I tried to light the pilot, but I had no luck
I ordered my propane early, and it was delivered in a timely manner (no complaints). I tried to light the pilot, but I had no luck. A friend came over and he tried and was also unsuccessful. I tried to call Amerigas, but that's a joke. The usual waiting time was 82 to 90 minutes, but amazingly I finally got through I spoke with the representative, and he said let me check to see it they do repairs in your area. When he got back on the phone he said they did and they would call me back in 2 to 3 days. Of course, that never happened. Even when I explained that I am 74 years old and that is my main source of heat. I think that Amerigas took on more than they can handle. You have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with!
Automated answering service.
I have trying to get in contact with someone at America's for over 2 weeks to purchase a 500 gallon underground propane tank. No luck.
I live in Jasper Texas.
Desired outcome: Get a call to get a quote.
Delivery services
I placed an order to refill my 500 gallon tank on 12/2. The tank was at 20% full. I received a text saying they would be here between 12/3 and 12/14. I called their automated system and confirmed the delivery twice.
Today is 12/14. My tank has dropped down to 5% so I need to be here when they fill. I called to find when they would be here.
The customer service rep started lecturing me about calling when the tank is down to 30% instead of 20%. When I told her that I didn't need a lecture and that I need my tank filled, she told me it would be a $300 fee to get them out here today otherwise it would be 7 - 10 days.
I asked to speak to her supervisor (Nicole) and after 30 minutes waiting on hold someone named Lisa picked up and told me that I had been sent to their general telephone call line and she did not know the supervisor (Nicole) that I was waiting for.
It is winter, I have children in the house and need propane for heat. AmeriGas is not delivering the service they said they would as such, they are jeopardizing the safety of my family.
I'm currently having the same issue. Its almost 1 month and they have not delivered my gas. Are there any regulatory agencies we can report this issue to. Its ridiculous.
I am in the same boat as you. I ordered and paid for a delivery 3 weeks ago. I have now run out of propane. I have no heat or hot water and all they tell me is they will send someone out. I have a disabled son with body temperature regulation issues, it’s 7 degrees here and nothing! Other than sorry, someone will call you. 3 weeks! Who regulates this, who is held responsible?
customer service, contacting, delivery
I am serviced by Amerigas of Colchester, Killngworth, CT. My delivery schedule has been changed. When I call the phone numbers provided there is no answer, or 80+minute wait time. I ordered a delivery on 11/18/20, with an indicated delivery of 7 - 10 days. @ 12/8/20, still no delivery..

Grill propane tank exchange
I needed a refill on my grills propane tank and went to the local Sam's Club (Loveland, CO) and used the Amerigas vending machine in front of the store. I did everything as instructed including paying for the exchange cylinder ($15.84). I put my empty tank in the top carousel, closed the door and the bottom carousel door opened. I took out the tank assuming that was my exchange with full propane. However, it was empty! I paid for an empty propane tank. I verified that it was empty by weighing it — about 15 ponds — the tare weight as listed on the tank collar.
I asked Sam's Club personnel and they said it was not their responsibility. The phone number on the vending machine was for the main headquarters — not he local distributor. I called it anyway, but there was no answer after 15 minutes. I located the phone number of the local distributor in Fort Collins, CO and they have a call wait time of more than an hour-ridiculous — I wouldn't wait that long. The wait time did not significantly change over the 2 days I've tried to reach them.
I received a receipt as printed by the vending machine — but I can't read it because apparently it is out of ink. I have bank records to verify this purchase though. I want this resolved because I do no like to be scammed even if it was not intentional. The purchase date was 12/2/2020.

