Double oven
I called them on June 2th 2021 to tell them the top of my KitchenAid Double Oven wasnot coming to temperature. They sent out a rep from Sears to look at it.. He ordered a new board and temp probe. The one part came in, the second part took 2 months. I had to call Choice to see if he was going to come out and replace it. He scheduled a date to come out in August giving me a time frame of 8 hours... ( I own a business and cannot sit home for 8 hours and wait)... The tech's office called about 3:30 to tell me he had a "Personal " problem and they would reschedule...6 weeks later...
When that date came around, the office once again called and said that he was "SICK". and couldn't make it... it was now over 2 months.
In addition to all of this, CHW had my problem down as a :STOVETOP not a double oven. They wanted to send Sears out again.. I refused to see them again.. I didn't have another 8-5 pm time frame to wait for another NO SHOW excuse. I asked them to send out another firm... They told me I'd have to pay for another firm to come out and pay another "COP PAY.
Then they said they would pay me $300++ plus to replace my "stovetop" which was a double oven. I refused it... and then I waited again ...longer for their team to research it.. The offered me $1500 this time. To replace my oven was a min of $3300 _+ at Lowes. and that is what they said I had to use was a Lowes certificate.
So I had them send another outfit out.. and they actually did a good job checking it out.. but It blew up. So they told CHW that is was dead... on the spot. to replace it.
Now they put it thru the paces again and offered me $600+ this time.. I took it once again to have a determinate made on the price. They said
IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT BRAND I HAD, IT DIDNT' MATTER IF I HAD STAINLESS OR ANYTHING ELSE.. IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT FEATURES I HAD ON THE OVEN. NOTHING MATTERED AND THEY SAID THEY'D OFFER ME $1090... THIS TIME... SUCH CRAP... THEY ARE A SCAM OPERATION AND NOTHING THEY DO IS FAIR AND EQUITABLE.! STAY [protected]@!
Desired outcome: I WANT A NEW, same brand 27" Kitchenair Double oven EQUALLY LOADED WITH ALL THE SAME FEATURES IN THE SAME BRAND AND COLOR
Dishwasher
They lie to you, I filed a claim for my dishwasher which had a seal that you cannot replace. It is a covered item, they sent out 2 different repair companies
which both stated that it was not repairable. Choice then offered me a $246 Lowes or Home depo gift card, so much for if it cannot be repaired, we will replace it. not even close they then came back with $350. N=The dishwasher is all stainless-steel GE profile with a stainless - steel tub. After have filed the claim on 10/18 and having gone through 3 different case managers who all stated that they do not replace them. I then called Choice to inquire about a policy, I asked first regarding their repair policy I taped the conversation, the agent stated that if we cannot fix it we will replace the unit with an equal or better unit. I then spoke with my lates case manager Peta and repeated what again I was told fix or replace, she stated that was not the case. I was told the same when I purchased the warranty, again they lie to you as they do not replace a unit that cannot be fixed, they prefer to give you a gift card. 1000% lying to you. read comments from employees many will state get ready to lie to customers. They lie to you and could care less, try reading the entire contract, a disaster. I know I am not the only one.
Desired outcome: replace my dishwasher
Does not provide the service or reimburse
I purchased multiple policies to provide coverage on rental properties. My experience has been unacceptable. Here's my experience.
1. Extended delays providing service tech - I have had to wait over a month for Choice to find and deploy a service technician. This is a real problem when you have a heater fail in the winter, an air conditioner in the summer, or a plumbing issue that has water dripping.
2. Service professionals will not work with them. When the wait became too long, and I had to use the find my own technician, most of the professionals simply said they would not work with choice.
3. Failure to reimburse - When I have used the find your own technician option, which I have had to do multiple times, I have never been fully reimbursed for my expense.
4. Plan to spend a lot of time on the phone negotiation - When I have an issue I plan to spend at least 10 hours on phone and email negotiating for payment. Choice will tell me the issue is not covered and provide a description of the problem that the technician did not enter. (In several cases I watched the tech enter the information and it was not what choice said was reported as the problem). Choice will deny the claim or offer to pay only a small portion of the cost to repair or replace. For example, I replace a failed dishwasher. The basic replacement unit was over $600 plus the installation and disposal fee. For those who have purchased dishwashers recently, you know this is a base unit. Choice reimbursed $250 stating that CHW cost was $250 so that was all they would reimburse. In another unit I had a washer fail. A base model washer current cost around $500. CHW Reimbursed less than $250 AND provided reimbursement as a Lowes gift card.
