When I booked a room in Yorkton SK in July I assumed I had reached the Days Inn booking centre. When I received my credit card statement today I was charged in US currency. I'm a Canadian and booked a room in Canada. Why would I want to pay in USD and pay 30% more? I was never asked at time of booking in which currency I wanted to pay. I didn't know this was an American company. I looked online to find a #to book the room. Be very careful when searching online. Don't deal with GETAROOM...rip off. I called them and they said there is nothing they can do. I am livid
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. I was told the cost of the room was $134. They didn't say $134 US. I ended up paying $179 in Canadian dollars. How do you figure it was less for me. My credit card is from Canada and any US transactions get automatically converted to Canadian Dollar. If I was American yes i would obviously want to pay in US currency.
I googled Days Inn and called the number I found on Google assuming it was Days Inn booking centre. I didn't book the room online so I didn't see their website.
Get a life. You must work for Get A Room.

Since the exchange rate for Canada vs USD is 30% higher, on the Canadian side, paying in USD would actually be LESS for you. And since the default currency on the website is USD, I am confused at how you could not know this was an American company, and American companies charge American currency. I would not expect a website showing CDN currency to charge me USD. That is just stupid.
I don't know what I am talking about? You said you had to pay a higher rate in USD than you would have had you been charged CDN. Now, you say you were charged CDN. So what is it? Were you charged USD or CDN? Your post is confusing because started off saying you were charged American currency then you say you were charged CDN. Even if the USD amount was $134, the CDN of $179 would be correct with the exchange. And just like my American credit card, yours converted the foreign currency on your bill. You paid the same amount. You just did not pay attention to the website when you placed the reservation.
Why do you think I work for them? I work in a pharmacy and that has nothing to do with hotel rooms. These are your words:
received my credit card statement today I was charged in US currency.
So, you obviously do not know what you are talking about.
Oh, and I do have a life. A good one that allows me the common sense to read and comprehend currency charges on a website and how to read a credit card statement.
Have a nice life.
I as well booked a room in Canada, as i live in Canada and I look at my credit card to see that I was charged in USD.. I thought I was paying $568 CAD but they charged USD so I paid $711 for a room for 2 nights. I called them 3 times and did get to speak to someone once for a few minutes but some how we keep getting disconnected. I am so very disappointed, They are very deceiving on the phone as they say nothing about charging in USD, when they see our address is Canada and we are booking to stay in Canada why would they not say anything.