Lack of concern
In the terms and conditions stated by amerigas (pg. 6 last paragraph) in bold capitalized words "do not run out of gas, serious safety hazards, including fire and expolision, can result." I wont mention the following notes below this headline. With that being said I am beyond frustrated with reason that I have now dropped far below the mentioned 20% fuel level. I called on nov. 17th noticing it was at 20% even though my account is set for regular forecasted deliveries. After that I continued to call daily for the past 2 weeks. It is now dec 2nd and I have been told 5 times I was put on the emergency delivery request which would take 24 to 48 hours. As frustration built I requested twice to speak with a supervisor but they were unavailable both times. My last phone call today I was again told I was put on the emergency request and that I should receive tomorrow. Because I have been told the same thing prior I decided I would call the emergency phone number. The associate specified that this line only deals with leaks but inquired more for me. Come to find out it was flagged but there was not an estimated date of delivery, meaning to me, I was not even on the coordinators dispatch and not included to be part of the route tomorrow. This representative insured me she spoke directly to the dispatch and that I will need to be present tomorrow when the delivery comes because of the of the current percentage. I do believe that there must be a lack of communication within the company and that there is a lack of transparency to the costumers. I do have to say I did talk to 3 particular associates that seemed to really care and did all they could in the position they hold within the company. I do hope to receive the request that has been put off for 2 weeks.
Delivery request; customer service contact
Since Amerigas purchased Heritage, human contact is gone! I live in a mountain community that is remote! I could always depend on my tank being filled in november in anticipation of snow or inclement weather! We have a whole home generator and our gas furnace which both eat the gas! I have been set for delivery on november 16 & nothing! My tank is at 35%. Your gauge on the website shows 42%! I used 5% from saturday to tuesday! It would be comforting to at least have someone to talk to. I am a 15 year customer and really don't want to leave. Every time I call the recording tells me I have a wait of at least 60 minutes! That is not right
I am having problems getting a refund for their work that was not done properly.

non-existent customer service, breaking/entering customer's property
I do not have an Amerigas account. I tried to establish one, but they claimed my address already had an account. The previous owner of my home had an account, which she closed in April, 2019.
Amerigas came to the home on the day we closed, and filled the LPG tanks, inspected the tanks, and were notified we'd purchased the home and needed a new account.
In September, Amerigas came onto my property and capped off/locked two tanks, one of which they own (had been leased to previous owner), and capped a tank owned by the home.
LET ME REITERATE.
AMERIGAS BROKE INTO A LOCKED GATE, ON WHICH THERE IS A "NO-TRESPASSING SIGN", AND LOCKED OFF LPG TANKS THEY DO NOT OWN OR LEASE. In any realistic world, this would be breaking and entering, with theft as an add-on.
They did not notify us that they were coming, and did not notify us that they'd been.
They *broke* through a locked gate, marked "NO TRESPASSING" in order to do so.
Then, they wanted a $150.00 inspection fee, wanted to charge us for the gas in the tank that the previous owner paid for, and want another $250 to uncap the tank that is privately owned (same tank they capped without permission).
When we threatened them with legal action and going to the BBB, they said "We don't want to do business with you, so 'eff off. " Now we are stuck with locked tanks, can't feed our stove, fireplace, nor spa and it's 30 degrees outside.
These are horrible people. I feel the local manager, Mr. Najarian, is a racist, foul-mouthed pig, on top of being a liar having made multiple claims about the previous owner of our home not having paid her bills (she sent us a copy of the closed account/paid balances), that the tanks were unsafe (Amerigas inspected the tanks when we took ownership), and that the previous owner had not transferred the fuel to us (the previous owner had written a letter Xferring the fuel). He also promised to amend the problem the same day, and it's 2 months past his promise, ergo, a lie.
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.
propane delivery, scheduling inspection and tank removal.
I contacted Amerigas of Port Hadlock to deliver propane to my address which I already had a rented tank from them. It had been some time since my last propane delivery, so they said they needed to do an inspection of the system. I agreed and set up an appointment for a employee to do the inspection. Amerigas could not give me a time for the inspection on the scheduled day, but said they would call. I stayed home that specific day for the inspection, but no call.
I had to leave for a couple of weeks for work and when I returned I contacted Amerigas at Port Hadlock at there office and told them of the problem that no one showed up. No response! I again asked them to fill the tank and again they said I had to set up an inspection before they could do that. I then asked what the cost was for propane and they quoted me a price that was thirty cents higher than the competition. I asked them to come and pick up the tank as they did a week or so later.
Amerigas charged me $59.99 for a dispatch charge and $68.00 for labor to come and pick up there tank! Total of $127.00! I had rented it for years.
I find this unacceptable and will definitely NOT recommend Amerigas to anyone period!

