I canceled an order and am seeking resolve.
my name is Patricia Dineen i am from yonkers n.y. 10704, i ordered a tv on line from rent a center . I decided to canceled my order . agreement # o777 404 4376 . I paid the first payment and am trying to get reimbursed and confirm i canceled . However everyone i call passes me off to another number . One guys says talk to the bronx store the other says talk to Yonkers store and on line it is showing i am late for a payment when i never received the tv nor do i want it. This is poor bussiness, and i truly would love this to be over . please call me with a responsible employee that has a clue as to what is needed to rectify this problem . Past service experience... awful.. I was due a payment, and called and said I would be by that afternoon, they said fine... couple hours later, my mother called me, and I heard my autistic son in the back ground screaming and she said they showed up, and banged on every window, every door. ( my son does not like loud noises is why he was upset), and then after she told the guy she couldn't get up with me ( no phone service in my area) the employee said he was going yo call the police which upset my child even more. I went to the store and paid them and raised the roof demanding where in my paperwork does it say that a place of business get away with this behavior, I wanted that guy fired, naturally nothing was never said... so I paid off my account... New service a year later... sold me a phone that was locked... with someone's account, then they linked his phone number with mine so I had to straighten that out. The next day I brought the phone back and told them to terminate my acct it's not worth the stress.
misleading information
About two years ago I rented a queen sized mattress from the RAC in Laredo, Texas on Guadalupe St. I explained to the employee that I needed to rent a queen bed for a month because my mother was coming for a visit, but I didn't want to purchase one. The employee said that I had sign a contract for a three month rental and when I returned it I would receive a credit for the remaining time on the contract. The manager explained that I could not receive a cash refund because RAC's ultimate goal is to sell the furniture not to rent it. I was uncomfortable with the situation, but I needed the bed, so I agreed. Some time later I found myself in the same situation of needing a short term rental and wanted to use my credit. It was at that time that I was informed I couldn't use that credit for rentals, it could only be used for purchases. Great, I wish I had known that before. Again, I rented the bed and the credit remained unused. It has now been about a year and a half and my husband and I are looking for a bed for my son, so remembering the credit I went to buy the bed a RAC. I received such a negative attitude about wanting to pay cash for the bed and use my credit. Finally, I was given such an inflated price that it is actually cheaper to let the store keep the credit of $138.00 and buy the bed somewhere else. When I asked the manager why the price was so inflated he said it was because RAC is a rental store not a retail store.
So which is it? Are you trying to sell furniture as I was originally told, or trying to rent it?
I really feel misled and cheated. Maybe it's a matter of training your store managers on how to explain company policy and use straightforward honest, language rather than manipulating language and only explaining what is needed to "make the sale".

