Fresh food in the cold and hot displays not fresh
21cc Cnr Dyson Rd &, Goldsmith Dr, Noarlunga Downs SA 5168
Consistently over the past year, this petrol station/convenience store has not been changing out the pastries and cakes in their displays.
Doughnuts have mostly been stale and hard, occasionally the pies smell a bit off, and they seem to keep their pastries and cakes in these cases until sold, rather than throw them away after the standard keeping time is.
Not impressed.
I also notice that their chilled sandwiches are often out of date, and the bread is stale.
This is not a good look for Wooworths and Caltex, and I would suggest that you use the secret shopper principle to continually watch this franchise for a period of some months.
Given their shoddy practices, suitable for a third world country, I would also check the rest of their stock to see if they are actually rotating it properly.
Otherwise the place is clean and well ordered.
self serve express check
To night I did a weekly shop at Woolworth's in Alice Springs. I then proceeded to the self serve checkout ( only ones operating) I had a full trolley load $400.00 worth of groceries. I am then told by a Woolworth's employee that I took up to much space. He expected me to lean over the trolley and operate the check out. He continued on several occasion to interfere and tell how to operate the check out and hovered around the check out. Why wasn't I sent to a full sized check out or assisted by a Woolworth employee . He wound me up at the check out and it took me over 30 mins to check out. How does Woolworth expect to keep customer when shopper are expected to use the self serve check outs designed for half a dozen items and then have Hitler laying down the law. I have been a supporter of Woolworth's for most of my life but now Cole's is looking some what better. Woolworth Alice Springs should do a survey asking what customers think of there single stand alone express chec kouts. I think cutting cost will be the end of Woolworth's in Alice Spring.
35 years a customer to Woolworth's
I reread the post, and you are correct. I misread that. Unfortunately, as the poster has learned, after normal business hours only the self checkout lanes will be open. This is the way it is here in the US too in many stores that are 24 hours.
Wine Is Good, you should reread what she said. The self-serve machines were the only ones open, there was no regular checkout open for her to go through
Self checkout is just that: you do it yourself. If you wanted help, you should have went to a regular check out lane. Why should they have to send you to one in the first place? Having a full cart of groceries should have been a no brainer.
sausages
We had been buying and consuming Woolworths sausages for a few years. On a household and at a club level. However a couple of months ago the recipe changed. We noticed this by the large amount of fat excreted by the sausages when cooked, they also tasted of fat. We thought it was just a bad batch and fed the sausages to our dogs. We purchased another tray of sausages a couple of weeks later and to our disappointment this tray of sausages also excreted a large amount of fat. Now I am buying sausages from one of Woolworths major competitors. As with most shopping, if I am forced to purchase one product from a competitor than I am more likely to do most of my shopping with that competitor.
Further I thought that Australian Standards had a maximum percentage of fat allowed in sausages. To our palate Woolworths seems to have exceeded this amount.
bbq chicken
I purchased a BBQ chicken on the 30th March at 14:41. Transaction 1846.
As stated on the bag the chicken was cooked at 13:30 .
Later that day I broke the chicken apart to feed to my family for our evening meal to find the chicken had been well undercooked. The flesh would not peel from the bone easily and there was a sizeable amount of blood from the bones and flesh.
This was discovered too late as I had already fed a small amount to my toddler daughter who is currently experiencing food poisoning symptoms.
Being a loyal Woolworths customer I am very disappointed with the compromised standards I have experienced on this occasion.
I look forward to a response on this matter.
I am complaining about being treated unfairly by one of you employee
Hi, I work in the same shopping plaza as woolworth at Harbour town. I bought a product from another store a few days ago and had it in my bag & the alarm went off on the way in to woolworth store & the lady just waved me in to say it was fine. On the way out, the alarm beeped. So they checked my back and found the item that was beeping. I understand that there is a protocol that has to be done and was fine with this. but the lady who dealt with this situationwas really quite rude to me and treated me poorly when I was trying my best to cooperate within the circumstances. Once I proved that the item didn't come from Woolworth, I was allowed to go & she just huffed at me. I have had another person complain to myself that she was quite rude to them as well. I ended up in tears before work due to her poor behavior. She was an older woman with short blonde hair. I have not wanted to step back into that store due to embarrassment & not wanting to encounter her again. She obviously has very poor customer service. A part from this incident, I have only had good encounters with the rest of the staff. Thank you for reading my complaint.
prohibited times for residential noise & light pollution - outside epa standards
* Woolworths Delivery Trucks Arriving and Reversing with beeping at all hours - 2230hrs through to 0600hrs.
