said he thought I only had 2 bags so he didn't go through the other three, I said it was fine I had somewhere to be soon as an excuse to leave. I won't be returning to this location.

Plato's Closet customer service

Not that it should matter, but my wife is a dentist and I am the Director of training for the largest Tool Storage Mfg in the US. We entered with three bags of apparel to sell/receive store credit. The bags contained multiple sizes as our three daughters vary in age. Within the bags were brands such as Miss Me, Eloqui, Nike, affidavit, VS. the very first interaction with the employee was "In the future, don't bring clothes in in garbage bags; use a laundry basket." After the canned questions, sold with us before? For example, the next interaction was, "you should look around or go sit down, it's going to take us a long time for this much." Additionally, she looked for ANY reason to no longer work on our transaction, electing to engage with any other employee or customer. The location is in Overland Park, KS and its only 135th. I can understand trying to portray a public perception of more standard retail, asking for a more refined vehicle of apparel transfer than a garbage bag... but there are two half mugs of coffee on their counter, an open Diet Coke can, 3 aggressive water stains on the ceiling tiles, the carpet needs to be vacuumed, the walk off matting is extremely worn, the merchandising efforts on the perimeter wall are very weak, the poster wall graphics are torn. To insinuate that OUR presence was taking this place down is an insult. A reply, or corporate contact, would be prudent. Steven Lamb [protected]

Plato's Closet didn't take items with tags on them

I went to the platos closet in bowling green, ky and took new items that still had tags on them and they didn't take them. I also brought in a pair of just fab shoes still in the box. It didn't even seem like the girl to the stuff out of the bag and even looked. They ended only taking a pair of short, a shirt, and the shoes for only $10. I will definitely not be selling clothes to them again.

Plato's Closet very rude staff

The staff at Platos in Taylorsville Utah was extremely rude when I took clothes in to sell, clothes they had told me the previous day they could buy. The girl did not even look at them ( designer jeans in perfect condition) I was totally ignored when I questioned why I was told the day before they would buy. If you like being treated like you are an inconvenience to a business, this is the place to go. The staff that I encountered does not belong working with the public in any capacity. I am quite sure she does not even have the capacity to learn what good customer service is. Ok if they changed the inventory needs over night but there is absolutely no reason for the rude callous behavior this employee demonstrated. because of this one mindless person, Platos has lost my business

Plato's Closet very rude and snotty workers!

So I took a gray tub into plato's along with a cheetah print bag full of non-stained, freshly washed and very seldom worn clothes. I take them in there, and the girl says "it'll be about 30 mins" I come back in not even 20 mins later and she said "we weren't able to take anything because they were stained and "too selective"" I tried to say that nothing was stained and she very rudely interrupted me and said "we appreciate you bringing them in" and walked away! The girl that went through them wasn't even going thru them because I seen her and she just dug thru the tub and didn't even thoroughly check them and what few things she did take out she just threw them onto the table beside the tub, and before I left, she gave me a very dirty look! Needless to say, I'll never be shopping there again!

Plato's Closet huntsville, al platos closet

I have taken clothes there multiple times, clithes that still have tags or have never been worn and if they had maybe one time still in brand new condition. Every single time they say they cant take any of my items because either theyre "too worn/bad condition" or "theyre out of style" but yet ive been in there looking around and have seen some of the exact same clothing that ive tried selling them, some items being top name brand clothing. Also they want to say my clothes are "too worn" but ive seen clothing in there that has stains, holes, or just looks down right pitiful. They for sure will no longer be getting any service from me!

This is pretty typical of consignment stores that buy clothing. Consider selling to a different store or maybe on craigslist or at a garage sale.