I am a current customer at Rent-A-Center and have been for some time. I have had repetitive issues with the Store Manager; Mike at the store @ 1768B Columbia Ave, Columbia, PA 17512.
For the last several months each and every time I call to make a payment I am held on the phone for over 20 minutes as none of the associates ever seem to be aware of what my actual bill is. I am placed on hold until I am able to speak to store manager Mike. Every single time I call the amount that is owed is different. This to me seems extremely shady and un business like. I have asked him on more than one occasion if this is because someone in the company is pocketing the extra money that I pay. He gets very defensive yet he will not show me anything on the screen or print out any statements to prove other wise.
Your manager on more than one occasion has accused me of lying when in fact he has ZERO customer service skills. When going into the store (as he asked) to show proof an employees' wrong doing he purposely did not make himself available as (per his words) " I am the only person he seems to have a problem with". He has a "problem" with me because I am the Director oh a physician's office and know what true customer service is. The way that your "manager" acts is despicable and has chased me away from any further purchases at Rent-A-Center as I am anxious to pay off all accounts and never have to deal with this "manager" again.
There have been a few times where I have been late on my account, however this does not ever give an employee the right to treat their customers the way that he has. I did address this with another employee; Frankie during my last visit to Rent-A-Center and he has assured me that I am not the only one who feels this way about Mike. He stated to me that he gets numerous complaints and that his customer service skills are extrememly lacking (in my opinion nonexistent) . Therefore it was decided that any and every time I made contact (including payments) I would make them with Frankie only. During a conversation with the store today I was told by Mike that "i was not allowed" to speak with Frankie and in turn threatened to schedule a time to come pick up my stuff as he "was sick of dealing with me".
Unless I break the contract in place with Rent-A-Center your employees have zero right to threaten me with this.
Mike is digusting human being and I would not doubt that he is truly stealing money from other customers and your company. At this time I feel it necessary to discuss with my husband if we should cut our losses and bring all things that we are renting to own back to the store as I am truly sick of the abuse of your "Store Manager". Was rude to me and i tried to pay him on washer an dryer most of what i owed he said my son was upset with him an i said i apoligise for that but i have 30 dollars now an i will catch up on the paymts an he said no we were just a wk behind ive bent a customer for years and he said to me i told your son i cant work with him wrre comin to get it i have clothes washing an there here now its 7pm an the two guys that are pickin it up are letting me dry my clothes an waiting but its crazy that they cant work with me i would pay an get it caught up he didnt have to be so rude an disrespectful to us.. I have been a customer of rent a center for many many years. I have bought furniture, beds, laptops, desk computers, stereos, phones, and other things through your store here at 301 main st. in Fort Morgan, Colorado. I never had any problems with any of your employees or managers. If I was late I would go in and they would treat me with respect. The head manager were nice and would help me figure out how to handle the issue at hand. But the new head manager that you have now is very disrespectful, rude, and abusive. He needs anger management classes to me. I am not the only one this has happened to I have friends and people I know that he has been very unprofessional too. I took customer service classes in college and I learned that you have to treat the customer in a professional matter. But not this guy, He is very very rude and I will no longer go back to that store as long as he is the head manager. He needs to be removed from manager and needs to be trained on how to treat the customers. I do not know why Lori that works there was not given the head manager position because she is curtious and knows how to treat us customers. If I ever had a problem I would go in and discuss my issue and she would find a way to fix the issue or problem just like Bob or any other managers or employees before, But your new manager needs to be retrained on how to treat us customers. He is rude the way he talks to me and disrespectful. I hope someone can fix this issue at hand. But I am many other people will take our business somewhere else if he is not removed as head manager and retrained. To be bullied I will go to the schools where this is happening at and is not right. I find it in your hearts to put us customers in our shoes and see if you would enjoy being treated like this. I dont remember when I signed up for my units, but when I get to the store it was Manny who i signed up my brand new dinning table and couch with.
I ordered a brand new black leather couch with him, and was told that it wont arrive until 4-8 weeks, therefore, we had to rent a used dirty sofa. Then was told by him that they will give me a call once my item arrived. He was the only person i talked too that day thats why his name is the only one i remember.
Until one day when iw as making a payment over the phone, the lady who took my payment over the phone that i have only 6 days left to pay the dinning table and the couch in cash price. Thats when i thought how come my my black leather couch order hasnt arrived yet. She said she knows nothign about it and that she will tell Manny about my issue and expect a call from them.
I did not get a call until its time to pay again. Unfortunately Manny was not available to talk to me so another guy talk to me about my complaint. He said there was nothing ordered for me, and he kept asking what kind I ordered. How would i know exactly what model unit or number was it when i was at work and know nothing about the names of their stocks or item, when he himself couldnt tell me anything. I hanged up the phone on that man hoping Manny will call me, but he didnt until its time to pay again.
The the very arrogant and VERY CONFIDENT Manny kept telling em that maybe is was his manager who processed my orders as he doesnt know anything about it! I kept insisting that it was him processed my orders and my purchase and the lease. YEAH FORTUNATELY all he can do is deny!
Until now, i still dont have anything ordered, i dont want to talk anymore to that MANNY EVER! i told him today to pick up the rental couch as id ont want to pay it tomorrow! i will only pay for my dinnign table. On Tuesday 10-25-2016 at 6:14pm I was driving on my way home on Centerville Rd when a maniac in a white van stayed literally on bumper. I turned left on Duck creek and driver stayed right behind me till I finally moved out of his way. He sped up so my daughter and I were able to get the Rent A Center Driver # E0737. This unacceptable driving for a professional business. Rush or no rush the person behind the wheel should have not been driving the way he did. This person should be disciplined or talked to regarding his driving.
No, you should have gotten over and let the traffic go by you. There is a reason that the right lane is the slow lane. People like you get my horn, by front end on you lights in your eyes.