* Same with a delivery truck for what I believe to be the butchers.
However not only do they come through from around 2330hrs to 0100hrs but they don't slow down for the speed bumps and make a terrible racket.
* Light Pollution into my bedroom however I will be getting a light level reading done next week to prove this.
* Just recently for the past two nights in a row (22/23rd March 16), car park line markers have been arriving around 2100hrs and not leaving until I complain, around 2330hrs.
* I phoned Woolworths store Margate at 2300hrs on the 23rd of March and spoke to a Manager there called "Rob"
who's uncouth response was continually say, " it has nothing to do with him and was council workers & For me to tell them to stop" He wouldn't talk to them nor give me his last name.
* I was trying to put up with the Woolworths Semi's coming at all ours but since the store managers attitude with the line markers I've had enough.
* I require this to be rectified immediately otherwise I will be taking further action - EPA / Council / Local Member... Just to name a few. I'm tired and now at my whits end and will now go to any length for the residential guide lines to be met.
(Speak of the devil... A Woolworths Semi has just arrived and it's 0045hrs on the 24th of March, 2016)
The complaint about the line markers is a bit ridiculous and the manager has no control over them
ling fish and onions
On Monday 21 March following Woolworth's advertising Ling Fish for Easter we went to Point Cook Town Centre in VIC for Ling Fish but they only had 2 Ling fillets in stock. We then went to the Hoppers Crossing store only to be told they don't get Ling in stock and was told to go to the Toorak store which is about 30 minutes drive. We then went to Woolworth's Featherbrook Point Cook about 10 minutes drive to discover they had Ling Fish and purchased approx 3 kg's and also bought Onions. When I can home and opened the fish the smell was awful. I assumed it may just need a fresh wipe-off which I did and placed in our cold fridge at 2 degrees celsius over-night. The next morning when I checked to see if ok, the smell had not dissipated instead I had to clean the whole fridge and as I needed to get to work, I simply dumped the fish as it was bin day down the road and could not stand the smell to keep it any longer to return to Woolworth's. I then bought fish from Vic Market. That night when cutting the onions from Woolworth's most had black mould under the skin resulting in me removing approx 3 layers. What a total disaster...SO MUCH FOR CALLING WOOLWORTH'S THE FRESH FOOD PEOPLE...WHAT A JOKE WOOLWORTHS...I WILL NEVER GO BACK...COLES IS 100% BETTER!
behaviour of staff member
I am very disgusted by a staff member at woolworths Campbell street Hobart.
Her name was Maia.
Her attitude and work ethic towards me was horridious! When I asked her where a product was she rudely told me she didn't know. When I asked if she could find it or find someone who could she looked at me huffed and walked off. When she came back she said its cancelled stock. I then said but woolworths eastlands does and she shrugged her shoulders and says oh well it doesn't matter, their independent stores. Doesn't matter if they have them, it's a cancelled stock here, I said oh ok and she said very rudely go to eastlands then if it's there.
I was so astonished that she said that. It was so rude and she needs to be taught customer service or not have a job at all!
service
I am writing to you to explain about a bad experience I had at Sandy Bay Woolworths on March 17th 2016.
It is appalling to witness an employee (April) of such a respected company to behave in such a manner. I am currently eight months pregnant and was trying to reach for a product where her and a fellow employee were doing stock work, although I excused myself she not only gave me a disgusting look and whispered to the employee with her, but refused to make way for me to get passed. I was both shocked and disappointed to have been treated in this way and believe you should be made aware of your employees actions.
I trust this is not how you do business at Woolworths and that you will be mentioning my concern with April about the incident. I am open to discussing the matter and should hope that you will respond with a solution to prevent this kind of incident from reoccurring.
pizza/chicken
I watched in horror as a staff member name ( Irene) in the deli Sunday morning probed the cooked chickens and then threw the probe into a trolley to be used on chickens again.Absolute filth Woolworth's WOLLICREEK, Princes highway SYDNEY.. Later on old women (Irene)continuously ignoring customers, stood reading book whilst several people were queuing include me on the pizza bar and engaged for pasting this stupid note on the wall...
I used to be impressed with wollies service, but in recent times it has gone irregular and disappointing.so i am hoping the poor service issues will be resolved.