Plato's Closet plato's closet high point nc

One other thing I almost forgot to. I was told from a friend who had a former friend that use to work for them that they point cameras in the dressing room! Please be aware of this please look into this main corporate this is not right for our privacy.. Also there is a worker not sure if she is the manager or lead there her name is toni back length hair dark brown color short bangs, wears glasses not a a fit person to be working in retails from the way she was dressing she was the one who did my buys she told me my items were older styles/don't sell well in their store when I look down what she had on look like she just rolled out of bed and went to work and for her to judge my clothes please dear look at your self before acting. That store needs help serious help.. Also the owner feels salty when you put your notice in cause leaving she tells you flat out to go ahead and leave no need to finnish your notice. Good luck in getting a reference from high point pc

I went into the PC in high point NC before thanksgiving workers are rude looks at your items you bring in wasn't worth their time to sort through... bad already enough they tell me my items are older style and my items don't sell well for their store that is very upsetting there can be other ways to address proper ways of telling us as customers/seller .. and they follow customers all over the store like they will steal makes also very uncomfortable to shop for owner that runs that place I heard she was to tell her workers to judge of how the people looks to keep close eye on who comes in that's very judgmental how do you know what type of people to follow ..workers comes up to us shoppers every sec ask if we are finding everything ok which is polite to ask but not every sec makes me feel like I trying to steal something ..trust me I work hard and I never intend to do bad nature or a such crime as stealing in a place like that. The owner she doesn't give proper customer service seems she's always eye balling more.. she treats her workers like crap can't ever keep anyone working there long enough to learn how to ring someone up because of the way she is she talks to you as if you're below her or stupid I wanted to apply there at one time by me knowing someone that knows people use to work for her isn't never a place I want to retire at.so I just do as I do be a honest paying customer and I'll never ever sell my items there I know my clothes are not older style which i purchase within the time frame they obey their policy by why would I take something more then 5-10years old or not instyle no longer knowing I'll waste my time and theirs be serious high point PC .. this location needs to be shut down asap or needs the main franchise to step them up to better there store or they will not have happy customers no longer .i notice everytime I go in there I see a sweet girl there next couples I go back they say she's gone cause of the owner of how badly she treats them! The place is so small and clutter as me and my small infant walks through that store my stroller is hitting other shoppers and it's very difficult to shop there cause of the space ! Please shut that place down or help them! This is the only PC I went to that doesn't have a Clarence rank place is already over priced as is... I'm sorry just not a happy customer when it comes down to this one I been to others they have been more kind

Plato's Closet customer service and drug use by a manager

I have been a loyal customer for years. I recently went to the location at 835 bell road Antioch Tennessee. I approached an employee which was talking to a young girl, as I got closer I smelled a strong oder of marijuana coming from her. I waited for several minutes to ask a question and she didn't even acknowledge my presence and it was clear they weren't talking business. I walked away and asked another employee for a manager, that's when she pointed to the lady I just walked away from. so I told that employee what had happened, that's when she said the manager ( Mercede Baker ) comes in often from break with that smell and that the girl she was talking to is her girlfriend and she's in there all the time just standing around talking. Miss Baker needs to be sent for drug testing and /or fired for her behavior. if she is still there when I return, you will have lost a valued customer.

Plato's Closet wrong clothing

On Sunday 7/24/2016 my husband and I went into the Plato's Closet location in Killeen Texas with a large bad of clothing and shoes..Fast forward to checking out I was told the same old blah blah blah about older "unacceptable"styles and how they don't take stone washed jeans etc.now there were 3 pair of these so called stone washed jeans in my bag... ( now let me just say these jeans were just bought the previous week and are selling in most high end retail stores) Anyhow after being told that I was offered a ridiculous amount for the parcels but...my husband was annoyed by now so I accepted and we left the store.. Today is now 7/27/2016 only 3 days later and i decided to sort through the clothing and discovered they actually did take a pair of the stone washed jeans that I was previously told were not "in style". To add to that I continued to sort through the bag and realized there were 3 other pieces missing...but were replaced with someone else's clothing. Now I am a size 2 jeans, small shirt and 6.5 shoe. There are 2 pair of nasty dirty women's size 13 & 7 cheap jeans and a dirty worn women's sheer top in my bag that doesn't belong to me... This is sickening as it is in with my clean clothing and shows a lack of professionalism and to me scamming me out of my own clothing and replacing with someone's cheap dirty clothing I wouldn't have even donated..just burned! I will NEVER give my business or time to Plato's Closet again.. Try hiring mature businessman/women instead of children who are too busy being sneaky! I want to be reimbursed for the loss of my pieces of clothing and you are more than welcome to having who Evers clothing this is back!

