United States Postal Service [USPS] lost packages and no return despite policy

Where do I start. For the last 2 years I have been using them to ship orders of custom invitations to people all across the United States. Until this summer, I have had very little problems. Just to put this in perspective, they have lost 5 of the 7 packages I mailed in the last 7 days. One of them was an overnight package. They also were supposed to deliver an overnight package, that was guaranteed the next day by 3 p.m., to California. The lady paid for the service. I looked at usps.com and it stated that it was guaranteed by the next day. Otherwise I would have never purchased the $18 shipping label online. I dropped it off at 5:00 on a Friday. This was Labor Day weekend, so they didn't deliver Monday. So, the package was supposed to arrive on Tuesday. Tuesday came and went. I also waived the signature of the package, and it was clearly stated on the package. Wednesday they attempted to deliver the package to her home, but since she wasn't there to sign for it, they took it back to the post office, UGH! She finally got it Wednesday. So, according to their policy, I am supposed to get my customers shipping money back. I talked to a guy at the post office Tuesday after 3 p.m., and he told me I had to wait until it was delivered and would then be able to get my money back b/c it did not arrive in time. When I went back in Thursday, they told me that their computer was showing that it wasn't guaranteed until Thursday. Keep in mind that that is 4 full business days later; that's after me counting out Sunday and Monday. Why in the heck would Express Mail take 4 days? And why did their website promise it in one business day to that zip code? So, they would not give me my money back. That is totally wrong and against their policy.
They did this same thing about a month ago with an express package. They lady needed some programs for an event that was being held the Sunday. I mailed them out Friday morning, and they were guaranteed by Saturday at noon. Of course, they didn't arrive until Tuesday. I did get my $18 back. But, I had to send this poor woman a file so that she could take it to Kinkos to be printed. I had to foot the bill for this, and it ended up costing me $150 to print what originally cost $35 due to the rush fees. I am SO sick of the USPS. I'm not sure what I'm going to do though. I've got to look into other shipping services. They just lost a big customer. I ship every single day; all packages. I will stop printing invitations completely before I use them again. No wonder email has become so big.

Umm, if that's the case, they shouldn't have told me that Saturday was counted as a business day. I was told that by 3 different people. I'm not a complainer, and I'm fully aware of the rules. Trust me. I read them all. I'm guessing you work for the post office.

To file a real complaint regarding a crime, such as stolen items from the mail, go to www.uspsoig.gov. It is evident that most people run to the internet and post stupid items of complaints instead of reporting it to the proper agency for a real investigation. This is what we get with the Facebook and Twitter Generation! Ya'll have no clue.

United States Postal Service [USPS] not taking any responsibility for losing our package

Do not ever use usps for anything! When they lose your package/mail, they don't take responsibility for it. My sister just recently sent a package via usps. The tracking shows it as delivered on monday, but my brother didn't receive it. He asked the mailman at the end of the week, and he stated that he delivered it on tuesday. The mailman's story doesn't match up with their tracking. My sister called them, and they stated that they couldn't do anything about it because she didn't get insurance. What's the point in sending our mail through them if they aren't going to take any responsibility for losing/stealing our stuff? We might as well just throw our packages away. The possibility of getting our packages to where we want to may even be better if we had the garbage man deliver it. We should all go on strike and not send any more mail/packages through usps. We need to do something to make them listen and do something about it. It doesn't matter how much we complain, it doesn't do anything. If we all stopped sending out mail and packages through usps, this will definitely get their attention. Maybe, just maybe, this will get them to stop and realize that they do need to take some responsibility. So what do you all say? In for it? I think we should get as many people as possible to stop sending mail/packages through usps. Make them hurt as much as they've hurt us! 1

It might be impossible to get everybody to stop using them, given a lot of their useful services but I do agree that their service sucks sometimes.

I've had mailmen come and leave my package outside the door without even bothering to knock. If it has a delivery confirmation, they'll scan it and go on their way. It really pisses me off when they do that because then a neighbor can come, pick it up and steal it (which already happened to me once) and all they could say was "Sorry, we can't do anything about it because you didn't require a signature or have insurance..." The man even suggested I put a note outside my mailbox...I shouldn't have to be putting notes for anybody.