Will not be using it again, time to try Coles.
Just so you know, all chicken probes are wiped down with a sanitizing cloth just before use.
lack of international products
I was looking forward to the opening of a new Woolworths in Launceston. I thought great there will be a wider range of products especially international specialties like cheeses, authentic Mexican foods such as tomatillos, authentic Indian foods, herbs, porcini mushrooms, a variety of olives and so much more. I was so disappointed when I first entered the store and there were the same old products. I even asked the assistant manager if more variety was coming only to be told that no Tasmanian stores do not stock exotic products to make room for more Tasmanian produce. This is great but our stores lack variety. We are not peasants without sophisticated tastes so please don't treat us as such, and this goes for your coffee too which tasted more like milk than coffee.
I am happy to find other stores to shop at and so are over 80 of my friends.
service
I disgusted at the lack of customer service at Woolworths in Mackay. A staff member stood reading a magazine whilst several people were queuing at only two checkouts. I had to take my groceries through self serve. There were no staff monitoring the self serve instead they were congregating in the 'customer service bar' chatting to each other. When I did request help the staff were rude and slow to help as though I were inconveniencing them! A staff member named Diane was particularly inattentive to customers. It's the last time I ever shop there!
kids riding scooters in store
Today between 220 pm and 2330 pm, three teenage children were riding razor scooters inside the store . I complained to one of the employees who did not respond . I told one of the boys riding a scooter he should not be riding a scooter in the store, why didn't one of the Woolworth's employees or Manager undertake this? I f an elderly person or other customer was hit by one of these scooters causing injury, Woolworth's would be liable and subject to litigation.
Woolworth's has a responsibility and a duty of care to provide a safe environment for customers and the general public inside its stores and premises . Today this was not enforced .
lack of palm oil free products
Very disappointed at the significantly large proportion of products containing palm oil at Woolworths. given the significant impact of harvesting Palm oil, both 'certified' and not, on wildlife, such as the orangutan. Habitat loss is the number one threatening process that will cause this species to go extinct if no attitude is changed towards 1) ensuring your products correctly label their ingredients and not hide it behind 'vegetable oil' and 2) stop agreeing to stock products that contain Palm oil full stop this species as well as their precious habitat will be extinct. Consumers deserve the right to know the Impact their food choices are making and deserve to be able to make a difference with conserving animals, not adding to the devastating cause. In years to come it will look absolutely pathetic if creatures like the orangutan are extinct as we were too lazy to substitute it with an ingredient without such a significant impact on endangered wildlife all over 'snack' products more or less, as well as things like dish washing detergents. Woolworths is meant to support the community, and we want environmental and wildlife endorsing products.
I plead with you as Woolworths has so much power and by enforcing this on the products you stock, this would be widely supported and more so the orangutans, who share 97% of our DNA and have the intelligence of at least 5 year olds, would be incredibly thankful for this change.
It is up to the major suppliers of the world and in Australia to save this species from becoming extinct.
Please, think of our future and how simple this really can be to ensure we can live in harmony with wildlife.
Incorrect product received
I am writing to complain about the service at the cigarette counter at Woolworths Plumpton. This is the second time I have asked for 2 packets of Horizon Blue 50's and received Horizon Blue menthol 50's.
I apparently cannot exchange the incorrect cigarettes as it is illegal. It is a very expensive lesson for me, around $70, to make sure that I check the packet before I leave the counter, as I can't trust that I am getting what I have asked for and paid for.
I am extremely unhappy with the attitude of the staff as it was their error not mine. In future I will grocery shop and buy my cigarettes from Coles.
I do very much sympathize with the horrible experience you endured... but what I can't believe is that there are still Woolworth's around! I thought they went extinct some time in the '70's! But alas, you are in another country so what do I know? Glad you're spending your money 💸 elsewhere! ☺
May you have happy shopping from now on! 👜🚬
customer service
I come from South Australia and been living here in Darwin for 3 months. I was shock to see staff here very rude, impolite, abrupt and unhelpful, especially in Coolalinga woollies. Many times I say hello to the check out person and not getting any response. Greeting customers doesn't cost anything, it's free, why so grim and why can't they acknowledge or at least response to a greeting. Your employees need a lot of training on to deal with customer and how to attract customers to come back and buy your products. Successful business begins with a good service. Pls. No need to be rude, just say hello back, at least. And customers doesn't want to see faces that seems uninterested and annoyed. I'm just a normal shopper, expecting to be treated as others. If you don't want me saying " Good morning" you shouldn't be in that job.
