rental/ rude staff and manager
I reserved through Expedia. I asked the representative, Daniel, if they had an Expedition before he charged me as we were looking for a full size SUV with sufficient trunk space. We assured me that they did. When I go pick up vehicle, they give me a Tahoe which has a very small trunk. I tell the employee that Daniel assured me they had an Expedition and...
Read full review of Alamo Rent A Carwhen returning rental car on october 24, 2019 was informed of damage to front bumper.
Upon returning the car at Savannah Airport on 10/24/19, the agent asked if we were aware of damage to the front bumper. We told him we were not, but that we had not damaged the car in any manner.
When the car was picked up at Bradley Airport there was no walk around the car by the agent there and we were merely pointed to the car in the lot and told to take it. We explained this to the agent in Savannah and he said not to worry as 99% of the time nothing will become of such incidents.
We are not responsible for this damage and should not be held liable for any damage we did not cause.

After using your companies for many car hires i regret to inform you that i have to highlight shocking service from my last hire
we were on holiday in orlando hiring a car with alamo
we were with thomas cook and as you know they went bust. This was a very stressful time as i was on holiday with my family of 4. We went to the airport to return to the uk and i knew we had a 16 hour delay
on returning our car we were told by the clerk - you need to go and see the manager. We went in to the manager office who told us that he would be debiting my credit card as instructed by his bosses. The reason for this is that your agreement with thomas cook is that they pay our rental money 90 days after i return my car - this is your agreement with thomas cook not mine - i paid my money to thomas cook
i advised the manager that i refused to pay this transaction. He became aggressive and told me to leave as he was debiting my card - i said i do not authorise this payment
not only did he debit my card £189 on the 24th sep but another £89 was debited on 3 oct 2019 - no notice, no letter, no phone call - just debit my card - i would ask is this legal
i request that these payments are credited back to my account
during our holiday we had a flat tyre. I called your help line and they said just change the tyre with the spare - guess what no spare tyre. They said use the puncture repair kit - guess what no repair kit. They said we will be out in 1.5 hours. Six hours later - yes six hours later alamo turned up to help us - thats six hours with a young family abandoned at the side of the road - please let me know what your thoughts are on this
i did advise your manager but he did not want to know
i had to make 6 expensive phone calls to your company to chase up for help and i would like these calls reimbursed
i would also like to ask what level of compensation you feel is appropriate for this shocking service
as i mentioned i have used various car rental under the enterprise umbrella and found the service great however this occasion i was let down badly which has caused me significant financial loss, inconvenience and distress
your investigation, comments and actions are greatly appreciated
allan

service unacceptable
I rented a car at Alamo at Charleston, SC on 10/19 to 10/24. Upon return, I was told there was damage by an "agent" who could not or would not verify if the damage was there before I rented the car, as I told him it was. Instead, he wasted my time, was rude and refused to even attempt to determine if what I was saying was true. After 10 minutes of hearing...

I have been rent many cars from different companies from Airport to 5a. Region (Valparaiso and Vina del Mar) where my relatives live. I try Alamo this time and I pay in advance online for the total price required. As surprised time to pick the car I was obligated to pay TAG which is exclusive to Santiago and metropolitan areas.in provinces TAG wont exist and all Tolls it need pay Manual (cash). I was overcharged in US 216, 58. Plus I did sign another form, guarantee need for robbery and/or accidents who I believe was return to me time I bring back the car. Office keep it that form.
Reason to refused pay the TAG inside not to get key car and service charges if I decided pull off the contract. Refund will take a while also.in resume I felt it was an "extortion" from this Alamo Agent with no choice to me to sign accepting this overcharged. I did request information about to other Car competition whom consider it as an "abused charges". I have send previously an e-mail to other Alamo page with no response.. hope this time I can get an answer. From today I will wait 48 hrs. to get a response otherwise I will proceed this complain to my Visa company to get this exceed charged back to account. My e-mail is: [protected]@yahoo. ca