Then there's the lazy ones that don't even bother to come up and leave the package. They'll just put the "SORRY WE MISSED YOU, " note and go on their way without even checking to see if you're home. And one time the guy didn't even leave me a sorry we missed you note so I had to be up and early the next day at the post office...

United States Postal Service [USPS] can't find my house

I don't know what's wrong with my address but every time I order something online I always receive the same error "Undeliverable as addressed".
I tried to avoid them at all costs but sometimes they don't give you an option. I have called many many times and the only thing they say is sorry but they don't really care or fix the problem.
Why do I get spam and crappy mail but never anything from other companies (including bills etc) ?
I just don't get it!

Mailed an overnight letter by USPS on Sunday to be delivered on Monday on a Business, 4 hours round trip from my home. USPS tried to deliver on Monday at 5 AM, didn’t find anybody, kidnapped my letter at theirs post office giving me 5 days to make 4 hours round trip to get back the letter or send back to me after 5 days. The letter was time sensitive and destination was a business, and BUSINESS HOURS ARE 0800 to 1630 or 0900 to 1700. What kind of dead brain sheep ###s are USPS employee, going out of business hours, to make deliveries at Business at 1AM, 2AM, 3AM, 4AM 5AM and tell you that there was nobody. I do not care for $13.25 I paid. The damage they inflicted to me is much bigger. Government is doing nothing, they are looking other way. Next time I will drive 4 hours and deliver my letter by myself.

United States Postal Service [USPS] lost books

I just sent myself seven 40lb boxes of books through media mail (moving cross country). When they arrived it was clear that only two had been opened and inspected. Both of the inspected boxes are either missing books or contain books that are not mine. I called usps, but I don't expect much. Is anyone familiar with a forum where someone in a similar situation might go with the same problem... just in case there is a chance that the person who has my books is looking for theirs? I want my books back :(

United States Postal Service [USPS] they lost my package, and don't care!

This complaint is in regards to my lost package sent via the US mail.

I was out of town and had my mail on hold until July 15th. I was expecting a package to be delivered around the same time. When I looked at the tracking information it stated that it arrived at the post office at 8:09 am on July 15th and then sorted around 9am. The next scan (at 9:29am) stated that a notice was left and then a minute later it stated it was "Out for delivery". I didn't think too much about but I was excited that my package would be waiting for me when I arrived home from my vacation. Well, when I came home, on the 16th of July, there was no package in my mailbox, in fact there wasn't even a notice from the post office stating a delivery had been attempted. Mind you, there were exactly 4 letters in my mailbox and the package didn't require a signature, so I'm not certain why there would be a need to leave a notice. Anyway, I immediately headed over to the post office to inquire about it. I was told by a 'supervisor', Johnson Thomas, that the two scans ("notice left" and "out for delivery") were mistakes. However, she couldn't answer why the package hadn't been delivered over 24 hours after arriving at their facility. So I waited to see if it would be delivered that day, the 16th, and then the following day. Nothing! So here we are today, Monday, the 19th of July, and still no package. I called the post office and spoke with the same supervisor [Johnson Thomas] -that had told me the scan were mistakes- and she informs me that they cannot find my package. She claims she's spoken to the carrier, that left this supposed "notice". Funny thing is, one minute she [the carrier] cannot recall any package or leaving a notice and the next minute she recalls leaving the notice. So, which is it?! The supervisor also claims she is "searching everywhere for the package". She was supposed to call me back. After hours had passed, I called her. She said she cannot find the package, anywhere. When I questioned if my package had been lost, her response was appalling... "yeah, basically. And I'm not sure what you can do about it." After getting no where with this ### of a supervisor, I called and spoke to the postmaster, Daryl. Oh my, I have never spoken, nor met, someone so rude and unhelpful! After practically yelling at me that I had to "wait until they found it, if they could." and "until then there was nothing that could be done, so deal with it." (yes, he really said that) he then hung up on me. Unbelievable! I doubt I will ever receive my package. If I do it will probably be so damaged it will be useless.