Why do I have to wait 10 minutes for a checkout to be open on a Saturday morning? Lady in charge of self service tells me that they have no staff! One employee doing 12 items or less. One doing nothing behind cigarette counter and another employee talking to a lady with a trolley behind the same counter. I refuse to go through self serve...eventually employee taken off 12 items or checkout and opened up a register. Meanwhile 3 people waiting behind me. At least one register should be open or if not why does it take 6 mins for employee at self serve to notice me and even then I had to call out. ?
service
I just had a terriable day with woolworth both online and in store. I placed an
online order yesterday ( 29/Feb) order number [protected], items included 1 tin
baby formular and 36 binky bites. I received my delivery order at 6:45 pm today, and 20 of binky bites were changed to some biscuits I never seen before! I did not get any phone call telling me, and they just made the decision for me by providing me unuseful products! only one e mail was sent to my inbox saying 1.9 dollar refund rather than explaining exchanged items. then I called woolworth online, after waiting 11 mins the guy on the phone just simply hang me off the line!I had to drive to the nearest woolworth where located at underwood shopping centre. A young lady agreed giving me
refund of 20 items I did not order, but another senior lady( 55-65 years old blonde with glasses) came and took over and gave me 66 dollars refund which should be 71.8 dollars! I explained to her I got the sample ( binky bite from my home) and the sample I already paid! The old lady went mad and threw every single items (20 wrong delivery items) in front of everybody and telling me she had gave me all the refund I should get! the point was she made a mistake because she thought the sample was I took from their store, but it was from one of my correct items at home. I was trying to explain the misunderstanding issue to her, but she refused to listen and just walked away! The store manager just came over one time and spoke that old lady without even say anything to me, which was creepy! finally the young lady came back with a young guy, they listen to me carefully the whole story and gave me a refund of 3.59 dollars. I never want to take any advantage from anybody, just want to be fair! I was so disappointed with woolworth online service and the old lady and store manager at woolworth underwood! lucky the young lady and boy were helpful to me for I was not thought be a stupid greedy ugly guy! I got a terriable feeling and I will tell every single person I know about this! And I may never back to woolworth (I used to love)
lack of hot chickens and pricing of dog food
I went to Woolworths last Thursday the 25th of February after work to pick up a roast chicken for dinner. The time was around 5.30 and there were no chickens available and none in the oven. This is not the first time over the last few weeks this has happened on two other occasions. The staff on the night were in a back room and one young man simply walked into a backroom and was chatting with a co worker even though my wife had walked up to the counter. I would suggest that staff either put up a sign to explain the situation or at least talk to a customers enquiry. As a long time customer to say I am disappointed is currently an understatement.
Also when I went to buy a roll of dog meat I found the price some 70-80 cents dearer than Coles.
We walked out of the shop and commenced our shopping at Coles with a much better result.
milk
I have been very disappointed that Woolworth's have discontinued their 1 litre milk in cardboard cartons late last year around Melbourne.
I find that the milk that is packaged in plastic containers to be of an off flavour.
This I believe is caused by interference by light. The fridges at all supermarkets are all so brightly lit, that UV? Light effects the milk and turns it.
This never happened to milk packaged in cardboard cartons.
I would like to see the cardboard carton back on the shelves. If not possible install sensor lights in the fridges, like they have in the frozen food section.
I recently visited a Woolworth's store in Wooding and found that they still have the cardboard carton, so why cant we in Melbourne?
Please learn the actual science behind light before making such ridiculous complaints
Lack of product
Being a customer for more than forty odd years am appalled regarding products advertised in your catalogue dated 24 February 2016. On page 20 you show fresh Ling Fillets at $25.00 a Kilo. However when I fronted the Sea Food section of the Hastings store I was told that they did not have any available and I asked were you out of stock and the reply was no we never have have Ling for sale. This is discusting as we are a coastal town on the shores of Western Port bay here in Victoria. Is the problem is that the Manager wont order the Ling or the store does not have the facility to keep the fresh Ling fillets in a saleable condition. Irrespective of the reason I am discussed, this is not the first it has happened. I noticed at the bottom of one of the pages (page 4 in very small print) that certain items might not be available at the stores listed but Hastings does not appear.
Yours a very unsatisified customer but could fix it.
Bert Badrock.
