Purchased Ralph Lauren brown duffle bag for $568 + tax Monday Nov 20 2023. Received item Wednesday Nov 22 2023. On Friday (Black Friday) the item went on sale for $397.60. I quickly called customer service and asked for the adjustment (something every reputable store does). The agent said that it would be sent in for approval and adjustment may not show up for up to 14 days. I said that was too long because the item would not be on sale by then if it was refused. I even suggested that it may be better to order it again and return the original so I didn't miss out. She assured me (practically guaranteed) that it would be approved as she could see the sale price on the screen as would the department who does the approval. Later I received an email saying my request (#[protected]) was denied. The adjustment would have been $170 + tax. For a senior that is a significant amount. So I called customer service again as the email did not explain why and was told it was part of an exclusion. She did offer me 15% next order. I explained that there would not ever be another order so not to bother. I have always considered The Bay one of the higher end deparment stores but I can get better results from Amazon or Walmart. Needless to say, I will not be shopping there in the future and will be happy to spread the word. I am most disappointed. If this wasn't a Christmas gift for my son I would return it. But I suppose the company getting a few hundred dollars is worth the loss of a customer.
Claimed loss: $192.55
Desired outcome: The adjusted amount back on my credit card