How does the postal service in business with this horrid behavior?! All they want is more and more money and the service gets worse and worse. I would rather pay extra and things sent via FedEx or UPS. Anything but the god awful post office.

Not to be a total [censored], although that ship may have already sailed, but could you please take your fighting somewhere else. This isn't high school! If you want to be perceived as an adult, act like one.

Anyway, just to give an update. Not only did the shipper refund my money but on 7.27 my package, the one that they "tore the entire post office apart, trying to find" appeared, with a huge bundle of other mail. Everything had a 'hold til July 19th' written on it. I'm not certain where the 19th came into play -because neither were the dates that my mail was to be held till- or why it took till the 27th for it to be delivered?. But I finally received my package... 2 weeks late, after I repurchased the item and been given a refund. Maybe I should have the post office pay for the shipping, of the item (that they 'misplaced'), that I now have to send back, lol?!

I hope your package shows up deep. *fingers crossed*

That's a pain, deepsilencer. I hope you get it resolved, and I'm sorry about the competition.

I would try to obtain the number for your local consumer affairs. I had to deal with them directly. If you wait for a call back from the USPS 800 number, you'll be waiting for quite awhile. In fact, I'm still waiting for a call back from a complaint I filed about lost mail... back in 2005. They just don't care. Anyway, as I said, try getting the local consumer affairs number. Once I put it in their hands, they [the post office that lost the package] were willing to refund the money. Overall, it was handled and done with in 3 days.

Good luck

Annoyed at the situation, not necessarily you. I will say, your 'pressing' of the whole locked mailboxes was a tad bothersome. However, I'm also moving on from the issue.

Your suggestions about the sorting and loading zones were really helpful and I have been remiss in thanking you. As I said, those suggestions will be given tomorrow when I or my fiance call them, again. Thank you.

Update by neurosurg.girl
Jul 19, 2010 10:30 pm EDT

First, there are quite a few people that have locked mail boxes that don't live in apartment complexes, my fiance being one of them. However, I do live in an apartment complex, not that it matters. The point is that is was a locked mailbox. No one could have stolen anything from it. Move on from this.

Second, I'm sure it's possible that it fell under something but I have a supervisor stating that she has "searched everywhere!". Whether she has or has not, I don't know. I obviously was not there. Since it was hand scanned 30 minutes after the sorting, I don't think that's possible. However, when I recall them tomorrow, I will mention looking in those areas. It's worth a shot.

Lastly, no they did not deliver it to the office because, again, it never left the facility. To reiterate, it was hand scanned by someone INSIDE the post office saying a notice was left (however, there was no notice in my mailbox). So that obviously negates your theory that they "forgot to scan it". I actually have the scanner ID number from that scan. However, the post master has refused to even take that into account, or even take the number. Perhaps it could aid in locating this package but he feels it doesn't matter. I'm just supposed to wait till his incompetent employees 'search' for my package. The package THEY lost in the first place.

Update by neurosurg.girl
Jul 19, 2010 8:06 pm EDT

No it was not stolen since I have a locked mailbox, which can fully accommodate the small package size. Also, the package NEVER LEFT THE FACILITY, as per the supervisor, so that's not possible.

As to why I ordered something when I knew I wasn't going to be home. My mail was on hold so I knew it wasn't going to be a problem. Since, as I stated in my complaint, it did not require a signature, there was no need for me to "be there to accept it. Yes, I did come back a day late but since I had a LOCKED mailbox there wasn't an issue. Also, I knew that it wouldn't be left on my porch because 1)again, it was a small package, that easily fit into my LOCKED mailbox and 2)my normal carrier NEVER leaves my packages on my porch.

Was it insured? No, but I was not aware of that when I purchased it.

I hate USPS. They are a bunch of useless workers. Their tracking and confirmation doesnt work for ###. They lost my package and all they do is keep giving me different phone numbers to try calling. Each number that i call I get an angry, hostile worker that has no idea where my package is. I don't even come off rude. I speak to them normally. This was priority shipment also. I even get workers telling me to ask the seller for another shipment. Right, who is going to give away money just because it was lost in the mail?