5. No Refunds - I have expressed my displeasure with Choice's service and asked for a refund on my prepaid multiyear policy. Choice would only refund $200 on a $1800 payment.
Desired outcome: Warning to others
What a rip off
We recently moved and HAD to purchase Choice Home Warranty. We had a slab leak in our home 9 months after moving in. We were without water for over 24 hours. We called a plumbing service to get an estimate that was able to come within just a couple of hours. When we contacted Choice Warranty, we were told they would send someone out to give us an estimate.
We could not wait for someone sitting in a call center to look up a plumbing service and hope that they were reputable.
When you move and are new to an area, you should be allowed to ask locals who is the best in the area. Not through some call center.
What a waste of money.
Desired outcome: They should reimburse us for the damages from the leak.
Service
Choice Home Warranty provides the worst service and doesn't cover anything. I called in about my fridge not working. It took 2 weeks for a tech to come out only to tell me that they need to order parts which took another 3 weeks and while installing broke messed something up so now the light in fridge don't work. Had another tech come out a 3 weeks later stating that he will order parts which he never did. They jib was left unfinished. Next I called out my microwave blowing out the circuit with each use, The tech came out didn't charged me a service fee and I received an email stating that the choice is offering me $191 to replace my microwave. Considering I paid $65 to the tech who didn't do anything, That would mean $126 for microwave replacement. I called an electrician on my own and was told the microwave does not need to be replaced that it's the circuit that is the issue. I paid the electrician out of pocket to replace it and now it works. Next the motor on my furnace went out. Choice scheduled a tech a week out. The company is a one man show who cancelled 1 hr prior to end of the window frame. The following week they sent another one man show who charged me more that I paid for the policy because choice does not cover replacing the motor. I asked him about the corroded wiring and his said that that will be extra. Same happened with garage door - not covered. Basically they don't cover anything. You end up paying for everything out of pocket. The techs that they sent out are not trained. They have have not been in business for a long time and have no idea what they are doing. They don't have any professional companies that they work with. They people that came were never on time, cancelled at last minute and the ones that did show op were very creepy. Choice Home Warranty just takes your money and runs with it. Don't expect anything good from them. When you cancel the policy, they subtract any claims they paid out. They are very sneaky and unprofessional.
Plumbing Customer Service
We had a plumbing issue and we have no water. It took a week for them to send someone out. I called the plumbing company they said they don't service that area. Choice Home Warranty said wait 24 to 48 hours so they gonna sign is someone else who tell us to be another week. Two weeks without water unacceptable. Well who knows the outcome I just know, NO WATER
Still no watering
False promises of repair or replace; sales pitch to coerce full year subscription
Home Choice Warranty was pitched and sold to me ($565 for one year) as a service that would repair or replace my major appliances (built-in dishwasher specified) and that I'd only have to pay $65 technician charge to assess/repair/replace. - Dishwasher is a 4yr old GE Profile Stainless Steel ($1, 000) with additional upper wash system and rack for silverware - purchased warranty October 12, 2021 - dishwasher failed November 14, 2021 but works partially; was not running drain cycle and electric component was burning - Filed claim with HCW immediately (11/15 or 16) - Technician came to home same week - I paid $65; Technician determined the dishwasher needed $600 in repairs;HCW determined dishwasher is totaled and should be replaced for "long-term" solution - HCW forwarded digital offer of $250 in Lowe's gift cards to replace dishwasher; I REJECTED THIS OFFER - HCW missed 1st scheduled "Case" meeting for Tuesday 11/23 No-Call/No-Show, and NO Communications - Multiple attempts, messages to NO avail; rescheduled on their calendar for 11/30 @830am; agent called at 8:40am; I explained my frustrations and rejection, she came back and offered $350 to replace my dishwasher on the basis that it is "their wholesale distributor cost" for which, I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO! The agent clarified to my question that they will offer nothing more. I REJECTED THIS OFFER. - National average: $700 to $1, 970; typically $861 I CANNOT buy a replacement of similar quality dishwasher for less than $800. Their offer is based on a value that NO CONSUMER
has access to and is therefore WORTHLESS.

