Working with Angi has been the most frustration I've ever experienced with a business.
I am renting a house and the person maintaining my lawn was no longer able to take care of it for me, so I used Angi to find a new contractor in September. The price seemed a little high for bi-weekly lawn care, but I just needed someone to keep the lawn mowed from September until I move out this winter.
Contractor #1 shows up right on time on Saturday September 16th at 10am, but it is raining, so he asks me if he can come back tomorrow. I say no problem. He calls me on Sunday and says his trailer for his riding lawn mower is broken but will be fixed that day and he'll come by on Monday. He shows up on Monday with just a push mower, does about 20% of my yard and says he'll be back tomorrow. A week goes by and I never hear from him again. I contact Angi customer service and they reschedule the job for someone else on September 26th.
Contractor #2 calls me the day of the service and says his truck is broke down on the freeway and he won't be able to make it until tomorrow. I told him I was going out of town, but please complete the service. About two days later I text him for an update and he tells me it's complete. I didn't realize until a couple weeks later I had been charged for both services, even though my lawn had only been mowed once.
I assumed now that I was on a new bi-weekly schedule. About two weeks later, October 9th, I get charged again and get notified that Contractor #1 was scheduled for my next service on October 10th. He never showed. I call customer service. I've now been charged three times to have my lawn mowed once. After about an hour of back and forth, I get the billing sorted out and get a new service scheduled for about a week later, with contractor #3.
The appointment never showed up in the Angi app, so I contact customer service on the morning of the service to verify the appointment. They confirm contractor #3 is supposed to be there at 2pm on Saturday, October 14th and they give me a contact number for him.
I text contractor #3 to verify he is coming. Contractor #3 calls me and says his truck is broke down and he won't make it until Sunday. It's now Sunday, and I can't get a hold of contractor #3. In the past month since I started using Angi, I was supposed to have three lawn services, but have only received one and have little faith I'll ever see another one.
Do I just have really bad luck that 100% of the contractors have either been late or no shows due to vehicle maintenance issues or are they getting paid upfront and using maintenance as an excuse to not do the job?
Desired outcome: Angi, please vet your contractors better and look at your booking and payment process.