United States Postal Service [USPS] mail left in mailbox after forward address

I had my mail forwarded in april 2010, in the month of june my home delivery medication was shipped in a sealed bag marked forwarding service requested. The carrier left the package of medicine (First class postage) in the mail box, even tho the mail box had a card inside instructing carrier to forward all mail. After a week I finally had my sister go to my home get a mail key and check the box, since I had not recieved the meds. She found it in the mail box. We are talking arizona 116 degree heat.
I called the apache junction post office, the supervisor said his name was danny, he was very rude when I complained the heat would spoil the meds. He said "I can not give you any medicine, I don't have any medicine!" I want an apology from the supervisor and a refund of $55.00 to get new medication.

United States Postal Service [USPS] delivery of packages

My zipcode is 11213 and this location depends on the post office at St. Johns Place in Brooklyn, NY. Being a heavy recipient and sender of packages, most of my experiences with my local office have been TERRIBLE. The worst part is that we actually pay for this horrible service. Many times I myself have seen the mailman put a "Sorry we Missed you" slip, WITHOUT any attempted delivery. And if I needed the package quickly, I had to go stand in a rediculously long line for hours just to receive my package because the mailman apparently "missed me" when I was in my place of the delivery all day. Customer Service is absolutely no help at all as well as many times they promised that I would get a call back but never did. Also the "redelivery" option is just as bad because I scheduled a redelivery 3 times and STILL have not received my package ! I have never had any of these problems with other carriers such as UPS and FedEx. From those carriers I have always gotten my packages on time without any problems. After all of my experiences with USPS, I am definately doing everything I possibly can to avoid using this carrier. It is not worth the time or money.

If you seen them leave the note, then you were there why did'nt you just yell at them & tell them to bring you your pkg. Or walk to their mail truck with them & get your pkg. yourself? Dont know how you think UPS Is any better, they drop your pkg. on your front porch, bang on your door Or ring the bell then they run off like their ### is on fire, whether your home or not. FEDEX Is the worst of the bunch the last time I was expecting a letter from them (that had a $5, 000.00 Check in it), Not only did they deliver it to the Wrong Address, They would'nt tell me what address they delivered it to Nor Would they go pick it up & Deliver it to my Address.I've never had a problem with the Post Office Delivering anything to my address.Maybe you need to take the time to treat your mail carrier like a person?

I thought it was the particular location that I was in that was the issue because I've only been having difficulties with USPS since I moved to Bridgeport, CT. Recently, I received a "missed package" notice in the mail from USPS (I was very confused about this because I stayed home all day waiting on the package). I called USPS and scheduled a re-delivery for the next day. Well, the next day came and went and I received no package. I called USPS later that evening and told them about my situation and the customer service rep assured me that I would receive the package first thing in the morning. I waited patiently for my package once again. It wasn't until 7:30pm that I called again to inquire about my package. A different customer service rep then told me that the package was schedule to be delivered the following day by mistake (oh, how I wish I had just went to the post office). I asked the rep if I could just pick up the package from the post office at this point. She told me that the particular post office with my package "seems like it's closed on the weekends" but she insisted that the package would arrive on Saturday (weekend, no?). It's been 4 days and all I can do while waiting on my pre-paid package is wonder if this is a normal occurrence. It doesn't make me feel any better to to know that others are having similar issues because that only means that USPS is inefficient all across the board.

United States Postal Service [USPS] lack of service

US Postal Service
Main Office
Columbus, Ohio

Today I had a very unpleasant experience with OUR US Postal Service. Last night I accepted a PO Money Order from an individual to pay for a large taxi fare. When I attempted to redeem this PO Money Order I was told by the US Post Office that since I was not the person that the Money Order was originally made out to they would not honor the Money Order. I pointed out to the Post Office Employee that the Money Order had been endorsed over to me by the original recipient and there is no place on the Money Order that states the the money order is not transferable.

When I ask for something in writing they said they would NOT provide me with anything in writing. When I asked to talk to the Post Master I was told the general public, the lowly Post Office employees and taxpayers were not allowed to speak to the Post Master or anyone on their staff in person.