cracked on driver side of the window
I was given a 2019 Buick Enclave during the wee hours of the morning (it was dark) due to the car selection I had chosen there were none available on 8/27/19.
I was happy because I needed the extra room due to traveling out of state. However, I had pulled into the gas station in New Mexico and was wiping the windows. I noticed the line would not go away, so I went inside to see if I wipe the window it might help. Nope! To my and I my surprise someone glued the cracked from the inside of the vehicle. The crack did not move and I kept my eyes on it the entire trip. I was in 100+ degree weather.
It's return day 9/26/19 at LAX Alamo. I asked for the supervisor and he tell me a report is required. Why? I called and reported it as soon as I saw it on 8/27. I have proof and can track my call and time. A female who took my report did not add it to my rental as promised. I am pissed because why would I had inform the counter rep and the supervisor male Asian decent. He was not sympathetic to my concern. I have great insurance and I would have taken care of it if it was my fault but it was not. He walks out and take a picture. I asked for a discount and was denied because your organization placed my safety at risk. He told me it did not pose a danger. Bull***t if I was Asian he would have given me a discount. What if it would have decided to spread and I was in the mountains in no mans land I would have been injured and stuck.
I came to the conclusion that Alamo glued the window to prevent the spread of the crack and charged me the regular amount without consideration of the consumer. And the supervisor said the window will be prepared, so I guess more glue to keep it from spreading. And as all of my previous rentals the oil / wiper notification came on. I guess LAX do not provide vehicles that are well maintained.
Alamo personnel do not realize without paying consumers they would not be in business. I feel like I was being called a liar. I should have received 30-50% off my original cost. And or receive a free 3 day rental if they do not want to compromise. I might have to look at Hertz or Dollars for future rentals because I am not a liar. Last, I want to rent from a company that care about my safety and listen to the consumer without being judgmental.

lost jacket
We returned our rental on Friday, Sept 13 around 5:30pm at the Denver International Airport. Upon getting in the TSA line I remembered I didn't have my jacket which was forgotten in the back seat of the 2019 Silver Elantra rental. I filed a lost and found claim immediately after getting through the TSA line which was a little over an hour after the car was dropped off. The lady who took the returned car didn't give me a receipt so I don't have a VIN number. This has been over a week and they claim it was never found - I FIND THIS TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO BELIEVE as the jacket was in the back seat under my husband's backpack, he thought I took it and I thought he took it. I wore it on Friday so I know for a fact I had it with me but took it off as the day warmed up. It is a royal blue St John Bay rain jacket, size large with two pockets each having 2 snaps with an attached hood. This is my Alamo Reference Number: [protected]. My name is Cheryl Mayers, 625 Bedford Dr., Westland MI [protected]. I couldn't find a direct telephone number to Alamo @ the airport or I would of called them directly. IF my jacket is not found I will never, ever rent from Alamo again as in my opinion they cannot be trusted!

overcharging of rental
I took a car on rent from Alamo on 4-Aug 9:21 PM (Dulles Airport) and returned on 7-Aug 11:08 PM (Newark Airport). Rental Duration :3 days and 1: hour & 47 min. While renting the car ALAMO said, if I delay by 2/3 hours there is no problem.
They charged me US$ 963 for 4 days (average of US$ 240)
I requested for a refund and ALAMO offered for a half a day refund of only rental charges. (ie.85$), I complained repeatedly, and requested for at least 125$ refund, but ALAMO is adamant.
I honestly feel cheated.
Can anyone suggest me away forward to close this issue?

car damage
Hello,
I rented a Peugeot 308 for 4 days at Calvi airport (FJ-659-BV).
On returning the car the person in charge told me that the underneath of the body was indented. I was blamed for this damage but there is no damage to the paintwork so the car had evidently not hit any object. The damage is adjacent to the jacking point and it seems clear that someone has jacked the car without using the correct jacking point. The car did two 40 km round trips on the road and spent most of the time in a parking slot in a closed residence so this was certainly not me that caused this damage. To see the damage you either have to stoop down or stand back a fair distance, something which I did not do on inspecting the car, but lo and behold it's the first thing he spotted when I returned the car. This smells of a set-up job and I will contest this to the end and report this scam to the authorities and the associated forums if I'm charged a penny for this damage.

Alamo Rental Car False Claim
I am a traveling nurse and rent cars all the time either myself or a recruiting company rent one for me. I never had car damage throughout my traveling. This time I have rented a car from Alamo in Virginia and return it in Atlanta Georgia. Two months after I return the vehicle, I received a damage car claim for $1227.16. I responded with emails, requesting detailed information.
No response from TYLER L BAGBY [protected]@erac.com, only another note. "As of the above date (4/12/19), we have not received a response from you regarding our claim as documented."
I have sent numerous emails and asked for details
Here is my request:
To whom it may concern,
In response to the accusation of car damage and demanding payment, there are several documentations I am requesting as proof the damage was done by me as claimed.
Here are the 5 documents I am legally allowed and requesting:
1. Written description and photographic proof of the damage.
2. A copy of a repair bill.
3. Utilization log, which is a record of every rental for that specific car since I rented it. If the rented vehicle was many times since I returned it, I am requesting proof that I, and not another driver, caused the alleged damage.
4. Proof of communicating with my insurance to start a claim.
5. Copy of a rental contract signed by me at the time of the rental agreement.
No response.
Today I have received a notice from a Collector Agency written on August 22.
I would like people to know how Alamo is treating their customers. I will continue to post this issue on social media until Alamo answers. Today, I have posted this message on Facebook, Twitter, and Linked

lost key
I had rented a car, Mitsubishi asx with alamo. I lost the keys, as it was stolen by a lady when seen in cc footage. I was new to melbourne, and since the lady who took my key might steal the car, I had to stay looking after car in such chilly weather. They said they were closed at 9 pm so I had nonwhere to tow it. I rented a USV in EWR Airport from Alamo Rental, and on 7-04-19 a rear privacy window was shattered while I was sleeping.I sent Alamo the Police report and called an Alamo representative and he told me that I don't have nothing to worry about because their insurance will cover for the damage and that I'm a valuable customer for them and they gave me another USV.Now I received a letter where they say that I'm responsible to pay for the damage and want me to pay $448.02.