I have been a loyal rac customer, i have bought and paid for 4 flat screen tv's, ps4, refrigarator, recliner, queen size matress and boxspring and now the problem two htc cell phones witch i owe less than 500 to pay both off i have had the extra warranty been paying for that and i was told on the cell phones if something happened the first time i would recieve anoyher phone they didn't say what kind but another cell phone untill mine was fixed well the smart ### people at your store in cullman, alabama 35055 pretty much told me i would have to buy new service witch i am using the same and some kind of a tray just to get a replacement is that really how warranty works that i pay for not them really this is how you run a buisness i will tell evertone i know to go to bestway and rac will do nothing but screw you if you need the warranty that you pay for every time you make a payment i promise i will do my best to hurt the buisness in cullman as they are hurting mine and not honoring there agreement thats all for now but its not over if i cant use what i been paying on all these years i want a refund for all of it i will talk to tou soon and if nothing is done i will hold a sign up and stay there all day

refusal of payment
I am a new Rent-A-Center customer, I got a couch, a chair and a television for my disabled 73 year old mother. I ended up in the hospital with walking pneumonia in both my lungs. When I got home, I found out that my mother was not able to drop the payment in the drop box due to her health. I call them and said that my mother had written a check and that I would be in to make the payment and I was VERY VERY rudely talked to and was informed that they do not except a check for payment and that they were coming to get my mother's furniture this afternoon instead of letting me make the payment. I know that I will not recommend them to anyone . If they will leave an elderly woman sitting in the floor instead of excepting my payment then they are not worthy of my business. You cannot treat your new customers the way I was treated and expect them to refer you to someone else. I called the corporate office and there will also be a complaint filed with the better business bureau and the federal trade commission. Please do not rent anything from their Manchester TN store, the manager will treat you like dirt and to top it all off, they didn't even deliver the furniture, we picked it up ourselves and set it up for my mother.
It is not a business's fault that your mother is ill and can not pay. It is not their fault that you were sick. It is not their fault you want to pay with a nonaccepted payment type. Rent A Center has strict contracts that you signed when you rented the items. Don't blame them. Filing complaints against a business for your irresponsibility is ridiculous.

We decided to go to Rent a center primarily because they hook up everything for you. (My fiance pass away 3 weeks prior I have no clue how to do these things) They came hooked it up, and yesterday (2 weeks after the delivery) I had to go into my basement. It was flooded. I head upstairs to find where it was coming from and it was the connection for the ice maker. My refrigerator has a space set back making it even with the surrounding walls, so it wasn't visible in any way. Forget that after 2 weeks of water running through the floor, or all our stored things in the basement that are floating, I just wanted it properly hooked up. They told me that they don't hook up the water to the refrigerator. Why would I spend so much extra money, for the RAC service if they don't hook up the one thing I couldn't do myself. I could have done this much damage myself and saved a lot of money. And apon investigation I found the only thing they do not hook up is gas, to a range or gas dryer.

I bought (via their rent to own option) a beautiful, brand new french door refrigerator from Rent a Center. Several months into it, my ice maker stops working correctly. The store comes and gives me a replacement and takes my fridge in for repairs. Fridge comes back; not fixed at all and DENTED! I have had 3 or 4 open tickets with Rent a Center corporate with promises for the district manager to call me. I've heard from her once. All I am asking is for the fridge to be repaired and fixed and back to its original pristine condition. If that means a new one, then they should do so. The local store is telling me they're doing all they can to find me a refrigerator, and aren't having any luck. However, if I get on their website, I can order a new fridge just like the one I'm asking for them to fix or replace!

sales, delivery lack of professionalism
I purchased a Samsung High Definition TV with a surround sound from Rent A Center on Thursday Dec. 3, 2015. I was told I had to pay $31.07 before it can be delivered. However on Friday I receive a call that the delivery guy is coming until I told them I wasn't home. The merchandise was delivered on Friday. On Saturday I receive a call that they are coming back to pick up merchandise because I had not paid. Upon signing the contract their salesman did not tell me to pay either. Now today is Dec. 7, 2015 and I receive a call that they are sending police for stolen property . I did not refuse to pay I told them I would pay by Thursday since they did not remember to tell me to pay. In turn I got a lot of lip back from Robert their salesman, the unprofessional Rent A Center police they have. Never again they feed of the poor people.