When I asked for a copy of the Post Office regulation that had to do with the redemption of US Post Office Money Orders they said they could not supply me with that information because all of that information was in a large book of regulations. When I asked why she did not just do a search on the database or document(s) containing the US Postal regulation she said it was because the US Postal Regulations were not digitized.

Question(s):
(1) Why is the general public, the lowly postal employees and the taxpayers not allowed to speak to the Post Master or someone on their staff in person?
(2) Why are Postal employees claiming that something is in the US Postal regulation, but are unable/unwilling to supply you with a copy of this information?
(3) What does the US Postal Service do except deliver Junk Mail?

I received a package from a chocolate company, on the box it said keep out of heat, this end up and a return label stating that it was chocolate company. the box was left in a car in my driveway with the windows rolled up, it summer right, my child knows not to leave things in a sealed car. any other time a package comes in the mail even if it fits in the mailbox a note is left and i have to go to the post office to pick it up.so go to the post office with the package lumps of melted chocolate and the manger saay their not liablecause i didnt insure it well insurance wasnt offer at the time i order online.the company i ordered formwill replace it for cost and half cost so they will send a re order for half of what i payed for the first order. SO HERES ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF FEDERAL EMPLOYEES WITH NO ACCOUNTABILTY. I'M OUT 40 BUCKS IM'M SORRY 37.40 TO BE CORRECT and THE MAIL MAN GETS HIS LAUGHS. EVER WONDER WHY THE POST OFFICE IS GOING OUT OF BUSSINESS? THOMAS D WERY

Post Office going out of business? Where did you read that, exactly? Cus last time I checked, they're pretty damn secure considering everyone needs things mailed.

Anyway, you're responsible. It says on EVERY SINGLE ORDER WEBSITE that if you are expecting a delivery and you won't be there, leave a note to have said post-man leave it at a neighbor's. And I highly doubt that this chocolate company offers no insurance on items such as these, in fact I'm pretty sure they have to because of the Better Business Bureau's standards.

And how, exactly, did a mailman leave it in a closed car? Does he have a key? Because they can't, and won't, open private property.

You're out $40 for not insuring your packages. You should have placed your order over the phone and had them insure it.

United States Postal Service [USPS] pathectic service and attitudes

Postal workers attitudes need to change. No wonder they are going broke.
Our lovely post office in Wheaton MD is a disgrace. They are disorganized and lazy people. They need to clean up their act.
More importantly, clean up the entire post office. They removed the self help stamp stations.
They charge me 64 cents each for a small thank you envelop because they could not run it through their sorting machine. Sure would have be nice to know this before i stood in line for 30 minutes on Saturday morning. I had 30 of these envelopes and had to pay an additional 20 cents each to mail a smaller envelope. Typical USPS, charge you more money to mail a smaller envelope. Hope they do go broke and then maybe they will change their attitude standing in the unemployment line. Then again, you have to remember who works for the USPS. A bunch of lazy jack ### who voted for Obama.

So you're whining because there's a business who will hand deliver your mail for you, for a measly 64 cents? You could A) Send it UPS or FedEx, possibly costing you several dollars more than 64 cents, B) Take the mail yourself, possibly costing thousands of dollars, or C) Stop complaining because the USPS is ridiculously cheap considering the amount of work that goes into mailing your precious packages.

And what exactly tells you that it's "lazy [censored]es who voted for Obama" that work for the USPS? If you feel that way, maybe you shouldn't live in a town that's 12 miles from DC. Move out into the middle of the country where the rest of the republican hicks live.

United States Postal Service [USPS] non delivery due to neighbors actions

Years back our neighbor relocated his mail box... our mail was discontinued, then we advised the USPS that our neighbor had relocated his mail box. and the USPS disconitued HIS mail, based on the idea that he had relocated his mial box WITHOUT a permit. The neighbor screamed at the Postal worker every day and soon his mail service was reinstated, due to a "handicap".
Last month the USPS opted (again) to discontinue OUR mail service.
The mail service is reinstated, but we are wanting this fixed, either move his back box back to the original location OR give us something in writting that states our mail will NEVER AGAIN be discontinued because of someone else's (illegal) issues.
I have been in touch with the Arlington TX Post Master, who referred the case to Janice. She called and left me a vocie message of her Blackberry number and now neither her OR the Arlington Post Master will return communications.
Please advise what my next action could be.
Thank You, Cynthia Hunt

United States Postal Service [USPS] their employees are lazy and demonstrate poor people skills

I recently moved from Maine to Florida and have to say that Florida USPS totally sucks. For the most part, these employees in Florida are lazy and demonstrate poor people skills. The mail may or may not be dispersed with on time. In Maine, all mail is one day. Down here, it varies from thre days to two weeks. I even sent a letter via priority and was told it owuld be delivered in two days. It took two weeks! I hope the feds tank the United postal service and farm it out to competition based private companies.