Plato's Closet reselling items!

I went into platos closet a few weeks back and took in a apple ipad cover I was told that they did not take that kind of a item. So I put it in the donation pile that is located in their store. I went back a few weeks later to find that they had take the ipad cover out of the donation pile and put it on their floor to sell. So now Im left wondering do they do this all the time.

I was at plato's closet today and sold them a pair of boots that cost $80.00. they gave me $4.85 for them. the woman at the counter which had blonde hair and it this is was on friday, may 27, 2016. there was a man at the counter, who started to help me and then rudely interrupted me for a ghetto blonde headed black woman, who was also very. then the blonde headed white woman helped and was also rude. I told her, that I was being ripped off for the boots, she proceeded to explain that the brand I brought in was not listed. then the blonde heade black woman and her ghetto friend proceeded to try to start a huge fight, because she was desperate for me to hold conversation with her and I am black also, but did not want to deal with her because she looks like one of the strippers from waco's a local strip club in the area. her personality sucked and she was some nasty disgusting black woman from florida that I did not want to deal with, I am a honest hardworking black woman that does not want that rep.

There is a ceiling tile missing directly over stalls which makes me feel very uncomfortable using the stalls as it is a clear view into all girls bathroom stalls. Has been this way several months. Very odd.

Plato's Closet snobbery at its finest!

in July 2013, I went to the Plato's in Trussville (Alabama) with my fiance so he could sell some of his old clothes that he no longer wanted. These were GREAT condition, high-end-brand items that came from very expensive places (such as from Buckle). We brought the clothes up to the girls at the front counter, who looked through them. They said something along the lines of "sorry, we can't accept these because they're too high-end" or something like that. The girls' attitudes toward us were not too bad at the time, but the fact that they would not take our well-conditioned high-end clothes (especially when there was a pair of COACH shoes that had just been sold or donated right there at the front) left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Since then, I have been visiting Plato's Closet a few times every so often in search of some really nice items at decent prices (why spend $80 on a Vera Bradley bag when you can get it for more than half the price elsewhere?). Each time I go in there, it is like I never came in. The girls just stand at the counter and talk or go through their items. No "hello" or "have a great day" or anything. I have read reviews about other PC locations and most of them are about how rude the employees are at those locations too. I am surprised that Plato's stays in business because of all the rude, snobby people that work for them. If you continue to hire snobs, then don't be surprised of you lose customers and your business goes down the toilet. I will take my business to my local thrift stores - the clothing may not be as high-end but the people are a WHOLE lot friendlier.

Just reading over complaints I finally understand it was just not me. This place takes one look at you and decide they want nothing from you. I took in 5 or 6 bags of nice things some things in new boxes for them to tell me unfortunately we are not able to take anything. Well my items were in much better shapes than what was on the shelf. Even my daughter...

Plato's Closet I was selling and item that I took to them twice. and still they didn't accept my item after I fixed the issue.

I have purchased items from them and bought items from them also. I took my item there today and they told me spots were in it. So I got it cleaned and they told me the same thing. But time before that I had some shoes that they didn't take. So while I was talking to the cashier some brought shoes as well but the cashier wiped the dirt off the shoes and gave the customer money. I just want to say I really think they are racists. I feel like its not fair to treat people unfair just because you can. The store need better management.

Plato's Closet lies

This place is awful. I understand not wanting my clothes I bring in but they won’t take clothes I purchased less than 2 weeks ago. “These are too old” “out of style” I’ve heard it all. However I notice when a workers friend comes in, they buy it all. As a test, I purchased a few things from the Woodbury location, some things I noticed on the shelf, some I noticed that said friends brought in. I went back to try and sell back the clothes and they gave me the same excuses. “sorry, this is just not in season” (to a pair of pants I bought that I noticed the store purchased from someone else days ago). Okay. those aren’t in season and you won’t purchase them but I can point out HUNDREDS of items this store has purchased that is out dated, out of season and just plain hideous. I guess if you expect this place to purchase your stuff, you gotta know someone that works there though.
