On Sunday, July 2, 2023, my husband and I, along with another couple, went to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant, 157 Okatie Center Boulevard, a Okatie, SC 9909 for breakfast. We are local residents and like to patronize our local businesses. We were told the wait for a table would be about 25 minutes, which we said would be acceptable. We waited about 35 minutes and were then told a table was ready for us. Our waitress came over shortly to take our beverage order, and returned with our coffees within a reasonable time. We then placed our order for breakfast. It was busy, and we noticed that only half the dining room was being used, and we have noticed that a lot lately whenever we have gone for breakfast and it seems there just isn’t enough people working there. Well we waited quite a while, the waitress stopped over and said hopefully soon our order would be ready. I noticed a lot of food being taken out and then the manager came over and apologized and thanked us for being patient. He said he had placed a call to corporate because they were overwhelmed and needed help. Well we waited and waited, and several times we thought we’d just get up and leave but were told our food would be out soon. It didn’t come out soon at all, in fact, it took 2 hours for our food to come out of the kitchen and then to make matters worse, 3 of us ordered Mamas French Toast breakfast, the other 2 got 8 half slices of the French toast and my plate only had 6. I told the waitress about it, but not to bother trying to get the other slices, that I had lost my appetite waiting so long.
As I said we are local, residents and can drive our golf carts to Cracker Barrel and enjoy taking our grandson in the golf cart for breakfast, but with the service we have been receiving, I doubt if we’ll be going back, and we are angry with ourselves for sitting there that long, but we were enjoying our friends company and kept thinking our order would be out soon. We have waited up to 1 hour in the past, which also was unacceptable but wanted to give it another chance.
I think something needs to be done to manage the facility a lot better and if they felt the table would be ready in 25 minutes they should have told us the wait for food would take longer. It would be unfortunate for this location to have to close due to poor management or short handed staff, there are many people in Sun City who take advantage of the location and the fact we can drive golf carts there and it’s only a 10 minute ride from I 95 which is great for travelers.