United States Postal Service [USPS] usps is so incredibly disappointing

USPS is so incredibly disappointing. Unlike UPS or Fedex, they will NEVER leave a package with your neighbor and/or super, or anyone else you may trust. I made an online purchase because I didn't have time/want to go to the store. They made a delivery attempt on 01/21/10, and on the website they say a notice was left. THERE WAS NO NOTICE either on my mail box or by my door. I had to make several phone calls just to find out where my package was.

After trying to pick it up without success, I was only able to schedule a redelivery for tomorrow. Two days later. On the day the package was supposed to be delivered I left a note by my front door asking for the mail man to please leave my package with the neighbor (that ALWAYS works with UPS, and most of the time with Fedex).

I live by myself and am usually not home during the day. So what is my option to receive mail from USPS? This company should either be closed down or get seriously restructured.

The post office is putting me out of business! Just because they can't run a business doesn't mean that they need to do what eve they can to put me out! I have not received checks for my business that I have been receiving daily for years. Last month I stopped getting them and it cost me $23, 000! I can't afford to absorb these kind of blunders by our post office! They have passed the buck saying that it is the central office that is doing it, not them! Today, 12/5/11 Monday, I received absolutely no mail! Not even through away stuff! This is my biggest check day and mail day, and no mail? What a scam they are doing under the pretense of rules and organization! "I'm mad as hell and am not going to take it any more!"

Several times I have not received packages I ordered in mail including items that were sent to me from distant relatives for my birthday. I called several times to complain but all I was told that "lost"" mail ends up at the main office in Arkansas. I have also reason to believe some of my mail has been tampered with from a local employee in Opelouisas, La 70570 by someone named Robin Neal Pickett because he and I had a major falling out a few years ago mainly because he is highly unstable due to his usuage of drugs. It may not be all from him because any unisured package that was sent to me from Maryland, Texas, and Oklahoma I have yet to receive and considering 1 of them is over 4 months overdue I know I will not receive package. I sincerly hope your postal workers. Are nopt steaing mail. If you need to cantact me me email is d_bell_76@hotmaill.com. And my cell# is [protected], my name is David Bellard-thanks

United States Postal Service [USPS] delivery

We had company whose car was blocking our mailbox (it was past 5:00). Rather than get out of his vehicle or hold the mail for the next delivery our mail man chose to drop the letters on the ground, despite the fact that it was raining. I thought this was a poor way of handling the situation and makes me wonder the quality of employees working for our post office.

United States Postal Service [USPS] incorrect information by rude employee

This was the first time I was using the USPS service being new to the USA. I wanted to send a package to an international destination (India). It was extremely important to have the package delivered to India in no more than 6 business days.

I asked the post office employee for the fastest delivery service. He told me it was express mail which would reach in 3-5 business days. I had heard somewhere that there was an option to ensure that the package would reach in exactly 2 business days, so I asked the employee about it. He rudely responded to me saying that the information hadn't changed in the last one minute and I may be in need of updating my English comprehension skills. I was quite taken aback but sent the package nevertheless. The package hasn't reached India for two weeks and I have had to suffer some losses owing to that.

I later found out that express mail has no time guarantee by itself but the employee did not give me that information. Moreover there exists a global mail service in USPS which guarantees delivery in exactly 1-3 business days (with guaranteed service).
http://www.usps.com/international/globalexpressguaranteed.htm
http://www.usps.com/international/expressinternational_terms.htm

Again, the employee gave me no such information.