Well - no water
On November 14 water stopped. I called Choice and initiated a claim and was advised someone should contact me within 48 hours. On November 16 I called Choice to follow up and was advised my service request had been canceled but was being re-initiated. I called back on November 18 and several times since and am told I should hear something within 48 hours. After 12 says I remain without water! and no word. Choice did say I could find my own well company and file for reimbursement under their guidelines
wo days ago on November 30th the contractor set an appointment for today December 2nd to repair my appliance. I took off work to be here for the appointment. This morning two hours before the appointment, I received a call from the contractor saying that they had made a scheduling error and my appointment was being rescheduled to Monday of next week. I now have to take off another day to be here for the technician. Had the contractor called me yesterday to inform me of the scheduling error and the need to reschedule my appointment then I wouldn't have taken off today for no reason and could have just taken off on Monday. Now I have used two vacation days to accommodate a technician who may not come on Monday!
Also the contract specialist Shaun hung up on me while I was trying to file a complaint against the contractor. He was disinterested and felt no need to assist me. Hope my call with him was recorded

My contract # 6458407
my Central cooling and heating system is down from September 2021, after 3 months (11/23/21) tech brought replacement inside unit but: A) it did not have auxiliary heat kit, he may be forgot or have no Idea unit needs auxiliary heat kit or he notice replacement unit is different made than original unit C) now he is embarrass to order the missing part on a new unit which is different than my original unit, but asking me to pay him beside $2052 which I have already paid him, another $1300.00 he can go buy it and install it, as a result my home is cold and my unit do not have axillary heat kit to worm up my house, Tech do not want to order and he wants AHS to order it for him. Today(11/28/21) my home is cold and my unit even is on but because no axillary heat kit, unit do not and cannot worm up, on My thermostat, it has set up on heat 78, but always, nonstop just fan blowing out cold air and room temperature showing 68, which is very cold inside house. I have no idea after 3 months when AHS will fix my system; also the tech has very poor skill and very bad customer service, left behind very messy job. Do not care or has no idea my system fan blowing out cold air without Auxiliary heat kit which not included on the unit he or AHS ordered. The replacement unit was different made from my original unit which had everything, that includes Axillary heat kit.
Toilet
I had your plumber come fix the toilet from moving, but after he finished, the toilet wouldn't hold the water in the tank. He said they don't make the parts anymore. So if they don't have the parts, he should not have fixed if because it wasn't leaking. It was moving side to side. Policy [protected] Phyllis Karl [protected]@aol.com
Desired outcome: the toilet is 17 years old. If you can find the parts it would be fine it is 16" high. I need the height.
hot water heater
Called on a Friday evening about hot water heater. The only communication I got was that they were looking for a tech in my area and I would hear from someone shortly.
Followup - still looking for a tech in my area.
Sunday - still looking for a tech...I bought a hot water heater and had it installed. I needed hot water not excuses.
Monday - call from tech in my area who stated he doesn't work weekends. HaHa. Yes, he laughed and told me good luck in the future getting people to come.
Desired outcome: Not my desired outcome.
Appliance warranty
I could not get service included under warranty and got run around; never could reach any one on phone. Here is an email I sent last week to their customer service and executives
"Happy Thanksgiving from a retired Senior Corporate Executive who recently enrolled with Choice Home Warranty and has had HORRID first experiences with your company over the last week. I have tried to reach someone, anyone to help etc and have been given no service and have been unable to figure out how to cancel! Further, to make the situation a bit more ironic, I get "HOW DID WE DO" Surveys………So before I turn to social media to let all know about what can happen, I am writing to you (assuming this gets to you ) and the Media department of Choice Warranty.
By the way, Mr. Mostofi, congratulations on your appointment to CEO a few months ago; your background and accomplishments might help the culture at Choice (assuming my tale is one of many) to recognize that this is an age of transparency, a time to embrace and build customer relationships to continue to grow revenue streams, not just acquire new customers.
In fact, I truly love the quote from Mr. Hakin "It has been an incredible 13 years at Choice Home Warranty, and I have witnessed the team grow from a few people in a small office, to hundreds of people across many locations, " said Hakim. "Choice Home Warranty today is positioned to thrive with the resources, infrastructure, team, and culture needed to succeed. It has truly been an honor to be part of building the fastest growing U.S. home warranty company, and I look forward to the Company continuing to evolve and grow under Jim's leadership."