rent a car
Here is what happened with me last 4th of July.
We rented a car with Alamo at Orlando International Airport July/2 to return it July/7 reservation [protected].
We're driving to Washington DC and not even 3 hours from Orlando a warning started showing up at the panel saying " coolant low level", I called the road assistance and they asked me to keep driving and checking temperature, in case it went high we should stop and call them again but when arriving in Washington we could go to any Alamo or Enterprise that they'd add the fluid to the car. Which made me upset for the first time, how you can rent a car without checking all fluids ?and a Premium car ? But anyways... arriving in Washington I called Enterprise closer to our hotel, they said they didn't work with Alamo and transferred me to Alamo customers service.
First person told me Alamo don't deliver fluids only Fuel then told me the insurance I hired would not give me any kind of assistance ( ? What insurance company is Alamo working with ?) and told me I'd have to take the car to a place to do it by my self which sounded like a joke, this was not my fault, I asked to talk to somebody eles, she transferred me to another person that " tried" to help me, making another reservation at the Alamo closer to the hotel reference number [protected].
She asked me to go there Sunday 7/7 and exchange my car, they'd have same category. When I checked the reservation [protected] date and time and also location I should return the car were wrong, and they'd charge me a difference, which was unfair once it was never my fault. At this point I had extended my stay in Washington bc when I tried to modify this reservation returning the car to Orlando a message said there were no cars available.
I called Alamo again, it was informed that I should go to Washington airport and try to exchange my car there bc they couldn't do it thru the phone not even tell me if they had cars there or not. I asked for the phone number for that Alamo and the person over there told me that he couldn't find my information using my last reservation number, that number was incorrect even though I was telling him this number was in my email and also on my Alamo app, he said he couldn't do anything.
We decided to drive back to Orlando with that car, it took 15 hours bc we constantly had to stop to avoid the temperature goes high, we had planned to return our car in Orlando 7/7 by 9:00 pm, we did it by 1:30 am 7/8 and they charged us more.
So I paid about $ 800 to rent a car, couldn't enjoy our trip because of the stress and all phone calls I had to make, each one took about 30 min without any solution, and we had to pay extra for returning a car out of time frame for something that wasn't our fault. So extra day at the hotel, extra pay for returning a car without time frame and any help when I needed it. What kind company does it to a customer?
.
toll charges on rental car
I was told ther toll pass was activated and ready for my use in the vehicle, I was NEVER told i would be paying the tolls at a later date, I asked twice about this and the rep, said it was included. I returned the car 2 weeks ago and now I have deductions coming out of my account on a daily basis. Alamo said there is nothing they can do about it, so now I have to deal with the state of Mass. highway tool system.
Alamo should explain that process, especially when you ask twice.

attempted price gouging
I had a reservation at Jackson Hole Airport for a four-day rental with Alamo in mid July. Unfortunately, my inbound flight was missed due to a mechanical delay on the previous flight, and I was only able to fly in to Jackson Hole the following morning. After numerous attempts to reach the staff at the Alamo desk in Jackson Hole (at least six calls over a span of an hour and a half went completely unanswered), I called the reservations line. The agent I spoke with was happy to adjust the reservation but then told me it would be a price increase of over $90 (33% more) to have the car for one less day. When I asked if we could work out another arrangement for picking up the car he said he would check with his supervisor. At this point the line suddenly started dialing again, and I found myself speaking to another agent who had no previous knowledge of my call. So I started the process over. The second agent had great difficulty with English and kept repeating things back incorrectly - wrong city, wrong res numbers, etc. He clearly could not understand English very well (mind you I speak for a living and do so in a clear, non-accented manner). At this point I gave up because my next flight was leaving. My wife called again and tried to sort things out, but the agent she spoke to also insisted on a rate of $90 more for fewer days with the car. So, we just cancelled the reservation and I went back online to book another car. Sadly, no other companies had cars available for pick-up in the terminal, so I had to re-book with Alamo. Lo and behold, I was able to re-book at a price only $30 more for the same car in the same location. Clearly this suggests that the effort to charge me $90 more than my original rate was an attempt at price gouging directed at a person who was struggling with travel difficulties already. At the very least it's an example of acting in bad faith. I don't recall booking with Alamo in the past, but based on this experience, I do not believe I can trust them in the future and feel compelled to do business elsewhere.