In my opinion, this is an example of gross incompetence and rudeness on part of the employee. It isn't a serious enough thing to be reported to the Inspector General, but it has surely been a very humiliating experience for me. Moreover I have lost nearly 30 dollars in exchange for that humiliation.

Ladyscott: Thank you for your detailed response. I appreciate your effort.

I did check the USPS website though, and India (and that includes the specific city I wanted to send my package to) IS one of the destinations listed for the service I was requesting.

United States Postal Service [USPS] lied to me and refuse to deliver my packages in a timely manner

Last 2 places I've lived they have lied to me and refuse to deliver my packages in a timely manner. Lately this has been what's been pissing me off, I live in an apartment complex now, right, common sense would be ok take it to the leasing office. No, this lazy bum decides to leave a sorry we missed you note in there, because they cant take 30seconds to walk across the damn street! On top of that, I called for an hour straight for nothing but a busy signal, and when I did get through, it's musical phonelines and they say oh we'll have it redelivered for you such n such day. I stayed home all day waiting on the so called promise and the package still isn't here! My last place, I worked at night so I was home all day and they had no excuse, they were too lazy to come down the driveway and give me my stuff. You'll quickly leave junk in the box no one cares about, but you won't give me my stuff that is actually important. and they wonder why people email everything or use UPS or FEDEX, THEY ACTUALLY DO THEIR DAMN JOB think about it!

United States Postal Service [USPS] stop being jerks

I arrived at my apartment complex mail box area, to find the USPS delivery man still slinging mail into our boxes, at 5:45 PM. I kindly approached the gentleman, and asked if I could get my mail from box# blah. He didn't remove his earplugs to hear me speak; he simply turned around and said, "I can't hand out mail." Mind you, I didn't ask him to hand me anything.

A kind mail delivery person might have locked the main door, and let a woman who has been at work all day, gotten out of her car in the rain to check her mail before heading home, and found that the mail had not yet been completed, unlock her box and check her mail. (I could see the small package I had been expecting all week sitting in my box). But because he "is busy, and behind already." "Alright, I'll wait, " I say. Then he, with a down-speaking tone, said "you'll be waiting a long time." I asked if I could please unlock my box and retrieve the mail that had already been placed in my box, and he said no. I told him I had never been treated so rudely by a USPS person (and that's a feat in itself, as they are routinely rude in every post office of which I've ever been a patron). I told him a formal complaint would be filed, and he cockily spouted off his name and route number, and said "I don't care if you do."

I sat in my car waiting for the guy to finish his already late delivery. Several others arrived to pick up their mail, and were turned away. Meanwhile I was calling the USPS service center for Raleigh 27612, trying to reach a supervisor or answering machine, but it just rang and rang.

What must have been 20 minutes and 5 gallons of gas later, a woman gets out of her vehicle. She approaches the mail man in much the same manner I had 30 minutes prior, and asks to get her mail.

He pushed the main door to the boxes closed and allowed the lady to unlock her box and retrieve her mail.

Fuming, I get out of my car and in front of both individuals I ask "Can I try this again and get my mail since you just allowed another person to get theirs?" He replied, "Did you come up here to argue with me or to get your mail?" To which I replied "I intended to get my mail 30 minutes ago, but when I asked kindly, you were rude to me."

Not liking my telling him exactly how everything had played out, he opened the door again, and said "you won't get your mail now at all." I restated that he had just let someone retrieve their mail in front of my very eyes, and that I didn't understand why he was being such a dick to me. In those words.

He became even ruder stating that he had called his supervisor and that he would be arriving any minute. I said that I would gladly speak to his supervisor.

Suddenly he appeared, took me aside and listened to my experience. As others approached their mailboxes, the supervisor kindly explained that the mailman was still delivering but would be finished in about 30 minutes, and they appropriately said, OK I'll come back. The supervisor then walked back around the corner, retrieved my mail, brought it to me, and apologized for the encounter. I told him that had the worker not been so rude, I would have walked away as others had. But at 5:45PM on a 10 hour work day, in the rain, the mail man had met his match in me. YOU DELIVERY MAIL TO THE PUBLIC BUT MAKE MORE MONEY THAN MOST OF IT. DON'T BE A JERK.