I needed help asap when on 11/7 my ice maker on my Sub Zero refrigerator began leaking. Even after turning off the ice maker there was a leak from the water hose in the frig, thus I turned off the water source. I then turned to Choice Warranty, having purchased a warranty in July of 2021. Following all protocols I filed a claim, got emails telling me that the claim was received, that a repair service would be contacting me within an 6 hours. I followed the protocols checking status of claim which continued to say that by about 2 pm (a full 6 hours) i would hear……

Service contractor/vendor not being paid. Stay away
We are a HVAC vendor/service contractor for Choice Home Warranty. I am sorry, we WERE a service provider for them until they decided to "remove our profile " after repeatedly asking for the money that was owed to us. Choice owes us no less than $15, 000. They have not paid us since we began working for them in August of 2021. We have played by their rules and played their game, giving them everything they ask for when they ask for it. Ex: address on COI was incorrect payments will not be processed until correct one is received. Ok. So we corrected and sent them the new COI with address they provided. A couple weeks later: no that is not the right address need new COI. How was it wrong when they provided the address to us? We have submitted invoices to them and have been told no invoices are being received. So we resubmit the invoices. I have resubmitted invoice after invoice and still the only payment we have received from them was for $255.00.
And, now today we are being accused of submitting pictures to them off the internet for a customer's leaking coil. We have held on to a few customers to finish out their work, because we care. I know …. A service provider that cares about their home warranty customers. It is not something Choice is use to. But, I had to resubmit diagnosis AGAIN for a customer along with the pictures and they reassigned it for 2nd opinion. Then almost 24 hours later they tell me we submitted pictures off the internet. I am sorry, what ? Is this another way they are trying to get out of paying me? Why try to say I submitted false pictures unless you are scamming us and the homeowner? Accusing us of submitting pictures off the internet is a flat out lie, farce a big Scam against us. We know that they would not have covered the repair, and this is a way of trying to falsely put the blame on us .
Are there any other contractors or vendors out there having the same issues or any issues? We have been waiting for 5 months for our net 30 pay. How does a company get away with this? How many hoops do we have to jump through in order to get the money owed to us? We have decided to start billing all the customers for the work done and include a letter explaining what has happened and why they are receiving a bill from your us. In the state of GA we can place a lien on property as licensed contractors. And, we are willing to go this far in order to get paid. The homeowners can then take it up with Choice. We don't know what else to do. After this the only other option is legal action, and we are willing to go that far too. But, right now after running out of pocket to complete the work for Choice, we are about to be broke. $15, 000 is a big deal of money to a small company. Why they want to destroy a small business that actually wants to do the work? That cares?
We just want to get our money!
Desired outcome: To be paid our 15,000
Ac and toilet, also roof repairs
CHW denied valid claims for repairs or replacement for our AC, our toilet, and in the past also a roof repair. They falsified the reports made to them by their technicians who came to our home to do the visual verification of the condition of our items. Also the technicians refused to supply us with a copy of what they filed to CHW with 1 exception. Most claims of any dollar amount are automatically denied and bogus reasons given / made up and sent to there policy holder. Its an endless nightmare of denials for coverage, of false reports being sent, of refusal to supply the policy holder of the report that is sent in to make the claim like now. - Team Alpha plumbers. The agent at their office has refused to send me a copy of what they filed for my toilet claim. Beware. Stay away. Save your money and your sanity. Bad BAD Choice with Choice Home Warranty
Desired outcome: Send a plumber who will snake out the syphon from the tank to the toilet to clear it and or/. pay for a toilet replacement. I was told I need a new toilet buy their Team Alpha plumbers.