The flag at the Schuyler County Illinois location is tattered and torn and should be taken down until it can be replaced. It has been in this condition for almost a month or more.
This doesn't present a good imagine for your company or its name. They should show more respect for the flag and what it represents.
Thank you in advance for seeing that this matter is taken care of in a timely manner.
new service
We bought a house on Amelia Island, FL after the couple died and been empty for 2 years
They want to charge us $5 / gallon propane since low history of use - duh
We agreed to that - though should be $2
Then local provider - same one as previous owners demanded additional $161 safety inspection first

service
I spoke with Stephanie at the local office that services my account # [protected]. I have had service for 13 years and never paid a tank rental. Every year they fill up the tank and waive any rental fees. She said that would not be happening again; therefore, I requested to cancel my service. She then told me I would have to pay $104.00 to cancel my account. I then asked for a supervisor and left a message for Milt Dominguez. He never returned my call. In the meantime I called another gas company and was quoted 2.49 per gal for new service. I called Amerigas a few days later and was told they would relay another message. Mr Dominguez called me and I explained what I was told by Stephanie. He said he was confused because if I agreed to fill the tank the tank rental should be waived. I agreed to fill the tank as long as the tank rental was waived. I received a bill a week later showing the gas was 2.99 per gal. I called the 800# and asked was the price negotiable because I had been quoted $2.49. They said they would send a note to billing. A few days later, Stephanie called me and said she pulled my call with Milt Dominguez and heard him quote me $2.99 per gal and would not be adjusting my bill. (I never received a quote from Amerigas, as I did not know the prices could very and thought all companies rate would be the same) I asked to speak with Mr. Dominguez and left a message on his voice mail. I never received a call, but a few days later I received another invoice showing they had reduced my price per gallon to $2.49. I am very confused as to why this process was so complicated and why the service I received from Stephanie was so unprofessional, she basically called me a liar, when in fact she told me several falsities during our conversations.
being overcharged for propane
We have been a customer of youngs propane for 10 years. We have a commercial and residential account, our tenants had complained about there propane bill being higher than normal. After contacting Youngs propane we were told that they were owned by Amerigas and needed to sign a contract (that was not available till June) which was still a few months away. And we would have to pay a $130.00 fee to fill out a contract that was not refundable. So in the meantime they filled our home tank, and did not leave a slip. A few weeks later we received a bill for $1748.00 due immediately, with no other information. After calling them we were told it was for 360 gallons of propane at a cost of $4.85 per gallon. After looking at our last bill we were paying a $1.85 per gallon. Again we called them and asked why it was $3.00 more per gallon with no warning, there response was they have a new computer system and customers without a contract get charged more. Out of frustration we called another local company and they quoted us $1.41 per gallon. We have yet been able to solve this issue with Amerigas.
over charging for propane
My parents had their propane tank filled by another company for $1.49 in July 2017 so I called Amerigas to have mine filled their price was $3.63 was told to call back first week in August which I did and it went up 2 more cent. Contacted BBB and was told they can charge whatever they want but I do not have to buy. Amerigas will charge pick up fee plus if you have more then 5% in tank they charge another $150.00 to pull from tank which I have been told they do not remove the propane they actually set tank at someone else property and charge them for the propane so its like they are getting paid 3 times for the same gallon. BEWARE...
unethical behavior
I received a automated phone call this morning stating that I will have funds deducted from my account (I'm guessing a credit card or bank account?)for the event that will be happening at the end of the month.I do not have an online account or have given them any credit card or bank info.Very scary I have only paid with a check! Why did I receive a call? This is unethical and concerning!
amerigas prices are outrageous!
I live in the Grass Valley, CA area and my price is over $2 more per gallon than any of the other companies in the area (there are 10 other companies). I am leaving Amerigas due to this. The ladies in the office are incredibly helpful but I could hear their supervisor yelling at them in the background for trying to be helpful. I really feel sorry for them...
I guess I am another lost customer as I don't think that Amerigas's propane works any different than other companies propane and hearing people getting treated like that when they are trying to help me is really disturbing.
Suburban propane here I come!
not being able to purchase the tank I have
I have been leasing a tank from Amerigas for 7 years now. When I called to ask to be able to buy the tank outright I was told that I have to have the old tank removed and have a new tank installed at a cost of $2700-$3700 Seems like a total scam that I cannot buy the tank already in the ground. I have called other gas companies in the area and they claim that you should be able to purchase the tank already in the ground. I called back the office and told them that I want them to remove the tank and I am going to buy another tank through another company. The price is the same why should I give you more money to purchase something new. The tank is only 7 years old.
I f you want to continue to keep my business I would like to be able to purchase the existing tank. Otherwise I will use another company.