Repair to a refrigerator
I opened a claim on 11/1/21. Choice called Sear (A&E Factory service) to assign the repair order. They visited our home on 11/2/21 after 1:00 pm. Service tech said we had a bad circuit board and ordered a new one. At that time, he informed my wife that he would be back on 11/11/21 to install the new board. We received the new board on friday, 11/5/21 and I notified both Sears and Choice that we received the board. NO one returned a call and I called choice several times afterwards to speak to claims rep to get Sears or someone else to install the board. But as anticipated, no one could be contracted so we had to wait for Sears. They installed the board yesterday, 11/11/21 after 1:00 pm, technician said it would take 6 hours to cool down. 18 hours later at 7:00 am this morning, refrigerator still not working. I have called both Sears and Choice, no one will help. they tell me sears next available appointment is 11/17/21 then a few minutes later, it said 11/18/21. The 3 choice reps keep repeating to me there is nothing they can do, the system is what it is and all I can do is wait until Sears shows up. I suggested they open a new claim to see if they can find a different service provider to come to our home sooner to re-evaluate and repair the refrigerator and they told me they could not do that. they would have to cancel the sears visit and start a new claim and they suggested not cancelling and just waiting because they have no idea if /who they can get to come analyze and repair the refrigerator. so, we have been without a refrigerator for 13 days and counting and now we have to wait until 11/17 or 11/18- I really dont know which day for them to send another inadequate service techintian to perhaps once again, make the wrong evaluation and who knows what happens after that. The refrigerator is an LG and less then 2 years old. Very sad service
Desired outcome: to have someone actually give a darn, come out today as that would be the right professional service to perform and try to repair the refrigerator

Over $1000+ to have CHW to follow their slogan, promises...of "We Fix it or Replace it" as well as 24/7 hour service. I've been waiting for my dryer to get fixed since Oct. 17th when I placed 1st call to CHW. Here it is Nov. 11 and nothing. # times the tech did not show up at time sent and then, yesterday, tech either went to wrong house because no knock on the door or doorbell rang...I was upstairs, saw a call at 3:05 email said he arrived at about 3:15. I ran outside because I WAITED all day long - a 4th day wasted amongst numerous others as well as useless or misinformation in emails or wasted calls to numerous people including Kelly & Shauntal Dawkins at HQ ( supposedly) as well as Christian... numerous others ( I will say that it seemed Wendy & Gina - at resolutions at least tried to help expedite the tech arrival to no avail) regarding not one thing being fixed or replaced in regards to dryer, water heater or roof leak. It seems I just pay a technician $65 every time to be told CHW can't live up to their word because nothing has been fixed nor replaced and definitely not handled in professional way nor in a timely fashion and yes, I've been livid and furious because I should have paid the $1000+ to myself for all the days taken off, phone calls to find out why tech didn't show at appropriate time or in most cases not at all. I've many calls and numerous emails documenting this unprofessional handling of everything showing cancellations, rescheduling all due to not showing up the first time to fix or replace when it should have been handled 24/7in every case. BTW - none of the techs scheduled worked Sat. or Sun. and Angel didn't work Mondays so no, you aren't 24/7 get it done swiftly are you? Victor Haken is rich on people like me that trusted his company to come through if needed but he never intended to do so did he?
Desired outcome: ACTUALLY FIX/REPLACE dryer, water heater, &roof leak like CHW advertising & return $$ I pd. upfront along/w $65 pymts & my days off... The robotic "I understand" when they don't... I've an elderly mother and a daughter w/cancer.
+plumbing leaks
Had a major leak in shower. called and CHW said they are not an emergency service. I paid out of pocket 400.00, because water was everywhere. I called for the other leakds and they sent a person who took the money, and never came back. Called CHW they gave me a number for an appt. He never showed, could not get him on the phone, neither could CHW. Now they send a 3rd guy who came out at 7PM his appt was at 9AM. He said he couldn't fix the leaks, needed a new faucet. He was a home improvement guy and would not do it. I called the CHW and they said he needed to send a diagnoses which he said he did twice. They said they never received any diagnoses They said I could get a plumber, but he needed to take pictures and diagnose the problem. He did that on his phone and CHW said they got it and would authorize within 30 minutes. 2 hrs later no call and the plumber said he couldn't wait, Several days later and several calls, CHW said they received nothing. The plumber was unable to resend so I had them send to me and I sent to CHW. After 3 people who said they got it, they are now saying I have to resubmit but in my own words as additional notes. THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE AND IS STILL NOT RESOLVED.
Desired outcome: I get reimbursed for what it would cost to do the repairs and for the faucet I bought out of pocket.thg
I never wanted it
I ask them to stop, to remove me, to block me every day they keep calling. I block the number, a new guy calls the next day
They will not stop no matter who I call and speak with. I do not know what to do.
